December 11, 1934 - March 15, 2023

Rev. Jesse Patrick, 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, KS. Jesse was born December 11, 1934 on the family farm, north of Marquette, to the late Johan Oscar and Rosa Seattle (Hudson) Patrick.

While attending Bethany College, Jesse met Arlene Ternstrom, whom he married on October 23, 1954.

He was a graduate of Sterling College and Dubuque Theological Seminary. He took graduate courses in ancient history at the University of Nebraska and Iowa State University.

Jesse was ordained as a Presbyterian pastor and served churches in Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Illinois, Arizona (Navajo Reservation), Georgia, and Kansas. After Arlene was ordained in 1980, the couple embarked on a joint ministry.

Jesse was a man of countless interests and abilities, including agriculture, gardening, history, science, and automotive mechanics. He and Arlene instilled in their children a lifelong love of music, learning and service to others.

He is survived by his wife Arlene (Ternstrom) Patrick, children Joleen Allen (David) of La Grange, GA; Kathryn Waters (Richard) of Burlingame, KS; James Patrick of Yuma, AZ; Susan Waked (Noman) of Amman, Jordan; Doris Ludek (Gregory) of Rochester, NY; and Brenda Hockberger (Philip) of Chicago, IL; sister Patricia Roraback; brother Duane Patrick; as well as 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Jesse is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Rose Richard and Joyce Walker; and brothers John and Laurel.

The family wishes to thank Bethany Home staff, residents, friends and caregivers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 24 at First Presbyterian Church of McPherson, 1400 N. Main St., McPherson, KS with Pastor David Kincaide officiating. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg will be held before the funeral service at 9:30 a.m.
