Fay Laverne (Gregory) Pejsha, age 87, died on December 1, 2020, at her 
home in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Fay was born on January 24, 1933, in 
Ellsworth, Kansas to the late Wilmer A. and Olga (Schwartzel) Gregory.

She was a 1950 graduate of Ellsworth High School, Ellsworth, Kansas.
 Fay married Laudie C. Pejsha in Ellsworth, Kansas on October 29, 1955. 
They moved to Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1958 where Laudie joined the Air
 Force and was stationed at the Little Rock Air Force Base in 
Jacksonville, Arkansas. Fay worked in the retail grocery business as a 
meat wrapper for 59 years. She also worked at Chambers Drug Store.
 Fay loved being outdoors working in her vegetable garden and tending to her flowers.
 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 
husband, Laudie (P.J.) Pejsha on June 10, 1996; sisters, Judy Gregory of
 Ellsworth, Dorothy Ptacek of Wilson, Ona Dupes of Gypsum, and Ester 
Snowball of Salina; and brother, Larry Gregory of Ellsworth. 
 Survivors include brother, George (Janice) Gregory of Clay Center; 
20 nieces and nephews, Dan Besthorn, Alma (Mattas) Deutsch, Anita 
(Dupes) Preston, Greg Dupes, Judy (Dupes) Kobetich, Ona (Dupes) Hough, 
Ralph Dupes, Ruth (Dupes) Howell, Steven Dupes, Daron Gregory, Troy 
Gregory, Wilma (Mattas) Olds, Larry Ptacek, Maurice Ptacek, Melvin 
Ptacek, Michael Ptacek, Tom Ptacek, Leslie Snowball, Perry Snowball, and

Anita Stang, age 100, former Victoria, Kansas, resident died Monday, November 30, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society-Ellsworth Village, Ellsworth, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born

November 17, 1920 in Catharine, Kansas to Jacob A. and Elizabeth (Staab) Schmidt.&nbsp; She married Albert Stang on June 10, 1946, in Catharine, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on March 3, 1976.&nbsp;

She was a CNA at St. John’s Nursing Home in Victoria, and at the Hadley Hospital in Hays for many years.&nbsp; She was a volunteer for the Senior Companion Program in Hays for many years and was recognized as Senior Companion of the Year.&nbsp; Anita grew up in Catharine, and attended the Catharine Grade School.&nbsp; Her faith was her foundation of her life.&nbsp; She lived in Victoria until moving to Hays in 1975, then moved to Great Bend in 2000, and then to the Ellsworth Village in 2015.&nbsp; Anita was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Great Bend, the Victoria Daughters of Isabella, the Victoria V.F.W. Auxiliary, and was a Past President. &nbsp;

Survivors include one son, Dr. Patrick Stang and wife, Cathy, Great Bend, KS; two daughters, Marilyn Pflughoeft and husband, Roger, Wichita, KS; Ruth Brunts and husband, Richard, Alamogordo, NM; one daughter-in-law, Ruann Stang, Ellsworth, KS; three grandchildren, Dylan Stang (Kristel); Elizabeth Stang and Alex Richards; John Stang; four great grandchildren, Asher, Avery and Abram Stang; and Viviann Richards.

Keith Wayne Thomas, age 74, passed from this life on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at his home in Belleville, Kansas.&nbsp; Keith was born on July 11, 1946 in Belleville, Kansas to Clyde B. and Betty L. (Tharp) Thomas.

Keith was raised in a home north of Belleville, Kansas, until the age of seven.&nbsp; His family then moved to a farm south of Narka to be closer to his family who operated a dairy.&nbsp; Keith attended his first years of school in Belleville and continued his education through his freshman year at the school in Narka.&nbsp; Keith graduated from Munden High School in 1964.&nbsp; After high school, Keith attended and graduated from Fairbury Junior College. While in college, Keith joined the Army National Guard and completed basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.&nbsp; He later completed AIT in Aberdeen, Maryland, and when his National Guard unit was activated, Keith was stationed at Fort Collins, Colorado.&nbsp; After his time spent in the National Guard, Keith attended Fort Hays State University and graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business.

On May 11, 1968, Keith married the love of his life, Janice A. Thornton, at the United Methodist Church in Republic, Kansas.&nbsp; Keith and Jan were blessed with two children, Annette and Mark.&nbsp; Keith worked side by side with his father, Clyde, operating a Grade A Dairy Farm and took great pride that the dairy spanned four generations of the Thomas Family.&nbsp; Through Keith’s hard work and devotion to his family, he instilled in his children good work ethic and values.&nbsp;

Some of Keith’s favorite family activities were 4-H projects, including showing dairy cattle at the fair each year.&nbsp; After the cows were milked for the day, Keith and his young children could often be found swimming in the pond east of the farm.&nbsp; Keith enjoyed hunting with Mark, and took a college night class with Annette to hone their painting skills.&nbsp; Keith was proud of his children, and attended their school activities, including sports and music.&nbsp;&nbsp; The family took many trips to the drive-in movie theater; with the kids riding in lawn chairs in the back of the pickup.

Later in life, Keith worked away from the farm.&nbsp; He worked at the FSA office, MC Industries, 21st Century Dairy, Reinke Manufacturing, 5 T’s Trucking with his son, Mark, and most recently, he worked at the Belleville After School Program.&nbsp; He continued to spend time on the farm operating his hay business with his grandchildren by his side.

Keith was a member of the American Legion Post #345 of Cuba, the Narka Presbyterian Church, and was involved with 4-H for many years. In 2003, Keith and Jan moved from the family farm to Belleville, Kansas.&nbsp; Much of their time was spent on family activities with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.&nbsp; Throughout Keith and Jan’s 52 years of marriage, they enjoyed their church family, friends, and neighbors. They spent lots of their time camping, boating, fishing, dancing, and attending sales and auctions looking for treasures.&nbsp;

Keith had seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; they were all a huge part of what he did each day.&nbsp; Keith enjoyed supporting his family.&nbsp; He worked hard to instill the same work ethic and values that he possessed.&nbsp; Keith took the grandkids fishing, swimming, boating, tubing, bike riding, and to hunter’s safety courses; he enjoyed making derby cars with them and made sure they attended the fair together each year.&nbsp; He spent many hours teaching them to drive and to safely operate farm machinery used in his hay business.&nbsp; Keith could often be found at the farm, with his grandchildren near, doing projects on the farm.&nbsp; Any road trip that was taken included the clearance aisle at Wal-Mart.&nbsp; &nbsp;Wiener roasts in the driveway were his favorite way to celebrate most occasions if weather permitted or just to feed the crew.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde B. and Betty L. Thomas.&nbsp; Clyde’s second wife, Marcille Wheeler Thomas, and brothers-in-law Roger Strnad and Larry Zink.

Keith will be forever remembered by his wife Janice of the home; daughter Annette Knoll (Eric Nondorf); son Mark Thomas (Joanna Branson); grandchildren Kelsey Pickard (Joey Pickard), Kendall Walker (Taylor Krause), Abigail Knoll, Kirby, Gentry, and Laney Thomas.&nbsp; Great Grandchildren Kloey, Dollie, and Kyzer Pickard; sister Cheryl Strnad Runft (Myron Runft); sister-in-law Linda Zink; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paul and Cindy Thornton; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and neighbors.

A private, family Memorial Service will be held in January 2021.

&nbsp; Una Bee Carley-Miller, 88, of Athens, TX, passed away on December 2, 2020, at McPherson Hospital with her daughters by her side. Una Bee had been staying with her daughters, Carley and Sara, in McPherson, KS for the last three weeks. Una Bee was the youngest of seven daughters born to L.A. and Pansy Carley in McPherson, KS. Virginia Lee Carley passed at the age of seven months. Jimmie, Teddie, Marjorie, Freda, Jeanette, and Una Bee were known as “the Carley girls.” She graduated from McPherson High School in 1950. Una Bee’s first job out of high school was at Farmers Alliance. In later years, she worked for Smokey Billue at Underground Storage in Conway, KS. Una Bee was a member of Sweet Adelines International, Daughters of American Revolution, and Lake Athens Baptist Church in Athens, TX. In 1980, she moved to Duncan, OK and married Claude “Bud” A. Miller, III. In later years, she and Bud lived in San Angelo, TX and was a partner in cemeteries in Duncan, OK, San Angelo, TX, and Del Rio, TX. After retiring, they moved to Athens, TX. She is survived by: her husband, Bud Miller of Athens, TX; daughters, Carley Jo Carpenter of McPherson, KS and Sara (Eric) Folck of Galva, KS; step-sons, Grant (Brandy) Miller of Frisco, TX and Aaron (Nikki) Miller of Wichita, KS; her loyal dog, Glory Bee; grandchildren, Amber, Haylee, Christian, Carter, Audrey, and Jessica; and great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Maddison, Scarlett, Katherine, Emmy Lou, and Ella Mae. DeForrest H. “Boots” Barclay, 84 of Wakefield, died December 2 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit.&nbsp; He was born April 28, 1936 in Clay County.&nbsp; Boots graduated from Wakefield High School.&nbsp; He married Janice Brighton on June 24, 1956 and she survives.&nbsp; Boots farmed all of his life in the Clay County and Wakefield areas.&nbsp; He also worked on Fort Riley for four years.&nbsp;

He worked for O.C.C.K in Concordia for many years, assembling bolts for breakaway basketball boards, and also helped train many other employees with their jobs.&nbsp; Allen was very Independent individual having owned his own home in Concordia for many years.&nbsp; He enjoyed playing the guitar and liked Reba McEntire, and most of all spending time with his family and friends, he will be truly missed.

He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia and Special Olympics Kansas.&nbsp; Allen participated in Basketball in the early 80’s in the Special Olympics Kansas where they won a State Title.

&nbsp; Garry J. Quested, 77 of Abilene passed away December 1, 2020. He was born December 9, 1942 in Salina, Kansas the son of George and Velma (Loader) Quested. 

Garry joined the Army and served in the National Guard from 1964 - 1992. 

On June 29, 1973 he was united in marriage to Karen Ballantyne. She preceded him in death August 11, 2017. 

Garry served with the Dickinson County Sherriff Office and later worked security at the Eisenhower Museum. 

He is survived by his grandchildren: Kayla Quested, Gabrielle Pulliam, Conner Green, Garrett Pulliam, Bruce Talbert and Kirsten Talbert. Eight great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Karen, four brothers Glen, Gordon, Gerald, Gilbert and one sister Kathleen Quested Young.

Garry J. Quested

Kathryn (Kathy) Lorenson, 86, of Salina, KS, passed away December 1, 2020, after living with Parkinson's Disease for many years. She was born to Richard and Katie (Zwick) Willhaus on November 15, 1934, in Sterling, KS. She graduated from Nickerson High School in 1953 and received her degree in Education from Emporia State University in 1956.

Kathy married Linden (Lindy) Lorenson in 1963 in Salina, KS where they spent the next 45 years together until Lindy died in 2009. She is survived by her daughter Lynette Lorenson of Salina, son Kent Lorenson (Jennifer) of Salina, grandchildren Libby Lorenson, Trey Lorenson, and Abigail Crawford all of Salina, brother William Willhaus (Ida May) of Kansas City, MO, and sister Rose Jennings of Holton, KS, sister-in-laws Marilyn Willhaus of Sterling, Rosie Willhaus of Springfield, MO, and Esther Lorenson of Oakhurst, CA, and brother-in-law Richard Lorenson of Salina. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Harvey Willhaus and Fredrick Willhaus

Kathy taught third grade for 8 years, including one year in Germany. She loved to travel and spent many years visiting US cities with her husband and camping with her family. Kathy gave tirelessly of her time to community organizations for the benefit of others. She was an integral part Trinity United Methodist Church for 57 years, teaching Sunday School, being president of UMW on multiple occasions, chairing and being a member of numerous church committees. She is a multiple past president of the Family and Community Education Unit in Salina. The Girl Scouts were her most cherished organization, having started as a leader in 1975. During her time as a Girl Scout, she was on numerous committees, a consultant for older Girl Scouts, an adult trainer for the council, chairperson of the Gold Award committee, a member of the executive council committee, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Central Kansas Council. She has received the Plains Award, the Appreciation Pin, the Outstanding Volunteer Award, and the Thanks Badge for her work in Girl Scouts.

Vincent Jerome Pistora, 91, of Salina, passed away November 27, 2020.&nbsp; He was born October 8, 1929. He was raised in rural Westfall to parents Frank and Amelia (Jilka) Pistora.

He graduated from Beverly Rural High School, served in the U.S. Navy and was sworn in by friend Captain Don Ross, of Beverly. Vincent was married for more than 50 years to Margaret Abell originally from the Barnard/Tescott area. He was a machinist and retired from Exline in Salina. He is a member of the Trinity Lutheran church in Salina.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Amelia (Jilka) Pistora Sr.; wife, Margaret (Abell) Pistora; son Billy Stock; brothers Benjamin Pistora and Frank Pistora Jr; sister, Edna Suelter.

Survivors include his children, Michael Stock of Goodland, Ernie (Anna) Stock of Topeka, Roxyann (Doug) Pruitt of Beloit, and Sally (Brian) Keeler of Gypsum; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Nancy Anne Ottley, 59, of Moundridge passed away November 25, 2020. Her family will have a private graveside service on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Nancy was born to Kenneth and Julia (Snead) Ottley in Salina on February 22, 1961. She was a resident of Moundridge for the last several years. She was a graduate of Salina Central High School class of 1979. She enjoyed caring for children, working for several daycare centers and running one out of her home for several years. She enjoyed the company of her beloved dog Pebbles and more than anything loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was proud to be a Breast Cancer survivor. She was known for her love of the color purple, spending as much time as possible in her garden, and visiting with her friends and family.

Survivors include sons, Chad Colgin (Stephanie), Kannapolis, North Carolina and Kenny Colgin (Jamie), Galva; siblings, Dan Ottley (Cheri), Grainfield, Sharon Burnett (David), Salina, David Ottley (Andrea), Victoria, Julie Kocour (Mike), Atchison, Barbara Hughes (Jason), Topeka, and two grandchildren. Nancy Anne Ottley

K.L. “Kay” Klaumann was born in rural Republic County, Kansas, on November 13, 1934, to Leonard Charles Klaumann &amp; Tillie Lee (Morgan) Klaumann.

He graduated from Belleville High School in 1952, and then attended KSU &amp; Fairbury Junior College. He married Marcia A. Wichman in Fairbury, Nebraska, on June 26, 1955. The couple are parents of two daughters, Teresa Kay (born in 1956) and Michelle Anne (born in 1959.)

Kay owned and operated an insurance agency and a community bank during his adult working life. He was also a farmer, a pilot, a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Belleville JayCees, the Belleville Masonic Lodge A.F. &amp; A.M. #129, Order of Easter Star, and other various organizations concerned to his business career. Kay served as a member of the Belleville City Council, the Belleville Flyers, as well as owning and operating the Aero Auto Mart dealership in Belleville. He was instrumental in bringing the Kansas Junior Miss Pageant to Belleville, and served as the president of that board for many years.

He loved spending time on his farms, caring for his pets and cattle herds. He thoroughly enjoyed playing pitch with his friends.

Kay passed away on December 1, 2020, in Newton, Kansas, after a long struggle with Lewy body dementia. He is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Phil Purinton, and sister-in-law Margaret Wichman.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marcia, daughter Teresa Klaumann and her husband Brian Vazquez of Topeka, Kansas, daughter Dr. Michelle Klaumann of Bullhead City, Arizona, and granddaughters Bailey &amp; Lorna Vazquez.

Private, family graveside services were chosen, and will be held at Belleville City Cemetery. Friends may sign Kay’s book at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020, from 9am – 4pm.

He was also a farmer, a pilot, a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, Belleville JayCees, the Belleville Masonic Lodge A.F. &amp; A.M. #129, Order of Easter Star, and other various organizations concerned to his business career. Kay served as a member of the Belleville City Council, the Belleville Flyers, as well as owning and operating the Aero Auto Mart dealership in Belleville. He was instrumental in bringing the Kansas Junior Miss Pageant to Belleville, and served as the president of that board for many years.He loved spending time on his farms, caring for his pets and cattle herds. He thoroughly enjoyed playing pitch with his friends.Kay passed away on December 1, 2020, in Newton, Kansas, after a long struggle with Lewy body dementia. Lauren James Roe, age 91, of Mankato, Kansas entered into rest on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Good Samaritan in Superior, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was born on January 24, 1929 in Montana Township of Jewell County, Kansas to Clare and Della (Peck) Roe.

In 1931 the young Roe family bought a farm in Harrison Township and Lauren lived in Harrison Township the rest of his life.&nbsp; Lauren grew up in the Olive Hill community and graduated from eighth grade in country schools there.&nbsp; He then attended Mankato High School graduating in 1946.

Lauren attended Kansas State University one year and always regretted his short tenure there, but times on the farm in post WW II Kansas were very busy, and his labor was acutely needed on the farm.

In 1951 Lauren enlisted for two years in the US Army, a time he always referenced and was very proud of. While first stationed in Colorado on July 4, 1951 he had a blind date with Virginia Ann Lewis of Brush, Colorado, who was a student at the University of Colorado.&nbsp; Lauren and Virginia had a long engagement because Lauren was deployed overseas with the Allied Occupation Force in Germany and Virginia completed her college degree.&nbsp; They were married August 2, 1953, at the Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush.

Lauren was a farmer and rancher and an integral part of many successful family farm partnerships with his father, brother, his son and a nephew, Harrell.&nbsp; In various years of farming he especially enjoyed combining wheat, tillage with the large four wheel drive tractors and attending livestock auctions to purchase cattle.

Keith Eugene was born in 1954 and Barbara Ilene in 1955.

Lauren had an enthusiastic embrace of life and family.&nbsp; He was not afraid of a high profile and being active in whatever community activity or pursuit he was involved in.&nbsp; Such activities would include board service with the rural electric cooperatives and the First Presbyterian Church in Superior, plus work with the Kansas Livestock Association and Keith’s political campaigns.&nbsp;

Lauren was widely known for his purple shirts, boots and hats and wearing Native American bolos and belt buckles.&nbsp; He was quick with a hug or warm greeting that declared you were just the person he wanted to see that day.

Virginia was his favorite dance partner and travel companion and the love of his life.&nbsp; For decades they were aggressive at taking many short trips often overnight to dances, sporting events of K-State or Colorado, visiting grandchildren in Johnson County, Kansas or a great nephew’s graduation in Wyoming.&nbsp; They had dances with live bands for their 25th, 40th, 45th and 50th wedding anniversaries, planned by Virginia and enjoyed by their family and the entire community.

After Lauren’s stroke in 2007 he was still able to spend seven more years at the farm because of his primary caregiver Virginia.&nbsp; As recently as 2009 they attended every KSU home football game.&nbsp; Lunch at the Lovewell Lake Marina was required several times a week.

Virginia and Lauren were married for 65 years before she died November 5, 2018.&nbsp;

Lauren is survived by son, Keith Roe(Bethany) of Mankato; and daughter, Barbara Luhrs of Overland Park.&nbsp; His brother, Bill Roe(Verla) of Mankato; grandchildren Victoria Lynch(Kip) of Overland Park; Lauren Luhrs of Kansas City, Missouri; Sasha Kuchinski(Mike) of Wichita, Kansas, and great grandchildren Rebecca Lynch, Amanda Lynch, Hannah Lynch, and Parker Kuchinski.

Lauren was preceded in death by his sister, Ilene Joyce(Roe) Headrick.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday December 5, 2020 at the Olive Hill Cemetery, Jewell County Kansas, with Kerma Crouse officiating.&nbsp; Military Honors conducted by the American Legion &amp; VFW of Superior, Nebraska.

He was a construction worker and a truck driver. Ronnie was born on December 22, 1938, in New Rochelle, NY. &nbsp; Doris Jean (Crumpacker) Leach Morse, 94, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 30, 2020, at The Cedars, McPherson. Doris was born on February 28, 1926, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Leonard B. and Modena R. (Heckman) Crumpacker. She was the first of two daughters. Doris attended McPherson elementary schools, McPherson High School, and McPherson College. She also completed her graduate study through Kansas State University. Doris taught in the Canton-Galva High School for 31 years. She enjoyed sponsoring Pep Club and Kayettes for a number of those years. Doris married Don Carlos Leach on June 4, 1947, and they shared two sons, Don Douglas and Dale Leonard. Don preceded her in death on March 27, 1974. On July 7, 1984, Doris married Perry Morse and with that union, she became step-mother to Ken Morse and Connie (Morse) Wilson. Perry also preceded her in death on November 13, 2005. Doris was a faithful wife and mother and enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of McPherson Church of the Brethren where she enjoyed singing in the choir, working in the Sunday School, and also in the Women’s Fellowship. She considered the music in the church a real blessing. After retiring, Doris enjoyed sport activities and traveling and was privileged to visit all 50 states as well as some foreign countries. Surviving member of her family include: brother-in-law, Dick Wagoner of Perry, IA; two sons, Don Douglas Leach and wife, Anita, of McPherson, KS and Dale Leonard Leach and wife, Deanna, of Marion, KS; five grandchildren, Michael D. Doris Jean (Crumpacker) Leach Morse

Lloyd William Haase, 92, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in Ellsworth, KS. He was born December 20, 1927 to Albert G. and Ella A. (Pflughoeft) Haase on a farm northwest of Ellsworth.

Lloyd was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of north Ellsworth where he was a lifetime member. He attended eight years of school at St. Paul’s Parochial School. Lloyd served his country in the U.S. Navy for five years during the Korean War, at home and abroad. He retired from Northern Natural Gas Company after 33 years of service as a shift foreman. Lloyd was a lifetime member of both the Ellsworth VFW Post 6485 and American Legion Post 174. He resided in Ellsworth County until his death.

He was united in marriage to Erna Schneider on June 6, 1948 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. To this union was born one daughter, Sandra Kay. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 72 years, Erna of Ellsworth; daughter, Sandra Kay Rogers of Solomon; grandsons, Brian Rogers (Danielle) and Kevin Rogers (Traci); granddaughters, Erinn Komp (Jordon) and Teisha Carpenter (Levi); great grandsons, Lane Rogers, Logan Rogers, Hudson Rogers, Landyn Rogers, Kayson Rogers, and Ryker Carpenter; great granddaughters, Kynnedy Komp, Decklyn Komp, Joslin Rogers, and baby girl Carpenter; as well as, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Ernie Bohl and Leola and Ed Neuschafer; and son-in-law, Charles Rogers.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date, spring 2021.

Roy Alan Van Buren moved to Heaven on November 29, 2020 due to complications of Covid-19.&nbsp; He was born February 16, 1947 in Junction City to Earl and Alice (Pilgrim) Van Buren. They moved to Marion when Roy was six months old. He attended Marion schools, graduating from Marion High School in 1965.&nbsp; Roy continued his education at Friends University. He served his country in the Army National Guard and was on active duty during the Vietnam War.

Roy was an aircraft engineer for 40 years, retiring from Beechcraft in 2009. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Lieurance on April 10, 1971 in Wichita. The greatest joy of his life was reading, studying, and teaching the Word of God in many Sunday School classes and Bible study groups over the years. Roy was blessed with the ability to fix, repair, or build almost anything.&nbsp; He spent many hours working with wood, producing furniture and turning bowls on his lathe.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Jesse Branson. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Hillsboro; his sisters, Anita Galbraith of Defiance, OH, Jan (Mike) Erpelding of Crete, NE, Khrista (Rick) Branson of Ashland, KS; mother-in-law, Delores Lieurance of Wichita and several nieces and nephews.

Roy Alan Van Buren

&nbsp; Mervin L. Sexton was born on December 17, 1932 south of Abilene on the family farm to Lee and Katie (Burton) Sexton. He attended the Knox School District 44 from the 1st through the 8th grade and graduated from Abilene High School in 1950 where he met the love of his life Cecelia Ann Zey Sexton. After graduation Mervin entered the Navy on November 1950 and while home on his 2nd 30 day leave, was stricken with polio and retired from the Navy in May of 1953. Following the Navy, he attended Brown Mackey in Salina where he graduated with an accounting degree in 1957, and began his lifelong career in the livestock auction market industry at Reynolds Sale Barn in Abilene. On June 15, 1958 he went to work for then Koenig Sale Barn in Manhattan where he bought in as a partner and was owner/operator of the current Manhattan Commission Company Inc. from 1969 until present, where he was admired and respected by the cattle industry members. Along with the sale barn Mervin also owned the KSS Truck Line Inc., Manhattan Livestock Exchange Inc., Sale Barn Café and Lees Western Wear, were added throughout the years to his accomplishments. Mervin was member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club, the Eagles Club, the VFW, the American Legion, and the DAV. Mervin and Cecilia were united in Marriage on March 3, 1953 in Great Lakes, Illinois and were blessed with 5 children, Jarda Fitzwater (Bruce) of Derby, Kansas, Mark Sexton (Nikki) of Manhattan, Christine Graham of Topeka, Jill Ross of Manhattan, sister Melva Loader of Enterprise, 16 grandchildren, and one step grandchild. He is preceded in death by his daughters Amy Hodges, Deanna Sexton, sister Ilene Sexton Ross. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him; he was a kind, fair, courageous, extremely intelligent man with a love for God, his family, and his Sale Barn. We will forever miss this gentle man who always has a kind word for everyone and who was a role model for many. Mervin passed away Monday, December 1, 2020 at his home in Manhattan at the age of 87. Mervin L. Sexton

Donald M. "Don" Cunningham, 93, of Salina, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020. He was born October 21, 1927, in Stafford, the son of Floyd "F.E." and Lela (Dove) Cunningham.

He grew up as the son of a farmer and learned a range of agricultural and mechanical skills from his father. He served in the army at the end of World War II, where he received additional training in diesel and auto mechanics. He was in the automotive business for much of his working life, owning car dealerships and service stations in Augusta, Wichita, and Salina. He also worked at Beech Aircraft. As a father, grandfather, and friend, he shared with others his love of the outdoors, of wildlife, and of games of all kinds. He was a member of Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, where also he worked as a volunteer.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years, Patsy (Barrett) Cunningham, and by two brothers, Harold and Gary Cunningham. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Beverly Cunningham, of Ponca City, Okla.; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Marlies Cunningham, of Holland, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Nick and Lee Hittner-Cunningham (the latter known to Granddad as "E. Ruth.")

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 5, at Turon Cemetery, Turon, Kansas.

Mary Margaret Weaver, 75, of Salina, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020. She was born May 8, 1945 in Concordia, to Donald Sr. and Elgie (Jermark) Earley. She married Clifford Delbert Weaver in Belleville, on August 6, 1961. Mary's greatest joy and passion was raising her family, in addition to the love she gave to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

She is survived by her husband Clifford "Delbert" of the home; children, Linda Bauer (Andrew), of Warrensburg, MO, Debbie Kruszynski (Kyle), of McPherson, Kim Patterson (Darrin), of Salina, Jeremy Weaver (Chelsea), of Salina; brothers, Robert Earley (Beate), of Salina, Marvin Earley (Ramona), of Sun City, AZ; sister in law, Marilyn Earley, of Montana; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son, Dennis Weaver; her parents; and brother, Donald Earley Jr.

Joy Gale Northcutt, 64, of Salina, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020. She was born in Spokane, Washington, on February 10, 1956, to Loren and Billie Marie (Niemann)) DeWitt.

The family came to Salina in 1965 where she attended school. She graduated from Salina Central High School in 1974. Joy married Bob Northcutt on June 10, 1978. They raised four children.

Joy's love of and devotion to family was strong as she supported their schools through many committees and especially loved their sporting activities. She and Bob cared for Joys mom for 20 years in their home.

Joy had a great gift in arranging flowers and was always up for family weddings, proms, and other special occasions. She also had a passion for animals and was very active in Salina lost and found pets.

Survivors include her husband, Bob, of the home; children, Willie Northcutt (Kelly Clarkson), of Lawrence, Sandra Williams, of Topeka, Adam Northcutt (Kristi), of Phoenix, AZ, Billy Jo Northcutt (Beth) of Salina; brothers, Roy DeWitt (Carol), of Osage Beach, MO and Rodney DeWitt, of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Ruby Marie née Brauckmuller Vallis, 93, of Salina, died November 30, 2020. She was born January 22, 1927, in Big Springs, Nebraska to Otto and Lena Brauckmuller.

She married Ralph Edwin Vallis on September 8, 1946 after dating only six months. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before his death in 2009, with more than 40 years spent in the Salina neighborhood where they made many friendships with neighbors of all ages.

She and Ralph were also enthusiastic about their friendships and many travels with other campers of Salina Sam's Camping Club. Ruby was a lifetime member of Eastern Star. She especially enjoyed working as a customer service representative at and retired from School Specialty Supply in Salina. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for 50 years. She loved being around people and was well-known as the organizer of games and activities over many years for various workplace events, churches, and camping groups. She treasured times when her kids and grandkids came to visit for extended stays, so she enthusiastically planned extensive itineraries of nearby points of interest and age-appropriate crafts and activities that became lifelong shared memories.

At her 90th birthday celebration held at Eaglecrest Assisted Living and Retirement; more than 175 guests arrived to deliver personal greetings.

Survivors include sisters Norma Saathoff and Irene Kruse; daughters, Lynette (Melvin) Melcher, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Rhonda (Eugene) Moravec, of Wichita, Kansas, and Diane (William) Anderson, of Plankinton, S.D.; sons, Douglas (Shelli) Vallis, of Rapid City, S.D., Bradley (Rowena) Vallis, of Ottawa, and Stanley (Shiela) Vallis, of Topeka; 17 grandchildren and step grandchildren, Richard Melcher, Peter Melcher, Jocelyn Woods, Meghan Jones, Michael Vallis, Jackie Vallis, Erica Wagner, Jamie Hewitt, Timothy Long, Kyle Moravec, Shawn Moravec, Kira May, Christopher Toler, Ashleigh Vallis, Danielle Palmer, Amanda Akins and Katherine Pollard; many great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Frederick “Fred” Davis Fuller, 81, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2020 in Lincoln. He was born July 9, 1939 in Warm Springs, GA to Wolford and Elizabeth (Ellis) Fuller. When Fred was just 11 months old, he lost both of his parents and was then raised by his grandma and grandpa, Robie and Frank Ross.

Fred was a longtime resident of Lincoln where he most recently worked a trash truck route and was a member of the Central Christian Church. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy. Fred married Judy Schroeder in Las Vegas, NV on June 28, 1987.

Fred is survived by his wife Judy of Lincoln; sons, Frank Fuller (Jennifer) of Wilson and Lance Fuller of Salina; step-daughters, Stacey Scritchfield of Lincoln and Michelle Mason of Salina; grandchildren, Brian Fuller and wife Frannie, Meagan Fuller, Garrett Scritchfield and wife Kayla, and Nicci Sammons and husband Bryan; great grandchildren, Maleah, Ava, Brylee, Cason, Soriaya, Mariah, Aubrea, Axel, and Aspen; uncle, Gene Ellis of Arizona; and cousin, Darlene Ellis and family of Albuquerque, NM. Fred married Judy Schroeder in Las Vegas, NV on June 28, 1987.Fred is survived by his wife Judy of Lincoln; sons, Frank Fuller (Jennifer) of Wilson and Lance Fuller of Salina; step-daughters, Stacey Scritchfield of Lincoln and Michelle Mason of Salina; grandchildren, Brian Fuller and wife Frannie, Meagan Fuller, Garrett Scritchfield and wife Kayla, and Nicci Sammons and husband Bryan; great grandchildren, Maleah, Ava, Brylee, Cason, Soriaya, Mariah, Aubrea, Axel, and Aspen; uncle, Gene Ellis of Arizona; and cousin, Darlene Ellis and family of Albuquerque, NM. Frederick “Fred” Davis Fuller

Eleanor Rhue Phillips, 91, passed away November 29, 2020 at Diversicare in Council Grove.

She was born April 12, 1929, at her grandparents farm near Wilsey to Ralph and Viola (Camp) Hertlein. She graduated from Wilsey Rural High School in 1947. After graduation she attended KSTC (ESU) and received a teaching certificate. She taught at a one room schoolhouse south of her parents farm. On April 13, 1951, she married Frank (Popeye) Phillips, Jr. at the home of Rev.T.P. Henry. They were married for 46 years until his death, October 30, 1997. On February 14, 2003, she married Kenneth Muller at Wilsey United Methodist Church. He survives.

Eleanor and Popeye spent a year and a half in Germany where he was stationed in the Army. She always talked fondly of those days and the lifelong friends they met. After returning to the states they made their home in Wilsey. Eleanor was extremely active and involved with her family and community. She was a member of the Wilsey United Methodist Church where she taught, mentored and played the piano and organ for many years. She was also a member of UMW, Wilsey Lions Club, the Chase County Art Guild, a 4-H sewing leader and a member of Eastern Star for over 60 years. Along with these organizations she played the piano and organ for many weddings, funerals and events and every Friday at Diversicare for over 30 years, while her girls were growing up, Eleanor used her talents by decorating numerous wedding cakes and setting and styling hair of neighbors and family over the years. In her early 60’s she found a passion for drawing and painting and continued that passion until a couple of years ago. She prided herself in being a wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a friend to many.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth Muller; daughters, Cindy Krisman (Dale) of Emporia; JaNell Brown (Jack) of Dwight; step children, Suzanne (Joe) Hokett of Salina, Richard (Tammy) Muller of Council Grove; grandchildren, Sara Weaver (Jesse) of Osage City; Jordan Krisman of Wichita; Cristy Hutchinson of Council Grove; Eric (Ashley) Brown of Emporia; great grandchildren, Rowen and Wrenna Weaver; Mikayla, Tyler, Wyatt and Westyn Hutchinson; and Porter Brown; and special cousins Ruby and John Hertlein.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Popeye; daughter, Kimberly Dawn; grandsons, Matt Gillaspie and Scott Brown; her parents and brother Ralph, Jr.

Graveside services will be at the Wilsey Cemetery, Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 11:00. Eleanor will lie in state on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, from 11:00 to 1:00 at Sawyer Funeral Home.
