Elizabeth Anne “Annie” Crough, age 66, of Clyde, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde.&nbsp; She was born on March 25, 1956 in Denver, Colorado to Willis and Alice (Maloy) Coates.

She graduated from Cherry Creek High School, Denver, Colorado in 1974. Annie then went on to attend and graduate from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado and received her degree in mass media.

She married Robert “Bobby” Crough on Dec. 7, 1985 in Salina, KS.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2020.

Annie owned and operated her own graphic design business for decades.&nbsp; Her creative side inspired her most. &nbsp;She was a talented graphic designer, covering a variety of artwork genres around the world.

She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, Kansas. &nbsp;She truly loved her family and friends.

She is survived by her brother Jimmy Coates, Denver, CO; sister Mary Berg (Tony), Denver, CO; her three nieces, Jessica Nebel (Jameson) and their son, Aidan of Davenport, IA; Lori Berg (JJ) and their son Jordan, Denver, CO; Amanda Coates of Cheyenne, Wy; and all of Bobby’s children, siblings, and extended family.

She was preceded in death her husband Bobby Crough, her parents Willis and Alice, her sister Cathy Olson and a brother, John Coates, mother-in-law Faye Crough, and extended family.

It was Annie’s wishes to be cremated and a memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday November 11, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde with Fr. Steven Heina officiating. &nbsp;&nbsp;Burial of the cremains will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Solomon, Kansas.

The services will be live streamed on the church Facebook page for everyone to view.&nbsp;

The family suggests memorials to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Park Villa Nursing Home, both of Clyde, or the Morrison House in Salina, in care of the funeral home.&nbsp;

Richard Lee Doyle, age 81, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on December 24, 1940 in Hays, Kansas to Ernest and Zella (McKim) Doyle.

He was a 1958 graduate of Belle Plaine High School, Belle Plaine, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

On August 12, 1962 He married Martha “Marty” Broyles in Webber, Kansas.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on December 23, 2016.

Richard received his bachelor’s degree in music from Kansas State University. While at KSU, Rich and Marty participated in the Kansas State Marching Band, where they met.&nbsp; He went on to receive his master’s degree in mathematics, also from Kansas State University.

Rich served many years working as a fireman for the railroad and then in the MAD department at Cesna. Upon relocating to Concordia, he owned and operated his own woodworking shop, where he enjoyed making many unique crafts.&nbsp; He was a true craftsman and took great pride in his work.&nbsp; He and Marty attended many arts and craft fairs where they would display and sell their crafts. Rich also worked for Cloud County Community College for many years where he retired in 2006.&nbsp;

His hobbies include woodworking, antiquing with his son Jeff, sitting at the beach house with his daughter Deb, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and attending CCCC Volleyball, women’s basketball, and softball games.&nbsp; He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.&nbsp; He truly touched so many lives.

Survivors include his daughter Debra Willis (Larry, deceased), Savannah, GA.;&nbsp; grandchildren Amber Doyle (Joey Irsik), Topeka, KS.; Stephanie Downie (Derrick), Concordia, KS; Heather Hadenfeldt (Jamie), Cairo, NE.; Seth Nonamaker, Beatrice, NE.; Sean Nonamaker (Natalie), Yamhill, OR.; Michelle Bombardier (Bryan), Concordia, KS; Maria Morris (Troy), Lexington, NC, Craig Willis (Jennifer), Las Vegas, NV.; Shane Willis (Gelene), St. George, UT; great-grandchildren Lincoln and Clayton; brothers Larry Doyle (Linda), OK, Pat Melia, OK.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marty, son Jeffrey Doyle, parents Ernest and Zella, daughter-in-law Janette Doyle, son-in-law Larry Willis, and brother Bob Doyle.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2022 with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. Kibum Kim officiating.

Cremation will take place following the funeral service and a private family inurnment will be held at a later time.

Memorial Contributions may be given to Cloud County Community College,c/o Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, P.O. Box 606, Concordia, KS 66901. Funds will be split between the volleyball, women’s basketball, and softball programs.

Velma was born on a small farm near Wellington Kansas February 21, 1932 to father Herman Audman Weathers and mother Hazel Lydia Hibbs-Weathers.

She went to school in Morehead, Kansas until the end of her sophomore year when she moved to Salina to be with her sister.

She met her husband Melvin while waitressing at a cafe near where he worked. They were married in September of 1949.

Velma had several jobs over the years. She waitressed, worked at Safeway and Amark Printing all while raising two sons, Randall and Melvin, Junior. She went to work at Mel's Tack and Saddle in 1973 after 16 years at Amark Printing. She worked with her husband until his passing in 2002 and kept the business open for another three years until her retirement in 2005 at the age of 73.

She passed Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Brookdale Senior Living on Fairdale Avenue where she lived for the last three months.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2022 at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center or St. Jude Memorial Foundation and may be sent in care of Ryan Mortuary.

Betty J. Abbott, 84, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born on February 9, 1938, to George and Elsie (Elliot) Schweizer in Turon, Kan.

 She was united in marriage to Melvin Abbott on October 5, 1963, in Hutchinson, Kan.

Betty was happiest when she was spending time with family.&nbsp; She and Mel also loved to travel.&nbsp; During their 59 years of marriage, they were able to visit all 50 states and went on many cruises. 

Betty was a bookkeeper for many years, only recently retiring.&nbsp; She was a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church in Salina.

She is survived by her husband Mel; daughters Melanie Hancock (Kenny), Melinda Eitel (David), and Melisa McElwee (Kevin), all of Salina; grandchildren, Kurtis Crawford (Brittney), Kaity Crawford, Bryan Eitel (Katie), Lindsay Radiel (Dalton), Tyler McElwee, and Lauren Eitel; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and six sisters.

Family will receive visitors from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, October 30, during visitation at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 31, at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, with a luncheon to follow.&nbsp; Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; A private burial will be at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, at a later time.

Barbara A. George, 89, of Salina, passed away on Wednesday October 26, 2022 at Paramount Health Care in Newton, KS.&nbsp; She was born March 27, 1933 in Plainville, KS to George (Bud) and Ruth Johnson.&nbsp; 

She married Leon George June 1, 1951 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death in April 2002. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Barbara was a very busy homemaker raising their six children and after her youngest started school she entered the workforce in 1970 in the dietary department at the former Asbury Hospital.&nbsp; Barbara retired in 1985 and she and Leon spent their retirement years traveling in their RV, fishing and camping.&nbsp; Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and their growing families.&nbsp;

Barbara was a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution.&nbsp; She was very active the past 20 years in TOPS and was leader of her club for several consecutive years. She attended the First United Methodist Church and was a faithful Meals-on-Wheels volunteer for over 10 years. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband Leon; son Steven; and sisters EveElda Johnson and Georgina Mulkey. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; She is survived by her children Debra (Bob) Klein, Karin (Steve) Ashton, Stephanie (Don) Lentz, Shara McMichael and Lonnie George; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 301 N. George, 89, of Salina, passed away on Wednesday October 26, 2022 at Paramount Health Care in Newton, KS.&nbsp; She was born March 27, 1933 in Plainville, KS to George (Bud) and Ruth Johnson.&nbsp; She married Leon George June 1, 1951 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death in April 2002. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Barbara was a very busy homemaker raising their six children and after her youngest started school she entered the workforce in 1970 in the dietary department at the former Asbury Hospital.&nbsp; Barbara retired in 1985 and she and Leon spent their retirement years traveling in their RV, fishing and camping.&nbsp; Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and their growing families.&nbsp; Barbara was a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution.&nbsp; She was very active the past 20 years in TOPS and was leader of her club for several consecutive years. Janet Sue Layton, 75, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022. She was born on July 25, 1947, in Concordia, Kan., to Ivan and Geraldine (Patterson) Clark.

 Janet was united in marriage to Robert Layton on May 27, 1967, in Concordia.

Janet loved her family and would do anything for them. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, loving on her dogs, and was known for her elaborate cake decorations for special events. 

Over the years Janet worked in admissions at St. John’s Hospital, was a teaching assistant at Roosevelt-Lincoln Jr. High, and a secretary at Salina Tech. After completing a master’s degree, she ran the Adult Education Program at Salina Tech for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert; children Matt Layton (Gina), Tina Layton, and Ben Layton; grandchildren Ali Woody (Trevvor), Doni Lee, Sam Layton, Dylan Lee (Taylor), and Emma Layton; great-grandson Eli Woody; brother Dave Clark (Jolene); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina, with inurnment at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the church, the Salina Education Foundation, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Gary Allan Mooney, 87, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 23rd, 2022.

Gary was born at home near Scottsville, Kansas on June 17, 1935, a son of Charlotte Belle (Hunter) and Lloyd Vernon Mooney.

Gary was raised on a farm with a vibrant work ethic. He learned a lot of mechanical and building skills on the farm and used that throughout his life. Later in his life, he worked in sales of building materials. 

After he was led to the Lord by Pastor Freeman at Salina Bible Church, he attended Appalachian Bible College in Bradley, West Virginia. 

Gary loved to hunt and fish and did so with family and friends as often as possible. He also collected model vehicles and coins. He always kept up with the repairs of the home and vehicles while he was able. Gary served the Lord through his church wherever he lived.

On March 28, 1969, Gary married Bille Jane Utterback at Crestview Bible Church in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Gary served in the United States National Guard for nine years.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years; sister NetaFaye Gordanier; sisters-in-law Renita Mooney, Kay Robinson, and Carla Rains (Roger); many, many nieces, nephews, grea-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Gail Mooney.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 5th at Village Bible Church in Salina, Kansas with Pastor J.J. Sexton officiating.

Marvin R. Voth, 99, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, after a short hospital stay. Marvin was born April 28, 1923 at his home on the farm in McPherson County to Herman S. and Elizabeth Enz Voth.

He married Linda (Nickel) Voth on Sept. 3, 1947. She passed away in 2011. Marvin, of Goessel, is survived by sons Verney and wife Janice, James and wife Gayle, and Dwight and wife Jane Ann; and daughters LaVera and husband James Parker, and Connie and husband Jake Ward. He had eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is sister Martha Voth, and sisters-in-law MaryAnn Woelk, Norma Duerksen, and Phyllis Nickel. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Willard Voth, Otto Voth, Agnes Goossen, Ella Weinbrenner, Ruby Mastellar, Irene Janzen, and Marie Voth. Marvin was a lifetime farmer, who spent 47 years working the land and operating a dairy. He also raised sheep, cattle, hogs, and chickens at various times. He continued to keep up with crops and farming operations as he became older.

He and wife Linda moved into Goessel in 1994, where they adjusted well to town life. After Linda’s death, he continued to live independently, learning to bake zwiebach and cookies and willingly sharing them with his coffee group and with his family. In 2021, at the age of 98, he moved into Bethesda Home, where he enjoyed socializing with others and attending many activities. His gracious spirit and friendly nature was enjoyed by those around him. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel. The memorial service will be on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Alexanderwohl. She was born October 28, 1934, to Issac A. and Katherine (Flaming) Fast in Carson Township of Cottonwood County, Minnesota. She received her education in a country school and Mountain Lake High School, graduating in 1952. She took an accounting course at Mankato Business School in Mankato, MN. Mary Mae was baptized upon her confession of faith in 1950 and became a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, Mountain Lake, MN. After her marriage, she transferred her membership to Buhler Mennonite Church, Buhler, KS. On October 15, 1955, Mary was united in marriage to Alfred Schmidt at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake, MN. After their marriage, they established their home in Buhler. To this union, one son, Kenneth Duane, was born on October 25, 1956. Mary worked in banking for 34 years in Minnesota, Hutchinson and Buhler, retiring in 2003. She is survived by her two granddaughters Jessica Vaile and Misty (Leo) Xicum Ku; daughter-in-law Cindy; stepgrandson Ryan (Chelsea) Penner; five great-grandchildren, Christian and Connor Vaile, and Kai, Hazel and Koa Xicum; two stepgreat-grandchildren; brother Marlyn (Amanda) Fast; sisters-in-law Marilyn and Janice; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Mae was baptized upon her confession of faith in 1950 and became a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, Mountain Lake, MN. After her marriage, she transferred her membership to Buhler Mennonite Church, Buhler, KS. On October 15, 1955, Mary was united in marriage to Alfred Schmidt at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake, MN. After their marriage, they established their home in Buhler. To this union, one son, Kenneth Duane, was born on October 25, 1956. Mary worked in banking for 34 years in Minnesota, Hutchinson and Buhler, retiring in 2003. She is survived by her two granddaughters Jessica Vaile and Misty (Leo) Xicum Ku; daughter-in-law Cindy; stepgrandson Ryan (Chelsea) Penner; five great-grandchildren, Christian and Connor Vaile, and Kai, Hazel and Koa Xicum; two stepgreat-grandchildren; brother Marlyn (Amanda) Fast; sisters-in-law Marilyn and Janice; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Alfred; son Kenneth; parents; sisters Ardella, Rosella, and Luella; and brothers Peter (Esther), Irvin, and Albert. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2022 at Buhler Mennonite Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Michael W. Jones, 70, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2022, surrounded by family at Brookdale of McPherson where he had resided for the past three months during a short battle with cancer.

Michael was born on August 3, 1952, in McPherson, KS, the son of Robert K. and Velma L. (Rickner) Jones.&nbsp; 

He graduated from North Kingstown, RI High School in 1970.&nbsp; 

He received an associate degree in architectural engineering from State Technical Institute in Memphis, TN. &nbsp;After college, he went to work for a prominent architect, John Millard, Jr., for three years before returning to McPherson, KS in 1976.&nbsp; He then worked for Johns Manville for 38 years, retiring in 2015.

His enjoyments were woodworking, fish keeping (in aquariums), dogs, and Thanksgiving family get togethers.

Survivors include his aunt, Joyce Ricr of Wichita, KS; cousins Glenyce (Tom) Maestas, Cheryl (Numa) Dupont, Darryl (Kathy) Rickner, Norma Sue Rockenbach, Gemma Rickner, Lori (Randy) Hurst, Diane (Brent) Rotha, Denny (Helen) Allison, Dean Allison, Shari (Daryl) Becker, Kim (Tom) Klocek, and Jeff Allison; and many more extended family.

Myron “Bud” Wohler, age 92, died at Advena Living Center in Clay Center, KS on October 23, 2022. He was born in Leonardville, KS on March 21, 1930, to Myron Sr. and Wobina (Leipersberger) Wohler. 

Bud moved with his parents to a farm east of Clay Center where he attended Upper Lincoln School. They later moved to the southwest side of Clay Center, where he attended Redtop also known as Blaine School through 8th&nbsp;grade.&nbsp; He graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1948. 

He married Lucille Largent on June 12, 1949. They made their home outside Clay Center. 

Bud worked for Cities Service Oil Co., Riddle Quarries and substituted for the rural mail routes and city routes at Christmas time, along&nbsp; with farming. He started Grade A Dairy in 1967 and later added Angus cattle.&nbsp; Bud enjoyed going to the pasture to check cows and cut the pesky little cedar trees. 

He also enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Upon his retirement he took up woodworking. 

Bud was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a former member of Dairy Farmers of America, and previously had a seat on the Coop and Rural Water Board. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and son Doug

Linda was an avid reader and never went anywhere without a book. She loved cheering on the Kansas Chiefs. She enjoyed baking and was best known for her ribs and her Texas sheet cake.

Samuel Dean Skelton, 68, Salina, died October 23, 2022 at his home with his family surrounding him. He was born June 12, 1954 in Salina, the son of Frank and Verna (Pancake) Skelton. 

Sam married the former Debi Morrissey in 1991. 

He was a glazier for 30 plus years; the last nine before retiring were in Kansas City.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Mason Hodges.

He is survived by his wife, Debi Skelton, of the home; his children Abbi (Steve) Hodges, Salina, Shannon (Craig) Davidson, Ft. Jones, CA and Chad Bennett, Salina. He has a brother, Greg Skelton and eight grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Sam’s life on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Memorials are suggested to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center, Salina.

Virginia “Ginny” Joyce Denney, 83, of Mulvane, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022.&nbsp; She was born October 1st, 1939, in Hutchinson, Kansas.

She was the daughter of Miles and Ruth Clark.

Ginny was married to Harry Francisco for fourteen years. They had three children together, Cheryl Hedge, Natalie Akin, and Gregory Francisco.

Ginny married Bill Denney in 1971, Bill passed away May 1st, 2006.

Ginny graduated from Great Bend High School in 1957. She was a secretary and typist most of her life. She also sold Avon for 21 years, had a daycare, and was a paraeducator for USD 305.

She was preceded in death by her parents Miles and Ruth Clark, a sister, Phyllis (Chambers) Breckson, 2007, a brother, Larry John Clark who passed at the age of 4 months, and her son, Gregory Francisco, 2003.
