Larry Wade Peppers, 80, entered into eternal peace on August 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, KS.

Larry was born on August 19, 1943 in Granite City, IL to parents Thomas Wade and Elta Oletta (Sykes) Peppers. Larry graduated from Granite City High School and earned an associates degree from Hutchinson Community College.

He married Judy Nelson on June 9,1963. They had 4 children together before she passed away on August 6,1993.

Larry served in the Air Force as an A1C Missile Facilities Technician in the mid -1960s.

He later began working at Sears, and stayed for 43 years as a sales associate and manager, then moved to Menards before his retirement.

Larry enjoyed coaching his sons Babe Ruth baseball teams, watching KU basketball, fishing, casinos, and loved listening to classic country music.

He married Laura Baumberger in September of 1994. Larry and Laura raised several puppies, including his beloved Mandy. They liked to play bingo and dine at local area restaurants.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife (Judy); two sisters (Linda and Mary).

Lyla "Pat" Patricia Brooks, 74, passed away on August 03, 2024 at her home in Solomon, KS.

Lyla was born on August 23, 1949 in Scott City, KS to parents Leonard Henry and Leta Mae (Eastham) Brooks.

She loved her job at the library and loved working with the community and especially the children. She participated in many volunteer events encouraging people to read. She loved volunteering and often volunteered at events for the Smokey Hill Museum; one example would be the Salina Street Fair. She was also a volunteer for the North Salina Community Development project and Lakewood Discovery Center events.

Pat didn’t have the opportunity to go to college until later in life but she loved it and would have made a lifetime career out of it if she could. She attended Kansas State University and received two Masters degrees, one in Environmental Studies and another in Women's Studies. She was passionate about environmental issues, social injustice and human rights. She was very knowledgeable and wrote many essays on these issues. She was an avid reader and spent a large part of most days reading and learning new things.

She was very committed in the Baha'i faith community. She loved her cat Nellie and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved gardening.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; Sisters: Luella Betzold and Linda Brooks; Brothers: Leonard Brooks, Leland Brooks and Larry Brooks.

Lyla is survived by; Daughters: Cassie Brooks and spouse Jerome Schneider, Heidi Phillips and Bonnie Love Sons: Mark Reeves and John Phillips; Sisters: Lana Jantz and Lenora Haynes; Brother: Lynn Brooks; 8 Grandchildren.

Valerius (Val) J. Rohleder passed away August 8th, 2024. Val was born to Nick and Minnie Rohleder on 12/19/1929 in Emmeram, Kansas.

He graduated from St. Joseph Military academy in Hays in 1948. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Val married Tina Giest in 1956 and she survives the home.

In 1978 Val and Tina moved to Abilene KS where they opened their business Pioneer Farm and Ranch Supply. Val coached baseball, taught religion classes for his church but his greatest passion was running his farm store. Val worked in his store for more than 40 years before retiring at age 90.

Val is survived by his wife Tina and three children, Nick (Teree) Rohleder of Salina, Jody (Dr. Jim) Jenkins of Junction City, Amy (Mark) Dautel of McPherson, Six grandchildren, Samantha, Kristan, Hunter, Hannah, Jordan and Dustin, and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Martin-Becker-Carlson funeral home in Abilene KS on Monday August 12th from 5:30-7:30pm (Rosary from 5:30-6pm). Valerius (Val) J. Rohleder

Doris Adelle (Johnson) Blomquist passed away August 2, 2024 at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Salina, KS. &nbsp;She was born on &nbsp;March 27, 1930, to Edgar and Ruby (Peterson) Johnson of rural&nbsp;Assaria. &nbsp; She attended grades 1-8 at Star School, walking or riding ponies with her siblings, Carolyn and Eldon, to the one-room schoolhouse located a mile south of their childhood home. &nbsp;She graduated as valedictorian from&nbsp;Assaria&nbsp;High School in 1948. &nbsp;She attended Kansas Wesleyan for 2 years, and then taught for 2 years at&nbsp;Smolan&nbsp;grade school. &nbsp;On October 12, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Oscar Blomquist.

Early in their marriage, Oscar was drafted into the army during the Korean conflict. &nbsp;He was assigned to the Counter Intelligence Corps, and they lived in both Baltimore, MD, and Independence, MO, while he served his country. &nbsp;Doris worked at Butler Manufacturing in Kansas City during their time there. &nbsp;They returned to the&nbsp;Assaria&nbsp;community following his military service, and began a diversified farming and livestock operation. &nbsp;Shortly after their return, the farm adjacent to her childhood home became available for them to rent and later buy. &nbsp;They moved onto that place, and this is where Doris would live the next 68 years of her life.&nbsp;

The center of Doris’ life was her faith and her family. &nbsp;Life was not always easy; she and Oscar lost their second child as an infant, Oscar passed away suddenly in 1973 at age 42, and son Kevin passed away in 2004 at age 40. &nbsp;Despite these heartbreaking losses, she maintained an unwavering faith in Christ and looked forward with a strong, positive, optimistic spirit. &nbsp;She was a lifelong, active member of&nbsp;Assaria&nbsp;Lutheran Church and served as church secretary for many years until her retirement in 1997. &nbsp;She participated in and often served in leadership roles for Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Mary Group, XYZ, Quilting, Sunday School teaching, church kitchen serving, 4-H and “Mothers Club”. &nbsp;If you worked alongside Doris on a committee or a project, you could count on her to be hardworking, willing, capable, cheerful and ALWAYS organized. &nbsp;

Doris was proud of her Swedish heritage; one special memory was a trip to Sweden with her siblings and many of her cousins in 1998. &nbsp; &nbsp;She passed on many Swedish traditions including baking beautiful Swedish tea rings and&nbsp;ostkaka&nbsp;for Christmas. She was always ready to “have coffee” with friends and family. &nbsp;She loved her farm and enjoyed history, sharing the inspiring story of escaped slave and Liberty township homesteader Larry Lapsley with many audiences. &nbsp; &nbsp;An accomplished seamstress and pie baker, she delighted in growing flowers, watching birds, doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, and organizing photograph albums. &nbsp; One of her favorite things was receiving&nbsp;greeting cards—if you sent her a birthday or Christmas card, it was read and appreciated! &nbsp;Doris was a loving, selfless, devoted mother and encourager to her three children, and later to her 9 grandchildren, all of whom she adored and who adored her. She read her Bible daily, lived by example, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. &nbsp;

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Blomquist, sons Bernard &nbsp;and Kevin Blomquist, her parents, Edgar and Ruby Johnson, and her siblings, Carolyn Johnson and Eldon Johnson.&nbsp;

She is survived by two daughters, Denise Stein (David, dec.) of Gypsum and Lori Penner (Tim) of Clay Center, daughter-in-law, Stacy Blomquist of Pineville, LA, nine grandchildren, Emily Lind, Erica Moyer (Kyle), Elissa Westbrook (Andrew), Bethany Hofmann (Darren), Allison Haynes (Russell), Evan Penner (Katie), Rachel Blomquist, Ryan Blomquist, Megan Kirkendoll (Cameron), and 13 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 9th at Crick-Christians&nbsp;Funeral&nbsp;Home.&nbsp;

Doris Adelle (Johnson) Blomquist

Larry Sutton (AKA) Sam 83 passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Gypsum, Kansas to Francis and Evelyn Sutton, the youngest of four children.

He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships and earned his nickname “Sam.” Upon arriving as a freshman pledge, his fraternity brothers found him shy and quiet and dubbed him “Silent Sam.” Sam attributed his quietness to having three “very chatty” sisters. While in college, Sam met the love of his life, Prudy whom he affectionately referred to as my “Bride.” However, the names he cherished the most were Pops and Poppy.

Larry’s dynamic career spanning nearly 55 years brought his family to various cities both in the U.S. and abroad, allowing them to build enduring relationships along the way. He was known for his strong work ethic, his dedication to mentoring young engineers, and his no-nonsense attitude.

Sam will be remembered as a gentle giant who was humble and unassuming with a generous heart.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Prudy, his three children, John, Stephanie, and Jason, and four grandchildren, Zoe, Madison, Gregory, and Campbell. His sisters, Patsy, Marilyn and Darlene, his brother-in-law, Arnie, his sister-in-law, Kathy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy Marie Sorensen was born February 2, 1943 in Belleville Kansas, Peggy departed this earthly life August 6th, 2024 at her home in Abilene. Peggy had recently talked about seeing her parents Viola and Virgil White in heaven.

Peggy had two older sisters, Phyllis and Barbara. Peggy was united in marriage on May 27, 1962 to Robert Sorensen. Peggy and Bob liven in Emporia for four years. In 1966 Abilene became their new home. The last several years Peggy;s entertainment was taking day trips in the car. Many times she commented “isn’t Abilene a nice town”.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, her in-laws, aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband Robert, nephews and cousins. Peggy loved nature, especially birds and animals, Peggy and Bob lived on their “hobby farm” by Brown’s Park for 43 years where Peggy enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens.

Bob and Peggy were married for 62 years and 2 months, Bob will truly miss his partner and companion. Cremation has been selected and there will be no local services. Peggy Marie Sorensen

John Michael “Mike” McBride, 77, Salina, passed away in his home on August 4, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

Mike was born in Colby Kansas to parents Azel (Hopper) and John McBride. Although the family lived in several other places, they eventually returned to Colby where Mike graduated from High School in 1965. After graduation, Mike joined the Air Force and served five years overseas in Japan and Vietnam. After the service Mike returned to Colby and drove a bus route.

It was in Colby that Mike met the love of his life, Jackie, and they were married on December 9, 1972, at United Methodist Church, Colby. The couple moved to Salina a few years later where they later had one son, Michael “Wiley” just days before their ninth anniversary.Over the years, Mike worked for the local lumberyard, as insurance salesman, and as clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad.

He loved metal detecting as a hobby and became an independent dealer for MineLab metal detectors. He enjoyed collecting antique guns and coins.

Mike was most proud of two things: his military service and his grandchildren. If you ever met him, you have heard stories about both.

Over the year, Mike volunteered as a Boy Scout Troop Leader, soccer coach, and baseball coach. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Jane McBride, and brother-in-law Lloyd Wolf. He leaves behind to grieve his passing: wife Jackie, of the home; son Wiley (Kendra) McBride of Hays, Kansas; grandchildren McKena, Kaden, and Kamden McBride of Hays; brother Lynn McBride of Paola; sister Kay Wolf of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law Rick (Peggy) Tillett and Rod Tillett of Salina, and Rory Tillett of Claflin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 9, at 10:30am, at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, with Pastor Bruce Dimick officiating. A private interment will be at a later date.

John Michael “Mike” McBride

Patricia Ann "Pat" Williams, 83, of Salina, Kansas, passed away at home, Monday, August 5th, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Pat was born in Carroll, Iowa on December 17th, 1940, to Luella and Herman Subbert.

She earned her bachelor’s degree and was a Lutheran School Teacher.

Pat and her husband, Donald Williams, were married for 48 years before his passing.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Gaskill (Bill), Kathy Koehn (Bob), and Miriam Junge (Jody); and sons, Doug Williams (Marci), and Robert Williams.

She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and granddaughter, Abigail Coykendall.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, August 10th at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Victor&nbsp;Raymond Schrader, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, in his hometown of Salina, Kansas. He was born on February 9, 1956, in Salina, KS, to Raymond and Ella Schrader, who preceded him in death.

Victor is survived by his devoted wife, Debra (Leighton) Schrader; his cherished children, Lori Killingsworth (Dylan), Joshua Schrader (Laura), and Clayton Schrader (Maret); and his adoring grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hunter, Izabella, Olivia, Charlotte, Abigail, and Cora. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Crosby, who holds a special place in the hearts of his family.

Victor was known for his kind spirit, unwavering dedication to his family, and his warm, engaging presence. Throughout his life, he was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration to all who knew him. His legacy of love and generosity resonates with those who had the privilege of sharing their lives with him, which will continue through his gifts shared by being a transplant hero.

A memorial service to celebrate Victor's life will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Salina, KS. The family invites all who knew Victor to join them in honoring his memory.

Debra Dreiling-Armstrong, 66, Salina, died Tuesday, July 30, 2024.&nbsp; Deb was born July 19, 1958 in Salina, daughter of Robert Armstrong and Karen Armstrong. She worked as an electrician, telephone technician, and most recently an aerospace color manager for Graco Supply.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her mother, wife Sandra Dreiling-Armstrong, son-in-law Steven Twietmeyer, nephew Jamie O’Neal, and nephew Brandon Robinson. &nbsp;

Survivors include father Robert and wife Karel; son Curtis and wife Andrea; daughter April Saskowski and husband Kyle; son Benjamin; sister Kim Vidricksen and husband Willie; sister Robin Crawford and husband Rick; sister Terry Taylor and husband Dave; sister Tammy Shirack and husband Mark; stepbrother Gary Robinson; several grandchildren Bailey, Payten, Easton, Talan, Mara, Gavin, and Hensley, all of Salina; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery and luncheon at Tumbleweed Event Center. &nbsp;

James “Jim” Leroy Tullis, 81, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 5th, 2024.

Jim was born in Holton, Kansas on December 18, 1942, a son of Ruby Elnora (Wright) and Harry James Tullis.

He was a professional pilot with over 30,000 hours of flight time. He learned to fly in Atchison, Kansas at Amelia Earhart Field and moved to Salina in 1969 to fly for JJ Veneer as a corporate pilot until it was sold to ADM Milling Company. He was still doing pilot check rides at 81 for K-State Salina until his passing. He also taught people to fly for several years. He loved his Saturday morning coffee and donuts with the fellows at the airport, spending time with his children, grandchildren and going to the casino. He also loved K-State, Kansas City Royals, and the Chiefs. He was a member of Salina First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his daughter, Dana Carr (Robert), of Caldwell, Idaho; two sons, Allen Tullis (Cathy), of Derby, Kansas and Todd Tullis (Becky), of Wichita, Kansas; 4 grandchildren, Sara Mayers (Jason), Tami Hauschel (Jake), David Tullis (Alexa), Jerica Tullis; 6 great grandchildren, Kendall, Josie, Aiden, Bridger, Oakley, and Everly.

Jim is also survived by two brothers, David Tullis, of Kelseyville, California, and Jerry (Gail) Tullis, of Valley Falls, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ruby.

James "Jim" Leroy Tullis

Dennis Massier, 80, of Salina, Kansas (formerly Ellis, Kansas) passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024 in Salina. He was born on January 3, 1944 in Hays to John and Frieda (Knieling) Massier.

Dennis served in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he met and married the love of his life, Genevie Young. On April 18, 1969, they were married. They lived in Hays, then Ellis. Dennis worked for KAYS TV for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Ellis and enjoyed working on electronics and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his son, Duane Massier of WaKeeney; two daughters, Denise Yoakum and Debra Massier both of Salina; brother-in-law, Dean Young of Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Ellie Schmidt, of Wichita; and a granddaughter, Haleigh Massier.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Diane, and Darlene Breeze and her husband, Lewie; and two brothers, Delbert, and Darrell and his wife, Mary Massier.

He will be cremated and buried at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 21st, at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at WaKeeney.

Dennis Massier

Carol Jean Urban, 62, Concordia, KS, passed away on July 28, 2024. She was one of eight, born on August 14, 1961, to Raymond and Rosella (Charbonneau) Hubert.

Carol was raised in Concordia and graduated from Concordia High School in 1979.

She married Joseph Urban on February 10, 1979, and their union welcomed four children, Michael, Audra, Jeremy, and Joshua. Carol and her family lived in Oklahoma, Alaska, and Florida while Joe was in the military. They returned to Concordia in 1995. Carol returned to school and earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Cloud County Community College in 2006, while employed in the cafeteria at Cloud County Community College. She would go on to work at Angel Square, and then as the manager at the Downtown Smoke Shop in Concordia.

Carol was an artist that enjoyed all areas of art, from painting or drawing to sculpture, to brick carving and crocheting. She was always crafting something, even when watching tv. Her art can be found all around Concordia, including murals in the CCCC Science Pod, and the Whole Wall Mural in downtown Concordia.

Carol is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Hubert; sisters, Mary and Linda; brother, Michael; and one grandchild, Alyssa.

She was one of eight, born on August 14, 1961, to Raymond and Rosella (Charbonneau) Hubert.Carol was raised in Concordia and graduated from Concordia High School in 1979.She married Joseph Urban on February 10, 1979, and their union welcomed four children, Michael, Audra, Jeremy, and Joshua. Carol and her family lived in Oklahoma, Alaska, and Florida while Joe was in the military. They returned to Concordia in 1995. Carol returned to school and earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Cloud County Community College in 2006, while employed in the cafeteria at Cloud County Community College. She would go on to work at Angel Square, and then as the manager at the Downtown Smoke Shop in Concordia.Carol was an artist that enjoyed all areas of art, from painting or drawing to sculpture, to brick carving and crocheting. She was always crafting something, even when watching tv. Richard Anthony Anderes, age 64 of Hope, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Memorial Health System in Abilene.

He was born on December 22, 1959, in Abilene, the son of Edwin Paul and Jennie Ruth (Rediker) Anderes. He graduated from Chapman High School.

Richard was a sports fan and loved the Oakland Raiders. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and following his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt and later Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He was a talented artist, drawing pictures free hand and building many model cars. Watching, reading, and learning about cars and trucks were a passion of his.

He is survived one brother, Bob Anderes and wife Patti of Hope; one sister, Joyce Elburn of Abilene; six nieces and nephews, Jeff Anderes (Diane Pickering), Jennifer Dockins (Eric), Lori Hunter (Sam), Robert Falconio (Tara), Jarred Anderes (Jenny), and Nathan Anderes (Tracy), and ten great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene Anderes.

Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:00 p.m.

Mindi was born August 25, 1984, in Salina to Marvin and Virginia (Higle) Alderson.

She was a 2002 graduate of Minneapolis High School, and she received her master’s degree in accounting from Kansas Wesleyan University. She and Mike Carlson were united in marriage on April 29, 2006. To this union, one son, Gage, was born.

She is survived by her son, Gage Carlson; significant other, Roger Sanborn; parents, Marvin and Virginia Alderson; siblings, Jason Alderson, Lacy (Greg) Alderson, Melody (Dustin) Ringer, and Stephanie (Beau) Furrow; nieces, Marika, Savannah, Ashlynn, Hadleigh, Josie, and Baylor; and nephews, Emmett, Cooper, and Kipton.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 7 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Marjorie Carolyn Galloway, 87, of Bennington, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. She was born on August 3, 1936, in Sterling, Colo., to John and Lucille (Crandall) Chandler.

Marjorie loved crocheting and knitting and was a game show enthusiast. She was an avid reader and enjoyed participating in a bowling league and watching her grandkids in school programs and sports. Her kids and grandkids were her full-time hobby.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie Pimple; sons, Bill (Chris), Tom (Kay), and Chris (Linda) Pimple; sister, Mary Nadow (Don); 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Van Galloway; children, Jim Pimple and Diana Gibson; and brothers, John, Don, and George Chandler.

Jesse Eugene Widler, 65, of Enterprise, Kansas passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the morning of July 30th, 2024&nbsp;at Village Manor in Abilene, Kansas after a long battle&nbsp;with his&nbsp;health&nbsp;at Via Ascension Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;

Jesse was born at Abilene Memorial Hospital in Abilene, Kansas on March 18,&nbsp;1959&nbsp;to Floyd Irvin Widler and Ursula (Debus) Haller.&nbsp;He grew-up on the family farm outside of Enterprise, Kansas and graduated from Chapman High School in the class of 1978.&nbsp;After graduating, he worked for several different co-ops and eventually started doing a trash route with his brother, George on Ft. Riley.&nbsp; He also continued to help his dad and&nbsp;brothers&nbsp;farm.&nbsp;

In 1990, Jesse met Kim Anderson&nbsp;in Enterprise, Kansas. Jesse adopted Kim’s son, James J Widler. In December of 1992,&nbsp;their daughter, Stephanie Marie Widler was born.&nbsp; Jesse loved being a dad and&nbsp;went above and beyond for his kids.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jesse worked for the road crew for Dickinson County for several years&nbsp;and went back to work on Fort Riley for years too. Eventually, Kim and him&nbsp;purchased what was the R-Bar&nbsp;in Enterprise, Kansas&nbsp;and ran that together until their divorce in 2008.&nbsp;

Jesse started working for the City of Enterprise doing trash route and general&nbsp;labor. He absolutely loved running the trash truck and&nbsp;enjoyed visiting with the citizens of Enterprise and feeding treats to the dogs along his route. He had to leave the City of Enterprise&nbsp;crew&nbsp;in 2019 due to the onset of health issues.&nbsp;

In August of 2019, Jesse was&nbsp;joined in marriage&nbsp;to Yolande (Allen) Widler&nbsp;in Enterprise, Kansas. They resided in Enterprise, Kansas together until his death.&nbsp;

Jesse ran and won&nbsp;the position for&nbsp;Mayor of Enterprise, Kansas in 2021. He absolutely loved the City of Enterprise and was happy to be able to serve the citizens of the town.&nbsp;He was also a member of the Enterprise Community Church and a regular contributor to the ASCPA.&nbsp;He will always be remembered very fondly by family and friends. He loved to visit and seemed to always be making new friends.&nbsp;Jesse loved his tractors,&nbsp;all of&nbsp;his animals,&nbsp;spending time on the farm, and making memories with his friends and family.&nbsp;He will be greatly missed by his&nbsp;beloved&nbsp;family&nbsp;and all of his friends spread&nbsp;throughout&nbsp;the country.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Yolande&nbsp;Widler,&nbsp;who resides at the homeplace,&nbsp;daughter Stephanie Widler&nbsp;of Enterprise, son James Widler&nbsp;of Enterprise,&nbsp;sister Brenda Cain (Kenny)&nbsp;of Abilene, brother Bryan (Butch) Widler&nbsp;of Enterprise, and two granddaughters, Ridley McDonald and Rylee Sester both of Enterprise, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jesse was preceded in death by both of his parents and two brothers, George Widler&nbsp;and William (Billy) Widler.&nbsp;

A Celebration&nbsp;of&nbsp;Life&nbsp;in&nbsp;honor&nbsp;of Jesse&nbsp;will be announced&nbsp;at a later date&nbsp;in the early fall for family and friends to attend.&nbsp;

Delores A. Pilcher passed away July 28, 2024, at her home in Bennington KS. Delores was the daughter of Glenn E. and Gladys (Young) Lacy. She was born July 4, 1940, outside of Miltonvale KS. Delores graduated from Miltonvale High School in 1957 and was united in marriage to Arnold Pilcher on July 28, 1957. Together Delores and Arnie had three children Randy, Renee and RaShelle, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren,

Delores loved her family and often hosted many amazing holidays and Sunday lunches. She loved trips to Branson, country music, flowers and her pets. Her faith in God was very important to her, and her prayer was for her family to know Jesus. During the late 70’s Delores became a foster parent, during that time she made a lasting impression on many children with her unconditional love.

Grandma P. will be remembered for her smile, her compassion, selfless love, baby dolls, beanie babies her wop rolls and June bugs.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; son Randy; former husband Arnold Pilcher; and her second husband, Gene Rankin. She is survived by Renee (Bob) Boss, RaShelle (Tim) Hensley; daughter-in-law Kris Langdon; and brother Glenn Lee (Janice) Lacy. Seven grandchildren, Alison (Mitch) Swagerty, Lacy Boss, Rob (Susan) Boss, Kylee (Austin) Fick and Zach, Zeb, and Zane Hensley; and eleven great grandchildren, Kinley and Hudson Swagerty, Mathew, Gunnar, Hunter and Tucker Boss, Audrey, Sawyer and Reagan Fick, Eli and Aiden Hensley, and many nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank Angie Myers for the wonderful care she gave Delores.

Together Delores and Arnie had three children Randy, Renee and RaShelle, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren,Delores loved her family and often hosted many amazing holidays and Sunday lunches. She loved trips to Branson, country music, flowers and her pets. Her faith in God was very important to her, and her prayer was for her family to know Jesus. During the late 70’s Delores became a foster parent, during that time she made a lasting impression on many children with her unconditional love.Grandma P. will be remembered for her smile, her compassion, selfless love, baby dolls, beanie babies her wop rolls and June bugs.Delores was preceded in death by her parents; son Randy; former husband Arnold Pilcher; and her second husband, Gene Rankin. She is survived by Renee (Bob) Boss, RaShelle (Tim) Hensley; daughter-in-law Kris Langdon; and brother Glenn Lee (Janice) Lacy. Seven grandchildren, Alison (Mitch) Swagerty, Lacy Boss, Rob (Susan) Boss, Kylee (Austin) Fick and Zach, Zeb, and Zane Hensley; and eleven great grandchildren, Kinley and Hudson Swagerty, Mathew, Gunnar, Hunter and Tucker Boss, Audrey, Sawyer and Reagan Fick, Eli and Aiden Hensley, and many nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank Angie Myers for the wonderful care she gave Delores.Private burial will be in Miltonvale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 400 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, August 4 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Delores A. Pilcher 

Robert Carl Norton, 78, of Gypsum, Kansas, passed away Tuesday July 30. He was born on September 30, 1945, in Pasadena California, to Carlyle “Corky” A. Norton and Melva V. (Wheeler) Norton.

Robert was an avid lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed sharing stories by the campfire. The great outdoors was Robert’s playground, and the campground was his second home. His favorite outdoor activity was mowing, on his trusty lawn mower he could go anywhere while keeping the lawn neat. Whenever his lawn mower got stuck it was always someone else’s fault. Robert also loved classic cars, if there was a car show he was there. His favorite car was the model A. Robert also loved his family dearly. Spending time with his grandkids in the yard teaching them how to mow the lawn was his bread and butter.

In 1963 Robert joined the Navy and served in Vietnam. Robert was part of the crew of the USS Bagley FF 1069 where he traveled the open ocean and seeing the beauty of the world only strengthening his love for the outdoors. In Roberts time in the Navy he reached the rank of Command Maser Chief and after 23 years of dutiful service he retired. Later on Robert joined VFW and continued his service.

Survivors include sister Carolyn A. Basye; Son Tony A. Norton; Daughters Tina A. Blundred, Tracy A. (Wayne) Rohleder; Grandchildren April Norton, Caitlyn Larson, Trinity Blundred, Tristan Blundred, Madison Norton, Kaile Black, Case Davis, Brayson Young, and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family present from 6-8. Funeral Services will be Ryan Mortuary on August 2, at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenville Cemetery, 148 250th Rd, Solomon, KS 67480.

Robert Carl Norton

Melinda J. Gibson, 61, of Salina, gained her angel wings on Thursday, July 18, 2024 after a courageous fight with several medical issues. She was born in Lincoln, KS on April 9, 1963 to Kent and Marilyn (Street) Gibson. 

Melinda was an Associate National Bank Examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency from 1999 to 2024. Prior to this Melinda was employed at Sunflower Bank for several years. She was highly accredited in ACH and graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Melinda was a 1981 South High School graduate in Salina. 

Melinda loved and was very loved by her friends and family. She enjoyed the pets of her friends, too. She frequently showed up with gifts and treats for her special fur buddies.

She is preceded in death by her father Kent Gibson and her brother Timmy Gibson and her grandparents. 

Melinda is survived by her mother, Marilyn Gibson of Mountain View, AR; brother, Jeff Gibson (Mitzi) of Wichita, KS; nephew Matt Gibson (Cassie) of Wichita; and nephew Jake Gibson (Shae) of Wichita. Her great nephew and great niece, Carter and Maddie, were very special to Melinda. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, 08/16/2024 at 2 pm at Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, 2508 Belmont Blvd., Salina, KS. A social gathering will follow at the church to visit with family. Memorials may be made to Salina Animal Shelter or Belmont Boulevard Christian Church.

Melinda J. Gibson

Kathlene “Kitty” I. Dalton, 87, of Salina, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024. She was born April 2, 1937, in Abilene, the daughter of Joseph A. and Cordelia I. (Anderson) Mills.

Kitty was loving, talented in many ways and had a green thumb. She married the love of her life, Bruce in August of 1960. They welcomed their three children Jodi, Blake and Andy into their lives during the first 7 years of marriage. During the course of their marriage they loved and cared for each other and enjoyed their 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. After Bruce passed in June of 2018, she wrote him a letter every day and spoke of him often with such love and appreciation.

Kitty was an active member in her church, Trinity United Methodist. She organized 24-hour prayer vigils yearly and created the Prayer Shawl Ministry in the late 80’s. She knitted countless prayer shawls for members of the community for comfort in their time of need. She also had a love for the piano and was very good at it. When she and Bruce moved into the Presbyterian Manor, she would play the piano for their Sunday services until she was no longer able. In her free time, she would play for hours.

She was also an incredible baker and was known for her fresh focaccia bread that she baked every Thursday. One summer when all of the kids and grandkids were all together in Salina, they ate almost 30 loaves in one week. Every Christmas she would bake at least 8 different types of cookies. She would start preparing them months in advance and freeze them. Not until the last couple of years did she know that her two eldest granddaughters and her husband were stealing them out of the freezer as little treats.

She spent countless hours knitting each swatch that was required for certification. She never gave up no matter how frustrated she would get. She achieved her goal and had an entire page in the newspaper to celebrate her. Kitty would knit a variety of items for her family and friends. Every Christmas she would make something for each member of the family. She also taught classes and did private lessons to help other knitters.She truly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always there to help them with anything they needed, give guidance and support and loved them all so deeply. They all were her pride and joy. She will be very missed. To the moon and back.She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Brown and husband Craig, granddaughter Hanna Frazier, fiancé Jett Vilardell and their children Jett, Jayden and Josie Vilardell of Salina, granddaughter Brooke Frazier of Lee’s Summit, MO; two sons, Blake Dalton and his children Cole, Anderson, and Charlotte of Marshfield, MA, Andy Dalton, wife Stephanie, and their children Joseph, Jacob, Leah Kate, and Joshua of Mandeville, LA.Cremation was chosen. Visitation without the body present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 2, at Ryan Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3, in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Enterprise. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E.
