Evelyn Elizabeth Hartman was born on November 29, 1945 on the family farm near Hunter, Kansas, the daughter of David Louder, Sr. and Marcellene Emmot. She died on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her home in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 74.

She grew up and attended school in Hunter, before attending and graduating from Beloit High School.

In July, 1963, she was united in marriage with Willis “Mickey” Hartman. Five children were born to this union. They were privileged to be married more than 21 years, when he died in December, 1984.

She was later married to Jack Robinson for several years until his passing.

While most of her time was spent as a homemaker, she spent her free time fishing, gardening, cross stitching, and doing extensive research on her family genealogy. She also greatly loved spending time at Santa’s Workshop during the holiday seasons.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Roberta; her grandson, William H. Hartman; brothers, Albert, David, and Johnny; sister Martha Channel; and brother and sister-in-law, Mary and Buck Bunch.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Karen (John) Robben of Meriden, David of Beloit, Amy (Alan) Lowther of Dacono, and son Jeremy (Kayse Oberley) of Wichita; sister, Nancy (Jimmy) Slate of Beloit; brother-in-law, John (Carla) Hartman of Randall; grandchildren, Brandy (Diego) Robben-Sanchez, Tiffany (Tim) Schmoll, Holdan Hartman, Miranda Hartman, Lexi, Michael, Paige, and Allie Lowther, and Michael, Emily, and Samantha Hartman; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 10 AM Wednesday, July 1 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place &amp; there will be no visitation. Memorials may be given to the USD 273 Education Foundation.

Johna L. Moorman

Proving the two certainties in life, death and taxes,&nbsp;Peggy Gayle Frankpassed away peacefully in her bed, surrounded by love, on April 15, 2020. After three years of wagering a much stronger battle than pancreatic cancer had bargained for, her Lord and Savior decided it was time for her to come home.

She leaves behind a wonderful family and kitchen full of memories, cookbooks, and seemingly hundreds of other assorted utensils. Her family is now left to figure out their use. Luckily, she handed down her passion and skill set in the kitchen to her daughter, who now by default becomes responsible for the utensil inventory and disbursement.

In August of 1956 she was born the daughter of Gale (deceased) and Esther (Poppe) Doner in Salina, KS. Throughout her 63 wonderful years she touched countless lives. Every person she interacted with felt as though they were, at that moment in time, the most important thing in the world. Her charm, charisma, and kindness were infectious. Many described this amazing wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister, and Gigi as “a bright light,” “a sparkle,” and “special.”

Growing up in both Salina and Wichita with her siblings, Greg and Phyllis who both sorely miss and survive her, she learned to love both communities. On February 9, 1974, her travels brought her back to Salina, and in the pre-pandemic days when bars were open, made an appearance at The Pub on Broadway with her best friend at the time. That night a young man full of machismo and a need of refinement made a lasting impression on Peggy. So much so that when he sent her a Valentine’s Day card the following week, she had to ask her friend “Who the hell is Joe Frank?”

May 1, 2020 would have marked 44 generally magnificent years of marriage for Joe and Peggy. Her husband was her best friend, rock, and advocate, none more so than the past three years. He misses her more than words can describe.

In their prime Joe and Peggy loved to travel, especially to beach destinations. Happiness for Peggy was simply sitting by a pool or beach, with a book or magazine in one hand and a drink in the other, alongside friends and/or family.

Some say the smartest thing Peggy and Joe ever did was have children. Andy and Nicole Frank, Jeff and Kit Frank, and Rebecca (Frank) and Matt Nykiel wish every day she remained a text or phone call away as she had been their entire lives. They provided seven terrific grandkids that absolutely adored the lady they called Gigi.

Ainsley, Josephine (Joey), and Emmylou; Waylon, Boone, and their soon-to-be brother; and Cooper &amp; Tucker were the pride of Gigi’s life. She could not wait to be a Gigi and once given the opportunity she was the best. The absolute best. Able to reach her grandkids on every level possible, she loved nothing more than baking cookies, going shopping, or reading a book with her grandkids. It was impossible to tell who enjoyed the moments more, Gigi or the grandkids.

While being a homemaker and putting family first, she also found time and joy in being a part of two elite sisterhoods: her local PEO chapter and the HMB’s, a group of elite shopping and traveling assassins. Both groups provided her great joy, on wildly different levels.

Peggy was always quick to help when asked, or when she saw the need for support. Her selflessness was natural and genuine, invariably putting those around her first. This characteristic was evident in her involvement at St. Elizabeth’s Parish, lending advice on home decorating, comforting those in times of need, or being ever available to simply listen.

She possessed a powerful, unwavering faith that stood as a testament to how she lived. She embraced the belief that life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, rather God’s plan for everyone. Through this belief she inspired those around her and made them better people, never seeking praise nor recognition, only humbly asking they continue to love and encourage each other in their daily lives.

Peggy will be greatly missed by many but never, ever forgotten. Her husband and children continue to make it their mission to instill every bit of Gigi in her grandchildren and the world around them.

A short graveside service will be held at All Saints Catholic Cemetery on Thursday, July 2 at 1:00 pm for any that wish to attend. The family has requested that all who attend wear a mask or face covering and practice social distancing.

A wake, memorial mass, and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Peggy Gayle Frank

Mary Lou Steele, 86, of Salina, Kansas, and Houston, Texas, passed from this Earth on Monday, June 22, 2020. She was born in 1934 in Marshall, Missouri, the daughter of Delia and John Woodsmall. Mary Lou graduated as valedictorian of her senior class at Mercy Academy in Marshall. She married Robert W. "Bob" Steele, Jr. and moved with him to Salina in 1958, where they managed the Western Auto store in downtown Salina and raised their family. Mary Lou worked in a number of different roles over the years, ultimately as real estate broker for her own company, Horizon Realty of Salina. There she took great satisfaction in helping new homebuyers realize their dream of owning their own homes. She was always a hard worker and known for her energy, her can-do spirit, and especially for her love and support of her family.

Mary Lou was married to Bob, the love of her life, for 60 years before his passing in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, and three brothers. She is survived by her children, daughter Cyndy Norwood of Lago Vista, Texas, daughter and son-in-law Lea and Jeff Levin, of Woodway Texas, and son Mike Steele, of Belton, Missouri. Survivors also include her beloved sister-in-law Katy Woodsmall, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her larger family of cherished nieces and nephews in the Woodsmall clan. Mary Lou ended her days as she lived her life, with a generous heart that lifted up and inspired all she met.

Loren F. Bachofer, 84, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was born August 10, 1935 to Joseph and Bernice (Hammond) Bachofer in Salina.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Neil.

Survivors include a son, Troy Bachofer (Ursula) of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Julie Simms (Shaun) of Salina; son, Randall Bachofer of Elizabethtown, KY; and sister, Kaye Crawford of Salina.

He was a former member of the Salina Breakfast Optimist Club and the Jaycees as well as completing six years in the US Army.

He held several supervisory and branch management positions in consumer finance companies and the Commerce Bank and Boatman's Banks of Kansas City, MO.

He retired in August 2001 from Pioneer Financial Services of Kansas City, MO.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2020 at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pauline loved to bake, and her specialty was banana bread. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her favorite vacation spot was Emerald Island, North Carolina. She never learned to drive until she was 50. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Beach, of Lincoln, Kansas; brother, Elbert "Brother", husband of Peggy Jessup, of King, North Carolina; 2 grandchildren, Richard Miller (Barbara), Shelly Smith; 3 great grandchildren, Tyler Walden (Shea), Ryan Miller, Bret Walden (KC); and 2 great great grandchildren, Kolter, Nash. Dorothy Pauline Milner

Billy Allen “Bill” Clark, 84, Barnard, died Thursday, June 25, 2020 at his home.&nbsp; He was born on March 17, 1936 at his home in Milo, KS to Allen and Margaret Clark.&nbsp; He attended grade school at Milo, KS and graduated from Barnard Rural High School in 1954 and from Kansas State University in 1958.

Bill was married to Marlene Margaret Kelly on September 11, 1960. This marriage was blessed with four children. Bill cherished all the time he spent with his children and grandchildren and, more recently, his great grandchildren.&nbsp; Pony rides and a good teasing were to be expected when you spent time with Grandpa.&nbsp; Starting with their 40th&nbsp;anniversary, Bill and Marlene took the entire family on a vacation to Colorado every five years.&nbsp; Bill spent much time planning and choreographing these vacations.&nbsp; He was the chief breakfast chef, and everyone looked forward to his biscuits, pancakes, and bacon.&nbsp;

He was a lifetime member of the Barnard United Methodist Church where he was baptized as an infant, confirmed, and then married. He took great pride in his grandmother’s founding membership in the church, and throughout his life he served as a youth leader, parish council member, historian, and in various other capacities.

In addition to Bill’s devotion to his family and church, he was a strong supporter of agriculture.&nbsp; He began his lifelong pursuit as a seedstock producer in 1951 with the purchase of a registered Hereford heifer. He began farming and ranching full-time in 1958 first operating as Clark Herefords and later in partnership with his son as Post Rock Cattle Company.&nbsp;

While at KSU, he was a member of Farmhouse Fraternity. He was a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association and a member of the Kansas and American Gelbvieh Association.&nbsp; He served two terms as a director of the AGA.&nbsp; In 2011, he was inducted into the American Gelbvieh Association Hall of Fame.&nbsp; He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids show cattle.&nbsp; As a youngster, he was a member of the Salt Creek 4-H Club and later traveled to Scotland as an International Farm Youth Exchange participant.&nbsp; In 1983, Tavish Scott, an exchange student from Scotland, joined the family and remains in close contact to this day.&nbsp;

Left to celebrate his life are his wife, Marlene, of the home; daughter Feona and Ken Attaway of Hockley, TX; son Leland and Jan Clark of Barnard, KS; daughter Gelane and Tom Cavalli of Lincoln, KS; and daughter Arleta and Chris McManaman of Topeka, KS.&nbsp; He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Keila (Tanner) Leake; Kelsie (Randy) Barta; Kara (Jordan) Erwin; Reed (Charli) McManaman; Kevin (Cassie) Cavalli; Meredith Clark; Melissa Attaway; Quentin Clark; Kyle Cavalli; and Kiley McManaman; 7 great grandchildren; and his siblings, Janice (Wade) Gregg; Kent (Jonette) Clark; and in-laws, Jolene and Charles Brockway; and Kenneth and Reta Fae Kelly.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Jonathan Clark and Megan Clark.&nbsp;

 </figure>Billy Allen “Bill” Clark, 84, Barnard, died Thursday, June 25, 2020 at his home.&nbsp; He was born on March 17, 1936 at his home in Milo, KS to Allen and Margaret Clark.&nbsp; He attended grade school at Milo, KS and graduated from Barnard Rural High School in 1954 and from Kansas State University in 1958.Bill was married to Marlene Margaret Kelly on September 11, 1960. This marriage was blessed with four children. Bill cherished all the time he spent with his children and grandchildren and, more recently, his great grandchildren.&nbsp; Pony rides and a good teasing were to be expected when you spent time with Grandpa.&nbsp; Starting with their 40th&nbsp;anniversary, Bill and Marlene took the entire family on a vacation to Colorado every five years.&nbsp; Bill spent much time planning and choreographing these vacations.&nbsp; He was the chief breakfast chef, and everyone looked forward to his biscuits, pancakes, and bacon.&nbsp;He was a lifetime member of the Barnard United Methodist Church where he was baptized as an infant, confirmed, and then married. He took great pride in his grandmother’s founding membership in the church, and throughout his life he served as a youth leader, parish council member, historian, and in various other capacities.In addition to Bill’s devotion to his family and church, he was a strong supporter of agriculture.&nbsp; He began his lifelong pursuit as a seedstock producer in 1951 with the purchase of a registered Hereford heifer. &nbsp; Richard D. “Rick” Moss, 63, of Windom, KS, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home in Little River, KS. He had worked at Central Plastics in McPherson, was a construction worker &amp; carpenter, and was a delivery truck driver for N. Glantz &amp; Son (a sign supply company) in the Kansas City area. He also worked as a maintenance person for Windom Township. He was born November 10, 1956 in Kermit, TX, the son of Neal and Elizabeth (Powers) Moss. He graduated from Bushton (KS) High School and earned an Associate Degree from Hutchinson Junior College. On August 5, 1978, he married Jeanne “Ann” Lindstrom at the Andover Lutheran Church near Windom, KS. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2015. Survivors include: a daughter, Alisha Rice of Gladstone, MO; grandson, Jordan Rice of Gladstone, MO; siblings, Donna Dent (Jack) of Cameron, TX, John Moss (Rose) of Chandler, TX, and Sharon Turner (Vincent) of Penelope, TX. Emma Jean Andres, 84, of rural Alta Vista passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, June 24, 2020.&nbsp; She was surrounded by family.&nbsp; She was born August 10, 1935 in White City, Kansas to H. Leland and Clara (Pagel) Barber.&nbsp; She married Neil Andres on November 23, 1952.

Jean and Neil worked together for 35 years operating the Andres Insurance Agency which served the Alta Vista, Eskridge, White City and Manhattan communities.&nbsp; Jean loved taking care of their customers serving the community and “doing the books”.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jean was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.&nbsp; She was active in the Alta Vista Chamber of Commerce and served as Secretary/Treasurer for many years.&nbsp; Her passion for the community was most felt in her tireless efforts to lead and support the annual Old Settler’s Day Celebration.&nbsp; She was thrilled when she was honored as Grand Marshall of the parade at Old Settler’s Day last year.&nbsp; She also was secretary treasurer for family reunions and kept excellent records of family happenings.

Jean loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.&nbsp; She was a blessing to many and will be missed my all.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Neil, her parents, daughter Beverly Andres, granddaughters Brandy and Mitzi Bullock and brother Lee Barber.

Sandra “Gayle” Schultz, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in Ellsworth. She was born September 18, 1937 in Ellsworth to Clinton and Bernice (Seymour) Paull.

Gayle was a longtime resident of California where she was a secretary in the ABC School District. She married Lloyd Dale Schultz on September 1, 1955 in Bellflower, CA. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Ellsworth and the church’s Lutheran Women’s Missionary League as well as the Comfort Dog Committee.

Gayle is survived by her daughters, Cindy D’Alessandro (Bob) of Laguna Hills, CA and Tammy Stefek (Doug) of Ellsworth; granddaughters, Kathy Cooper (Roger), Courtney Evans (Kevin), and Christen D’Alessandro; great granddaughters, KC, Emily, and Jayden; brother, Loren Paull of Ellsworth; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; and brothers, Richard and Don Paull.

Growing up Betty attended Salina schools. 

She was married to Willis "Monk" Sutton, later divorcing and Jim Folsom, later divorcing. 

Betty was preceded in death by; her parents; son, George Sutton; two sisters, Naomi Brumfield, Ada May Davis; three brothers, Marion E, Leroy and Lloyd Davis.

She is survived by: three daughters; Joselyn Meador of Abilene, Judy Brady of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Jarda Sutton of Abilene; two sons, Willis Sutton of Abilene and Mark Sutton of Abilene.

The family has chosen cremation. Graveside services will be held 10:00 Friday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center with Pastor Jack Gilstrap officiating. &nbsp; James Lee Engweiler, 72, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 7:28 p.m., Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas. Lee was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on July 24, 1947, a son of Alice Joan (Popp) Engweiler and James Frederick Engweiler. Lee attended Haven grade school and graduated from Haven High School, Haven, Kansas in 1965. He then attended Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Haven, Kansas. Through the years Lee worked as a tool designer for Cessna in Seattle, Washington and for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas. He then began working for Haven Ford as a salesman, Finnin Ford in Dubuque, Iowa, came back to Haven for a few years prior to moving to McPherson and working for Lacy - Regehr Motors as the sales manager. Lee stayed on when it became Midway Motors and he retired in 2018 after 50 years working for Ford. Lee was a member of the Jay Cee's, and a volunteer EMT and Fire both of Haven, Kansas. Lee enjoyed life, his grandkids, cars, sports especially football, traveling to Santa Fe, New Mexico and Surprise, Arizona. James Lee Engweiler was united in marriage to Marsha Jeanne McNew on April 4, 1965 at Marsha's parents house, Hutchinson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Haven, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, one son and two daughters, Craig, Debi, and Keli. Lee was united in marriage to Kathleen Rose Herman-Taylor on August 25, 1988 at Wichita, Kansas. The couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas. &nbsp; James Lee Engweiler, 72, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 7:28 p.m., Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas. Lee was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on July 24, 1947, a son of Alice Joan (Popp) Engweiler and James Frederick Engweiler. Lee attended Haven grade school and graduated from Haven High School, Haven, Kansas in 1965. He then attended Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Haven, Kansas. Through the years Lee worked as a tool designer for Cessna in Seattle, Washington and for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas. He then began working for Haven Ford as a salesman, Finnin Ford in Dubuque, Iowa, came back to Haven for a few years prior to moving to McPherson and working for Lacy - Regehr Motors as the sales manager. Lee stayed on when it became Midway Motors and he retired in 2018 after 50 years working for Ford. Lee was a member of the Jay Cee's, and a volunteer EMT and Fire both of Haven, Kansas. Lee enjoyed life, his grandkids, cars, sports especially football, traveling to Santa Fe, New Mexico and Surprise, Arizona. James Lee Engweiler was united in marriage to Marsha Jeanne McNew on April 4, 1965 at Marsha's parents house, Hutchinson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Haven, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, one son and two daughters, Craig, Debi, and Keli. Verna Marie (White) Tischhauser, age 91, passed away peacefully June 22, 2020 at the Morris County Assisted Living. She was born May 16, 1929 at home east of White City, Kansas to Arthur and Angeline (Sloop) White.&nbsp;

Verna started school in a one room country grade school 4 miles east of White City. Most of her elementary school years were in that one room school. She did graduate from White City Rural High School.

Verna attended school at Bethany College at Lindsburg and at Emporia State Teachers College.&nbsp; She taught school at Highland Rural Grade School (a one room rural school) and later at Wilsey Elementary.&nbsp; She met the love of her life, Wilmer Tischhauser, while teaching at Wilsey.&nbsp; They were married in May of 1949 and had 66 happy years together until Wilmer preceded her in death in 2015

Verna enjoyed helping in her community and beyond, working in the Wilsey UMC as a Sunday School teacher and Board Member. She had the pleasure of serving as District Officer of the East Kansas United Methodist Women and President of the Emporia-Manhattan District of United Methodist Women. Locally she was a member of the Wilsey Rebekah Lodge and served as Morris Co 4-H home improvement leader for many years.

Wilmer &amp; Verna purchased a motor home in 1978 and spent many years traveling from Florida to California and most of the western US.&nbsp; For 30 years, they spent their winters living in Westlaco, TX spending most of their winters making many new friends from all over the US and Canada.&nbsp;&nbsp; Summers were spent at their farm north of Wilsey opening up an on the farm antique store and also where they loved entertaining their many friends and family at the famous “Red Rooster” chicken house.

Verna will be missed by all her family and many friends, but everyone knows that Verna &amp; Wilmer are back together as one of God’s great teams, forever.

Verna is survived by her two sons, Marvin (wife Marsha) and Mike (wife Bev), 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private cemetery service/celebration of life on July 11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wilsey United Methodist Church in care of Sawyer Funeral Home, 137 N. Union Street, Council Grove, Kansas 66846.

WILLIAMSBURG:&nbsp; William “Bill or Mac” F. McMosley, 73, of Williamsburg, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown.&nbsp; Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:45 PM, Saturday at the Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a scholarship fund for young musicians in William’s name.&nbsp;

Bill was born May 29, 1947 in Denver, CO, the only child to the late Will and Virginia (Kinney) McMosley.&nbsp;

During his high school years at Denver East High, Bill was a proud member of the Denver Junior Police Band.&nbsp; This experience played a pivotal role in his decision to pursue an education in music.&nbsp; Bill earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music from Adams State University in Alamosa, CO.&nbsp; He never forgot how cold it was at the top of the Rocky Mountains!&nbsp; Bill was planning to pursue a career as a professional musician, but fell in love with teaching at a small high school on the western slope of the Rockies.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Bill spent his professional career teaching and directing at many primary and secondary schools.&nbsp; Coronado High School and West Junior High School, Colorado Springs, CO; Gibson Junior High School and Clark High School, Las Vegas, NV; University of Akron, Akron, OH; Saint Mary of the Plains College and Dodge City Community College, Dodge City, KS; University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY; and Kansas Wesleyan University, Salina, KS.&nbsp; Bill was well-known for creating and growing band programs.&nbsp;

Two of Bill’s students at Clark High School, Las Vegas, NV, went on to be quite famous.&nbsp; Jimmy Kimmel and his band leader Cleto Escobedo Jr. have fond memories of their time with Mr. McMosley.&nbsp; Jimmy tried to find Bill in August of 2003 to surprise Cleto, but couldn’t find him.&nbsp; When it came time for Jimmy’s birthday celebration in November of 2003, Cleto successfully located Bill and ABC flew him out for Jimmy’s on-air birthday party.&nbsp; Bill remembered that the two always dreamed about being on TV.&nbsp; He described Kimmel as “a very respectful, nice kid, but he was mischievous.”

The communities he lived in enjoyed the time he spent conducting municipal bands, as well.&nbsp; Bill was honored to serve as band director for the Laramie (WY) Civic Concert Band (1993-1994), Dodge City (KS) Community Band (1988-1991), Dodge City (KS) Symphony Orchestra (1990), and Salina (KS) Municipal Band (2005-2018).&nbsp; He also led many bands throughout the years as a guest conductor.&nbsp; One of Bill’s most proud accomplishments was his creation of the Salina (KS) Municipal Law Enforcement Band for school age children in 2010 which he patterned after his experience with the Denver Junior Police Band. &nbsp;Bill successfully secured grants from the Greater Salina Community Foundation and supported fund raisers so that the band members never had to pay. &nbsp;

Bill loved being a teacher and mentor to all of his students.&nbsp; He was a positive influence in the lives of so many.&nbsp; Many of his students were known to call him out of the blue years later just to chat.&nbsp;

Bill was never one to sit still!&nbsp; From high school on, he always had jazz bands that he would pull together.&nbsp; He enjoyed playing private and public events.&nbsp; Two of these bands were The Billy Mac Quartet and The Five Facets of Jazz.&nbsp;

Bill was also known to be quite a talker!&nbsp; One day while gassing up his car in Salina, KS, he struck up a conversation with a gentleman getting gas on the other side of the pump.&nbsp; Pastor Louis Winn was starting up a church in Salina, KS.&nbsp; Bill helped Pastor with the church and became a Deacon at the First Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Bill met Colette (Niebes) in 1992 while teaching at University of Wyoming.&nbsp; They were married on July 19, 2008 by Pastor Winn at First Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Salina, KS.&nbsp;

Bill is survived by his wife Colette (Niebes) McMosley; his step-children Lisa Rabe, Jason (Jake) Rabe, Andy Rabe, Erika Rabe (Jake) and Shannon Rabe (Andy); his step-grandchildren Stephanie Moore, Colton Rabe, Kaleb Rabe, Clayton Rabe and Samantha (Sam) Rabe; and his step-great-grandchildren Peyton and Maisie.&nbsp; Bill loved his family deeply.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt Bonita Kinney.

William "Bill or Mac" F. McMosley

Virgil H. Claussen passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 19, 2020 at Mennonite Manor South Hutchinson, Kansas; Surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Claussen was born August 7, 1925 in Dorrance Kansas, the oldest child of Bertha (Herbel)Claussen and Harry Claussen. 

Virgil attended schools in Ellsworth and Lincoln Counties, but his education was cut short by service to his country. 

He joined the army in 1943 and subsequently was assigned to the 14th&nbsp;Armored Division, 25th&nbsp;Tank Battalion as a tank driver. His unit mobilized to the European Theater where they saw action in the Battle of the Bulge resulting in the liberation of France. 

While in Germany, Virgil met Thea Vogt resulting in a 67-year marriage. To this union were born five children, Tom (Mary) Beloit, Virginia Lynch (Tom) Glasco, Ron (Cyndy) Sterling, Sandra Huenergarde (John) Salina, Alan (Silvia) Griesheim Germany. 

After military service, the Claussen family moved to Lincoln County Kansas and became farmers. In 1956 Virgil and Thea purchased land in Saline County (Hedville). Virgil believed the land should be returned to native grasses and thus began a successful ranching operation. In addition, the family raised hogs, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, a horse or two, a Mexican burro, and an assortment of dogs and cats. Virgil loved animals and never hesitated to adopt another stray pet. 

Virgil was happiest hosting family picnics, attending farmers and Ranchers Livestock Auctions; visiting with fellow producers, while bidding on another prize heifer, but most of all Virgil enjoyed checking cows with his beloved dog- Jet by his side.

Virgil helped organize the Hedville Fire Department, was a charter member of the Rural Water District, a member of Hedville Lions Club, and a proud member of the VFW. Virgil wore his VFW pin and his flag lapel pin with pride always honoring the Flag as the occasion required. 

He was a strong advocate for the underprivileged, always donating time and resources as needed. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Thea, brothers Van Earle, Loyal K, sister Betty Jo. 

Survivors include all five children and spouse’s; eight grandchildren, fifteen great- grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday June 26, 2020 11:00am at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 920 E. Crawford, Salina Followed by a graveside service at Wilson City Cemetery, 455 2nd&nbsp;Rd, Wilson. Visitation will be Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 2:00 to 7:00pm. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Virgil H. Claussen

Jimmy Melvin Dejmal, 93, was born on March 12, 1926 in Narka, Kansas, to Jerry and Ruth Dejmal, and passed away on December 31, 2019, at the Belleville Health Care Center. Jim graduated from Munden High School in 1944, and excelled at playing basketball on various town teams in the area.

Jim married Louise Cleveland in Concordia, Kansas on August 27, 1950, and they had two children, Nancy Louise and Susan Leigh.&nbsp; He spent his life in the livestock business, starting with cattle.&nbsp; In March 1962, Dejmal’s Angus topped the market, bringing the highest selling price of the day at Omaha’s Union Stockyards. &nbsp;Jim transitioned into the sheep business and was the President of the Kansas Sheep &amp; Wool Growers Association in 1973. He owned one of the largest ewe flocks in Kansas and as an industry innovator, was the first to use electric fencing with his sheep. When he wasn’t working, Jim was fond of fancy red cars and polka music.

Jim later sold the farm and moved to Wheatland, Wyoming, then to Wichita, Kansas before returning to work on the family farm.&nbsp; &nbsp;He married Donna Collins on March 20, 1998 and they lived in Concordia, Kansas, where they enjoyed traveling, gardening and watching basketball. Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Concordia.

Jim graduated from Munden High School in 1944, and excelled at playing basketball on various town teams in the area.Jim married Louise Cleveland in Concordia, Kansas on August 27, 1950, and they had two children, Nancy Louise and Susan Leigh.&nbsp; He spent his life in the livestock business, starting with cattle.&nbsp; In March 1962, Dejmal’s Angus topped the market, bringing the highest selling price of the day at Omaha’s Union Stockyards. &nbsp;Jim transitioned into the sheep business and was the President of the Kansas Sheep &amp; Wool Growers Association in 1973. He owned one of the largest ewe flocks in Kansas and as an industry innovator, was the first to use electric fencing with his sheep. When he wasn’t working, Jim was fond of fancy red cars and polka music.Jim later sold the farm and moved to Wheatland, Wyoming, then to Wichita, Kansas before returning to work on the family farm.&nbsp; &nbsp;He married Donna Collins on March 20, 1998 and they lived in Concordia, Kansas, where they enjoyed traveling, gardening and watching basketball. &nbsp; Jimmy Galen Wayne Stout, 73, of Canton, KS, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at his home in Canton. He had worked at Agco in Hesston, CertainTeed, and Swick Guth, Inc., both in McPherson. Jimmy was born on September 20, 1946, in McPherson, KS, the son of Jessie L. and Jewell (Cato) Stout. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1964 and attended McPherson College. He was united in marriage to Elaine Stoneback on January 2, 1966, in McPherson, KS. He later married Caralee Diederich and Linda “Jill” Haggart. Max G. Fleming, 68, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 in Hutchinson. He was born June 2, 1952 in Ellsworth to David L. and Thelma M. (Keehner) Fleming.

Max was a longtime resident of Ellsworth County. He was a hoist operator at Independent Salt for 41 years. He married Pam Bisterfeldt Wilson on November 30, 1991 in Holyrood.

Rita Delene Cross, age 67, of Jamestown, KS passed away Sunday Afternoon, June 21, 2020.

She was born September 3, 1952, in Saline County, a daughter to the late Orval and Norma Windholz.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Wade Cross, two sons: Kenneth Gaylor and Jason Cross, one daughter: Laurie Lynn Baugh.

Rita enjoyed arts, writing, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rules were nonexistent at Grandma Rita’s. Not only was Rita a wonderful mother to her own children, she was a second mom to the town kids. Her door was always open. Rita had a passion for motorcycles and camping. Rita shared a special bond with her two sisters which consisted of several girls’ trips, no men allowed, and Rita being “The Boss”. Rita has always had a love for dogs, so much so that she was known as “The Crazy Dog Lady on the Corner”. Rita was a strong, determined, and fiercely independent women who will never be forgotten.

Rita is survived by 1 daughter and 4 sons, Shannon Baugh of Glasco, KS, Garth Baugh (Mary) of Eureka, CA, Caleb Baugh (Amy) of Abilene, KS, Payton Cross of Concordia, Dylan Cross (Ashley) of Hardy, NE. Several grandchildren and great children; 2 sisters Nancy and Chrissy; 2 brothers Curtis and Joey. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Graveside Services will be held at 10am Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Jamestown Cemetery. Following the burial, a gathering of friends and family will be at the Jamestown Community Center.

Cremation has taken place &amp; there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Post Rock Humane Society.

Nancy’s life began on August 11, 1955 in Eskridge, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Lewis “Wayne” and Gladys (Marken) Bloomfield. 

 Nancy grew up in Eskridge, Kansas and graduated from Mission Valley High School.  

She was united in marriage to Dennis Good on December 1, 1973 in Eskridge. 

 Nancy worked for the Hallmark Store in Topeka until moving to Council Grove. 

 For the past six years, she worked for the Council Grove Schools in the cafeteria.  

Nancy helped her husband Dennis in training racing Quarter horses and then later Thoroughbred race horses and was very involved in the horse racing industry.  Nancy loved being outdoors, horse racing, attending any activities her grandchildren were involved in; such as, sports events, school functions, dance recitals, cheer leading events, plays, or livestock shows.  She was at nearly every event a grandchild was involved in and loved spending time with her family. 

 Her loving family includes her husband Dennis Good of Council Grove, mother Gladys Bloomfield of Eskridge, children Star (John) Veh of Council Grove, Bonnie (Alex) Birzer of Council Grove, Sandy (Alan) Black of Dustin, OK and Furrel (Jamie) Good of Choctaw, OK; grandchildren Nadine Armstrong, Elizabeth Armstrong, Wesley Veh, Jordan Birzer, Brett Birzer, Colby Birzer, Tayle Black, Taevyn Black, Allie Antes, Paisley Good and Everett Good; great grandchild K’Den and siblings twin sister Nina (Dean) Imthurn of Maple Hill and brother Charles (Amy) Bloomfield of Eskridge. 

 Nancy passed away at her home on Saturday June 20, 2020.

Michael’s life began on February 6, 1968 in Ann Arbor, MI.  He was the son of Larry J. and Mary M. (Shumaker) Loomis. 

 Michael was a graduate of Marion High School and worked around the area as a carpenter.  He was skilled at stucco work on buildings, an excellent roofer and could literally build or repair any structure.  He was meticulous with his tools, always cleaning each tool and hanging them back up in the same place after each use. 

 Michael enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing and boating on the Cottonwood River. 

 His loving family includes his children Justin (Melissa Tajchman ) Loomis, Ashley Loomis, Jason Marshall, Andi (Justin) Fike, Trai (Pamela Delzer) Santos, and Bree Fryman; grandchildren Tristin, Tyler, Kai, Conner, Ayden, Kobe, Haven and Carson; his spouse Jody Loomis and brothers John Loomis of Hillsboro and Tim Loomis of Topeka. 

 Michael passed away on Friday June 19, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Marion. 

 He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Loomis. 

 His family will gather with friends on Sunday from 3-4 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion where his memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. led by Pastor Carl Helm. Ruth Elaine (Stigge)True was born July 6, 1945 to Otto and Leona (Beikman) Stigge in Washington, Kansas. Ruth left this life to be with her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2020 in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 74 years.

Ruth attended school and graduated from Washington High School in 1963. She attended Brown Mackie business school after graduation. She met and married the love of her life, Neal True, on February 28, 1965. Neal and Ruth enjoyed 55 years together and their marriage was a perfect example of love and devotion. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Darren, Mark, and Renee. Neal and Ruth owned and operated True Family Center clothing store in Downs, Kansas for 14 years. After the clothing store closed, Ruth worked at the Alco&nbsp; store in Beloit before working at Beloit Medical Center in Beloit until retirement. Ruth enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles but her favorite pass time was spent enjoying her seven grandsons: Blake, Brady, Kade, Jordan, Corey, Kyle and Kray. Ruth was baptized, confirmed, and married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Greenleaf, Kansas. Ruth was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Downs since moving there with Neal and their family in 1971.

Ruth is survived by her husband Neal, sons, Darren True and his wife Lori of Beloit, Mark True and his wife Buffy of Salina, and daughter Renee Walter and her husband Allen of Manhattan, grandsons Blake Walter and wife Nicholle, Brady True and wife Kendra, Kade True and fiancé McKenzie Ast ,Jordan Walter and fiancé Codi Ebert, Corey True, Kyle True and Kray True. Her brothers Norman Stigge and wife Maureen, Dennis Stigge, sister-in-laws Verlene Schaaf, Donnette Oehmke, brothers-in-law Raymond Beikman, Noel True and wife Linda, Bill True and wife Connie and many nieces and nephews.

&nbsp; Royal C. Barten, age 91, of Abilene, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at the Memorial Hospital in Abilene. He was born January 19, 1929 near Elmo, Kansas on the family farm. The son of Fred and Julia (Lauer) Barten. Royal attended Chapman Schools and graduated from Chapman High School. Royal spent his entire life on the family farm raising cattle and farming. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the lake waterskiing and in later years he was an avid square dancer. He is survived by his sister Velma Becker of Abilene, sister-in-law Pauline Barten of Wichita, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Alfred, Herbert, and Alden Barten, sisters Alberta Snitker, Dorothy Barten and an infant sibling. Graveside services for Royal will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the New Basel Cemetery south of Abilene with Pastor Bill Graves officiating. Friends may sign the register book Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.&nbsp;&nbsp;
