David Randal Dauber was born on March 20, 1972, in Salina, Kansas. He passed away on September 8, 2025, in Austin, Texas.

David’s passing was due to a medical condition that he lived with throughout his life.

He is survived by his life partner, Terri Stellar, of the home; his grandfather, Elmo Dauber of Salina, KS; his mother, Gayle Swanson, of the home; his father, Danny (Sue) Dauber of Salina, KS; his sister, Courtney (Gill) Carlson of Derby, KS; his son, Denver Dauber, of the home; and his niece, Tycee, also of the home.

Fulfilling David’s lifelong wish to give forward, his donation through the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) enabled the gift of life to others. Through the donation of his kidneys and pancreas, David saved three lives.

Kathryn J. (Shepard) Jones, 74, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center.

She was born August 2, 1951, the daughter of Joe and Delilah (England) Shepard. Kathy graduated from Brown Mackie College, Salina.

Kathy was a custodian at McPherson High School and also worked as a dietician at McPherson Hospital.

Survivors include children, Bart (Mary Anne) Jones of Wichita, KS and Katrina (Jody) Kipp of Elizabethtown, KY; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Rubye Slye.

A private family gathering will be held.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kathryn J. (Shepard) Jones

Travis was born on February 11, 1980, and left us far too soon on September 6, 2025, at the age of 45. To all who knew him, Travis was a bright light—his laughter was infectious, and his voice grew increasingly louder, especially when he was talking about his kids, whom he loved more than anything.

From a young age, Travis’s heart belonged to the farm. He was his dad’s shadow, tagging along for chores and climbing onto tractors before he could even see over the steering wheel. When his brother Aaron arrived, Travis gained not just a sibling but a lifelong best friend. Together, they turned the farm into their playground—building forts out of hay bales, wrestling in the loft, and playing with their robust collection of miniature farm equipment, even sometimes letting “Sis” play too. They had many adventures together, and while their ideas weren’t always the best their loyalty to each other was unwavering. Travis was the kind of big brother who always had Aaron’s back, through every high and low.

As he grew older, Travis and his dad shared many early mornings hunting pheasants and deer, memories that became cherished traditions. He later became a hunting guide, hunting birds with his dog Missy, and sharing this love with friends from near and far.

Racing was another passion that ran deep. As a boy, Travis watched Uncle Jeff’s race car compete at the track, dreaming of the day he’d race himself. That dream came true, and he spent countless weekends at local tracks, cheered on by two of his favorite pit crew members—his kids, Hannah and Hunter (lovingly called Harv). Through racing, Travis made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories.

Above all, Travis was a devoted father. He adored Hannah and Hunter, and nothing made him prouder than watching them grow. He loved taking them out on the tractor and combine, sharing his passion for farming with Hunter and beaming at Hannah’s accomplishments and her radiant smile.

Words can’t capture all that Travis meant to his family and friends. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. He will be deeply missed by his father, Tracy Coop of Portis; his mother Kay Mercer and husband Mike of Edmond, OK; his beloved children, Hannah and Hunter, and their mother Ashley Campbell of Cawker City. Also mourning his loss are his sister Jenae Sherrod and husband Scott of Edmond, OK; his grandmother Bonnie Coop of Osborne; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends and extended family. Travis is preceded in death by his brother, Aaron Coop.

A memorial service to celebrate Travis’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, at 10:00am at the United Methodist Church in Osborne, KS.

There will be a luncheon following the celebration of life service at the Sims Event Center and the family would welcome side dish donations be brought.

Travis James Coop

Danny Bacon was born on December 28, 1958, at St. Thomas Hospital in Colby, Kansas, to Lloyd “Red” and Ila “Jean” (Lowrey) Bacon. He spent his childhood in Rexford, Kansas, and began 8th grade at Hoxie Grade School in 1972. He graduated with the Hoxie High School Class of 1977.&nbsp;

After high school, Danny worked at Tebo Implement in Hoxie for a year before attending Salina Vo-Tech, where he graduated in 1980 as a diesel mechanic. He was a loyal friend to all—always willing to lend a hand to a classmate or neighbor in need.&nbsp;

In 1981, Danny began working for Western Geophysical, a job that took him around the world. In 1985, he moved to Chanute, Kansas, where he worked at McGuire Implement. He later co-owned Tom’s Automotive, where he specialized in transmission work and restoring old vehicles.&nbsp;

Danny’s career path took another turn in 1997 when he began delivering food for Schwan’s. In 2002, he joined the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) in Grainfield, eventually transferring to the Hoxie office, where he remained until his retirement in May 2024.&nbsp;

One of the most memorable chapters of Danny’s life began in 1995 during a hunting trip in Plainville, Kansas. After dining at the Prairie Hotel, he left his phone number for a beautiful waitress named Ronda. A few days later, she decided to call. That call changed everything. Ronda and her daughter Ashley soon moved to Chanute with Danny, and he and Ronda were married on June 19, 1997, at the Assemblies of God Church in Chanute.&nbsp;

Danny and Ronda welcomed two children: Bryce L. Bacon, born July 26, 1997, and Danielle Bacon, born March 23, 2006. The family later moved to Hoxie and purchased the Hoxie Motel. Over the years, the motel welcomed guests from all over, but Danny especially cherished the friendships he made with the faithful hunters from Northeast Kansas. He loved the early mornings, and late nights spent chasing waterfowl.&nbsp;

Though Danny had a deep passion for mechanics, his greatest love was for his family and his Lord Jesus Christ. He treasured every moment spent with them—especially hunting and fishing with his kids and grandkids and serving the Lord. Known for his almost exclusive camo wardrobe, it was rare to see him wearing anything else.&nbsp;

Danny was a storyteller with a gift of gab—if he said he needed to talk, you knew to clear your schedule. He never met a stranger, always had a tool to lend, and was known for “collecting everything” because, as he’d say, “you never know when you might need it.”&nbsp;

Danny leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, laughter, and love. He was a man who lived with intention and gave generously of his time, talents, and heart.&nbsp;

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.&nbsp;

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Henry “Red” and Ila “Jean” Bacon.&nbsp;

He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Ronda of the home; children, Ashley Breese and husband Andrew of Topeka, Kansas; Bryce Bacon and Raelyn Kelly- Stone of Hoxie, Kansas and Danielle Bacon of Hoxie, Kansas; sister, Marcy Gilbert and husband Keith of Rexford; grandchildren, Talon and Trace Breese and Serenity.&nbsp;

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Hoxie Christian Church, 1025 Queen Ave., Hoxie, Kansas. Visitation will be at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home in Hoxie on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. A lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Burial will follow the lunch at 1:30 PM in the Rexford Cemetery, Rexford, Kansas.&nbsp;

Sammy G. “Sam” Seymore, AKA “Pippin” the Clown, 89, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, with family by his side at Pine Village, Moundridge.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sam was born April 29, 1936, in Hampton, AR, the son of Curtis and Glenna Seymore. He received doctorate degrees in music and education from University of Montana and Wichita State University.&nbsp; He was a retired Hutchinson Community College music professor.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church, Kansas Silver Haired Legislature, and was a judge for Kansas City BBQ Association. He was also a Master Story Teller and belonged to the Wichita Magic Association. He was an avid pool player, private pilot, and world adventurer.

Survivors include his sons, Steve Seymore and Mark Seymore; grandson, Sean &amp; Kelsi Seymore of Wichita, KS; great-grandsons, Shepherd Seymore and Porter Seymore; and former wife, Charla Seymore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy James Thompson; daughter, Susan Seymore; and former wife, Carolyn Seymore.

The funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Mills officiating.&nbsp; Cremation will follow the service.

Ella Gertrude Kresky of Salina, Kansas passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Ella was very energetic 92-year-old and still living a full and joy filled life from her home at the time of her passing.&nbsp;

Ella was born on January 21, 1933, to Pete and Gertrude Christner on a farm near Lost Springs, Kansas. She was baptized April 6, 1947, in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Lost Springs, KS. Living in rural America, Ella grew up on a farm without electricity and indoor plumbing. While growing up, she discovered the life-long hobbies of singing and playing the piano and organ. As an adult, she was a member of the Staccato Notes and the Dizzy Fingers music clubs.&nbsp;

Upon graduation from high school, she moved to Salina, Kansas, where she was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone. She soon met the love of her life, Bob Kresky, and they married in 1953. Life began in a small apartment, moving to a new home in 1958, then another new home in 1960. This home became the family hub for the remainder of Ella’s life. Bob passed away in 1997. Ella and Bob had a remarkable marriage. They were not just husband and wife – they were best friends. Until her last breath, Ella fondly remembered their many trips around North America, visiting 49 states and most of Canada.&nbsp;

Ella and Bob started their family in January 1955. They were blessed with 3 sons. At that time, Ella became a full-time home maker, a role which she proudly fulfilled. She was a Room Mother for all 3 boys during grade school and was involved with PTA from grade school through high school.&nbsp;

As the children progressed through high school, Ella decided to return to the workforce. She worked for 13 years for USD 305 in food service. After that, she worked for Salina Regional Health Center for many years as a cook until her retirement in 2005, at the age of 72. Then, Ella turned her talents to volunteering at the Information Desk until 2020. Many among us have either eaten her cooking or have been greeted by her happy smile at Salina Regional.&nbsp;

Ella was very involved in her church, working funeral dinners and Wednesday night suppers into her 90’s, as well as having served on the Fellowship Committee. She also enjoyed crocheting and being a part of the TLC prayer groups. Ella’s strong faith and her involvement brought much joy to her life.&nbsp;

Ella had many hobbies throughout the years. Besides those already mentioned, she also enjoyed oil painting and ceramics. She was a voracious reader and, of course, she greatly enjoyed keeping up with her friends – even when COVID pushed her to learn Facebook and Zoom.&nbsp;

Ella was known for her positive attitude, helpfulness, being accepting and kindhearted. Her energy and spirit were known to many. Her joyful presence will be sorely missed.&nbsp;

Family was a constant theme throughout Ella’s life. She was the glue that held us all together. She had a sympathetic ear for all. Christmas Eve is THE holiday for the Kresky family, with all gathering together for Ella’s legendary chicken noodle soup. This was followed by attending church service.&nbsp;

Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 1997, her parents Pete and Gertrude Christner and her brothers Harold Christner and Leroy Christner.&nbsp;

Ella is survived by her 3 sons, Steve (Debbie) Kresky, Tim (Kathy) Kresky, and Dana (Kari) Kresky, her grandchildren, Courtney (Zack) Kempke, Ryan Kresky, Brandon (Leslie) Kresky, Melissa Kresky, Jacob Kresky, Connor Kresky and great grandchildren Christina Kempke and Thomas Kempke, Mackenzie Kresky, and Robyn Kresky, a brother Wendel (Debi) Christner, many nieces, nephews and friends.&nbsp;

Susan Gay Sterling, age 73, entered into rest while surrounded by her children on September 8, 2025, at the Plaza West Regional Health Center, Topeka, Kansas. She was born September 10, 1951, in Topeka, Kansas to Frank and Mary Ann Pfister

Susan graduated from Clifton High School. Susan also went on to graduate from Cloud County Community College, Concordia, Kansas.

She married Kale Sterling on Nov. 27, 1989, in Reno, NV. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2015.

She was a member of the Concordia Wesleyan Church. She worked as a case manager at Pawnee Mental Health, retiring in 2016.

Susan enjoyed watching her kids wrestle, play ball, and horse riding, going for walks, and tending to her vegetable garden. Most of all, she loved spending time with her loving grandchildren.

Susan Gay Sterling

Leslie Louise Christopher—better known to all as Lisa—was born March 31st, 1954, to George H. Clark and Ruth (Ellis) Clark in Pasadena, California.

From the very beginning, Lisa’s name carried a story. Her brother Chris, at 2 ½, couldn’t say his “L’s”. Their parents took pity on him and began calling her Lisa (“Yisa” for Chris) before they had even left the hospital.&nbsp;

Lisa was raised in a tight-knit, loving Christian family filled with warmth, joy, and deep faith. She credited her father’s listening ear and thoughtful insights as instrumental in shaping her spiritual life.

Some of her fondest childhood memories included family camping trips—exploring, fishing, canoeing, hiking, singing in the car, and making her dad laugh so hard he had to be put to bed. She especially cherished evenings around the campfire, listening to her father’s “Well, Sir” stories, each beginning with his signature phrase: “Well, sir…”

As a child, Lisa fell in love with Shirley Temple movies, sparking a lifelong desire to learn tap dancing—a dream that would take many years to fulfill.

In high school, Lisa focused on creative writing and art. Her senior year marked her first foray into drama, landing a role that gave a boost of confidence and ignited her passion for performance.

Around this time, she met Jim Christopher, a smiley, handsome Air Force lieutenant from Kansas, at church, and was swept off her feet, leading to a combined high school graduation and engagement party.&nbsp;

They married on May 5th, 1973, and lived in California through the remainder of Jim’s military service. Their first child, April Marie Christopher, was born in 1974. When Jim went on inactive reserve in 1976, they moved to Kansas to begin taking over the family farm.

At that point, Lisa’s only associations with Kansas were the dismal black and white landscapes depicted in The Wizard of Oz. When asked how Jim convinced her to leave California, she replied, “I had so many hearts in my eyes I would have followed him anywhere.”&nbsp;

That same year, they had their second child, Aaron James Christopher. And four years after that, they had “one more just for fun”, Adam Ross Christopher.&nbsp;

Lisa inspired self-expression, imagination, and wonder in her children. She played with them daily and lamented the arrival of the school bus—her “big yellow monster”—that took her playmates away.&nbsp; She was instrumental in instilling in them a deep appreciation for silliness through her own offbeat sense of humor, as well as classics such as Stan Freberg’s "United States of America" and the parody music of Spike Jones.&nbsp;

Amidst raising three young children, Lisa became involved in Lindsborg’s community theater program, Broadway RFD. It was there, in rural Kansas of all places, that she finally fulfilled her lifelong dream to learn how to tap dance. She performed in numerous productions, taking on both leading and supporting roles. She also became an avid Shirley Temple impersonator and was known as Miss Enthusiasm at annual Covenant Women’s retreats, serving as a comedic icebreaker for speakers.

Lisa later served as the assistant director and then director of theater at Smoky Valley High School for 25 years, building lasting bonds with many of the students. Additionally, she directed several Broadway RFD productions, inspiring and deepening a love of theater in countless others.&nbsp;

Together, Lisa and Jim served as church youth leaders for various age groups, with a special fondness for high schoolers. They continued sponsoring their church’s high school youth group long after their own children had graduated. A highlight of this ministry was the annual ski trips to Colorado—adventures brimming with laughter and lifelong memories.

In 1991, in addition to being a member of the Lindsborg Swedish Folkdanslag with Jim, Lisa became the dance director of the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers, a role she would continue for twenty years. She traveled with the group on their annual cross-country trips and to Sweden every four years, trips she treasured deeply for the opportunity to see places she might never have otherwise visited.

In her later years, Lisa developed a passion for genealogy, meticulously mapping her and Jim’s family ancestry. She became an avid scrapbooker and hosted scrapbooking parties with dear friends several times a year. She also gifted her time to TACOL thrift store, where she quickly built strong friendships with the other volunteers.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Throughout her life, right up to the very end, Lisa exuded a joy and exuberance to all around her, including family, friends, acquaintances, and total strangers, fueled by her unwavering faith in the love of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In her final days, Lisa expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love, care, support, and mountains of food from so many across her community.&nbsp; She reflected:&nbsp; “You just don’t realize the impact your life has had on others' lives.&nbsp; You don’t realize how many friends you’ve made in your life until they are all coming at once, wanting to see you, wanting to do whatever they can. It is a profound blessing.”&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lisa is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth, and father, George.&nbsp; She is survived by her brother, Chris; her husband, Jim; her children, April, Aaron, and Adam; and her grandchildren, Ariel, Anders, Annika, and Yma.&nbsp;

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Lindsborg Covenant Church.&nbsp; The memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 20, at the Lindsborg Covenant Church with Rev. Jeff Waugh officiating.&nbsp; A private graveside service will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Leslie Louise Christopher

Patricia Lynn (Maddy) Mitchell of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 10, 1940, in Norton, Kansas, Patricia lived a life marked by compassion, service, and a love for adventure.

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband,&nbsp;Erwin Mitchell, whom she married on October 30, 1964; her son,&nbsp;Douglas Mitchell; her parents,&nbsp;Lloyd and Lorraine (Ervin) Maddy; and her brother,&nbsp;Ronald Maddy.

She is survived by her loving children,&nbsp;Teri Mitchell&nbsp;and&nbsp;Bradley Mitchell; her son-in-law,&nbsp;Zell Woodworth; and four grandchildren.

Patricia earned a&nbsp;Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Hays State University&nbsp;and went on to dedicate her career to serving others. She worked for many years as a social worker before becoming the&nbsp;Director of KVRC (Kansas Vocational Rehabilitation Center), where she helped individuals find hope and opportunity through vocational support.

In addition to her professional work, Patricia was a volunteer and advocate for senior citizens in the Salina area, always willing to lend a hand or a kind word.

Patricia had a zest for life and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She loved&nbsp;fishing, camping, and&nbsp;traveling in her RV with her beloved dog,&nbsp;Molly. A proud and active member of&nbsp;RVW (RVing Women), she explored much of the United States, making friends and creating lasting memories along the way.

Patricia also enjoyed riding her Harley and was a member of the&nbsp;Salina Harley Club, enjoying the thrill of the open road with the same passion she brought to every part of her life.

She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and adventurous spirit. Her legacy of service and love will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E. Neal Ave, Salina, KS.

Lonny K. Abell, age 61, was born on July 27, 1964, to Larry Kent Abell and Jeanne Marie (Quade) Abell, &nbsp;in Hastings, NE. He passes away on September 10 at Lincoln Park Manor in Lincoln, Ks.

After his dad, Larry, got killed in a construction accident when he was a few mo. old they moved back to Lincoln, Ks. They lived there until after his little brother, Randall was born. Then they moved to Salina, Ks. Where he went to school. He loved to cook and was employed as a cook at the new Salina Surgical, where he opened up the kitchen and cooked for the patients and staff there. He also cooked at the Elks Lodge, Salina Country Club and the Bi-Centennial Center, where he cooked for the many acts that played there. He sold some of his recipes to the Food Network and even Emeril Lagasse used some of his recipes on his show. Some of his recipes are used in a food truck in Chicago, IL. &nbsp;He was an artist and drew or painted many pictures. He loved his family and children. He also worked for a time at Ovation Cabinetry before he had to quit work due to a disability. &nbsp;He loved to fish and has the state record of the largest rainbow trout caught. He caught that fish at Lakewood lake in Salina. &nbsp;He also was a musician and played in a band. In 2019 he became paralyzed and had to go into a nursing home and eventually ended up at Lincoln Park Manor, Lincoln, Ks, where he lived until death.

He is preceded in death by his grand parents, Raymond and Alice Buernice Abell, and Adolph and Wilma Quade. His mother, Jeanne M. (Quade) Abell, Potts and his girlfriend, Kim.

He is survived by his children, Brittany Beikmann, and Seth Abell; brothers Randall Abell and Jon Potts and sister Jennifer Swanson. Along with uncles and aunts and cousins. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Cremation was chosen and memorial service will be planned at a later date.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Services were entrusted to Heier Scott Mortuary and Cremations, 1920 East Crawford Street, Salina, Kansas 67401.

Gennieve Ruth Ann House, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Riverview Estates in Marquette, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 10, 1944, at Asbury Hospital, Salina, Kansas, to Arthur and Fannie Ruth House.

Ruth Ann attended Salina public schools.&nbsp; She earned her G.E.D. and then enrolled at Brown Mackie College graduating with a Business Management degree. &nbsp;Ruth Ann’s first job was working for the Brookville Hotel for room and board.&nbsp; While in Brookville, she met Lester Neil Olson at the grocery store in Brookville.&nbsp; Ruth Ann and Neil married January 10, 1961 and raised three children, Julia, Christina, and Jared.&nbsp; They lived in Brookville, Carnero, and Roxbury before finding a long-term home on a farm East of Salina, Kelley’s Land and Livestock, owned by Byrne Kelley.&nbsp; Following Byrne’s death and the sale of the farm, Ruth Ann and Neil moved to Salina, and divorced a few years later.

Ruth Ann was a homemaker and loving mother raising their children.&nbsp; She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, bowling on a league with Joyce Zimmerman, Minnie Hoefner, and Betty Barnes, playing darts, and going out dancing with Neil and their friends.&nbsp; Ruth Ann was proud to be a 4-H sewing leader and was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.&nbsp; She made wedding cakes, did wallpapering, and fed wheat harvest crews.&nbsp; Later in life, she enjoyed painting and a variety of arts and crafts projects.

Ruth Ann began her career working outside the home at Anthony’s Clothing store in Salina.&nbsp; While working toward her Business Management degree, she was hired by Headley’s Clothing Store and Shelton’s ladies clothing store as a bookkeeper.&nbsp; When the stores consolidated and moved to a new location as Joseph P. Roth &amp; Sons, she continued her employment as Office Manager and performed many other duties including sales, alternations, and gift wrapping (she said you only need 3 pieces of tape to wrap a package. Any more than that was wasteful.) Ruth Ann left employment at Joseph P. Roth &amp; Sons to manage the Salina Credit Bureau.&nbsp; She was a member of Credit Women International and served as president for 1981-1982.&nbsp; 

After leaving the Salina Credit Bureau, Ruth Ann moved to Saint Louis and worked for a doctor’s office processing insurance claims.&nbsp; When she returned to Salina, she left the business sector and began a second career of helping people.&nbsp; Ruth Ann began volunteering for the State of Kansas Social Rehabilitation Services (SRS) Salina office working in an administrative assistant position supervised by Becky Gassman.&nbsp; She transitioned to field work in the Family Preservation Unit servicing the Enterprise area and then transferred to a position with the Wichita SRS office.&nbsp; Ruth Ann retired from the Wichita SRS office on March 17, 2010. &nbsp; Following retirement, she enjoyed being able to spend more time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working at The City teen center on weekends when it opened in Salina, taking charge of concessions serving Salina’s kids and also cleaned the facility after hours. 

&nbsp;Ruth Ann was preceded in death by Neil Olson; their infant daughter; grandmother, Mattie Bussart; mother, Fannie Ruth Werst; father, Arthur Alexander House; brother, Albert Sylvester House, brother Edward (Eddie) House; granddaughter, Shelby Olson; son-in-law, Thomas Goding; and son-in-law Larry Hardesty.

Survivors include her children: Julia Hardesty, Christina Goding, and Jared Olson all of Salina; grandchildren, Nathan Hardesty (Christa), of Shawnee, Stephanie Hardesty, of Salina, Justin Goding (Chelsey), of Bastrop, Texas, Cody Goding (Meghan), of Ellsworth, Tyler Goding (Brianna), of Kanopolis, Elizabeth Olson, of Hutchinson, Courtney Leis (Derek), of Hutchinson, Marissa Jenkins (Joe), of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; 14 great-grandchildren; a stepsister, Ruby Sweeler; a stepbrother, Larry Hoyt; two half-brothers, Arthur E. Janice A. Baccus, 78, Ada, died Monday, September 8, 2025, at Oakview at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. Janice was born August 18, 1947, Concordia, to John A. and Shirley (Stelter) Van Dame.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Janice and Larry K. Baccus were united in marriage on August 21, 1966, and he preceded her in death on December 4, 2000. Janice was the owner of Baccus Repair for many years. Janice enjoyed working at Dillard’s for several years before retirement. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Ada.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Besides Larry, she was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Survivors are her children, Kala Bruce and her husband, Jason and Kay Baccus and his wife, Amy; grandchildren, Allie, Taylor, and Riley; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Delilah, Kaiden, and Tiegan.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Janice A. Baccus

Bobby “Bob” L. Kuhlmann quietly passed from this earth on Monday, September 1st, 2025, at 3:30 AM. His passing was peaceful, following a long season of heartbreak after the loss of his beloved wife, Junietta “June” (Haas) Kuhlmann, on November 1st, 2024. Theirs was a love that spanned more than six decades, and since her departure, Bob’s heart never fully mended. He suffered a heart attack in January of this year and had battled illness in the months that followed until he was called home.

The world feels smaller without Bob, a man whose steady presence was a source of comfort, laughter, and strength. Born on August 20th, 1943, in Athol, Kansas, to Clarence “Sam” and Geraldine “Geri” (Prosser) Kuhlmann, Bob grew up in Athol and carried with him the values of hard work, integrity, and resilience that defined his life.

For many years, he worked as a mechanic at Kaser Implement before starting his own business, K &amp; S Repair. Even after “retirement,” Bob continued to assist Rex Johnson with heavy equipment jobs up until just a year prior to his passing. He truly loved to work and found purpose in staying busy with his hands and mind.

Bob enjoyed life outdoors under the wide Kansas sky. Whether hunting, fishing, camping, or working on projects, he found joy and peace in fresh air and open spaces. When indoors, he loved to relax and watch an old western or a game of cards with friends or family, filling many evenings with laughter.

Bob and June’s story began when they were just teenagers, 15 and 19, and together they built a life rooted in love and shared dreams. On December 19th, 2023, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflected their enduring partnership and the unwavering bond they carried through every season of life.

Those who knew Bob will remember his clever humor, his generous heart, and the way he poured himself fully into his passions. His presence was steady, his loyalty unshakable, and his love for his family immeasurable. He was happiest surrounded by those he loved, sharing stories, laughter, and life’s simple pleasures.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Junietta “June” Kuhlmann; parents, Clarence “Sam” Kuhlmann, and Geraldine “Geri” Kuhlmann; his brothers, Jim, Dennis, Larry, and infant Jackie Kuhlmann; grandson, Adam Kuhlmann; and granddaughter, Jackie Royer (Kuhlmann).

He is survived by his children, Rick (and Janene) Kuhlmann, Lee (and Rhonda) Kuhlmann, Bobby (and Michelle Searles) Kuhlmann, and Junetta (and Eric) Nopens; his 7 grandchildren, Ryan (and Maria) Kuhlmann, Kaylee Kuhlmann, Emilee Kuhlmann, Megan Kuhlmann (and Darren Stokes), Zane (and Kaylene) Kuhlmann, Jerica (and Logan) Sprick, and Jett Nopens; and his 10 great-grandchildren. Others surviving Bob include his lifelong friend, “brother-from-another-mother,” Roger (and Donna) Macy, along with dearly loved extended family and friends, each of whom will carry his spirit forward in their own lives.

Bob will be remembered not just as a husband, father, grandfather, or great-grandfather, but as the heart of his family, a man whose steadfast love and quiet strength left a lasting imprint on every life he touched. His laughter, wisdom, and hardworking hands will be deeply missed, yet forever cherished.

His passing was peaceful, following a long season of heartbreak after the loss of his beloved wife, Junietta “June” (Haas) Kuhlmann, on November 1st, 2024. Theirs was a love that spanned more than six decades, and since her departure, Bob’s heart never fully mended. He suffered a heart attack in January of this year and had battled illness in the months that followed until he was called home.The world feels smaller without Bob, a man whose steady presence was a source of comfort, laughter, and strength. Born on August 20th, 1943, in Athol, Kansas, to Clarence “Sam” and Geraldine “Geri” (Prosser) Kuhlmann, Bob grew up in Athol and carried with him the values of hard work, integrity, and resilience that defined his life.For many years, he worked as a mechanic at Kaser Implement before starting his own business, K &amp; S Repair. Even after “retirement,” Bob continued to assist Rex Johnson with heavy equipment jobs up until just a year prior to his passing. He truly loved to work and found purpose in staying busy with his hands and mind.Bob enjoyed life outdoors under the wide Kansas sky. Whether hunting, fishing, camping, or working on projects, he found joy and peace in fresh air and open spaces. When indoors, he loved to relax and watch an old western or a game of cards with friends or family, filling many evenings with laughter.Bob and June’s story began when they were just teenagers, 15 and 19, and together they built a life rooted in love and shared dreams. On December 19th, 2023, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflected their enduring partnership and the unwavering bond they carried through every season of life.Those who knew Bob will remember his clever humor, his generous heart, and the way he poured himself fully into his passions. His presence was steady, his loyalty unshakable, and his love for his family immeasurable. Bobby “Bob” L. Kuhlmann

Sandy passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, in Salina, Kansas at the home she shared with her brother Mic at her side. 

She valiantly fought dementia for several years. Sandra Sue McDermott was born to Donna Jean nee Shuler and Joseph Henry “Corky” McDermott on May 5, 1948, in Keokuk, Iowa. She married James M. Farrell on September 16, 1967, in Keokuk. 

Together they raised their three sons. Sandy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Relief Society and was the director of the Salina Family History Center for many years. Genealogy wasn’t just her hobby; it was her passion. She was also a member of the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society. Sandy had a talent for quilting. She was a gentle natured, compassionate, sweet woman, quick to smile, and a friend to all. Sandy possessed Christ-like attributes framed with a strong testimony of her loving Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father, mother, and stepfather, Thomas H. Sinnott. 

She is survived by her family whom she loved with all her heart: her brother and caregiver, Mic McDermott; her sons: Tom (Kynda) Farrell of Syracuse, Utah; John Farrell of Keokuk, Iowa; Phillip (Nicole) Farrell of Donnellson, Iowa; grandchildren: Megan (Ethan) Warnick, Julie (Ashton) Durbin; Josh Farrell; Hailey Farrell; and Lila Anderson; great-grandchildren: Kvothe and Vin Warnick; and nephews: Ryan McDermott and Rod McDermott.

Services will be held at the Salina Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 845 S. Ohio, 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be at the Frazee Cemetery, Wayland, Missouri.

Gary Ray Clarkson, 82, of Assaria, Kan., passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025. He was born and raised in Larned, Kan., to parents, George Raymond and Blanche (Walton) Clarkson.

Gary was united in marriage to Judith “Judy” Litchfield on July 29, 1967. They resided in Kansas and Colorado, where Gary worked for Raytheon and Beech Aircraft for over 35 years.&nbsp;

Gary was a jack-of-all-trades who could fix anything. He had a love of dogs and old cars and enjoyed riding his Harley. Gary was an avid hunting and fishing outdoorsman. He was a Hunter Safety Instructor for 35 years and was inducted into the Kansas Hunter Education Hall of Fame in 2012, alongside his son, Shannon. He was a proud 20-plus year cancer survivor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Bruce Clarkson, Peggy Brannan, and Nancy Chapman.

Survivors include his wife of over 58 years, Judy; twin sons, Shannon (Terri) and Matthew (Christy); grandchildren, Hunter and Blake Clarkson, and Makayla Farmer, Jaidan Hickman, Erykah Corley, Grace Hardin, Alix Engle, Hannah Clarkson, Ryin Engle, and Trey Clarkson; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda Mollnow (Dan) and Mike Clarkson (Renia); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.

Mary Charlotte Holmes, 83, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Alabama, on August 21, 1942, Mary lived a life marked by devotion to her family and quiet joys. 

After graduating high school, she held various jobs, including working as a secretary for her husband, Donald Holmes, whom she married in 1986. In later years, she found fulfillment in caring for her home and family, a role she embraced with warmth and grace.

Mary had a gentle spirit and a love for nature, especially birdwatching. Cardinals were her favorite, and she found joy in spotting them in her backyard. She also enjoyed coloring beautiful pictures on her iPad, a hobby that brought her peace and creativity.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald; and her three daughters, Cindy Capps, Deanna Miller (Bernelle), and Ronda Fencil. Mary also leaves behind numerous grandchildren who will cherish her memory and the love she gave so freely.

She was preceded in death by her parents.At this time, no services are planned.

Mary Charlotte Holmes

Geoffrey C. Shafer, 68, of Galva, KS, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, surrounded by family at his home.

He was born February 14, 1957, in Tribune, Kansas, the son of J.F. and Marj (Simpson) Shafer. His family later moved to Hutchinson, where Geoff graduated from Hutchinson High School.

On October 19, 1984, Geoff was united in marriage to Beth Ann Wiederstein in Lindsborg, Kansas. Together, they built a life filled with love, service, and family.

Geoff had a diverse and accomplished career. He worked as a truck driver, proudly earning a one-million-mile accident-free certificate. He was also the owner and operator of Shafer Construction and later served as supervisor of gas services for American Energies. Geoff was a man of many talents and could fix just about anything. He especially loved woodworking and time spent outdoors at the family cabin.

A man of deep faith, Geoff was an active member of Galva Community Church. Over the years, he served in many roles including Sunday School teacher, chairman of trustees, lay leader, and liturgist. He and Beth were also active in the Galva Senior Center, where they regularly prepared meals for the local volunteer fire department on behalf of the Senior Center. Geoff also enjoyed playing pool with friends at the Canton Senior Center.

Above all, Geoff cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and “Papa,” and found his greatest joy in time spent with his grandchildren. He had a gift for making people smile and often said that bringing joy to others brought joy to him.

Geoff’s kindness, craftsmanship, faith, and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.
