Melvin "Mel" Potts, 85, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 3rd, 2022.

Melvin was born in Salina, Kansas on July 30, 1937, a son of the late Erna Margreht (Bonin) and Elmer Henry Potts.

Mel owned and operated Bob's Auto Repair and he was very well known as a race car driver at Salina Speedway.

On February 19, 1988, Mel married Joanne D. Walle in Salina.

Survivors include his wife Joanne; daughter Jennifer Swanson (Scott) of Peachtree City, Georgia; three sons, Bob Potts (Peggy) of Salina, Mitch Potts of Falun, Jon Potts of Salina; two stepsons, Lonnie Abel of Overland Park, and Randall Abel of Salina; sister-in-law Kathy Potts, of Salina.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jessica Potts, Melanie Griffith (Zach), Mandy Traskowsky, Melissa Potts, Jet Swanson; six great-grandchildren, Landon, Kynlee, Brekken, Hayden, Lane, Brody.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law Sandra "Sissy" Potts; brother Doug Potts

Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18th at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home &amp; Crematory in Salina.

Bennie was born on December 10, 1926, in Athol, KS, the son of Edward G. and Neva M. (Beach) Smith.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;On March 4, 1962, he married Lois L. Matteson in Phillipsburg, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bennie was a U. S. Army WWII Veteran serving from May 26, 1945, to October 9, 1946, when he was honorably discharged.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois on November 5, 2005, brother, Arthur Smith and a sister, Ilene (Wagenblast) Voorhees.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bennie is survived by his two children, Stacey Smith of Concordia and Kevin (Charlene) Smith of Athol; a sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Smith Center; two grandchildren, Derek (Staci) Foreman and Dakota (Latham) Foreman and three&nbsp;great grandchildren Tate and Mack Foreman and Eitte Foreman. &nbsp;&nbsp;

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2022, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Lenore married Roger Samuelson in Eagle, NE on March 9, 1979.

 She was a records clerk at Goodyear Tire in Lincoln, NE.

Lenore is survived by her husband Roger of Ellsworth; sons Kirk Beeman (Rachelle) of Lincoln, NE and Brian Beeman (Stephanie) of Waverly, NE; grandchildren Christopher Beeman, Tareva Tinsley, Chance Csuhta, and Bryanna Beeman; great-grandchildren Beebe, Felicity, Brock, and MaeDean; sisters, Sharon Bruna of Barnes, KS, Linda Alexander of McPherson, KS, and Leila Justus of Greenleaf, KS.

Geraldine “Gerry” Delores Janda, 90, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, in Ellsworth, KS. She was born October 10, 1932, in rural Ellsworth County to Ralph and Helen (Spears) Bowers. 

Gerry married Fred Lee Janda on October 17, 1950 and worked and lived on the family farm. She also worked as activity director for 29 years at the Good Samaritan Center in Ellsworth where she was loved by her coworkers and friends. 

Gerry was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church of Ellsworth where she sang in the choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Altar Society. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.

Gerry is survived by her two daughters, Donna Oglesbee and husband Daryl of Olathe, KS and Debra Kralik of Ellsworth; son Michael Janda and wife Coleen of Salina, KS; grandchildren Audra and Brandon Bell of Peculiar, MO, Darren and Heather Oglesbee of Shawnee, KS, Brandon Kralik of Ellsworth, Michelle Kralik of Lyons, KS, Mikayla and Tristan Irish of Wichita, KS, and Mariah Janda of Salina; as well as eight great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Helen Bowers; stepmother Freda Bowers; husband Fred Janda; and brothers Floyd and Larry Bowers.

Family will receive friends during a visitation time at noon-2 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Ellsworth.

Miriam Hawthorne passed away in her San Antonio home, on Tuesday, 25 Oct 2022 just three days from her 97th birthday. &nbsp;Miriam Lee Smith Hawthorne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irving B. Smith was born 28 October 1925 in Hutchinson, Kansas. 

She was a graduate of Vogue School of Design in Chicago and had been department manager for American Millinery Company in Chicago. Here she mastered her craft as millenarist. 

Miriam met her husband on a blind date and married Francis Earl Hawthorne of Akron, OH on 1 February 1948 at Pratt First Christian Church. &nbsp;They settled in Junction City where Earl was stationed at Fort Riley. The couple traveled twenty years for Air Force and retired in San Antonio, TX. Twenty years later, they retired for the final time from Air Force civil service. 

Miriam was a devoted wife, mother, and Christian. She was an active member, holding numerous officers’ positions of various women’s clubs in San Antonio. Miriam was the happiest in preparing holiday dinners for her family, decorating her home, and completing sewing projects.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Earl Hawthorne, son Kirkwood Smith Hawthorne and son-in-law Ronald James Oliva.

Miriam is survived by her daughter Cynthia Oliva of San Antonio, Texas; step-grandchildren Roland Oliva and wife Lindy of Katy, Texas; Annie Oliva Rodriguez of Roseville, CA.

Smith was born 28 October 1925 in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was a graduate of Vogue School of Design in Chicago and had been department manager for American Millinery Company in Chicago. Here she mastered her craft as millenarist. Miriam met her husband on a blind date and married Francis Earl Hawthorne of Akron, OH on 1 February 1948 at Pratt First Christian Church. &nbsp;They settled in Junction City where Earl was stationed at Fort Riley. The couple traveled twenty years for Air Force and retired in San Antonio, TX. Twenty years later, they retired for the final time from Air Force civil service. Miriam was a devoted wife, mother, and Christian. She was an active member, holding numerous officers’ positions of various women’s clubs in San Antonio. Miriam was the happiest in preparing holiday dinners for her family, decorating her home, and completing sewing projects.She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Earl Hawthorne, son Kirkwood Smith Hawthorne and son-in-law Ronald James Oliva.Miriam is survived by her daughter Cynthia Oliva of San Antonio, Texas; step-grandchildren Roland Oliva and wife Lindy of Katy, Texas; Annie Oliva Rodriguez of Roseville, CA. Shirley J. Wilson died peacefully of cancer at a rehabilitation center in Salina on October 30, 2022 at the age of 81.

She was born July 23, 1941 in Winfield, Kansas and was married for 46 years to Michael L. Wilson.

Shirley is survived by her husband Michael; daughter Jennifer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and son Ryan of Salina.

She was primarily a homemaker and in later years a part-time McDonald’s employee.

She was preceded in death by parents Donald and Pauline Dunbar and a brother Richard.

The memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis Ave., Salina beginning at 2:00 p.m. on November 17, 2022.

At a later date the interment ceremony will be held at Floral Cemetery near Winfield.

Darin was born, March 7, 1974, in Salina to Ronald Vance, Salina, and Shelley Buchanan, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Darin is preceded in death by his father Ronald “Ron” Vance.

He is survived by his wife Janice; his children Brody and Shelby of Minneapolis; his mother Shelley A. Buchanan; his bonus mom Janny J. Vance; and his sister Shannon K. Vance.

Also left behind are multiple family and friends whom he loved and cherished.

Darin is a graduate of Salina High School South and Salina Vo-Tech where he learned the art of welding, which he made a great career as a Project Manager for Exline, Inc. Darin took pride in his work and the men on his team.

Darin loved his family, friends and his community; he was supportive of all. &nbsp;He enjoyed having gatherings at their home with his wife, smoking meat with his buddies, working on projects, especially with his children, driving the combine during harvest, making so many impromptu memories with family and friends in the shop, always saying “come on out.”

Darin lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed.

Shirley Ann (Stephens) Krug, 84, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell.

Shirley was born March 7, 1938, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; She was the youngest of five children born to John Thomas and Grace Belle (McAllister) Stephens.&nbsp; She grew up in the Hornview area in northern Russell County and attended country schools.&nbsp; She graduated from Russell High School.

Shirley was united in marriage to Ronald Harold Krug on June 1, 1958, in Russell.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children; Stephanie, Steven and Randy.&nbsp; They made their home on a farm in southern Russell County.&nbsp; Ron preceded her in death on January 26, 2018.

Shirley was a devoted wife and homemaker. &nbsp;She worked as a sales clerk for CR Anthony’s then worked for Russell State Bank / UMB Bank for over seventeen years before retiring.&nbsp; She was an active member of the St. John Lutheran Church.&nbsp; She was a proud member of the Russell Hospital Auxiliary and cooked for many soup suppers.&nbsp; She also worked as an election board worker for many years.&nbsp; As a child she was a member of 4-H and later became a 4-H Leader when her children had joined.&nbsp; She enjoyed reading, playing piano, baking (especially her banana bars) and doing crafts with the Hospital Auxiliary.&nbsp; She took great pride in hosting family gatherings.

Shirley’s surviving family include her daughter, Stephanie Hutchinson (Randy) of Falun, Kansas; two sons, Steven Krug (Connie) of Russell, Kansas and Randy Krug (Cathy) of Salina, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Krystle Roe, Audrey Lofland, Katlynn Krug-Richart, Samuel Krug, Michael Krug, Cole Hutchinson, Tyson Hutchinson and Cade Hutchinson; and10 great grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ron; brother, Neal Stephens; sisters, Nenah Belle Bachar, Vivian Brandenberg and Faith Steponic; and great grandchild, Fayelle Hutchinson.

Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.&nbsp;

Shirley Ann (Stephens) Krug

Sister Donna Gottschalk, CSA, formerly Sister Philip, died peacefully
 November 2, 2022, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Donna
 Marie was born in La Crosse, Kansas, on May 6, 1940.  She was the first 
daughter after eight sons born to Philip Gottschalk and Lidwina Werth 
Gottschalk. Following Donna, three more boys and two girls made the 
family of fourteen complete. Donna spent her childhood keeping up with 
her brothers, doing farm and household chores, and learning very fast 
how to play baseball and football with the best. When Donna was six, the
 family moved to Hays, Kansas, to fulfill her parents’ desire for their 
children to have a Catholic education.  In grade school and high school,
 Donna was taught by the Sisters of St. Agnes.  From early on, she wanted
 to be just like the sisters. After high school, Donna, still undecided 
about pursuing her desire to be a sister, attended the College of Mount 
St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas, taught by the Sisters of St. 
Benedict. In 1959, after her first year of college, Donna made the 
decision to enter St. Agnes Convent. Even though she missed the wheat 
fields of Kansas and the life she shared with her family, her call to 
religious life beckoned her to Wisconsin and CSA.  She made her first 
profession of vows as Sister Philip in the Congregation of Sisters of 
St. Agnes on August 15, 1962, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Sister
 Donna earned a BS in Elementary Education from Marian College, Fond du 
Lac, Wisconsin, in 1964.  Sister taught primary grades in Wisconsin, 
Pennsylvania and Kansas for thirty-one years. She loved teaching and 
working with children, and they loved her and filled her heart with many
 happy memories.  During her years as an educator, she enriched her 
teaching and religious education skills with several courses and 
seminars at Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, and at Silver Lake 
College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

In 1993, Sister Donna 
retired from teaching. After a year of sabbatical in Rock Haven, 
Missouri, in 1994, she engaged in a variety of ministries including 
serving on the parish team of Sacred Heart Parish in Colby, Kansas, and 
cooking for the residents at St. John’s New Horizons Assisted Living, 
Hays, Kansas. In 1998, Sister Donna returned to Fond du Lac as an 
assistant to the Local Coordinators for the CSA retirement community at 
Nazareth Court and Center. She spent countless hours providing for the 
needs of the sisters, shopping for them, driving, baking, preparing 
special meals and filling the sisters’ days with her caring and 
attentive presence and support. In 2018, a serious illness caused Sister
 Donna to resign her position. Unable to serve the sisters as before, 
she herself became a resident at Nazareth Court and Center and later at 
St. Francis Home where she received loving care until the time of her 
death.

Throughout her life, Sister Donna cherished her 
life in CSA and her Kansas roots. Her love for life, for her CSA 
sisters, for her family and friends, for the wheat fields, for the smell
 of the land and for all creation remained strong as did her special 
hobbies of cooking, baking, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

 Sister Donna in death were her parents; her brothers Father Andrew 
Gottschalk, OSB, Vernon, Ivan, Cecil, Philip, Floyd, Stephen; her sister
 Helen (Ron) Legleiter.

Sister is survived by her 
brothers Donald (Theresa), Leon, Father David, OFM, Cap., Andrew (Lena);
 her sister Raeann (Charles) Suppes; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Cecil)
 Gottschalk, Nita (Ivan) Gottschalk, Bernadette (Philip) Gottschalk; her
 devoted nieces and nephews, and the Sisters of St. Agnes with whom she 
lived, prayed, and ministered.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 11, 2022, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays with Fr. Nick Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be held at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine Street, Hays, KS, 67601 from 5:00 PM — 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 10, and from 9:00 AM—9:30 AM&nbsp;on Friday, November 11, 2022.&nbsp;

A Parish vigil and rosary service will be at 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Visitation also will be held 
at Nazareth Court and Center, 375 Gillett Street, Fond du Lac,

 November 2, 2022, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.Donna
 Marie was born in La Crosse, Kansas, on May 6, 1940. She was the first 
daughter after eight sons born to Philip Gottschalk and Lidwina Werth 
Gottschalk. Following Donna, three more boys and two girls made the 
family of fourteen complete. Donna spent her childhood keeping up with 
her brothers, doing farm and household chores, and learning very fast 
how to play baseball and football with the best. When Donna was six, the
 family moved to Hays, Kansas, to fulfill her parents’ desire for their 
children to have a Catholic education. In grade school and high school,
 Donna was taught by the Sisters of St. Agnes. From early on, she wanted
 to be just like the sisters. After high school, Donna, still undecided 
about pursuing her desire to be a sister, attended the College of Mount 
St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas, taught by the Sisters of St. 
Benedict. In 1959, after her first year of college, Donna made the 
decision to enter St. Agnes Convent. Even though she missed the wheat 
fields of Kansas and the life she shared with her family, her call to 
religious life beckoned her to Wisconsin and CSA. She made her first 
profession of vows as Sister Philip in the Congregation of Sisters of 
St. Agnes on August 15, 1962, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.Sister
 Donna earned a BS in Elementary Education from Marian College, Fond du 
Lac, Wisconsin, in 1964. Sister taught primary grades in Wisconsin, 
Pennsylvania and Kansas for thirty-one years. She loved teaching and 
working with children, and they loved her and filled her heart with many
 happy memories. During her years as an educator, she enriched her 
teaching and religious education skills with several courses and 
seminars at Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, and at Silver Lake 
College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.In 1993, Sister Donna 
retired from teaching. After a year of sabbatical in Rock Haven, 
Missouri, in 1994, she engaged in a variety of ministries including 
serving on the parish team of Sacred Heart Parish in Colby, Kansas, and 
cooking for the residents at St. John’s New Horizons Assisted Living, 
Hays, Kansas. In 1998, Sister Donna returned to Fond du Lac as an 
assistant to the Local Coordinators for the CSA retirement community at 
Nazareth Court and Center. She spent countless hours providing for the 
needs of the sisters, shopping for them, driving, baking, preparing 
special meals and filling the sisters’ days with her caring and 
attentive presence and support. In 2018, a serious illness caused Sister
 Donna to resign her position. Unable to serve the sisters as before, 
she herself became a resident at Nazareth Court and Center and later at 
St. Francis Home where she received loving care until the time of her 
death.Throughout her life, Sister Donna cherished her 
life in CSA and her Kansas roots. Her love for life, for her CSA 
sisters, for her family and friends, for the wheat fields, for the smell
 of the land and for all creation remained strong as did her special 
hobbies of cooking, baking, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.Preceding
 Sister Donna in death were her parents; her brothers Father Andrew 
Gottschalk, OSB, Vernon, Ivan, Cecil, Philip, Floyd, Stephen; her sister
 Helen (Ron) Legleiter.Sister is survived by her 
brothers Donald (Theresa), Leon, Father David, OFM, Cap., Andrew (Lena);
 her sister Raeann (Charles) Suppes; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Cecil)
 Gottschalk, Nita (Ivan) Gottschalk, Bernadette (Philip) Gottschalk; her
 devoted nieces and nephews, and the Sisters of St. Agnes with whom she

Jane Rosalie Brunsell, 77, of Lindsborg passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Bethany Home of Lindsborg, KS.  Jane was born January 10, 1945 in Lindsborg, KS to the late James W and the late Emeline (Rosander) Brunsell.  

Jane was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, volunteering for the church's different organizations. She also sang in the Messiah Choir for many years.  Jane belonged to numerous genealogy and stamp collecting clubs. 

Jane graduated high school and secretarial school at Brown-Mackie College.  She worked for a while as a secretary and bookkeeper at various places.  She was also the longtime local rural mail carrier. Jane was one of the first registered EMTs in Lindsborg and volunteered with EMS until 2016.  She also held numerous odd jobs throughout the Lindsborg community.  She was the sexton and caretaker for Elmwood Cemetery in Lindsborg for many years.  She also did sexton work for Smoky Hill Cemetery and Rose Hill Cemetery.   

Survivors include her brother Keith W. Brunsell (Joyce) of Lindsborg, KS;  niece Rachel McCullick (David) of Falun, KS; nephew Scott Brunsell (Alison) of McPherson, KS; niece Kelsey Brunsell (Nick Miller) of Canton, KS.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents and beloved friend Charlotte Ternstrom.

Cremation has been chosen.  The family will greet friends at visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 8 at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 320 N. Main St., Lindsborg, KS with Pastor Chris Deines officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Jacqueline LeeAnn Summers, also known as Ann or Annie, 66, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022.&nbsp; Ann was born January 13th, 1956 in Salina to Jeral Wayne Robinson and Dixie Lee Tower.&nbsp; 

Annie worked as a server most recently, and was a former daycare provider.&nbsp; She provided care to many of the adult children in this room….you know who you are.&nbsp; “Annie," “Mom,” “Grandma,” however you knew her, she was a caregiver at heart her whole life.

She was preceded in death by her father Jeral Robinson, mother Dixie Tower, sister Latina Tower, and brother Alvin Robinson.

Ann is survived by her son Joey Sharp and his wife Jessica, daughter Janae Cramer and her husband Travis, daughter Nikole Greene and her husband Travis, and her youngest son (and favorite child, as we all know) Zane Summers.&nbsp; She is also survived by eight grandchildren Jherl, Sarah, Paige and Joseph Sharp; McKenzie and Malory Cramer; and Tanner and Ryan Loeffler. She was also a great-grandmother to Rylee, Alekz, Acen and Issac. She is also survived by her stepdad John Tower.

She is also survived by her brothers Jeral Robinson Jr. and wife Donna, and Tony Robinson and wife Punk; her sisters Sabrina Lawrence and husband Chris, Mary Ann Ruiz and husband Richard, Doreen Lantz and husband Mark, Denise Jett and husband Kirk and brother Michael Tower. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including everyone’s Aunt Sandy, the only person she would “allow” to take care of her.

Annie loved holidays with her WHOLE family, Christmas being her favorite. If you have ever spent Christmas at her home, she brought the party for sure. Even though she is gone for now, she will always be with us, especially if you find yourself wrapping your own gifts.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband Darreld; three sons, Darreld Toothman, Jr. (Angelika) of Newton, Kansas; Tony Riedel (Melissa) of Salina, Kansas, Timothy Riedel of Lawrence, Kansas; and sister Vicky Rhodenbaugh of Salina.

She is also survived by grandchildren Taelir Kirkpatrick, Amber Kirkpatrick, Destiny Riedel, Bryce Riedel, Rylan Riedel, Chris Schafer, Jessica Decker-Toothman, Jayden Riedel; great-grandchildren Isaiah, Dominic, Kovi, Kahlil, Alena, Gracie, Erik, and Elizabeth.

He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a welder at ElDorado Bus and Kenison Inc.

Ed was a member of Salina USBC- Bowling, Salina Busch Pool League, American Legion Post 62, and was in the Demo Derby for 24 years.

Survivors include his daughter Teresa Zimmerman-Dewitt (Chuck) of Salina, Kansas; son Ed Zimmerman, Jr. (Kacey Johnston) of Stockton, Kansas; sister Betty Dullebawn of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania; and his significant other Kathleen Nagely of Salina, Kansas.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Wayne Zimmerman, Kirtistan "Kris" Zimmerman, Jordan Zimmerman, Collin Zimmerman; great-grandchildren Chance, Kaneden "Kane", Brody, Ryker, Maisie, Ava.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth Zimmerman, Charles Zimmerman; and sister Anna Mae Soles.

Gretta was raised on the family farm in Fall Leaf, Kansas, attending Fall Leaf Grade School --a one-room school with grades 1-8. Gretta attended St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Eudora, Kansas, singing in the choir. In 1951, Gretta graduated from Eudora High School and in 1955 from the University of Kansas with a bachelor of arts degree in music.

Gretta’s favorite lifetime memories included solo performances in opera houses in both San Francisco and Berlin. Gretta spent 10 memorable years living in Germany and traveling through much of Europe before returning to the States where she taught school in Oklahoma, and later edited medical research papers at the University of Texas Research Center until her retirement, moving to Lindsborg, Kansas in 2003.

Gretta is remembered by her surviving cousins and friends as a spirited woman with unmatched musical talent, intelligence, and a great sense for beauty. 

Cremation has been chosen.  A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11 at Elmwood Cemetery, with Pastor Jeff Waugh officiating.

Landon Norwood Prothro, the son of Lloyd Alan Prothro and Laurie Ann (Walenta) Prothro, was born July 29, 1975 at Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, New Mexico and passed away on October 22, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, MO, at the age of 47 years, 2 months, and 23 days.

Landon grew up and attended school in Belleville, Kansas graduating from Belleville High School in 1994. 

Landon later made his home in Kansas City, Missouri. He worked for construction material firms as a salesman and marketing representative for several years. Landon recently was a warehouse and inventory consultant.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Landon was united in marriage to Jessie Dutton and to this union one daughter, Julie, was born. The couple was later divorced.

Landon enjoyed watching football and was a longtime Patriots fan.

He was preceded in death by his sister Elisha Corrine Prothro.

Landon is survived by one daughter, Julie Johnson of Omaha, NE;&nbsp;&nbsp;his parents Alan and Laurie Prothro of Belleville, KS;&nbsp; one sister, Regina Prothro of Belleville, KS; one brother, Emerson Prothro of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; other relatives, and friends.

Cremation was selected and memorial services will be held at a later date to be announced.

This was an obstacle to deal with for both families, and after several years of dating and being very sure of their love for each other, they eventually married in the EUB Church in Marion, now Eastmoor United Methodist , on August 10, 1948. They became members and were very active in the church for nearly 73 years. She was a SS teacher and also taught Bible School for many years, and later served on the kitchen committee.Margaret was active as a farm wife, working side by side with Ed. They did outside jobs to supplement the farm income in their early years. During this time, they started a family, and three children were born in just over three years,&nbsp; Karen, Janet, and Dean. She kept very busy on the farm, but was also active in EHU. As the girls entered college, Margaret took a job as a cook at Tabor, where she worked for about 10 years. She enjoyed this work and made many friends there. Everyone enjoyed Margaret’s cooking, from family and friends, to hired hands. She hosted many large family dinners, and even hosted these into her 90s! They had lots of friends they got together with frequently, playing cards or games, or having picnics or outings together. The family took time out for a vacation every summer, and later Margaret and Ed took bus tours, which produced lasting friendships. They celebrated milestone anniversaries by taking the family on trips, creating many fond memories with children and grandchildren. Margaret adored her grandchildren and they all adored her, too!A highlight of their years together was building a new home on their farm in 1980. In March 2018, they moved off their beloved farm, into Parkside Assisted Living. Margaret made friends wherever she went, and she loved reaching out to others. She loved visiting with anyone who stopped by. On July 22, 2021, Ed passed away. Shortly after this, Margaret developed health issues, with frequent falls and her cancer returning. Margaret continued living in their apartment until her passing on November 1st. She had wonderful caregivers, with Traditions Health and Parkside Assisted Living staff. They took such good care of her and it was apparent they cared for her as much as she cared for them. The family would like to thank them all for their wonderful care, which was so appreciated!Margaret is survived by her daughters Karen (Greg) Jaworsky of Newton, Jan (James) Britton of Denver; son Dean (Beth) Hein of Hillsboro.
