The US National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Saline County, that has officially taken into effect now and will remain until Wednesday of this week.

According to Saline County Emergency Management, water levels for rivers and creeks have continued to rise from Monday's heavy rainfall. It was estimated between 4 to 10 inches of rain have already fallen across the county, leading to&nbsp;flooded roadways in Brookville&nbsp;and&nbsp;many rural routes that are waterlogged or impassable.

Additional rainfall is expected to occur late tonight (Monday, September 8) into Tuesday morning.&nbsp;Scattered showers and storms are possible, mainly east of Saline County.

Moreover, additional showers and storms are expected to develop from the west on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, bringing extra heavy rainfall.

Then late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, another round of storms are possible.

Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, allow extra time for commutes and use alternate routes where needed.

Expected to crest at 26.5 feet late tonight into Tuesday afternoon (Moderate Flood Stage). At this level, widespread agricultural flooding is expected. If high flow continues on the Saline River, water could back up on Mulberry Creek, flooding properties including the KOA campground.

Expected to crest at 26.6 feet late Wednesday morning or early afternoon (Minor Flood Stage).

THE TOP 51) Following a tough 24-21 loss at home to Army, – a game that saw the Wildcats possess the ball for just over three minutes in the second half – K-State now turns it attention to a quick turnaround and Friday night game at Arizona. The contest inside Arizona Stadium kicks off at 8 p.m. (CT) and will be shown on FOX with Jason Benetti (play-by-play), Robert Griffin III (analyst) and Alexa Landestoy (sidelines) on the call.

2) Quarterback Avery Johnson is set to make his 18th-career start under center. The Wichita, Kansas, product enters the game with a 148.9 pass efficiency rating and is 64-of-98 (65.3%) for 763 yards and six touchdowns on the year. He enters the week ranking third nationally in total passing yards (763) and 26th nationally in completions per game (21.3).

3) K-State has seen 12 different players record catches this season, and wide receiver Jayce Brown had a career-best 12 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown against North Dakota, while Jaron Tibbs and Brown each have two touchdown catches on the year. Routh also wanted to ask jurors what they would do if they were driving and saw a turtle in the road.

The judge on Monday approved most of the other questions for jurors submitted by prosecutors.

Routh wore a gray sports coat, red tie with white stripes and khaki slacks, in accordance with Cannon's instructions that he be dressed in professional business attire, and he was partially shackled at the defense table. Three batches of 60 jurors arrived at the federal courtroom in Fort Pierce, Florida, on a staggered schedule Monday and spent the morning filling out questionnaires.

The court has blocked off four weeks for Routh's trial, but attorneys are expecting they’ll need less time.

Jury selection was expected to take three days in an effort to find 12 jurors and four alternates. Opening statements were scheduled to begin Thursday, and prosecutors will begin their case immediately after that.

Prosecutors have said Routh methodically plotted to kill Trump for weeks before aiming a rifle through the shrubbery as Trump played golf on Sept. 15, 2024, at his West Palm Beach country club. A Secret Service agent spotted Routh before Trump came into view. Officials said Routh aimed his rifle at the agent, who opened fire, causing Routh to drop his weapon and flee without firing a shot.

Law enforcement obtained help from a witness who prosecutors said informed officers that he saw a person fleeing. The witness was then flown in a police helicopter to a nearby interstate where Routh was arrested, and the witnesses confirmed it was the person he had seen, prosecutors have said.

Last year, Cannon sided with Trump’s lawyers who said the special counsel who filed the charges was illegally appointed by the U.S. Justice Department. Cannon’s ruling halted a criminal case that at the time it was filed was widely regarded as the most perilous of all the legal threats the president faced before he returned to office last January.

Cannon was a former federal prosecutor who was nominated to the bench by Trump in 2020.

Trump was uninjured, and there’s no evidence that Routh fired his weapon at the golf course. U.S. Secret Service agents stationed a few holes up from where Trump was playing golf noticed the muzzle of an AK-style rifle sticking through the shrubbery that lines the course, roughly 400 yards away. An agent fired, and the gunman dropped the rifle and fled in an SUV, leaving the firearm behind along with two backpacks, a scope used for aiming and a GoPro camera. He was later stopped by law enforcement in a neighboring county.

Trial begins for man accused of trying to assassinate Trump 

WYANDOTTE COUNTY –&nbsp;The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) shared an update on the July 5th death of Charles Adair at the Wyandotte County Detention Center.

In the final autopsy report, the coroner ruled Adair's cause of death as complications of mechanical asphyxia. Contributory factors were noted as hypertensive cardiovascular disease and hepatic cirrhosis due to chronic alcoholism. Adair's manner of death was determined to be homicide.&nbsp;

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on July 5, Charles L. Adair, 50, of Kansas City, Kansas, received medical care in the detention center’s infirmary for a pre-existing wound on his leg.

Preliminary information indicates that when personnel attempted to transfer him back to his cell, Adair caused a disturbance by yelling, refusing to listen to commands, and physically resisting. Multiple sheriff’s deputies responded and handcuffed Adair to gain compliance. They transported him to his cell, where several deputies placed him on the lower bunk. They began attempting to remove the handcuffs, while Adair continued to resist. They gained control, removed the cuffs, and left the cell.

Immediately after, at 8:37 p.m., medical staff were called to evaluate Adair who they found&nbsp; him unresponsive. Life-saving measures were initiated. EMS responded to the facility and continued medical intervention. Despite efforts, Adair was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m.

This week the KBI concluded its investigation and presented findings to the Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office.&nbsp;

 </figure>WYANDOTTE COUNTY –&nbsp;The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) shared an update on the July 5th death of Charles Adair at the Wyandotte County Detention Center.In the final autopsy report, the coroner ruled Adair's cause of death as complications of mechanical asphyxia. Contributory factors were noted as hypertensive cardiovascular disease and hepatic cirrhosis due to chronic alcoholism. Adair's manner of death was determined to be homicide.&nbsp;At approximately 8:30 p.m. on July 5, Charles L. Adair, 50, of Kansas City, Kansas, received medical care in the detention center’s infirmary for a pre-existing wound on his leg.Preliminary information indicates that when personnel attempted to transfer him back to his cell, Adair caused a disturbance by yelling, refusing to listen to commands, and physically resisting. Multiple sheriff’s deputies responded and handcuffed Adair to gain compliance. They transported him to his cell, where several deputies placed him on the lower bunk. They began attempting to remove the handcuffs, while Adair continued to resist. They gained control, removed the cuffs, and left the cell.Immediately after, at 8:37 p.m., medical staff were called to evaluate Adair who they found&nbsp; him unresponsive. Life-saving measures were initiated. EMS responded to the facility and continued medical intervention. Despite efforts, Adair was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m.This week the KBI concluded its investigation and presented findings to the Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office.&nbsp;

The defending 2A State Champs open their title defense on the road at Minneapolis, facing their league foe for the 13th time in the Mitch Gebhardt era.

The Trojans have won eight straight meetings against the Lions, and have outscored their league foe 175-20 in the last three contests, including a 64-14 rout in 2024.

Minneapolis will look to snap that streak under first-year head coach Garrett Galanski, who takes over for Tom Flax, now a member of the coaching staff at Concordia High School.

Southeast of Saline won their second-ever 2A state championship in 2024, capping off a perfect 13-0 season. The Trojans will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their first-ever state title this year, which came back in 2005.

Minneapolis will be eager to get back on the right side of the .500 mark this season after finishing 2024 3-6.

🏈 Trojans travel to Minneapolis to begin 2A title defense

Cold temperatures are expected during the evening hours this weekend, with lows in the 40s.

According to the US National Weather Service (Wichita, KS), after a cold front passed through Central Kansas on early Friday morning, evening lows for tonight and Saturday evening are expected to be from 48-56 degrees.

Temperatures tonight and Saturday evening drop 20-25 degrees below normal, with highs in the 60s for Friday.

Three day weather forecast Salina, September 5 - September 7

Possibilities of scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to occur throughout Central Kansas this evening.

According to the US National Weather Service (Wichita, KS), these storms will gradually increase from the west later tonight and persist through early to mid-evening on Friday. Pockets of heavy rainfall are likely, with a few isolated storms capable of dime to nickel size hail.

Salina has a 68% chance of showers and thunderstorms for tonight.

Another round of thunderstorms anticipated throughout Central Kansas tonight

JoAnn Loree Roy, 89, of Salina, KS, formerly of Stockton, KS, passed away on September 1, 2025, at Pinnacle Park in Salina. She was born on September 20, 1935, in a two-story farmhouse north of Plainville, KS, to Ellis and Ada Louise (Sites) Wolcott.&nbsp;

JoAnn grew up in Plainville and at a young age lost her mother when she passed away in 1938 after the birth of JoAnn’s sister, Janice. From then on, she was lovingly raised by her father and her aunts, Lenna McCune and Leona Bice. She graduated from Plainville High School in 1954.&nbsp;

On May 17, 1954, JoAnn married Clifford Roy at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, KS. They first made their home in Plainville before moving to Albuquerque, NM, where Cliff worked in construction. His career later took them to Wichita, Manhattan, and Wilson, KS. In 1964, they settled in Smith Center and established their own business, Roy’s Crane and Dozer Service. More than two decades later, in 1987, they moved the business to Rooks County, where they purchased a farm and built their home. For over 50 years, JoAnn was a devoted partner in the business - managing the books, helping move equipment, and lending a hand wherever she was needed.&nbsp;

JoAnn had a passion for collecting, especially crocks, pink depression glass, oil lanterns, and antique furniture. She enjoyed gardening, attending auctions, refinishing antiques, reading, watching westerns, and listening to Elvis and all country music. She was deeply patriotic, always displaying the American flag and filling her home with Americana décor. JoAnn delighted in her family’s activities, from sporting events to square dancing with Cliff in their younger years. She had a special love for Christmas decorations and fourth of July fireworks, often sewing handmade flags for her grandchildren’s birthdays. Her grandchildren fondly remember donut runs to Alice’s Bakery during visits to Grandma’s house. Every family member also had a favorite meal or dish she prepared, with dumplings, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, pancakes, and her banana pudding dessert topping the list of most-loved recipes.&nbsp;

JoAnn is survived by her children, Doug Roy of Rose Hill, KS, Tracy (Claudia) Roy of Salina, KS, Corey (Gail) Roy of Norton, KS, Paris (Gerald) Bremer of Otterville, MO, and Gina (Barry) Brooks of Smith Center, KS; brother, Larry (Cynthia) Wolcott of Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren, Piper Simons, Sean (Krista) McIntire, Katharine (Ashton) Draper, Bethany (Spencer) Shirk, Christian Bremer, Megan Bremer, Paige Brooks, Grady (Lindsey) Brooks, and Louis (Payton) Frazier; 10 great-grandchildren, Kloie Simons, Dean Simons, Charlie McIntire, Griffin McIntire, Clara Draper, Calvin Draper, Eleanora Shirk, Mabel Shirk, Solomon Shirk, and Parker Frazier; and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cliff; brother, Eddie (Leah) Wolcott; and sister, Janice (Manuel) Cortez.&nbsp;

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 2:00PM at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be before the service on Friday, 11-1PM at the funeral home in Stockton.&nbsp;

Memorials are suggested to Interim Hospice of Salina and American Diabetes Association and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. 1st, Stockton, KS 67669. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.plumeroverlease.com

A round of severe storms are expected to occur later this evening on Wednesday, September 3 in Salina.

According to the US National Weather Service (Wichita, KS), widely scattered storms are anticipated to occur in Salina from the hours of 4:00 - 7:00 pm. These storms reportedly are expected to develop in Central Kansas, move south and east throughout the evening and nighttime hours.

Accordingly, +2 inch sized hail and 60-70 mph wind gusts are possible.&nbsp;

The US National Weather Service advises you to a plan ahead if you have outdoor activities late this afternoon or early this evening of Wednesday.
