Harold “Butch” Johnson, 71 of Concordia, Kansas passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in Casa Grande, Arizona.&nbsp; He was born September 20, 1948, in Nelson, Nebraska to Lowell and Mildred (Sprague) Johnson.&nbsp; Butch graduated from Jamestown High School in 1966 and enlisted in the US Navy in April of 1967.&nbsp; While in the Navy, he achieved Radarman Second Class and served tours in the Mideast and Mediterranean on the USS Stickell.&nbsp; He was honorably discharged in September 1970.&nbsp; After returning from the Navy, he attended Beloit Vo-tech studying electronics and became a journeyman power meter man.&nbsp; He worked 31 years at the power company, retiring in 2005 to become a full time farmer/rancher.

On March 20, 1971, he was united in marriage to Carmen Schou and they were married 48 years and 11 months working side-by-side.&nbsp; To this union two sons were born, Skeet and Jay.&nbsp;

Butch loved calf roping, good horses, farming, running cattle, and coaching youth baseball; but most importantly, he loved his family. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and playing pickleball in Arizona.&nbsp; He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather.&nbsp; He had a love for music and could name songs and artists as well as tell you the history of so many.&nbsp; He was a walking encyclopedia full of knowledge and facts.&nbsp; Butch never met a stranger, loved to tell jokes, and enjoyed visiting with people in all walks of life.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Carmen of the home;&nbsp; sons, Skeet (Brooke) Johnson (Basehor, KS, Jay (Stacie) Johnson (Parkville, MO); 6 grandchildren Cole, Mason, Cody, Caycee, Morgan, and Myles; sister Marjory Sollers (Roanoke, TX, sister-in-law Celise (Alan) Lawson (Agenda, KS, brother-in-law Einer (Connie) Schou (Cuba, KS); nieces and nephews, and many friends in Casa Grande, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Johnson, sisters Norma Lee Flinn &amp; Shirley Prather, and nephew Brian Sollers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, February 28, 2020 at Chaput Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas with Randy Paugh Officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, Kansas.&nbsp; Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #27 &nbsp;and the US Navy Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 from 1-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-8, all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.

Leonard Bridgman, 85, of Belleville, Kansas, died on Friday, February 21, 2020 in Belleville, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on December 3, 1934 at Hooper, Nebraska.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include his Wife of 63 years, Carol; Brother Lee (Mardel) Bridgman; Daughters Lori (Jim) McDonald, Lisa Hedstrom, and Jodi (Kevin) Case; Grandchildren Ross McDonald, Clark (Stephanie) McDonald, Lance (Becca) Hedstrom, Lonisa (Josh) Melton, Landon Hedstrom, LaShae Hedstrom, Bryce (Karly) Case, Savanah Case, and Keaton Case, and four great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Dwight and Edna Bridgman and Sister Phyllis Eichmeier and Brother Bill Bridgman.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He proudly served his country from 1953-56 in the United States Marine Corps.&nbsp; After returning from the military until 1965, Leonard worked for the Department of Utilities in Fremont, Nebraska where he also&nbsp;constructed a number of houses. He and his family moved to Belleville in 1965 to open a Coast to Coast Hardware Store that he and&nbsp;his wife owned and operated for 20 years.&nbsp; During that time, Leonard was involved in a number of community organizations including a Charter Member of the Belleville Country Club, Lions Club, Exalted Ruler of The Elk’s, and Grand View Housing Board.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Following retirement in 1985, Leonard and Carol enjoyed traveling&nbsp;throughout the United States and out of the country on numerous occasions.&nbsp; Leonard was an avid golfer, he loved to hunt and fish with his grandkids, and enjoyed trips to Colorado to snowmobile and ski.&nbsp; Winters were spent in the warmth of Arizona enjoying friends, golf, lawn bowling, and woodworking.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A memorial service will be held at the American Lutheran Church, Belleville, KS at 11:00 am. Monday, February 24, 2020.&nbsp; Prior to the service, family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the Church. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship following the service.&nbsp; Memorials may be made to the “Leonard Bridgman Memorial”.

Betty Ann Buhrman, 83, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, surrounded by her family at Brookdale in Salina, KS. She had been a hair stylist/licensed cosmetologist for over 50 years and owned and operated Betty’s Beauty Salon in Wisner, NE and Magic Mirror in McPherson, KS.

She was born December 22, 1936, in Beemer, NE, the daughter of Orville W. and LaVern H. (Engelhardt) Young. She graduated from Beemer High School in 1954 and also from the school of cosmetology in Norfolk, NE that same year. In 1955, she married Clarence R. Buhrman in Beemer, NE.

Betty was a member of the First Christian Church, McPherson Hospital Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, and Progressive Club. She enjoyed China painting, flower gardening, traveling, and playing the card game, Skip-Bo.

Survivors include: daughters, Kim Koehn (Danny) of McPherson, KS, Sheri Kaufman (Steve) of McPherson, KS, and Teri Haugen (Jeff) of Castle Rock, CO; six grandchildren, Justin Koehn (Melanie, Tyson Koehn (Sarah Undem, Anna Koehn (Sean Sandell, Travis Kaufman (Megan, Tyler Kaufman (Jennifer, and Taylor Haugen; four great-grandchildren, Gage Koehn, Madalynn Koehn, Soren Kaufman, and Siv Kaufman; an uncle, Jack Gardes (Erlene) of Bancroft, NE; favorite cousins, Pam Holtz of West Point, NE and Keri Wendt of Council Bluffs, IA; and many extended family and friends.

Helmut was born on February 18, 1929 in Pforzheim, Germany.  He was the eldest son of Emil Hermann and Paulina (Heller) Hoelle. 

 Helmut was educated in Germany to be a train engineer and also attend marine training. 

 He immigrated to America in 1951 with his sister Margaeita to farm with his great uncle and aunt in Upland, Kansas which he did until he became a Marine in the USMC in 1954. 

 He served in the USMC for 4 years of active duty on a Navy ship as a MP in the Philippines.  He was honorably discharged in 1958 at the rank of Sergeant. 

 Helmut worked at Fort Riley as a steam fitter and was the shop foreman until his retirement. 

 He was united in marriage to Betty J. Vinton who preceded him in death in 2004. 

 Helmut loved to go camping and fishing and he and Betty were members of area camping groups for many years. 

 He was also very skilled at sewing and cross-stitching and could darn a sock better than anyone.  Helmut loved to collect, clean and crack black walnuts and made it an annual hobby to fill lots of jars and then give them to family and friends. 

He lived in in Junction City for several years until moving to Dwight, Ks where he live from 1972 to 2018 when he moved to Herington to simplify his life. 

He is survived by his brother, Ulrich Hoelle (Barbara) and step-brother Manfried Klein of Germany, sisters, Erika Dlugosch, Bavaria, Lieselotte Pohl, Germany,and Waltraud Bammes, Herington and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

 Helmut passed away in his home on February 21, 2020. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, an infant daughter Heidy Marie Hoelle and sisters Adelheid Mader and Margareta Painter. 

Helmut will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced in mid-March at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery near Ogden. Muriel Ann Hardin

Samuel Kenneth Stevenson, age 80, of Miltonvale, Kansas, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on May 17, 1939 in Idana, Kansas to Samuel D. &amp; Cleo B. (Angelo) Stevenson.

Samuel attended Clay Center High School, Clay Center, Kansas.

He served in the United States Navy from 1958-1962.

He married Brenda Charles in Oregon on August 7, 1964 and they later divorced.&nbsp; He later married Wendy (Short) Simmons on December 28, 1985 in Harrisburg, Oregon.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

He worked for Sherman Bros. in Eugene, OR, Fred Lucas Trucking in Monroe, OR, C&amp;C Trucking in Concordia, KS and then later Samuel was self-employed as a Truck Driver for serveral years until his retirement.

Samuel enjoyed participating in Tractor Pulls, cribbage, cards and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Stevenson, Miltonvale; his children; Dianna Stevenson-Orndoff (Jeff, Conifer, CO; Charles Stevenson, Springfield, OR; Shelia Copple, Miltonvale, KS; Heather Kennedy (Brodie, Miltonvale, KS; Melissa Jackson (Raymond, Salina, KS; Samuel L. Stevenson (Francisca, Ft. Lewis, WA; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Rita Harms, Wrangler, AK;

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Stevenson, great-granddaughter, Layla Kennedy, 2 nieces, Janice Harms and Maxine Stevenson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 1-8 pm with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.

Kimberly A. Reed-Romesburg, 59, of Tescott, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020. She was born in Salina to Daryl and Twila (Dority) Cook.

She worked at Walmart more than 20 years, in many departments. The one she enjoyed most being the pharmacy.

Kimberly is survived by her husband of 44 years, Randy Romesburg; children, Janelle Timson (John, Sara Meier (Billy, Dale Romesburg, Justin Romesburg (Jami, Brianna Romesburg (Kreal, Elaina Romesburg and Jazmine Romesburg; 12 grandchildren; and siblings, Toni Snook (Brian, Trudy Toothman, Robert Jonte (Tammy) and Kevin Jonte (Jody).

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Janelle.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb., 24, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott.

Dorcas Arlene Nelson, 88, of New Cambria, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 20th, 2020.

She was born in Lucas, Kansas on December 29, 1931, a daughter of the late Ethel Grace (Saunders) and Thayer D. Smith.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Youngdahl of Salina; three sons, Larry Nelson (Claudia, Ronald Nelson (Deb, and Randy Nelson (Cindy, all of New Cambria; brothers, Delbert Smith (Norma) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and David Smith (Betty) of Wheeling, Illinois; and sister, Dee Rathbun (Don) of Leawood, Kansas.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Darrell; her son, Steven Nelson; granddaughter, Stephanie Markham; and son-in-law, Dale Youngdahl.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, February 24th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio Street, Salina.

Graveside inurnment will be Tuesday, February 25th at 10:00 am at Highland Cemetery, New Cambria.

Robert “Bob” K. Kiser, 81, Salina, was born December 14, 1938 in rural Cloud County Kansas and died February 19, 2020 at his home.

Raised in the Delphos community graduated in 1956 a Delphos Maroon attended Kansas State University then graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University.

Bob worked as a schoolteacher, coach, farmer, and retired from Exide Industries as a battery operator.&nbsp; Bob married Nancy Joan Richards in Scottsville, Kansas on April 13, 1968. She passed away February 14, 2004.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Cristina (Donald) Scheibler of Hays; his son, Terry (Elizabeth) of Powell, Wyoming; six grandchildren, Chase (Lexi) Scheibler, Augusta, Ky (Ashley) Scheibler, Dylan Scheibler all of Hays, Hunter, Hannah, and Noah Kiser all of Powell, Wyoming; four great grandchildren, Emma, Kaycee, Charli, and Remington; and his sister, Phyllis Maxine Shivers of Coffeyville, Kansas.

Jettie F. Condray, 74, Minneapolis, died Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at his home.&nbsp; He was born March 31, 1945 near Miltonvale to Warren W. and Clara Genevieve (Fuller) Condray.

Jettie was a graduate of Miltonvale High School and he graduated from Kansas State University with a master’s degree in Elementary Education.&nbsp; Jettie and Mary M. “Peg” Wilkey were united in marriage on November 11, 1972.&nbsp; He taught school for many years and most recently served at the curator for the Ottawa County Museum for 25 years.&nbsp; Jettie was a longtime member of the Clay Center Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are his wife, Peg; sons, Chuck (Angelia, Jes (Laurisa, Joel (Amanda, and Kelly (Cindy); grandchildren, Justis, Lily, Knox, Kellen, Ally, Jake, Trevor, Tyler, Aaron, and Dusty; brother, Jerry (Doris) Condray; and sister, Janet Boss.

Shirley R. Cox-Schroeder, 66, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at her home in Ellsworth.

Shirley was born February 9, 1954 in Richmond, VA to Richard R. and Glennis H. Cox at Grace Hospital. As a child, she was baptized and received her bible from Westover Hills Methodist Church, Richmond. She grew up in Richmond, enjoying the arts, going to the park- Maymont was her favorite, spending time with friends, exploring nature, and swimming in the James River. In the Summer, she loved spending time at the Outer Banks of North Carolina, immersing herself in the surf, looking for shells, and watching the sun come up. In the fall, she loved the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, and could often be found camping with friends alongside a river.

In 1972, she graduated from Hugeonot High School in Richmond. She met her husband, Bob, in Richmond, and in 1987, along with her daughter Ashley, moved to Salina, KS, where she worked for Brown Welding as a purchasing agent. In 1988, she moved to Ellsworth, and worked for Cashco, Inc.

Shirley was a landscape photographer and enjoyed the solitude. In addition, she thoroughly enjoyed genealogy, researching all of her family’s history back to the 1700’s. It was a fascination of hers knowing who her ancestors were and where she came from. She enjoyed reading, and you could often find her nose buried in a book or news article when she wasn’t taking her grandson Lucas on little adventures here and there, or traveling to Colorado with her husband, Bob. She fell into being a sports photographer for the Ellsworth Independent-Reporter and covered the Ellsworth Bearcats, Wilson Dragons, and Central Plains Oilers. She enjoyed this immensely, getting to know not only the coaches, but also the student athletes. In the 5 years of taking pictures of the coaches and student athletes, every one of them left an impact on her heart and in her life. It was a great disappointment to her when her health began to deteriorate, and she could no longer take pictures of “her kids.”

Most importantly, out of all her accomplishments, her daughter Ashley was the greatest achievement of her life. There wasn’t a day that went by that she wasn’t proud of her and her accomplishments. Ashley would later marry and have a son, Lucas. Needless to say, Lucas had her wrapped around his finger from day one. There was nothing Nana wouldn’t do for “her Lucas.”

Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Glennis H. Cox in 1982, and her father, Richard R. Cox in 1999.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Bob of the home; her precious daughter, Ashley Reynolds Barta of Salina; her heart of hearts, grandson, Lucas J. Barta of Olathe, KS; a loving step-daughter, Lacy Benter (Conan) of Hills, IA; and precious step-grandchildren, Iris and Hazel Benter, as well as her dear cousin, Suzanne Crump Ruark of Deltaville, VA, and several other special cousins and friends for whom she considered her family. Shirley was loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Assembly of God Church, Ellsworth with Pastor Exie Barber officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, KS.

He was a caregiver for his daughter Carrie “Annie” until her passing.

His loving family includes his mother, Jane Hampton of Potwin; girlfriend, Mary Ann Smith of El Dorado; siblings, Rebecca “Becky” Builta of Potwin, Kim Trumpower of El Dorado, Cheryl Lewis of El Dorado and Jared Lee Hampton of Potwin; nieces and nephews, Melissa Boyer, Jessica Ritter, Justin Builta, and Christopher Hampton.

James "Pete" Edward Hampton



Mike R. Blanding, 79, Kansas City, formerly of Silver Lake, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020.

He was born April 7, 1940, in Barnard, Kansas, the son of Floyd and Marjorie (Hood) Blanding. He graduated from Barnard High School in 1958. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State University. Mike was a US Navy veteran.

He was an insurance agent in Topeka for many years. Later, he was mail carrier for the Silver Lake Post Office. After retiring, he began working part-time at Lowe’s in Topeka.

Mike was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church and the American Legion in Silver Lake.

In August 1963, he married Marilyn Kay Husted in Minneapolis, Kansas. She preceded him in death on June 13, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

On August 7, 1999, he married Peggy Joyce Herbel in Silver Lake, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Mitch (Shelly) Blanding and Monte Blanding, all of Lenexa, KS; brother, Don Blanding, Moore, OK; four grandchildren, Brianna, Dalton, Max, and Leo Blanding; 3 step-children, Randy (Amy) Herbel, Rhonda (Joel) Eckelman, and Royce Herbel; 11 step-grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Mike enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities and was an avid K-State fan.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Parker-Price Reception Center, 1940 NW Central Ave., Topeka. (Directly south of the funeral home). Private services and interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery.

Mike R. Blanding, 79, Kansas City, formerly of Silver Lake, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020.He was born April 7, 1940, in Barnard, Kansas, the son of Floyd and Marjorie (Hood) Blanding. He graduated from Barnard High School in 1958. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State University. Mike was a US Navy veteran.He was an insurance agent in Topeka for many years. Violet Marie Stull (Friebus, 98, of Salina, went to be with her Lord on February 19, 2020. She was born October 14, 1921 in Dorrance, Ks.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Lydia (Wollert) Friebus; husband Glen H. Stull; sisters, Ella RumLey, Emma Smith, May Friebus, Elsie Sebesta; brothers, Mel Friebus, Ernest Fiebus

Survivors include her daughter, Loretta Barrentine; granddaughter, Christina Strickland; great grandsons, Robert Hamilton and Bryan Strickland; brother, Leo Friebus; many nieces and nephews.

Violet loved being outdoors, planting flowers and lawncare. She really enjoyed reading, sewing and crocheting. Her favorite Hymn was “How Great Thou Art”.

Violet worked in the kitchen washing dishes and did preparatory work for cooks at Sahara Supper Club from 1953-1958, Wilson Livestock Café from 1963-1973, Beverly Sale Barn Café from 1965-1966 and Farmers and Rancher’s Café from 1966-2002 when she retired.

Visitation will be Monday, February 24, 2020 from 2-7 PM with family from 5-7 PM at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford, Salina.

Violet Marie Stull (Friebus

Vernon R. Snider, age 91, of Mankato, KS entered into rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Mitchell County Hospital.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born on September 25, 1928 in Wichita Falls, TX to JR and Fannie (Hightower) Snider.

Vernon was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School. He then went on to Perkins School of Theology at SMU where he met his loving wife while doing missionary work.

Vernon was a member of the Lions Club, Shriners, Jewell County Lodge #11 AF AM for 61 years , and the Retired Methodist Ministers group.

He loved his family and delighted in telling stories and jokes. He also enjoyed being an amateur radio operator, enjoyed photography, sailing, computer work, and anything electronic. He was just an all-around gadget guy.

Vernon served as a United Methodist Minister for over 50 years. During that time, he had over 23 different charges. He enjoyed the many people and friends he met over all those years.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, Mankato, KS; son, Tim (Rita) Snider, Derby, KS; son, Peter David (Milly) Snider, Milford, NH; daughter, Deb (Dave) Warne, Mankato, KS; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, JR and Fannie.

Peggy Anderson Watts, 97, died Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas.

Peggy was born June 7, 1922, in Hill City, Kansas, to Flora Charlotte Sickler and Frederick Steiner. Her mother remarried Oba Braxton “Jack” King and Peggy used King as her surname throughout her adult life. She attended Roosevelt Grade School, McPherson Junior High and in 1940 graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas.

Peggy and Irvin M. Anderson were married January 1, 1941, in McPherson and enjoyed their 44 years together. They lived in Salina, Hutchinson and Russell, Kansas. After retirement, they moved from Russell to McPherson in 1976 and opened The Olde Deli, which operated for 10 years. Irvin died in February 1985.

After the sale of the deli, Peggy managed the McPherson Senior Center Food Service for several years. She was an active volunteer at McPherson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and McPherson County Food Bank.

She especially liked socializing with friends and family and was an avid Bridge player. Peggy also enjoyed needlework, knitting, traveling and cooking. She was still making delicious scratch cinnamon rolls in her 90s.

On February 2, 2009, she and Raymond R. Watts, Jr., were married at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, McPherson. They met while volunteering at McPherson County Food Bank and thoroughly enjoyed their short time together. Ray died on January 5, 2011.

After Ray’s death, Peggy moved first to Pleasant View Estates in Inman then to Ivy Grove at Pleasant View, where she resided until her death. She loved her new home and friends, and staff members were so kind, she could not have wished for better care.

Peggy is survived by her children, Charlotte Crawford (Kent, Knoxville, Tennessee, Marietta Anderson and Michael Anderson, both of Wichita, Kansas.

She is also survived by grandchildren Lara Crawford (Dan Brown, Clare Crawford (David Palmer, Jimmy Miller (Patricia) and Joseph Miller (Brenna, 14 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Irvin Anderson and Raymond Watts; her brothers Gladwin “Jack,” Marvin, Hollis, Kenneth (Joyce, Gilbert Norwood King; sisters Ellen Palmatier, Charlene Martin, son-in-law Warren Norton and close extended family Dorothy and Robert Laird.

A memorial service will be held Monday, February 24, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 111 N. Pine, Inman, Kansas. Lunch follows the service.

Walter (Walt) Richard Lips passed away on February 18th, 2020, while in hospice care at the Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center, KS, where he resided. Walt was born in Columbus, NE on June 8, 1925, to Fritz Rudolf and Emilie (Behle) Lips. Walt’s father was born in Basel, Switzerland and Walt was very proud of his Swiss heritage. Walt is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dora Deane (Hartman) Lips. Walt and Dora Deane met in 1946 at the Gingham Apron Café in Clay Center. Walt was working in the area as a surveyor for REA. Walt and Dora Deane owned and operated several businesses during their long life together: the last one being Metal Muncher. Walt attended KSU, was in the Navy Air Corps, played bagpipes in the ISIS Shrine Pipes &amp; Drums, and all in all lived a very full life. He is also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one brother, and son-in-law Paul Pinter.

John Owen Dalke, 55, passed away on Feb. 17, 2020 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. John was born October 21, 1964, in Hillsboro, Kansas. 

He attended Hillsboro schools and graduated with the class of 1983. 

John enjoyed playing football and golf, serving as the basketball manager, participating in debate, forensics and vocal music throughout high school. In 1987, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Kansas. He remained at KU to receive his Master’s of Business Administration in 1989. 

John worked as a Real Estate broker at the Real Estate Center in Hillsboro. 

He was an avid KU sports fan and bowler. 

He was active in his community through his service in the Son’s of American Legion, Post 366, and the Hillsboro Kiwanis Club. John especially enjoyed being Santa Claus for the Marion County Toy Run. 

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, A.H. and Doris Dalke, and Julius and Martha Penner; his uncles, Paul Dalke and James Dalke; and his aunt Karen Penner. 

He is survived by his parents, John and Delores Dalke of Hillsboro; his brother Mark (Pat, of Hillsboro; his brother Matt (Jamey) of Chapman; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 22, at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, rural Hillsboro. Pastor Gaylord Goertzen will officiate. John Owen Dalke

Peggy Jean Adee was born on January 5, 1935, the daughter of Paul D. &amp; Helen I. (Wilkinson) Rogers. She passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at the Belleville Health Care Center, at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 11 days.

Peggy was raised near Haddam, and attended Haddam Schools, graduating from Haddam High School in 1953. Peggy later attended Cloud County Community College, where she earned her certificate in Healthcare Administration.

She married Robert Adee in 1953, and to this union, seven children were born. Robert and Peggy were later divorced.

Peggy enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and the occasional trip to the casino. She also enjoyed reading her many books, and knitting. While she wasn’t able to take as many trips as she would have liked to Peggy enjoyed travelling when she had the chance to.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, and her great-granddaughter Kamryn Aufdengarten.

Left to cherish her memories are her children; daughters Joan Pape and her husband Larry of Washington; June Stafford of Dacona, Colorado, and Roberta Verhoek and her husband Randy of Danbury, Texas; sons Jack Adee and his wife Kathy of Haddam; Rex Adee and his wife Robin of Arcadia, Oklahoma; Roger Adee of Republic; and Herbert Adee and his wife Liz of Lake Latawana, Missouri; she is also survived by her brother, Grant Tarmen and his wife Linda, of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Peggy is also survived by her grandchildren: Diana Aufdengarten (Brian, Melissa Pape, Robert Pape, Sarah Isaacson (Greg, Josh Stafford (Christina, Jack Adee, Jr. (Tara, Amanda Sufi (Musab, Cassandra Smith (Michael, Rochelle Lazzo (Victor, Rebeka Verhoek, Ryan Adee (Samantha, Regan McWhirter (Chris, Rhame Adee (Meghan, Tabathia Dunn (David, Robert Adee, Miranda Weddington (Anthony, Jordan Adee, and Alex Gaughran; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Direct cremation was chosen, there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at the Mahaska City Cemetery, Mahaska, Kansas. Following the service, the family will greet friends at the Haddam City Hall.

Peggy later attended Cloud County Community College, where she earned her certificate in Healthcare Administration.She married Robert Adee in 1953, and to this union, seven children were born. Robert and Peggy were later divorced.Peggy enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and the occasional trip to the casino. She also enjoyed reading her many books, and knitting. While she wasn’t able to take as many trips as she would have liked to Peggy enjoyed travelling when she had the chance to.Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, and her great-granddaughter Kamryn Aufdengarten.Left to cherish her memories are her children; daughters Joan Pape and her husband Larry of Washington; June Stafford of Dacona, Colorado, and Roberta Verhoek and her husband Randy of Danbury, Texas; sons Jack Adee and his wife Kathy of Haddam; Rex Adee and his wife Robin of Arcadia, Oklahoma; Roger Adee of Republic; and Herbert Adee and his wife Liz of Lake Latawana, Missouri; she is also survived by her brother, Grant Tarmen and his wife Linda, of Las Cruces, New Mexico.Peggy is also survived by her grandchildren: Diana Aufdengarten (Brian, Melissa Pape, Robert Pape, Sarah Isaacson (Greg, Josh Stafford (Christina, Jack Adee, Jr. (Tara, Amanda Sufi (Musab, Cassandra Smith (Michael, Rochelle Lazzo (Victor, Rebeka Verhoek, Ryan Adee (Samantha, Regan McWhirter (Chris, Rhame Adee (Meghan, Tabathia Dunn (David, Robert Adee, Miranda Weddington (Anthony, Jordan Adee, and Alex Gaughran; and 28 great-grandchildren.Direct cremation was chosen, there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at the Mahaska City Cemetery, Mahaska, Kansas. Following the service, the family will greet friends at the Haddam City Hall.Memorials are requested to the family’s choice, to be designated at a later date, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home of Belleville, assisted the Adee family with these arrangements.
