Norman Miles Christian, age 90, passed away July 23, 2025, at Concordia, Kan. He was born May 3rd, 1935 to Elmer and Agnes (Ottson) Christian at Mitchell, South Dakota. He attended Grade School in a one room country school. Several ages were taught at the same time with only one teacher. He joined 4-H at an early age. Norm was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD. He graduated from Artesian SD High School.

On February 19, 1955, he married Ivadell A. Hein at Lane, SD. To this union six children were born, Cynthia A. (Mike) Fazel, Verletta J. (Paul) Moon, Donavan D. Christian, Clinton M. Christian, Michelle L. (Rodney) Klinkner, and Janet E. (Jeff)Bergeson.

He is survived by his six children; his grandchildren, Jina Moon, Nathan Moon, Christian Fazel, Tavia Hird, Ashley Moody, Chas Klinkner, Rachel Reves, Miles McGee, Braxton LeDuc, Carson Christian, Kaylee Christian, Stephanie McIntyre, Krystal Whiting, Mykenzee Bergeson; 17 great grandchildren; siblings Dale (Leora) Christian, Jeanice (Don) Stevens, and Mary (Ken) Charlton.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents and wife Ivadell.

For 18 years Norm worked for Gamble-Skogmo Inc. in a number of positions and communities across South Dakota, Iowa, and Kansas. In 1973, he started with Fidelity State Bank in Concordia, KS and for the next 27 plus years was involved with the Banking industry in North Central KS, retiring from Central National Bank

While living in North Central Kansas, Norm was involved in many areas of the community, including serving as a Lion for 25+ years, serving as a member of the board of directors of Cloud County Health Center, Concordia Industrial Development Commission, Cloud County Community College Foundation, Concordia Area Chamber of Commerce, and Concordia Lutheran Church.

Norm had many hobbies and interests, most involved the outdoors: golf, fishing, hunting, time at Lovewell Lake, and taking Grandchildren and friends on many outdoor adventures. He enjoyed traveling with his special friend Boni McBride. He will be missed by family and many friends.

A memorial service will take place at the Concordia Lutheran Church on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Delvin Strecker officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Charity Cemetery in Wessington Springs, SD at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Concordia Lutheran Church in care of Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, P.O. Box 606, Concordia, KS 66901.
