HAYS, Kan. - Kansas Wesleyan Women's Volleyball took the Fort Hays State University Tigers to five sets, but the Coyotes would come up just short, falling in five sets on Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum.

FHSU would win the first set 25-15, then KWU came away with wins 25-23 and 26-24, before Hays won the fourth 25-19, and the deciding set 15-12.

Despite the loss, the Coyotes saw senior hitter <a href="http://kwucoyotes.com/services/go.ashx/f6f95069-5122-4229-927c-1e5607b74c0e?elinkdata=28584">Rylee Serpan</a> become the all-time kills leader in school history. She finished with 16 kills in the match pushing her one beyond Maddy Beckett in the record books. Serpan has 1313 kills in her career.

CHICAGO (AP) — At a Catholic school in Pope Leo XIV’s hometown, fifth graders read comic books about Carlo Acutis' life titled “Digital Disciple.” They draw pictures of what the teenage Italian computer whiz might have had as his cellphone wallpaper. In recent years, Acutis has shot to&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/italy-saint-catholic-millennial-assisi-francis-f3abea4be1c4e57adbe1633733fd671d">near rock star-like fame</a>&nbsp;among many young Catholics, generating a global following the likes of which the Catholic Church hasn’t seen in ages. Much of that popularity is thanks to a concerted campaign by the Vatican to give the next generation of faithful a relatable, modern-day role model, an ordinary kid who used his technological talents to spread the faith.

He’s not a towering world figure like Mother Teresa or St. John Paul II, but rather a “saint next door,” said the Rev. Ed Howe, the pastor at Blessed Carlo Acutis Parish in Chicago’s Northwest Side.

“He’s someone who I think a lot of young people today say, ‘I could be the saint next door,'" Howe said.

Leo, a Chicago native, will declare Acutis a saint on Sunday in his first canonization ceremony, alongside another popular Italian, Pier Giorgio Frassati, who also died young. Both ceremonies had been scheduled for earlier this year, but were&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/vatican-saint-acutis-posponed-9fdb99acaf0296974dc6216851c9167a">postponed following Pope Francis' death</a>&nbsp;in April.

It was Francis who had fervently willed the Acutis sainthood case forward, convinced that the church needed someone like him to attract young Catholics to the faith while addressing the promises and perils of the digital age.

Acutis was precociously savvy with computers long before the social media era, reading college-level textbooks on programming and coding as a youngster and making websites that at the time were the domain of professionals. But he limited himself to an hour of video games a week, apparently deciding long before TikTok that human relationships were far more important than virtual ones.

“Carlo was well aware that the whole apparatus of communications, advertising and social networking can be used to lull us, to make us addicted to consumerism and buying the latest thing on the market,” Francis wrote in a 2019 document. “Yet he knew how to use the new communications technology to transmit the Gospel, to communicate values and beauty.”

Leo inherited the Acutis cause, but he too has pointed to technology —&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/pope-leo-vision-papacy-artificial-intelligence-36d29e37a11620b594b9b7c0574cc358">especially artificial intelligence</a>&nbsp;— as one of the main challenges facing humanity.

Acutis was born on May 3, 1991, in London to a wealthy but not particularly observant Catholic family. They moved back to Milan soon after he was born and he enjoyed a typical, happy childhood, albeit marked by his increasingly intense religious devotion.

In October 2006, at age 15, he fell ill with what was quickly diagnosed as acute leukemia. Within days, he was dead. He was entombed in Assisi, which known for its association with another popular saint, St. Francis.

In the years since his death, young Catholics have flocked by the millions to Assisi, where through a glass-sided tomb they can see the young Acutis, dressed in jeans, Nike sneakers and a sweatshirt, his hands clasped around a rosary. Those who can’t make it in person can watch the comings and goings on a webcam pointed at his tomb, a level of internet accessibility not afforded even to popes buried in St. Peter’s Basilica.

For his admirers, Acutis was an ordinary kid who did extraordinary things, a typical Milan teen who went to school, played soccer and loved animals. But he also brought food to the poor, attended Mass daily and got his less-than-devout parents back to church.

“When I read his story for the first time, it was just like shocking to me, because from a very early age, he was just really drawn to Jesus Christ and he would go to Mass all the time,” said Sona Harrison, an eighth grader at the St. John Berchmans’ school, which is part of the Acutis parish. “I feel like he’s a lot more relatable, and I definitely feel like I’m closer to God when I read about him.”

Acutis earned the nickname “God’s Influencer,” because he used technology to spread the faith. His most well-known tech legacy is the website he created about so-called&nbsp;<a href="https://www.miracolieucaristici.org/en/Liste/list.html">Eucharistic miracles</a>, available in nearly 20 different languages. The site compiles information about the 196 seemingly inexplicable events over the history of the church related to the Eucharist, which the faithful believe is the body of Christ.

Acutis was known to spend hours in prayer before the Eucharist each day, a practice known as Eucharistic adoration.

“This was the fixed appointment of his day,” his mother, Antonia Salzano, said in a documentary that was airing Friday night at the U.S. seminary in Rome.

Kathleen Sprows Cummings, a history professor at the University of Notre Dame, said Acutis’ enormous popularity was clearly the result of a concerted church campaign, pushed strongly by his grief-stricken mother. But she said that is nothing new, and that in the 2,000-year history of the church, saints have very often been pushed ahead to respond to a particular need at a particular time.

“It doesn’t detract from the holiness of the person being honored to say that there are choices that are made” about which cases move forward, she said in a phone interview.

Sprows Cummings said that the Acutis phenomenon caught on because he's attractive to both young people and the institutional church, for using technology in a positive way to spread his profound belief in Eucharistic miracles at a time when many Catholics don’t believe that Christ is truly present in the Eucharist.

“Canonization is about marketing,” said Sprows Cummings, author of “A Saint of Our Own: How the Quest for a Holy Hero Helped Catholics become American.”

“Which stories are going to get told? Who is going to get remembered through this amazingly efficient way of remembering holy people?”

Acutis and his story are ever-present here at the parish named for him. During Mass this week before the canonization, students processed into the chapel under an Acutis banner carrying things he might have carried: a soccer ball, laptop and knapsack.

Howe, the parish pastor and priest of the Congregation of the Resurrection, pulled items out of the knapsack to explain Acutis' story to the youngest students seated up front: A can of food he might have given to a homeless person, a set of rosary beads he might have prayed with.

“He fed the poor, he cared for the poor,” said 9-year-old David Cameron, who called Acutis “a great man.” Cameron, a fan of Sonic, Minecraft and Halo, also found inspiration in Acutis' love of video games — and awe at Acutis' restraint.

“He played video games for like only one hour a week, which I don’t think I can do,” he said.

15-year-old computer whiz is becoming the Catholic Church's first millennial saint

SHAWNEE&nbsp; COUNTY—Law enforcement investigating a deadly shooting in Topeka and have made an arrest.

Just before 5p.m. Wednesday, police&nbsp;responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of NE Poplar Street in Topeka, according to Topeka Police Lt. Ronnie Connell.&nbsp; As officers arrived in the area, they located two men suffering from life-threatening injuries. While on the scene, one individual was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The second was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

As a result of the investigation, Dalton Wolf Thompson, 28, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Murder in the 1st Degree, Attempted Murder in the 1st Degree and&nbsp;&nbsp;Aggravated Battery

This is the 17th homicide investigation of 2025 in the city of Topeka, according to Connell.

CRAWFORD COUNTY—A now former member of the Kansas State University football team is out of jail after an arrest in southeast Kansas.

On Wednesday, police in Arma arrested 19-year-old Darren Jay-Shawn Ross on drug allegations, according to online booking records.

Ross was a member of the Wildcat 2024 recruiting class and played high school football at Liberty North.&nbsp;

Ross was booked into jail just before 3:30a.m. Wednesday on requested charges of distributing marijuana, according to the Crawford County sheriff's web site. He met the requirement of a $15,000 bond and was released just before 7p.m. Thursday.

His bio has been removed from the Kansas State Football website. He did not play in the first two games of the season for the Wildcats.

K-State football player out of jail after arrest in southeast Kansas

Suspected burglary leads to the arrest of a man that allegedly had warrants out of two counties.

According to the Salina Police Department (SPD), earlier this morning officers and county deputies were sent to the 1900 block of W. Grand Ave, regarding a man who was attempting to steal copper from a building.

When authorities arrived, they located a man identified as 45-year old,&nbsp;Brian Glanzer in the area. Allegedly, Glanzer had warrants out of Saline and Ottawa counties before he was taken into custody.

He was booked into the Saline County Jail for the following requested charges of Possession of methamphetamine, Drug paraphernalia and the warrants. 

It was determined by authorities, Glanzer was carrying illegal drugs during his arrest.

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement investigating one of several homicides on Monday in Wichita have made another arrest.&nbsp;

On Wednesday, police arrested a 21-year-old man identified according to Sedgwick County booking records as Lafayette J. Washington for the shooting death of 23-year-old D’Andre Rubio of Wichita, according to a media release from Wichita Police.

The shooting occurred just after 1:34 a.m. in the 100 block of Rock Island. Officers arrived and found Rubio suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives have learned that a disturbance took place before the shooting. The circumstances that led to the incident remain under investigation.

Washinton has been booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on a requested charge of first-degree murder charge, theft of property or services and criminal possession of a weapon a felon.

Richard Frank Eggers, 75, passed away at Sunset Home in Concordia, Kansas, on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was born on October 12, 1949 in Agra, Kansas to Edmond Frank and Betty Irene (Palmer) Eggers.&nbsp;

Richard attended Stockton High School in Stockton, Kansas, graduating in 1967. He studied diesel mechanics at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, KS.&nbsp;

While attending CCCC he met Linda Dusek. They married in 1971, and to this union three daughters were born, Lory, Holly, and Julie. They later divorced.&nbsp;

Richard worked for many years for the City of Belleville as a Municipal Power Plant Operator. He later worked for regional KDOT offices as an Equipment Operator, and retired in 2014.&nbsp;

Richard married Joyce Carter in 1999, where they lived in Ellsworth, Marquette and Salina, but later divorced.&nbsp;

He enjoyed all things horses: breeding registered American Quarter Horses and Paints, exhibiting in halter shows, and trail rides. He loved dancing, pie time at the Kravemore, Louis L’ Amour books, and cheering for K-State athletics.&nbsp;

Richard is survived by his daughters, Lory Allison (Lane) of Overland Park, KS, Holly Eggers of Belleville, KS, and Julie Kreiner (Nick) of Springfield, VA; granddaughters, Bethany Allison and Sydney Allison; siblings, Bob Eggers, Ron (Dana) Eggers, and Debbie Schellinger.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Betty Eggers, sister Shirley Desaire, and brother Terry Eggers.&nbsp;

A memorial service will be held at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with Samantha Stensaas serving as Celebrant. A private family burial will take place at the Belleville City Cemetery at a later date. Armani died at home, the fashion house said. Armani, one of the most recognizable names and faces in the global fashion industry,&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/italy-giorgio-armani-7e74a7edf4e9a23b13e05a0c5bbc8c1e">missed Milan Fashion Week</a>&nbsp;in June 2025 for the first time during the previews of Spring-Summer 2026 menswear to recover from an undisclosed condition. He was planning a major event to celebrate 50 years of his signature Giorgio Armani fashion house during Milan Fashion Week this month.

Starting with an unlined jacket, a simple pair of pants and an urban palette, Armani put Italian ready-to-wear style on the international fashion map in the late 1970s, creating an instantly recognizable relaxed silhouette that has propelled the fashion house for half a century.

From the executive office to the Hollywood screen, Armani dressed the rich and famous in classic tailored styles, fashioned in super-soft fabrics and muted tones. His handsome black tie outfits and glittering evening gowns often stole the show on award season red carpets.

Armani himself was the foundation of his style

Armani style began with Giorgio Armani himself, from the penetrating blue eyes framed in a permanent tan and early-age shock of silver hair, to the trademark jeans and t-shirt work clothes and the minimalist decoration of his private homes.

Armani’s fashion vision was that of easygoing elegance where attention to detail made the difference.

“I design for real people. There is no virtue whatsoever in creating clothes and accessories that are not practical,” he liked to say when asked to identify his clientele.

In conversation, the designer’s disarming smile and exquisitely mild manners belied the tough businessman underneath, who was able to turn creative talent into a fashion empire worth over $10 billion. Never a merger nor a sale, Re Giorgio (King George) as the Italians call him, was always his own boss.

Born July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, a small town south of Milan, Armani dreamed of becoming a doctor before a part-time job as a window decorator in a Milan department store opened his eyes to the world of fashion.

In 1975, Armani and his partner Sergio Galeotti sold their Volkswagen for $10,000 to start up their own menswear ready-to-wear label. Womenswear followed a year later.

So significant was the impact of Armani style, not only on how people dressed but how they approached fashion, that in 2000 New York’s Guggenheim museum presented a retrospective of Armani’s first 25 years in fashion.

“I love things that age well, things that don’t date and become living examples of the absolute best,” Armani said of his efforts.

Today, the Armani empire has an army of more than 9,000 employees, with women comprising half of the executive suite, along with seven industrial hubs and over 600 stores worldwide, according to figures released in 2023. The designer opened his fifth multi-brand store on New York’s fashionable Fifth Avenue in February 2009.

Just after 10p.m. Tuesday, deputies discovered the inmate, according to sheriff's office spokesman Branden Stitt. Detention staff and on-site medical personnel immediately began life-saving measures. Sedgwick County EMS and the Wichita Fire Department responded and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:44 p.m.

The inmate, identified from county booking records as Timothy Reid Cullen was a resident of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and had been in the custody since Jun 21, 2025, on charges of aggravated assault, criminal threat, violation of a protective order, and possession of narcotics.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been notified, and detectives are conducting a thorough investigation.

Preliminary evidence indicates the death was the result of suicide through self-asphyxiation. This incident marks the fifth in-custody death at the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility in 2025.

5th in custody death of 2025 reported at Sedgwick Co. Jail

JoAnn Loree Roy, 89, of Salina, KS, formerly of Stockton, KS, passed away on September 1, 2025, at Pinnacle Park in Salina. She was born on September 20, 1935, in a two-story farmhouse north of Plainville, KS, to Ellis and Ada Louise (Sites) Wolcott.&nbsp;

JoAnn grew up in Plainville and at a young age lost her mother when she passed away in 1938 after the birth of JoAnn’s sister, Janice. From then on, she was lovingly raised by her father and her aunts, Lenna McCune and Leona Bice. She graduated from Plainville High School in 1954.&nbsp;

On May 17, 1954, JoAnn married Clifford Roy at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, KS. They first made their home in Plainville before moving to Albuquerque, NM, where Cliff worked in construction. His career later took them to Wichita, Manhattan, and Wilson, KS. In 1964, they settled in Smith Center and established their own business, Roy’s Crane and Dozer Service. More than two decades later, in 1987, they moved the business to Rooks County, where they purchased a farm and built their home. For over 50 years, JoAnn was a devoted partner in the business - managing the books, helping move equipment, and lending a hand wherever she was needed.&nbsp;

JoAnn had a passion for collecting, especially crocks, pink depression glass, oil lanterns, and antique furniture. She enjoyed gardening, attending auctions, refinishing antiques, reading, watching westerns, and listening to Elvis and all country music. She was deeply patriotic, always displaying the American flag and filling her home with Americana décor. JoAnn delighted in her family’s activities, from sporting events to square dancing with Cliff in their younger years. She had a special love for Christmas decorations and fourth of July fireworks, often sewing handmade flags for her grandchildren’s birthdays. Her grandchildren fondly remember donut runs to Alice’s Bakery during visits to Grandma’s house. Every family member also had a favorite meal or dish she prepared, with dumplings, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, pancakes, and her banana pudding dessert topping the list of most-loved recipes.&nbsp;

JoAnn is survived by her children, Doug Roy of Rose Hill, KS, Tracy (Claudia) Roy of Salina, KS, Corey (Gail) Roy of Norton, KS, Paris (Gerald) Bremer of Otterville, MO, and Gina (Barry) Brooks of Smith Center, KS; brother, Larry (Cynthia) Wolcott of Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren, Piper Simons, Sean (Krista) McIntire, Katharine (Ashton) Draper, Bethany (Spencer) Shirk, Christian Bremer, Megan Bremer, Paige Brooks, Grady (Lindsey) Brooks, and Louis (Payton) Frazier; 10 great-grandchildren, Kloie Simons, Dean Simons, Charlie McIntire, Griffin McIntire, Clara Draper, Calvin Draper, Eleanora Shirk, Mabel Shirk, Solomon Shirk, and Parker Frazier; and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She was born on September 20, 1935, in a two-story farmhouse north of Plainville, KS, to Ellis and Ada Louise (Sites) Wolcott.&nbsp;JoAnn grew up in Plainville and at a young age lost her mother when she passed away in 1938 after the birth of JoAnn’s sister, Janice. From then on, she was lovingly raised by her father and her aunts, Lenna McCune and Leona Bice. She graduated from Plainville High School in 1954.&nbsp;On May 17, 1954, JoAnn married Clifford Roy at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, KS. They first made their home in Plainville before moving to Albuquerque, NM, where Cliff worked in construction. His career later took them to Wichita, Manhattan, and Wilson, KS. In 1964, they settled in Smith Center and established their own business, Roy’s Crane and Dozer Service. More than two decades later, in 1987, they moved the business to Rooks County, where they purchased a farm and built their home. For over 50 years, JoAnn was a devoted partner in the business - managing the books, helping move equipment, and lending a hand wherever she was needed.&nbsp;JoAnn had a passion for collecting, especially crocks, pink depression glass, oil lanterns, and antique furniture. Vicki Lynn Reiter, age 72, of Concordia, KS, died Thursday, June 12, 2025 at her home in Concordia, KS. &nbsp;She was born on June 14, 1952, in Ashland, KS to Victor L. &amp; Evelyn M. (Zwonitzer) Bohling.

Vicki graduated from Concordia High School in 1970 and then graduated from Cloud County Community College and received her RN from Beloit Vo-Tech. &nbsp;She worked as a registered nurse and director of nursing for Heartland Care Center, Belleville, KS, Home Health Care Services, Wichita, KS and later for the pharmacies in Concordia.

She married James “Jimmy” Reiter on March 17, 1984, in Concordia, KS. &nbsp;He preceded her in death on January 3, 2020.

Vicki enjoyed being at home or loved spending time at their cabin at Lovewell Lake along with their friends. Vicki loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles but most of all decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween.

Vicki is survived by her children; Jody Dorman, Wichita &amp; Mechelle Butler, Wichita, Kristie Richardson (Robert), Indianapolis, IN, Kim Brustkern (Ben), Waterloo, IA; sister, Terry Caldwell (Randy), Osborne; sisters in law, Linda Schwartz, Huron, SD &amp; Joy Woodard (Bill), Durango, CO; grandchildren, Kiara, Jazilyn, Tiana, Kaden, Tyler, Gabrielle &amp; Carter; her amazing friends, Greg &amp; Annette Gallagher &amp; Terri O’Connor and her wonderful neighbor, Gena Kearn and a host of other friends and relatives. &nbsp;The family also wanted to recognize Barbara Jones for the love and care she gave to Vicki and was instrumental in keeping her at home, so she could be with her family.

Hunter Lee Simoncic, age 26, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on August 26, 2025, while proudly serving his community as a police officer with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.

Born on April 16, 1999, Hunter grew up on a small farm in Galesburg, Kansas, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family and community. He was accomplished in his academic pursuits, graduating from Erie High School in 2018 and Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology in 2021. His passion for justice and science led him to further his education at Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Master’s in Forensic Science in 2023.

In November of 2023, Hunter fulfilled his calling to public service by graduating from the KCKPD Academy and beginning his career as a police officer. His dedication, courage, and compassion quickly became evident to both his colleagues and the community he served.

Hunter was energetic, adventurous, and full of life. He embraced new experiences wholeheartedly — recently serving as an extra in the Hallmark movie Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story and exploring opportunities in modeling. In his free time, he enjoyed painting, lifting weights, writing his book, and training as an avid CrossFitter at Mission Barbell Club.

Hunter had a heart for giving back. He served as a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City, forming meaningful connections with the youth he mentored. He also volunteered through the Lead to Read program, spending time each week reading to students at Banneker Elementary School — a role he cherished deeply.

Above all, Hunter will be remembered for his kind spirit, his love of family, and his unwavering devotion to serving others both in and out of uniform.

He is survived by his father, Ron Simoncic of Franklin, KS; his mother, Christine Brungardt of Galesburg, KS; his brother, Fischer Simoncic of Wichita, KS; his grandmother, Rose Brungardt of Parsons, KS; and his aunts and uncles, including Rick and Jacque Simoncic of Frontenac, KS and Rod and Denise Fleming of Parsons, KS.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Shirley Simoncic, and Francis Brungardt; and his aunt and uncle, Terri Brungardt and Kirk Brungardt. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, fellow officers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

🎥Funeral service honoring life of Officer Hunter Simoncic

SEDGWICK COUNTY – Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy and continue to search for a second suspect after a 20-year-old man was killed and another was injured in a shooting on North Arkansas in Wichita.

Just after 4:30 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 2100 block of North Arkansas for a reported shooting, according to a media release.

When officers arrived, they found two men inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds in the 600 block of W. 20th Street. Officers, Wichita Fire Department, and EMS personnel provided life-saving measures at the scene.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. At 4:58 p.m., 20-year-old Sebastian Williams was pronounced deceased. The second victim, a 20-year-old man remains hospitalized.

Detectives are working to determine what led to the shooting. A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and booked into the Juvenile Intake Assessment Center (JIAC) on a requested charge of&nbsp; felony murder.

Police continue looking for a second suspect in this case.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and booked into the Juvenile Intake Assessment Center (JIAC) on a requested charge of&nbsp; felony murder.Police continue looking for a second suspect in this case.

Salina Police arrest a suspect for allegedly setting a house on fire.

According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on Monday, September 1 at around 11:30 am, witnesses in the area of the 700 block of N. 8th reported a that a home was on fire.

SPD and the Salina Fire Department (SFD) arrived to the scene and discovered the back of the home was on fire. Nobody was inside during the event of the fire.&nbsp;

SFD determined the cause of fire was by 'arson.'

A witness reported about seeing a man running away from the residence. Afterwards, officers located the possible suspect in the 800 block of N. Broadway. Officers determined the suspect matched the description of the witness report.

Officers noticed the suspect smelled of gas and located methamphetamine on him as well. SPD further arrested 29-year old, Marquis Wellington.

Wellington was booked into the Saline County Jail for the requested charges of Arson and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Suspect arrested for alleged arson in North Salina

Suspect arrested after allegedly choking a woman inside a Salina home.

According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on Sunday, August 31 just after midnight, a 41-year old woman reported a 27-year old man identified as Drew Southern, allegedly assaulted her at a home in the 900 block of S. Santa Fe.

Reportedly, the victim and Southern got into an argument when he allegedly knocked off her glasses, breaking them. Afterwards, Southern then put the victim in a chokehold, restricting her breathing before letting go.&nbsp;

The victim was able to call police shortly after and upon arrival, officers arrested Southern without incident. He was booked into the Saline County Jail on the following requested charges:&nbsp;

Aggravated Domestic Battery, Domestic Battery and Criminal Damage to Property (for breaking the victim's glasses).

SPD stated alcohol was suspected to be factor. 

The victim and Southern were acquaintances.

A woman calls police after driving away from man who was following her throughout Salina.

According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on Saturday, August 30 at around 1:30 pm, a 41-year old woman called SPD regarding a known acquaintance identified as 34-year old, Mark Storms was following her across town in a vehicle.&nbsp;

Before Storms was following her, the woman stated she received around 30 calls from him. The woman was in her vehicle when Storms was following her and she made several turns across town to get away from him.

As she was driving, the woman was on the phone with SPD and advised her to drive towards the police department's station. Storms followed her and when they arrived to the station, officers were on site awaiting their arrival.

Officers then arrested Storms without incident and was booked into the Saline County Jail on the following requested charges:

Salina PD makes arrest after man follows woman across town

SEDGWICK COUNTY— An 80-year-old Kansas woman arrested in connection with a weekend crash that killed two Wichita women is no longer in custody.&nbsp;Clowie Ann McLaughlin of Augusta met the requirement for bond just after 7:30p.m. Sunday and is no longer in the Sedgwick County Jail, according to online jail records.

At approximately 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Central and Webb Road in Wichita, according to Officer Kris Gupilan. A black Chevrolet truck traveling east on Central collided with a white BMW and a gray Jeep that were both traveling south on Webb.&nbsp;

In the BMW were Lashea Bell, 42, and her passenger Aniah Bell, 25, both from Wichita. Lashea Bell was pronounced dead at the scene, while Aniah Bell was transported to a local hospital, where she later died, according to Gupilan.

 </figure>The 41-year-old male driver of the Jeep was treated at the scene and released. The driver of the Chevrolet identified from Sedgwick County booking records as Clowie Ann McLaughlin was taken to a local hospital with injuries. An officer stayed with her, and once she was medically cleared, McLaughlin was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on requested charges that include two counts of second-degree homicide. She bonded out of jail just before 7:30p.m.Sunday, according to online jail records.Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in this crash.The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges.
