Gerald Eugene Duerksen, age 81, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away on July 25, 2024, at Village Manor Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 16, 1942, in Hillsboro, Kansas Gerald lived a life marked by his commitment to his faith and family.

After graduating from Lehigh Rural High School, Gerald began farming and raising livestock outside of Lehigh until 1983. Life circumstances then took him on a different path as he returned to college to pursue a degree in social work from Bethel College. His new career as a social worker for SRS in Abilene and surrounding communities allowed him to touch the lives of many children and families, making a significant impact through his compassionate service.

On January 10, 1975, Gerald married Jane Littrell in McPherson, Kansas. This union joined Gerald’s daughters and son with Jane’s daughter and son. They added to their family welcoming two daughters of their own. Their marriage was a source of great joy and companionship throughout their 49 years together.

Gerald was a member of First Christian Church Abilene where he found community and continued to grow his faith. He especially enjoyed meeting with other men from the church for weekly coffee - a tradition that brought him much happiness and camaraderie. Gerald dedicated his life to Christ at a young age and frequently told his children and grandchildren that developing a relationship with Christ and accepting him as Lord and Savior was the most important decision of their lives.

His love and commitment to his family were evident in everything he did. He spent many hours in gyms, on ball fields, tennis courts, and golf courses attending as many games or programs of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as he was able.

Gerald didn’t know a stranger and was known for his great sense of humor. He delighted in ornery jokes and ribbing that would often bring laughter and joy to those around him. His legacy of hard work, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane Duerksen; his children: Shannon (Todd) Davis, Sherri Duerksen, Craig (Megan) Duerksen, Jeff (Diane) Lindteigen, Angie (Rick) Vlasin, Rebecca (Kris) Kobiskie, and Stephanie (Kyle) Becker; his 15 grandchildren (Hunter, Morgan, Lauren, Scott, Sean, Talby, Annie, Meghan, Kris, Marcus, Elliott, Matigan, Kaleb, Kyson, Kolt); and his 3 great-grandchildren (Brailen, Landrie, Lowry) as well as his brother, Gary (Janet) Duerksen and sister, Laura Bishop;. He was preceded in death by his parents, Menno and Lydia Duerksen.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 2nd at 10:30 am at First Christian Church in Abilene. Following the service, all who knew Gerald are invited to a luncheon and visitation time at the church. Burial will be the same day at 2:00 pm at Lehigh Cemetery (Chisholm Trail Rd., Lehigh, KS).

She was born, March 12, 1959 to Charles and Angela Kinderknecht. &nbsp;She married Alan Heroneme October 26, 1977 at St. Mary’s Church in Ellis.

She&nbsp;was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Angie and in-law parents, Albert and Lela Heroneme, a sister, Charlene, a sister-in-law, Joyce, a brother-in-law, Michael, and nephews,&nbsp;Patrick&nbsp;and Daniel.

Janetta Kinderknecht Heroneme

Clara A. Wilbanks 72 of Salina passed away Sunday July 21, 2024, at the Salina Regional Health Center. Clara was born March 7, 1952, in Denver Colorado to Clarence and Anna (Sack) Herrman.

Growing up in Denver but on the weekends, would go out to the family farm in Brighton, Colorado. Where she would help with the bringing in of the Milk Cows. She attended schools in Denver and graduating from Manual High School in 1970. Meeting at a young age the love of her life, Ralph Wilbanks. After graduating high school Clara attended Beauty School and working in a floral shop. Ralph and Clara were married on April 22, 1972. They had one daughter the following year. They moved from Thorton, Colorado out to Brighton Colorado where they enjoyed spending time with their horses and animals. Clara enjoyed driving and riding her horses until she became ill. She worked in many places, but retired from a long career in Adams County government as a telecommunications specialist overseeing a large phone line and greeting people as they came in.

Clara and Ralph where also members of the Adams County Fair and Rodeo Committee where they were involved in the parades, rodeos and anywhere they were needed. Clara was also a 20 plus year 4-H leader for Adams County. She enjoyed helping kids learn how to ride and show their horses. Ralph and Clara were involved in the fair queens as well when their daughter got involved in 1989 and then as queen in 1991. She was a long-time member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a life member of the American Paint Horse Association. After Clara stopped riding, she would go with her daughter to the Rodeos as she competed on her horses. Having a couple qualifiers in the Breakaway Roping and the most recently the Select Barrel Racing. Mrs. Wilbanks was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Eucharistic Minister.

In 2023 moving to Abilene Kansas and finally to Salina, Kansas. To be with her daughter and her husband.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Ralph. Many Uncles and Aunts. Clara is survived by her daughter Colette Stoudt her husband Jim Stoudt of Abilene, her sisters Mary Renke of Brighton CO, Patty Ducey-Brooks of San Diego, CA, and Kathy Meier (Ken Meier of Fort Collins, CO as well as two step grandchildren.

The family has selected cremation and services will be in Colorado at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to any Catholic Charity, the American Quarter Horse Foundation, American Heart Association or Pinnacle Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Salina, Kansas.

Kenneth (Kenny) Charles Longhofer, 78, of rural Chapman, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024. He was born on July 22, 1946, in Herington, Kansas, to Kenneth and Betty Longhofer.

Kenny was a 1964 graduate of Dickinson County Community High School.

Kenny had a deep passion for farming, dedicating his entire life caring for his homestead south of Chapman. For more than 30 years, he proudly served the Logan Township as Clerk while providing road maintenance and repairs (known as “Maintainer Man” among his friends and family). He enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, often incorporating new restaurants, museums, and historical sites in his adventures. Kenny was an avid reader and enjoyed music and growing flowers, taking the most pride in his hollyhocks. He was known for his gift of gab, long-winded stories, and sense of humor, always finding an excuse to visit the local Coop to catch up on the latest happenings.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Melody; daughters Beth, Shawnee (Gayle Worley), and Kerry Patterson (Darrell); brother Keith (Donna); and sister Rita (Steve Crossett); and his furry grandkids Hank, Jersey, Holly, Bella, Nyx, and Moxie. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Betty Longhofer.

The family extends their gratitude to those who ensured Kenny’s harvest and fall field preparations were completed. The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to Kenny’s caregivers at Abilene Memorial Health System, Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County, Chapman Valley Manor, and Lindsey Brummer. Kenneth C. Longhofer

Nancy Jean Nelson, daughter of Marcus D. and Velma J. (Koch) Zimmerman, was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 30,1946, and died in her home in Reston, Virginia on July 23,2024, at the age of 77. &nbsp;Nancy grew up in Wichita, and graduated from Wichita North High School in 1964.

She married Kenneth “Kenny” Nelson on June 9, 1979 in Wichita. &nbsp;Ken's jobs in information technology led the couple to Iowa, Kansas, California, Pennsylvania, and finally to Reston, where they have lived for the past 30 years. The couple recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Nancy worked as office manager at Trout Unlimited, a position she enjoyed immensely. &nbsp;After retirement from there, she did volunteer work at Sunrise Assisted Living.

She was a member of St. Athanasius Lutheran Church, Vienna, Virginia, where she served on the church's Commission of Mercy.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Ken, of the home; daughter, Rhonda Cruz (Louie), grandchildren, Ericka Cruz, Tatiana Dearman (Ethan) of Prague, Oklahoma, and Luke Cruz (Jazmynne) of Durham, North Carolina; brother, Marc (Midge) Zimmerman of Colorado; sister, Donna (Read) Oakleaf of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and great-grandson, Artie Dearman, of Prague, Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ryan Glenn Carver, and a grandson, Nicholas Amadeus Cruz.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virgina with funeral services following at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Nancy will be buried on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Delphos Cemetery, Delphos in the Nelson family plot.

Susan Mary Kimminau, 71, of Beloit, Kansas passed away on July 23, 2024. She was the youngest of 11, born on July 12, 1953 to William Joseph and Loretta Catherine (Weingardt) Kimminau.

She attended a country school in Jewell County. She lived the majority of her life with her parents on the family farm. In 2000 she moved to Beloit, where she resided with her brother David.

She was a member of the Saint John’s Catholic Church in Beloit, Kansas. Susan was a genuinely happy person that enjoyed life. She liked watching game shows on tv and playing cards, especially Kings in the Corner.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Catherine, siblings Victor Kimminau, Urban Kimminau, Patricia Flageolle, Julia Hyde and David Kimminau.

She is survived by siblings, Ferdinand Kimminau (Vi), Albert Kimminau, Ralph Kimminau (Lorena), Stanley Kimminau and Kenneth Kimminau; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit, Kansas on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Father Jarett Konrade will officiate with Deacon Albert Kimminau assisting. Darlene Reed, 84, of Bennington, Kansas, passed away on July 18 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born on a farm in Vesper, Kansas, in 1940, to her parents Harry and Bessie Jensen. There were two brothers, Orval and Floyd and her sister, Irma. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Reed, whom she married in 1959, and her daughters, Sharon Reed of Highland Beach, Florida and Kathy Reed of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Darlene was an avid reader who instilled the love of reading, education and curiosity in both her daughters. She was a vocal participant at her daughter’s sporting events as well as a Sunday School Teacher and a Girl Scout Leader.

Together with her husband, Melvin, Darlene managed their farm in Bennington, raising cattle and wheat. They both had a soft spot for their “pet cows”, treating each as if they were a valuable family member, which they were. She will be remembered for her amazing cinnamon rolls, which her daughters still can’t manage to replicate to this day.

Darlene had a strong faith in God and was an active participant in her Church Group in Bennington. May she continue her explorations in faith and family wherever this next journey takes her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Bennington Cemetery, Friday, July 26, at 11 am with a luncheon at the United Church of Bennington, after to share stories and laughs.

Linda L. Serrault, 76, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024.&nbsp; She was born in Salina to Dale and Carmen (Whittecar) Napier. &nbsp;

Linda graduated from Salina High and earned an accounting degree in college.&nbsp; She worked in Salina at NBA Bank and later UMB Bank as a loan processor retiring after 32 years.&nbsp; She loved to travel and experience new cultures.&nbsp; She especially liked cruises and her trip to Africa. &nbsp;

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and numerous loving dogs.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Serrault; children, Preston McNeal (Yvonne), Melissa McNeal, Jeremy McNeal (Erica); grandchildren, Grant, Justin, Dakota, Aunisty, Promyce; four great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Napier (Judy); and many more loving family members.&nbsp; &nbsp;

On July 21, 2024, Michael (Mike) Morse passed away in his family home in Salina, Kansas.

Michael was born on June 03, 1963 in Salina, KS to parents Paul Everett and Geraldine Marle (Naugle) Morse.

After proudly serving in the US Army and finishing his career as a sergeant, Mike transitioned to the Georgia Port Authority in Savannah where he retired as a specialized crane operator in 2018. His retirement years were spent in Salina where he graduated from high school in 1982.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jerri Morse.

He is survived by his sister, Michelle Morse, sister-in-law Evamarie Smith, brother Douglas Morse and uncle and aunt, Loren and Nancy Dowell.

Gary A. Hoops, 68, of Deshler, NE but has recently been in Salina, KS the last 7 years passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the age of 68. He was born in Alma, NE on January 8, 1956, and was adopted by Rudolph and Hilda (Tietjen) Hoops. He was baptized on January 21, 1962, at St. John’s Lutheran Church and then confirmed his faith in Christ on October 25, 1970. He graduated from Bryon High School in Byron, NE in 1974. Throughout his working life he worked at Werner’s Dairy Farm, Reinke Manufacturing as a general laborer doing pipe bundling, and doing a paper route in Beatrice, NE until his health declined that he was not able to work anymore.

Gary Enjoyed many fishing trips with his kids which he inherited the name “Catfish”. He also enjoyed going to many sporting events especially when his children were involved. He always cheered on the Nebraska Corn huskers, Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorie Eitzmann, and brother Larry Hoops.

Survivors include his children Wendy Kuhlmann and husband Tony of Salina, Kansas, Shelly Smith of Deshler, Eric Hoops and wife Wendy of Hebron, Nebraska, and Tony Hoops of Deshler. Gary had been blessed with seven grandkids, Tyler, Mckylie, Kirsten, Daphne, Olivia, Kyzer, and Korbyn. Brother-in-Law Wayne Eitzmann of Deshler, and sister Rose (Hoops) Remmers and husband Dale of Bruning, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday July 27, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler, Nebraska.

Greg’s career was marked by his exceptional skills as a heavy equipment operator. &nbsp;He began working alongside his father and brothers at Rhea Construction Company, mastering the art of earth moving. &nbsp;Greg’s brother Tom said, “Greg was the best equipment operator I have ever seen.” &nbsp;And Tom had seen a lot of operators through the years. &nbsp;His talent and dedication to his craft led him to work for various companies throughout his career. &nbsp;In his later years, Greg found joy in farming with the Hostetler family in Harper where he continued to work the land he loved.

A true outdoorsman, Greg loved golf and especially cherished his time spent ﬁshing, often accompanied by his loyal dog Rowdy. &nbsp;His love for nature was evident in his dedication to his hobbies, providing him with a peaceful escape and countless, cherished memories.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Rhea, and his brother, Thomas Rhea. &nbsp;He is survived by his daughters, Candice Rhea and Keyra Rhea; sister, Glenda (Harold) Mutschler; brother, Tony (Anna) Rhea; sister-in-law, Ann Rhea; grandchildren: Julian, Ethan, and Jayden; nieces and nephews: Amy (Cary), Beth (Rod), Corey, Karen (Jay), Alex (Audrey), Madalynn, and Chase; other relatives and friends.

Donald "Don" Gene Cole, age 66, of Willmar, passed away Thursday, July 18, at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis. &nbsp;There wasn’t an illness Don couldn’t “walk off” until he met cancer, which he fought endlessly.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, at the Church of St. Mary. &nbsp;Interment will be in the church cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. &nbsp;In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Kandiyohi County Food Shelf, the Church of St. Mary in Willmar, or the American Cancer Society. &nbsp;Arrangements are entrusted to the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. &nbsp;<a href="https://www.petersopnbrothers.com/">www.petersonbrothers.com</a>

Don was born on April 2, 1958, in Lincoln, Kansas, to Bill and Eldora Cole. He grew up in the town of Beverly, KS, where his family raised dogs and ran a paper route for more than 10 years. Many afternoons were spent playing football, basketball, or baseball with family and friends, then when evening came the game changed to “Old Grey Wolf”. As all Coles do, Don enjoyed catfishing with his dad.&nbsp;

Don worked at the rock quarry in Lincoln, KS, to put himself through college. He attended Kansas State University where he graduated with a Business Management degree but spent most of his time cheering on the Wildcats.&nbsp;

After college, he moved to Fremont, NE, to begin working for Hormel. While in Fremont, Don met the love of his life, Jan, on a blind date in 1982. He stole her heart by bringing flowers picked from a flower bed at work for their first Valentine’s Day. They were married on August 6, 1983, on a very rainy day in Fremont.

Don and Jan couldn’t wait to start a family and had three children Aaron, Rebecca and Nathan. Goofy as always, Don was sure to instill his children with all his best shenanigans including how to make aluminum can rockets with firecrackers, basketball trick shots and how to send a toy paratrooper up a kite string. Soon after Nathan was born, Don’s career with Hormel took the family to Austin, MN, in 1994. He later transferred to Jennie-O Turkey Store where he worked at plants in Willmar, Marshall and Pelican Rapids, MN.&nbsp;

In 2012, Don and Jan moved back to Willmar, MN, where Don worked at the Jennie-O corporate office. With a house on the golf course, Don used the opportunity to work on his golf game. In fact, after retiring in 2017 he loved golf so much Don and Jan found a second home in Surprise, AZ, so he could golf year-round.

While Don enjoyed golf, what truly brought him joy was meeting and spending time with his grandchildren Hannah, Theo and Scout. Whether he was squirting them with a squirt gun, taking them mini-golfing or sneaking them ice cream, Don was always finding ways to make their time together fun.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Cole; three children, Aaron (Brittany) Cole, Rebecca (Aaron) Lambert and Nathan (Bailey) Cole; three grandchildren Hannah, Theo and Scout; five siblings, Jim (Paula) Cole, Ken (Jaynell) Cole, Bob (Kim) Cole, JoAnn (Tracy) Mote, Dave (Sharon) Cole; brother-in-law, Andy Greene and numerous nieces and nephews.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of&nbsp;James Jore, a loving husband, father, and friend. James passed away at the age of 75, surrounded by his family.

James (Jim, Pops, Jimmy, Alfie) was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed sipping on a cold Coors Light while watching his favorite TV shows or cheering on the Kansas City Royals. Sandra was born to Eugene and Betty (Cobb) Moravec, in Salina, KS, on August 9, 1958.

A graduate of Salina South High School, Sandra was a hard worker. She enjoyed her job at Sears in the shipping and receiving department.

She could always spot a good deal and loved to go to garage sales and flea markets. In addition to her luck at these sales, she also liked to try her luck at playing bingo.

Sandra was an animal lover, and adored her cats, Tux, Hook and BJ, who she referred to as her babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roxanne Henley / Haggard, Eugene Moravec JR., Christopher Moravec, Bonnie Olsen, and Joe Cobb.

She is survived by Ericka Henley, Ayrea Lemon, Jaydann Lemon, Anthony Bishop, Willie Henley, Kobie Henley, Kyesha Thomas, Prince Thomas, Mike, Tony, David, John, and Mark Moravec, and many more nieces and nephews.

She worked at Sam’s Club for 10+ years and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Westfall, Kansas.

Survivors include her daughter, Stacy Koster, of Cawker City, Kansas; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Beth is also survived by her sisters, Kady Fischer (Dennis), of Westfall, Kansas, Thresa Dewhirst, of Salina; and her brother, Scott Deckert (Karen), of Tescott, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Haunschild; brother, Dee Deckert; brother-in-law, Marty Dewhirst; sons, Robert Oliver and James "Jim" Jacob; and nephew, Shawn Deckert.

Beth’s wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned.

Jacqueline Dee "Jackie" Tolbert, 76, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Sunday, July 14th, 2024.

Jackie was born in Emporia, Kansas on March 12, 1948, a daughter of Phyllis D. (Hufferd) and Leonard Arthur Harriman.

On June 27, 1981, Jackie married Randy Tolbert in Emporia.

Jackie worked several administrative positions with the State of Kansas, including Emporia State, Wichita State, and Kansas State in Salina. She earned several awards while working in these positions. If someone needed something, they could always count on Jackie T.

Her main passion in life was her family and friends. Attending her grandkids activities was her absolute favorite thing to do. She always wanted everyone she came across, to feel special and loved. Jackie was the most giving person you could meet. If she met you once, she considered you a friend and would do anything for you.

She had decorations for every holiday imaginable. The day after Thanksgiving always included homemade turkey pot pie and her kids and grandkids climbing up into the attic to haul out the decorations for her to begin creating a Christmas Wonderland.

She loved feeding people, baking, The Game Show Network, soap operas, gift giving, casinos, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, the Salina Liberty, and Cheetos.

Survivors include her three daughters, Jennifer Main (Dan), Ashley Hanson (Matt), Angie Stauffer (Brian), all of Salina, Kansas; grandchildren, Alec (Brianna), Courtney (Brooks), Drew, Austin, Caden, Reagan; great granddaughters, Mila, Zoe; and her fur baby, Presley the Yorkie-Poo.

Jackie is also survived by her sister, Carol Miller, of Emporia, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Randy Tolbert; brothers, Terry Harriman, Rusty Harriman; and son, Dustin.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 19th at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina with Pastor Derek Birney officiating. Wilma June "Willie" Wohler, 87, passed away on Thursday, July 11th at Reflections Retirement Resort in Salina, Kansas.

Wilma was born on June 15th, 1937 in Rural Severy, Kansas to June Elizabeth Wade.

Wilma worked at Tony's Pizza in Salina, Kansas, where she eventually retired and began running her County Line Kennel for approximately 10 years in rural Saline County near Glendale, Kansas.

Some of Wilma’s hobbies were gardening, spending time outdoors, and caring for all birds. She loved flowers and being in her yard. She also loved dogs, especially Yorkies.

Wilma enjoyed going to church when she could and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Salina. One of Wilma’s favorite sayings was, “Smile til you’re happy and keep it up.”

Wilma is survived by her sisters, JoAnn Unruh, Sheryl Smoot, Shirley Boulanger, and Debbie Magvire; brother, Jim Bowen; sons, Leonard Donaldson (Gayla) of Assaria, Kansas, and Clint Donaldson (Shelley) of Kansas City, Missouri; and daughter, Tami Jensen of Brookville, Kansas. Wilma is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren.

David Allen Metzger, 64, of Belleville, IL, born February 15, 1960, in Salina, KS, died Friday, July 12, 2024, at his residence.

Dave was a 26-year United States Air Force veteran. He served in the Heartland of America band at Offutt Air Force base, Nebraska, the US Air Force Band of the Pacific at Yakota Air Force base, Japan, the Band of Mid America at Scott Air Force base, Illinois, and a deployment on the USNS Comfort Hospital Ship. After his Air Force retirement, he played many woodwind instruments in the Edwardsville Municipal band, the University City band, and many small bands.

He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Metzger; and his mother, Patricia, nee Davis, Metzger.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Denise, nee Aills, Metzger, whom he married on May 2, 1981;&nbsp;daughter, Michelle Wright (Matt Vigil);&nbsp;son, Steven Metzger (Erica Metzger);&nbsp;grandson, Caden Wright;&nbsp;little brother, Brian Metzger;&nbsp;big brother, Randy Metzger;&nbsp;and his stepmother, Shirley Metzger.

Lucile Marie (Keller) Clark was the 3rd daughter born to Henry &amp; Maude (Bassett) Keller, on September 17th, 1932, in rural Lebanon, KS. She passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2024, at 7:07 p.m. surrounded by her loving family.

Lucile grew up in the Odessa area, attending Esbon School and graduating in 1950. Lucile married her high school sweetheart, Edward Lewis Clark on December 24th, 1950. They spent a year in Hastings, NE before moving to a farm south of Lebanon where their five children were raised, Debra Beth, Dennis Edward, Shelly Jo, Randy Charles, and Douglas Robert.

In 1965 Lucile started work at the Jewell County Courthouse and was elected as the Jewell County Clerk from 1971-1975. She was an avid gardener. She loved her Iris beds and planted a huge vegetable garden every year, much to the dismay of her children. She was also passionate about sewing, making all her daughters’ dresses while they were growing up and she even made Shelly’s wedding dress along with all the bridesmaids’ dresses.

In 1975 Lucile &amp; Ed moved to Esbon to their new home. They went to harvest and custom combined for 14 years. In the winter Lucile would work at Esbon Schools as a school “lunch lady”. Lucile also worked as a CNA in Mankato and Smith Center hospitals and nursing facilities, retiring when she was 80! Her love of sewing continued throughout her lifetime and through her late 80’s and into her 90’s she completed over 3,000 “t-shirt” diapers for babies in Zambia. She loved making tie blankets as well, and made sure her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and all the fur babies had at least one, if not multiples!

Lucile was also the local Avon lady for over 45 years, making friends all over the counties. Her home was full of Avon treasures, and she always had a gift for anyone that stopped in.

Her greatest love and joy were her grandchildren. She attended all their sporting events that she could and always had a snickers to hand out after the games. She kept all the newspaper clippings and programs from all the grandkids’ games and events. She cherished her little ones and as they grew older, there was always a new baby to hold and hug.

Every Labor Day all her kids, grandkids, and great-grands that could, traveled to her for the fun-filled holiday weekend. She loved hosting the entire family and always planned the Sunday picnic to host extended family as well! The littles and bigs will really miss this fun weekend.

Lucile’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. She had an endless love for feeding all and knew exactly what you liked and would have it ready for when you arrived. As we mourn Lucile, let us celebrate the light she brought into the world and the countless lives she touched. May her memories continue to inspire us all to show the love we have for one another. Lucile's memory will forever live on in the hearts and stomachs of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Audrey Young and Joyce Ritter, her husband, Edward in 1991; her first-born son, Dennis Edward in 2015; and her first-born grandson, Tate Edward Findley in 1978.

Lucile is survived by her sister Charlotte Detwiler of Kensington, KS; her daughters Debra Clark of Liberty, MO; Shelly Findley of Hutchinson, KS; her sons Randy Clark of Abilene, KS; Doug (Kim) Clark of Emerald Isle, NC; daughter-in-law Cynthia Clark of Burr Oak, KS; Grandchildren, Marcus Findley (Emily Ernst) of Moundridge, KS; Laci (Ryan) Boyle of Wichita, KS; Maurice (Karina) Findley of Haslet, TX; Derek (Ashley) Clark of Superior, NE; Amanda (Jed) Hastings of Jamestown, ND; Megan (Todd) Peterson of Nickerson, KS; Tyler (Megan) Clark of Denver, CO; and Brianna Clark of Wentzville, MO; Great-Grandchildren, Colyn Findley, Kailey Findley, Lakyn Findley, Brenton Findley, Brycen Burkholder, McKenna Burkholder, Olivia Barkley, Dylan Barkley, Dylan Boyle, Dante Boyle, Drew Boyle, Daltyn Boyle, Ezra Findley, Kai Findley, Dayne Clark, Levi Clark, Kamdyn Hastings, Cristian Peterson, Austin Peterson, Montana Peterson, Harrison Clark, Evelyn Clark, and Arianna Clark. A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Burr Oak Community Church with Lance McDowell officiating. Visitation will be held at Melby Mortuary from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Esbon Community Center or the Jewell County Hospital in care of Melby Mortuary, P.O. Box 384, Mankato, KS 69956.
