Sandzén Gallery
Washburn University pianist Lucy Tan will be performing selections by Beethoven, Chopin, Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, and Chen Yi in the Sandzén Gallery, on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
An exceptional musician, her young performing career began by making a live WGBH radio debut at age 11 on “Morning Pro Musica,” followed by her concert debut at age 12 with the Brockton (Massachusetts) Symphony Orchestra. She was later featured on NPR’s “From the Top” and WBGH’s “Classics in the Morning.”
Currently, Dr. Tan, is active as part of the Washburn University Piano Quartet, and also collaborates with Dr. Zsolt Eder, concertmaster of the Topeka Symphony. She was previously featured in Chamber Music Amarillo’s concert series, was a two-time recipient of the Masonic Cultural Enrichment Grant, was showcased at Grace Episcopal Cathedral’s concert series, and featured on WPTA USA-Missouri’s concert series on the piano sonatas of Mozart.
Dr. Tan received her bachelor and master degrees from the New England Conservatory, and a doctorate in piano performance from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Her past teaching experiences include the New England Conservatory, the University of Colorado in Boulder, and Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Currently, she is the Director of Keyboard Studies at Washburn University in Topeka, where she teaches applied piano and a number of keyboard courses.
The Sandzén Gallery is located at 401 North First Street in Lindsborg. There is no charge for the concert, however, donations are appreciated.
