

Ronald Earl Barnes, 72, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Colorado, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020, surrounded by family at his home in rural McPherson. He was a construction worker and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War.

He was born August 9, 1947, in Grand Island, NE, the son of Ronald Anthony and Velma Ellen (Sautter) Barnes. On January 29, 1968, he married Diane Kay Kramer in Rockville, NE.

Survivors include: his wife, Diane of Wheatridge, CO; five children, Christy Stanislav (Michael) of Omaha, NE, Joey Reed (Frank) of McPherson, KS, Carrie Espinosa (Ben) of Englewood, CO, Ronald Barnes (Kate) of Redondo Beach, CA, and Jeffrey Barnes of Lakewood, CO; three siblings, James Barnes of Australia, Roxanne Bellamy (Michael ) of Cozad, NE, and Robert Barnes (Laurie) of Lincoln, NE; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Evelyn Lena Pflughoeft, 95, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 in Ellsworth. She was born November 11, 1924 in Ellsworth County to Gustave and Dorothy (Peterman) Schneider.

Evelyn was a long time resident of Ellsworth where she married Lester Pflughoeft on March 10, 1946. She was a homemaker and dispatcher and director for the Ellsworth ambulance services for many years. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, north of Ellsworth where she participated in LWML, church choir, and many other facets of the church.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Connie Rodriguez (the late Dan Rodriguez) of Ellsworth; daughter, Kathy May (Jeff) of Ellsworth; son, Rickie Pflughoeft (Lois) of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Angie Ptacek (Mike, Chelsee Acres (Josh, Mason May, Dusty Howell, Nikki Howell, and Katie McWilliams (Jason); 16 great grandchildren; sister, Erna Haase (Lloyd) of Ellsworth; brother-in-law, Dwaine Pruitt of Ellsworth; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester; sisters, Betty Pruitt and Edith Compton; and grandson-in-law, Donnie Moore.

Alice’s life began on July 18, 1927 in Ramona, KS.  She was the daughter of Solomon and Emilie (Schneider) Sader.  

Alice was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ramona. 

 Alice is a 1945 graduate of Ramona High School. 

 She was united in marriage to Glenn A. Wendt on October 31, 1948 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. 

 Alice was a homemaker, and also worked as a telephone operator, grocery store clerk, and a cook at the Herington Elementary School for many years. 

 She loved spending time with her family, volunteering at church, travelling to Branson and having coffee with her friends.  

Alice’s loving family includes her children Glenn (Berry) Wendt and Randy (Debbie) Wendt, both of Salina, Mike (Debbie) Wendt and Craig (Marcia) Wendt, both of Herington and Nancy (Terry) Deason of Wichita; sister Mildred Rowe of Herington, brother Tom Sader of Overland Park, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. 

 Alice passed away on March 2, 2020 at Legacy at Herington. 

 She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn in 1999 and stillborn daughter Glenda Rae in 1951. 

 Her family will gather with friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington.  Alice’s funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church led by Pastor Bill Neuman.  She will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Alice Jane (Sader) Wendt

Dr. Marvin K. Lawton, 88, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born in Lincoln Nebraska on December 31, 1931 to Peter and Luzena Lawton.&nbsp; He graduated from Lincoln High School (1949) and the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (1953).&nbsp; He married Joan A Brenneman July 4, 1954 at St Paul's Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.&nbsp; He graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine(1958, served his internship at University Hospital in Omaha, completed a general surgery residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (1963) and was certified by American Board of Surgery (1964).&nbsp; He served as Captain and surgeon at the U.S. Army Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri (1963-65)

Dr Lawton joined the Gelvin-Haughey Clinic in Concordia (1965).&nbsp; He became a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons (1965) and a Fellow in the Southwest Surgical Congress (1966).&nbsp; He was a member of the American Medical Association, Kansas Medical Society, Cloud County Medical Society, Elks, Moose, Country Club, University of Nebraska Foundation, and First United Methodist Church.&nbsp; He was a surgeon and partner in the Concordia Medical Group until 1987 and continued working at the clinic until August 1994.

He enjoyed reading, gardening, and all sports, especially playing golf.&nbsp; He was a devoted family man attending his children's and grandchildren's activities and events, and taking them on trips coast to coast, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii.&nbsp; He and Joan also enjoyed cruises to South Pacific, Alaska, Mediterranean, British Isles, South and Central America.

He is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Janet Ripple (Larry, and son Dr. Steven K Lawton (Shari); 7 grandchildren- Greg Hammond, Eric Hammond, Amanda Hooten (Lucas, Brittney Becker (Kyle, Corbin Lawton (Robin, Carrigan Lawton, and Adley Lawton.

Funeral service will be Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, Concordia, with Pastor Melanie Adams officiating. A private family burial will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Patricia A. Riffel, 81, passed away Monday, March 2 in Salina KS.

She was born October 16, 1938 in Hillsboro KS, the daughter of Melvin and Dorothy (Hoffman) Klingberg. Growing up in the Tampa area, Pat attended Tampa grade school and Hope High School.

On December 2, 1962 she married Eldon A. Riffel in Hope, KS. They spent their married life at their home in rural Hope.

Pat had a great balance of family, faith and friends. She was highly involved in church activities and put God first in her life. She had a passion for music as she was a pianist for Ebenezer church. She also sang duets with Eldon and as well as chorale groups for many years throughout the community. She loved gardening, cooking, and sewing, and making memories with her children and grand-children. She worked in Herington Sale Barn Cafe and West Walnut Market in Herington where she was noted for her pie baking.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and son Kenneth Riffel.

Survivors include her loving husband Eldon of Hope, daughter-in-law Carla Riffel (Kenneth) of Hope, son Dr. Alan Wayne Lyne (Monica) of Ventura CA, son Robert Riffel of Wichita, daughter Susan Albrecht (Mark) of Bella Vista AR, son Cecil Riffel (Cynthia) of Hope, daughter Lorrie Adkins of Hope, son Scott Riffel (Amanda) of Haltom City TX, son Roger Riffel (Jenni) of Omaha NE, sister Marilynn Hostetter (Donnie) of Hope, sister Lynda Hice (Del) of Albany OR, 25 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Joyce (Bartley) Regnier Hemphill, 79, Cherryvale, died Friday, February 28, 2020 in Coffeyville.&nbsp; She was born July 22, 1940 in Miltonvale to Bernice and Venita (Pitts) Bartley.

Joyce and Lucien Regnier were married on August 6, 1958. She was a 1958 graduate of Miltonvale Rural High School and in 1973 she graduated with honors from Marymount College with her BSN (registered nurse).&nbsp; &nbsp;In 1983, she graduated with a master’s degree in gerontology from Kansas State University.&nbsp; In 1985, Joyce obtained a nursing home administration degree.&nbsp; Through the years, she served as nursing home administrator at several nursing homes and she taught nursing at Marymount.&nbsp; &nbsp;Lucien passed away on July 5, 2000 and in 2001, she married Ray Hemphill.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lucien; granddaughter, Missy Regnier in 1993; and grandson, Randon Regnier in 2012.

Survivors are her husband, Ray; children, Bernie (Cindy) Regnier of Bennington, Doug (Tasha) Regnier of Black Forest, CO, and Michelle (Stephen) Loganbill of Cherryvale; step-children, David (Michelle) Hemphill and Dawn Ward; seven grandchildren, Ty (Rachel) Regnier, Nolan (Kasey) Regnier, Matt Regnier, Laura Regnier, Nick (Sarah) Loganbill, Trenton (Dani) Loganbill, and Christine Loganbill; two step-grandchildren, Sam Hemphill and Dalston Ward; and brothers, Junior (Donna) Bartley of Blue Springs, MO and Leroy (Betty) Bartley of Clay Center.

Joyce (Bartley) Regnier Hemphill

Dorothy Runbeck Stout, 87, of Lindsborg died Friday, February 28, 2020 at Bethany Home.  Dorothy was born June 25, 1932 in Kansas City, KS to the late Reginald and Dolores (Gaston) Runbeck.  She married Ellis Stout on August 25, 1956.  

Dorothy grew up in Lindsborg, Kansas where her family owned and operated the Runbeck Brothers Grocery store and the Smoky Valley Roller Mill which her family eventually gifted on McPherson County in 1950 and is now enjoyed by thousands of people every year that visit Lindsborg’s Old Mill Museum.  Never to leave a hungry mouth, by the end of the Great Depression, the Runbeck Brothers Grocery would have accrued close to $1M in today’s money writing off people’s debt rather than let them go hungry.   

Dorothy earned a Master’s Degree from Kansas State University and taught Fashion at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri where she developed the History of Fashion curriculum for the department.

Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, baking, entertaining her friends and quilting.

She is survived by her son: Carl Stout of Mooresville, NC.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son: Charles E. Stout.

Dorothy Runbeck Stout, 87, of Lindsborg died Friday, February 28, 2020 at Bethany Home. Dorothy was born June 25, 1932 in Kansas City, KS to the late Reginald and Dolores (Gaston) Runbeck. She married Ellis Stout on August 25, 1956. Dorothy grew up in Lindsborg, Kansas where her family owned and operated the Runbeck Brothers Grocery store and the Smoky Valley Roller Mill which her family eventually gifted on McPherson County in 1950 and is now enjoyed by thousands of people every year that visit Lindsborg’s Old Mill Museum. Never to leave a hungry mouth, by the end of the Great Depression, the Runbeck Brothers Grocery would have accrued close to $1M in today’s money writing off people’s debt rather than let them go hungry. Dorothy earned a Master’s Degree from Kansas State University and taught Fashion at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri where she developed the History of Fashion curriculum for the department.Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, baking, entertaining her friends and quilting.She is survived by her son: Carl Stout of Mooresville, NC.Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son: Charles E. Goessel – Clifford Unruh, 77, died March 1, 2020 rural Goessel.  He was born December 16, 1942 in Hillsboro to Bennie and Lydia (Weinbrenner) Unruh. 

 He married Lois Becker December 18, 1970 at First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro.  

Survivors include: wife, Lois Unruh of Rural Goessel; sons, Cory (Keri) Unruh of Rural Goessel, Troy Unruh of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Jill (Jesse) Bailey of Wichita; brother, Lowell (Marna) Unruh of Hesston; sisters, Margie Young of Hesston, Julie Tate of Parsons, KS; 4 grandsons. 

 Predeceased by a daughter, April Unruh in 1976.

May Lillian Juhnke, 101, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 7:10 p.m., Sunday, March 1st, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Kidron Bethel Village, Newton, Kansas.

May was born in Freeman, South Dakota on March 1, 1919, a daughter of William J. and Elizabeth P. (Graber) Senner.

May attended rural country school and Freeman Academy, Freeman, South Dakota. May then attended Bethel Deaconess School of Nursing, Newton, Kansas.

She was a member of Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge and a former member of the Salem Mennonite Church in Freeman, South Dakota.

Through the years May worked as a Registered nurse for NorthView Manor, McPherson Hospital, McPherson, Kansas and Newton Deaconess Hospital, Newton, Kansas.

She was a member of the Mennonite Nurses Association, Bethel Alumni Association and the American Nurses Association and she was a life member of Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.

May enjoyed volunteering at the Etcetera Shop, Newton, Kansas, gardening, cooking, loved her nursing friends, and spending time with her friends and family.

May L. Senner was united in marriage to Marvin R. Juhnke on August 12, 1948 at Freeman, South Dakota. He died on December 12, 1999.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry Juhnke and his wife DeDe, of Wichita, Kansas and Tom Juhnke and his wife Diane, of Durham, North Carolina.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ben Juhnke(Emily, Gabe Juhnke(Hannah, Katya Reno and Julian MacDonald and great-grandchildren, Hope Juhnke, Ellie Juhnke, August Juhnke, Henri Reno, Olyver Reno and Nika MacDonald.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; sisters, Katheryn Senner and Hazel Buhler and her brothers, Ray Senner and Robert Senner.

Vernice Lee Etta Horn, 89, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 6:55 a.m., Saturday, February 29th, 2020 peacefully at Angel Arms.

Vernice was born in Marquette, Kansas on January 28, 1931, a daughter of Conrad and Emma (Swanson) Blomberg.

Vernice attended Riverside Elementary School and graduated from Marquette High School Marquette, Kansas in 1949. She then attended Brown Mackie Business School, Salina, Kansas.

She was a member of New Gottland Lutheran Church.

Through the years Vernice worked as a bookkeeper and insurance agent for many companies. Her last 18 years she worked for Shelter Insurance, McPherson, Kansas as a Insurance Office Assistant until her retirement.

Vernice was a member of the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary

Vernice enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling by car or tour bus, visiting family and loved playing with her great-grandchildren.

Vernice was united in marriage to Earl Lester "Les" Horn on April 26, 1952 at Pocahontas, Arkansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas on Barber Street. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a daughter and a son, Debra and Bradley. In 1981 the family moved to Wichita, Kansas until 1993, when they moved back to McPherson. Les died on February 17, 2019..

She is survived by her son, Bradley Horn, of Easton, PA; her sister, Elna Haubold, of Marquette, Kansas.

She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Jessica Lauer(Adam, Amanda Bragg(Mike, Ryan Unruh(Tabatha, Josh Befort, and Tana Befort. her 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor Lauer, Brooke Lauer, Bailee Horn, A.J. Lauer, Kelsi Bragg, Taylen Wall, Zayda Unruh, Ryder Unruh, Ezmae Unruh, Rebel Unruh and Parker Driscoll.

Vernice was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Debra Beck; her husband, Les Horn; her sisters, Ruby Blomberg, Ethel Boggs, Ilene Andrews and Mildred Nelson and her brother, Leslie Blomberg.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel.

Charles Illk, 87, of Wilsey, passed away March 2, 2020, at Morris County Hospital.

He was born in Delavan, Kansas, on the family farm, Herman and Emma (Kinkel) Illk. Charlie attended Olive Branch School and Wilsey High School, graduating in 1950. He married Barbara Joan Williams on January 9, 1954 in Herington, KS.&nbsp;

Charlie was a route salesman for Wonder and Rainbow Bread Companies for many years and was also a foreman for Guerdon Manufacturing. He and Joan owned and operated the Wilsey Grocery Store for a couple years and C &amp; J Gift Shop for 39 years. He later was the Superintendent for BMG Gas Field south of Wilsey.&nbsp; Charlie was a member of Wilsey United Methodist Church and a member of Wilsey Fire Department for 39 years.

Charlie enjoyed buying and selling Fenton Art Glass, and helping Tony with farming and working cattle on Carl Farms.&nbsp; Charlie also had 2 dogs, Cyrus and Gemma, which in his later years became his best friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, and 3 sisters, Aileen Anderson, Bonnie Odau and Illa Carl. He is survived by his children: Joyce Connell (Terry) of FL, Jeffrey Illk (Debbie) of Emporia, and Robert Illk of Joplin, MO; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00, Thursday, March 5th, at Sawyer Funeral Chapel, with the funeral service beginning at 10:00.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Wilsey Cemetery. August 15, 1934~February 29, 2020(age 85)

Donald's life began on August 15, 1934 in Hiawatha, KS.  He was the son of Percy and Dola (Burnett) Starr. 

 Donald was a 1952 graduate of Herington High School. 

 Shortly after high school graduation, Donald enlisted in the United States Marine Corps for four years of honorable duty, then transferred to the United States Air Force in 1956 until his retirement in 1973. 

 After serving his country for 22 years, Donald went on to civilian life taking a few jobs until he started work for the Herington Police Department and served the community of Herington for 17 years. 

Donald was united in marriage to the former Jennifer Ward on June 4, 1960 at the Baptist Church in Herington and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage. 

  Never one to sit idle, Donald loved running errands around town or to the other side of the county.  He knew someone everywhere he went and enjoyed each conversation he had along the way. 

 Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He referred to being outdoors in God's creation as his "Sunday" church. 

 His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife Jennifer Starr of Herington; children Cindy Starr of Herington and Paul (Brenda) Starr of Burdick; grandchildren Crystal Phillips of Herington, Briar Starr of Burdick and Dalton Starr of Oakwood, GA; great grandchildren Mia Lee Cambron and Paschaul Herrera V. 

 Donald passed away on February 29, 2020 at Valley View Senior Living in Junction City.&nbsp; 

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Edwin Starr. 

 His family will gather with friends on Friday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington for his memorial graveside service with military honors rendered by the United States Air Force. Reva M. Chaput, 96, Minneapolis, died Thursday, February 27, 2020.&nbsp; Reva was born September 4, 1923 in Miltonvale to Hershall and Jennie (Briggs) Owen.&nbsp; She lived her entire life in Kansas.

In 1940, Reva and Louis Chaput said their wedding vows in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Miltonvale.&nbsp; Louis passed away in July 1982.&nbsp; Reva was a homemaker, but also worked as an assistant cook at the Golden Wheel Senior Center.

Reva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, one infant brother; six sisters; and five brothers.

Survivors are her children, Virginia (Ray) Rector, Edward (Jutta) Chaput, and Mike (Christy) Chaput; eight grandchildren, Melody (Russell) Leedy, Michelle (Mark) Wyatt, Faunett (Mike) Weis, Marla (Chris) Robins, Trisha O’Leary, Tara (Ryan) Olsen, Terry (Kayleen) Chaput, and Rick Chaput; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-great grandchildren; and sisters, LaDonna Patterson, Phyllis Morganson, and Joann Adair.

Lois Laurine James, 91, of Mentor passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at her home in Mentor.  Lois was born June 4, 1928 in Lincoln, KS to the late William and Myreta (Schmidt) Oetting.  She married Max O.James on March 30, 1952 at Assaria Lutheran Church.  

Lois was the owner and operator of Friendly Valley Flowers, in Mentor for many years.  

She is survived by her daughter: Peggy Forsberg (Gene) of Valley Falls, KS; and sons: David James of Olathe, KS, and Paul James (Patricia) of Burleson, TX; brother: William Kent Oetting (Lynn, of Wichita, KS; as well as 6 grandchildren and   11 great grandchildren.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Max; daughter-in-law: Kristine James; and grandson: Luke Forsberg.

The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, March 12 at Assaria Lutheran Church, 124 W 1st St, Assaria, KS with Pastor Dean Apel officiating.  Visitation with the family will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Thursday.  

Memorials may be made to the church, or to Salina Animal Services.  Memorials may be sent in care of Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456.

Earl W. “Walter” Guise, 83, of Lindsborg died Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at home in Lindsborg.  Earl was born May 3, 1936 in Lebanon, KS to the late Maxwell and Loda Mae (Waddle) Guise.  He married GoldaHaynes on July 15, 1961 at Manhattan, KS.  

He is survived by his wife: Golda; son: Gregory D. Guise of Salina;  sisters: Jerrod Schubert of Salina, and Nadine Guise of Lebanon;  as well as 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and an infant granddaughter.

She was born May 16, 1949, in Ellsworth, to Ralph and Doris (Novak) Larsen. Her father preceded her in death in 2006.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Doris (Bob) White, of Lincoln; daughters, Michelle Bunch and Teryl Bunch, both of Salina; sister, Nancy Marihugh (Ken, of Esbon; brother, Rodney Larson (Melodee, of Lincoln; and four grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Gage Dickey, of Salina, Jordan Wyatt (Amy, of Wichita, and Jaylyn and Tayshon Haggard, both of Salina; and many nieces and nephews.

Eva Marie Ragan, 66, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 28th, 2020.

Eva was born in Ft. Riley, Kansas on January 21, 1954, a daughter of the late Elaine Eloise (Caldwell) Ragan and Joseph Byron Ragan, Sr.

She worked as a Communications Operator with the Kansas Highway Patrol for over 30 years.

Survivors include two brothers, Joseph Ragan (Cathy, of Charlotte, North Carolina and Stephen Ragan (Cecelia) Valley Falls, Kansas.

Cremation has been chosen and no services are planned.

Fenton Renwick “Pete” Talbott died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Greenwich, CT. Born on October 7, 1941, in McPherson, KS to Eldon Isaac Talbott and Laura Helen McKee Talbott.

Raised in McPherson KS, he grew up to be the quintessential success story. In high school he was a leader, scholar and star athlete in four sports, setting state and national records in the javelin and discus. He earned the Stansbury Scholar-Athlete Award for a full scholarship to the University of Kansas. To round out his high school career, he landed the role of Curly in the school’s production of Oklahoma!

In September of 1960, after his first year of college, he married high school sweetheart, Judith Pierson. Within three years, they were young and naïve parents with their first two children. Undeterred by his family responsibilities he went on to receive his MBA in 1965, graduating first in his class. The recipient of the Barrett Fitch North Finance Award and the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society Assistantship and Scholarship caught the eye of Ford Motor Company in Detroit which launched his career.

He went on to hold various leadership and executive positions; including roles at Citibank, Citicorp, Bank of America, First Boston, American Express, Comerica and most recently McKeown DeLeeuw. Through work, Pete and Judy moved to cities near and far, forging friendships spanning the globe and lasting a lifetime.

Pete was a passionate sports enthusiast with a special place in his heart for KU basketball. He was an avid golfer, known as much for his eye-catching pants as for his golf swing. And nothing made you feel more special than being serenaded by Pete on your birthday. He laughed big, loved generously and danced at every party. He and Judy, his wife of almost 60 years, never quit doing the twist together.

Pete enjoyed donating his time and talents as a member of the Board of Trustees for the KU Endowment Association, a board member of the KU Alumni Association as well as St. Vincent’s Hospital and Cornerstone’s both of Santa Fe, NM. He believed strongly that time or money spent on education was never wasted.

He is survived by his loving wife Judith Pierson Talbott, adoring children Blaine Charles Talbott (Kate Shanley Talbott, Mary Megan Talbott (John Moench, Caitlin McKee Talbott Tobin (Christopher Tobin, and Bevan Renwick Talbott; beloved grandchildren William and Hannah, Mary Renwick, Bridget and Beatrix, Pierson and Garnet, Teddy and Grant, his sister Sharon Goss (Max Goss, siblings-in-law Merrily Pierson, Susan and Marty Redstone, Kristi and Allen Whorton, Tad Pierson; and all of their children.

A burial and memorial service will be held in his hometown of McPherson, KS at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday March 7th, 2020 with Reverend Emily Cannon officiating.

Don’s life began on February 13, 1932, in Harvey, North Dakota, the son of Ferdinand J. and Lydia (Seibel) Graumann and unexpectedly passed away on February 26, 2020, at Newton Medical Center. He attended Harvey High School and was proficient in many sports.&nbsp; He graduated in 1951, and he eventually attended Jamestown College where he played college football. He married Marion Dick on November 28, 1952, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, and they made their home on a farm southwest of Harvey. He was not only a farmer, but also worked as an electrician during the long, cold North Dakota winters. Don accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior as a youth and was baptized and an active member of the Mennonite Brethren Church.

Don and Marion moved to Hillsboro, Kansas, in 1993. During his retirement, he traveled with Prudent Tours as a tour guide for 10 years, served in various capacities within the church, volunteered at Tabor College, and helped his family with numerous and various remodeling projects.

His loving family includes his wife, Marion of 67+ years of Hillsboro; daughter, Donita Warren of Fresno, California, daughter and son-in-law, Donell and Donald Tallackson of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Dana Tallackson of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Ian Tallackson, Ana Joy Tallackson, Zachary (Kristin) Tallackson of Houston, Texas, and his sister, CaroLee Derksen of Wichita.&nbsp; He was looking forward to meeting his first great-grandchild, Eden, born on February 10, 2020.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Garfield, F. Glenn, Marvin, and Roger Graumann; sisters, (infant) Viola Graumann, Luella Frueh and Rosella Kessler.

He leaves behind a legacy of servitude, generosity, kindness and loving devotion to his family.

Betty’s life began on January 30, 1941, the daughter of Herbert and Goldie (Dutoit) DeMott in Blue Mound, Kansas.&nbsp; She graduated from Blue Mound, Class of 1959, and married Jimmy Charles Macy on April 12, 1963, in Valley Center, Kansas. She worked at Wheat State Manor in housekeeping and in dietary. She attended the Potwin Christian Church and enjoyed woodworking, crocheting, watching and donating to the 700 Club on television. Betty also wrote many poems and songs, having one recorded and many poems published.

Her loving family includes her sons, Brett Macy (Marci) of Potwin, Kansas, Jerry Macy (Alyson Twiford) &nbsp;of Newton, Kansas;&nbsp; grandchildren, Caleb McNary (Kristy, Heather Garcia (Colton, Isaac McNary (Alana, Tatum Jones (Pierre, Andrew McNary (Amy, Trevor Macy, Rebecca Kendrick (Derrick, great-grandchildren, Drayden, Cailyn, Isaiah, Evan, Harlyn, Quinn, Adlyn, Aedric, Julian, Jett, Tessa, Penelope, Hadley and Scarlet; brother-in-law, Jack Strunk of Goddard and sister-in-law, Judy DeMott of Neosho, Missouri.

Fern Janice Tinsley was born March 25, 1921, the daughter of F. Ivan and Nora (Sellers) Tinsley in Canton, Kansas. She graduated from Canton High Class of 1939 and married Lester M. Hess on June 9, 1941, in Wichita, Kansas. He preceded her in 1982. She then married Virgil J. Stapelman on June 29, 1983, in Tucson, Arizona. Fern worked for Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Furley Café and was a homemaker, farm wife and a great cook. She attended the Church of Christ in Andover and in Tucson and attended neighborhood Bible studies. She was a member of EHU, enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting and making wedding cakes.

Her loving family includes her daughter and her husband, Lamoyne and Gary Eilert of Valley Center, Kansas; son and his wife, Woody and Stacy Hess of El Dorado, Kansas; four grandchildren, LaVonne (Jeff) Kelly of Grand Junction, Colorado, Lesa (Tom) Robke of Lebo, Kansas, Sheri (Donavin) Edgerle and Bryan Hess all of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Shelby (Chris) Bird, Tyson Robke, Lauren (Chase) Hagerman, Seth Hale, Lyric Edgerle and River Hess; one great grandson, Garrett Bird and many nieces and nephews.

Fern Janice (Tinsley) Hess Stapelman

Barbara E. "Sis" Ingram, 83, of Salina, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020. She was born Jan. 16, 1937, in Salina to Charles and Emily (Phillips) Fuller.

Sis married Alvin E. "Tuff" Ingram on June 14, 1955. She retired from Asbury Hospital after 20 years as a laboratory histologist. Sis loved tending her flower beds, reading, traveling, spending time with her grandkids and taking rides.

Crook (Randy); brother, Wayne Fuller; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Emmie; husband, Tuff; and brothers, Larry and Garry.Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, March 1, with family present from 4-6 p.m., at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.Graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, March 2, at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.Memorials may be made to D.A.R.E. or Salina Animal Services, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
