Devin Lee Kurtz&nbsp;passed away unexpectedly in Salina on August 5, 2021. Devin was born September 7, 1961, to Bob Kurtz and Rea (Taylor) Kurtz. His childhood was spent in Chapman, KS and Burlingame, KS. He graduated from Chapman High School in 1979 and attended Kansas Wesleyan University.

In 1981, Devin began work unloading tires for the Western Auto (now Advance Auto Parts) Distribution Center in Salina and he ended his over 40-year career with the same company as general manager. He was relocated for work to Temple, TX, and Remington, IN, but Kansas was always his home. On July 16, 1983, Devin married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Jolene Feigley. He was the proud father of three.

Devin was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and papa. He was a man of faith and always made sure his family was provided for. His sense of humor (duly inherited by his children) filled the family home with laughter. He was a talented man who loved to sing and play the guitar, and a gifted athlete and sports fan. Devin had a passion for cars (especially Camaros) and shared his love of music and sports with his children and grandchildren. He was a woodworking craftsman and a skilled mechanic. Whether he was restoring a 1948 John Deere tractor or building custom furniture for his family, Devin could make or fix anything; he was a Renaissance man and the embodiment of the "do-it-yourself" attitude.

Devin was a quiet and thoughtful man with a quick wit and a kind heart. He made a positive impact on the lives of many people, and his influence extends beyond our nation's borders. 

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jolene; children Brad (Paula) Kurtz, Dallas; Jared Kurtz, Salina; Jill (Trent) Langvardt, Chapman; grandchildren Logan and Jason Kurtz, Brynlee Langvardt. He is also survived by his mother Rea Tedder, sister Gigi (Mike) Dudeck, and brother Jeff (Mona) Kurtz, as well as numerous nephews, cousins, aunts, an uncle, and countless friends.

Visitation for friends will be 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 17 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. The family will not be present.

A celebration of Devin's life will be held at a later date.

Mary Ellen Higby, 70, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021. She was born on May 9, 1951 in Salina to Harold and Felicia (Sander) Reid.

Mary Ellen graduated from Salina High School. After high school, traveling abroad, and staying in Denver, she eventually came back to Salina where she met her husband. Mary Ellen and Clinton were married at Sacred Heart Cathedral in 1976.

Mary Ellen is survived by her devoted husband Clinton Higby; daughter Jennifer Frank; sister Sylvia; and brothers Tom and Jim. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Anthony; nephew Randy; and nieces Kathryn and Lisa.

Mary Ellen loved to tell stories and would keep others laughing with her boisterous enthusiasm. She enjoyed dining out and socializing with friends and family. She always had gifts to give, be it her favorite waitstaff, salon, or someone she just met.

Services will be Monday, August 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Timothy Clay Null, age 65, of Salina, KS, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, August 6, 2021. Tim was born on April 12, 1956 in WaKeeney, KS and is the son of Lewis “Jack” Null, Peggy Null (Hildebrand), Benjamin Koralek, and Lillian Koralek (Choitz). A 1972 graduate of Ellsworth High School, Tim went on to proudly serve in the United States Marine Corps. Tim was a lineman for KP&amp;L before retiring as a distribution systems operator for Westar Energy.

Tim married the love of his life, Carla J. Null (Kohls), on August 21, 1976 in Ellsworth, KS. Tim and Carla had two children, Erin and Andrew.

To know Tim, was to love him. Tim’s eyes sparkled with every smile and he had an infectious laugh that easily made the day better. Tim enjoyed woodworking, sewing, tinkering, being his grandkids' biggest cheerleader, joking, finishing up that “one last thing” (project he was working on), cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and loving his family. Tim never knew a stranger and told everyone who would listen about his grandkids, who are his pride and joy. Tim devoted his life to his wife, children, and grandchildren, whom he adored and cherished. Tim stood firm in his faith and lived his life for Jesus.

Tim is survived by his wife Carla of the home; his daughter Erin (Pinson) and son-in-law Chad of Lyons, KS; his son Andrew and daughter-in-law Miriam of Colorado Springs, CO; and his grandchildren: Willow, Blake, Dharma, Mallory, and Eloise. He is also survived by his brother Pat Null (Teresa); sister Lonnie Soukup (Donald); brother Chant Koralek; brother Dave Koralek (Marge); brother-in-law Scott Kohls (Barb); sister-in-law/nephew Angela and Joshua Kohls; many nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers who were very special to him.

Tim was preceded in death by his fathe, Jack Null; his dad and mom, Ben and Lil Koralek; his mother-in-law Lois Kohls; his brother-in-law Craig Kohls; his brother Mike Null; and his sister-in-law Gladys Koralek.

Sandra “Sandy” L. Gullickson, age 75, passed away August 6, 2021 in Salina, KS. Mrs. Gullickson was born on December 1, 1945 in Marshall, MN., to Ted and Katie (Williams) Versluys. She was united in marriage to Gary D. Gullickson on June 17, 1967, in Fond du Lac, WI.

She was an avid reader and cherished time spent with her 11 grandchildren. She enjoyed the traditional Christmas trip with her sisters and sisters-in-law and traveling to Ft. Worth, TX to spend time with her daughter and family.

She is survived by her loving daughters Katie (Mike) Junk of Salina, KS, and Keri (Mario) Flores of Ft. Worth, TX; 11 grandchildren, Hannah, Kyler, Elyse, Tessa and Eli Junk, Isabel, Alex, Sophia and Grace Flores, Leif and Lars Gullickson; three sisters, Beth Breault, Mary (Steve) Snyder and Karen (David) Roesner, all of Salina, KS; and four brothers, Keith (Kathy) Versluys of Fond du Lac, WI, Jim (Gaylene) Versluys of Salina, Ks, John (Jill) Versluys of Olathe, KS, Ted (Christine) Versluys of Topeka, KS;&nbsp; and many nieces and nephews.

Charlene Ann Weigel&nbsp;(formerly Charlene Walters), 91, of Salina, was born to Joseph and Mary Walters on March 10, 1930 in Hays, Kansas passed away peacefully on August 9, 2021.

She was married to her sweetheart, Donald Gene Weigel (deceased) for 63 years. They had four children, Kathleen Weigel of Topeka, Karen Beil of Olathe, Donald M Weigel of Hutchinson, and Dennis Weigel of Salina. She leaves behind nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Charlene was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Church, Salina, KS. She will always be remembered for her unending love of family.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Glada graduated from Scandia High School in 1953 and attended Kansas State University.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Loren D. Isaacson on July 29, 1956.&nbsp; She was a home economics teacher at Scandia High School and a homemaker.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Scandia, KS, UMW, 4-H leader-Sherdahl Boosters, member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of American Revolution, Desire Toby Sears.

She was preceded in death by her parents Rolla and Lillie Thompson, husband Loren Isaacson, son Barry Isaacson,&nbsp; sister Kathryn Kirk, and brothers Andy, Alva, George, Linn, and Rex.

Brown, 89, of Clay Center, died Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor.&nbsp; She was born on January 5, 1932 in Washington County, the daughter of Paul and Faye (Stanton) Henderson.&nbsp; Madeleine graduated from Morrowville School then moved to Clay Center to be a nurse’s aide, where she met her husband Virgil Brown.&nbsp; The couple was married on January 4, 1953 in Rice, Kansas and were married for 53 years before he passed away in 2006.

Madeleine was a homemaker until she went back to work at the Elks Lodge as a cook for 18 years.&nbsp; She was a member of the Clay Center Wesleyan Church and enjoyed crocheting, making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and being with friends and family.

She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Linda Largen and Edith Brown, granddaughter, Amber Largen, her parents, one sister and one brother.

She was united in marriage to Paul William Hegle on June 16, 1951, in Freemont, Neb. 

Dian worked as a store clerk most of her working career. She was a window dresser and store clerk for JC Penney and Dreiling’s Store. Dian enjoyed flower gardening, baking for her family, loved to fish, loved to take walks and socializing with her friends. 

Her greatest joy was her family including her children Cindy (Gary) Floyd of Herington, Kimberly (Scott) Erickson of Salina, and Tracy (Robert) Gilbert of Groveland, FL; grandchildren GP (Amber) Floyd, Danny Floyd, Nicholyn Strome, Clansey (Emily) Strome, Sarah (Aaron) Wendt, Madeleine Gilbert and Mason Gilbert; great-grandchildren Amanda, Tana, Brantley, Wesley, Matthew and Liam, Cleveland, Ivy, Barrett; and great-great-grandchild Sadie. 

Dian passed away on August 5, 2021, at Herington Hospital. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, and siblings Jimmy, Johnny, Woodie, and Kenney DeBus, Lee Rose Valentine, Ella Mae Taylor and Betty Nely.

At the time of his death, Gerald was a school bus driver for Hope schools. Gerald enjoyed riding his motorcycle and making wine and home brewing beer. He was a great cook and computer hobbyist, as well as doing some woodworking. Gerald was a member of the American Legion Post 12 and at the time of his death was the current commander.

His loving family includes his wife Diana of Hope, children Erin (Keith) Day of Krum, TX and Megan (Greg) McPherson of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Tobin and Caitlin Day; siblings Sharon (CJ) Cross of Salina, Duane (Brenda) Dittman of Lincolnville, Janice (John) Fenske of Valley Center and Charlotte (Jim) Schultz of Hope and many nieces and nephews.

Gerald passed away on August 2, 2021, in Garden City, MO.

He was a 1964 graduate of Clyde High School.&nbsp; Dan also attended Ft. Hays State University.

On April 26, 1974 he married Carla Brown in Chicago, Illinois.&nbsp; To this union two children were born, A.J. and Garet.

Dan worked as a surveyor for Universal Associates, Clyde CO-OP Gas Station, and was a manager of the V.F.W., was a truck driver for many years, He also worked for Cloud County as an appraiser.

He was a member of Clyde V.F.W. Aux., American Legion S.A.L.

Butch shared many shenanigans with his three siblings, Pete, Mike and Debra.&nbsp; Anyone that knew Butch knew of his kindness, his love for a good deal, and never knew what automobile or motorcycle he may show up next in or on. &nbsp;It was often joked about that he likely missed his calling as a “used car salesman.”&nbsp; He loved his kids, his friends, and Chiefs football.&nbsp; He enjoyed bartering and a good debate.&nbsp; He was never one to shy away from his views.&nbsp;

He will be missed greatly by his two children, Garet (Megan) Bergstrom, and grandchildren Wyatt and Weston, of Wichita, his daughter A.J. (Derek) LeDuc and grandchildren, Indie, Miles, and Isaiah, of Clyde, &nbsp;two brothers, Pete Bergstrom (Sarah Taylor), Clyde, Mike Bergstrom, Clyde, &nbsp;sister, Debra Ann Landa, Grand Lake, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard “Shorty” and Lucille.

Visitation will be held will be held from 1-8 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, Kansas.&nbsp;

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 9, 2021 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Clyde, Kansas.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas.

He loved to travel to Abilene to see his family especially his Mom and sisters Margie and Sharon and to Oklahoma to visit his sister Linda and nieces. He was always a part of holidays with his nieces. Gerald was a person of integrity and honesty all his life. He was a member of Riverlawn Christian church in Wichita.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, three brothers, and a nephew.

Margaret Ann Clark&nbsp;was called to heaven to be with the Lord on Friday August 6, 2021. Margaret was the daughter of Doug and Mary Gomel and Roye Bird. She was born in Quinter, Kansas, on February 18, 1967.

Margaret attended Salina South High graduating in ’85 and attended cosmetology school with her mother. 

In 1994, she wedded her husband, Robert "Greg" Clark, and had two kids; Kaitlyn in ‘95 and Kameron in ‘98. Margaret later in life found her soulmate, James "Bo" Armstrong, and they were together for 17 years. 

Margaret resided in Herington with Bo and worked several odd jobs including running a paper route delivering the Salina Journal, mowing lawns, cleaning foreclosed homes for the bank, and home improvement projects. 

She was a hard-working woman who put her heart and soul into everything she did. Margaret lived a full and exciting life riding motorcycles, traveling, bowling, painting, and arm wrestling at county, state and national levels. Margaret was a sucker for a peanut butter and chocolate shake. She was best known for her contagious laugh and her giving heart, and admired for her strength and perseverance.

She is preceded in death by her father figure, Douglas Gomel, and her grandparents.

She is survived by her soulmate James "Bo" Armstrong; her mother Mary Gomel; father Roye Bird; four loving sisters, Margie McGreevy (Jason), Marie Gomel, Nancy Francis (Brian), and Paula Hiatt (Matt); and two children, Kaitlyn Elliott (Clint) and Kameron Clark.

Celebration of life will be held Wednesday, August 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Salina, 1325 E Cloud in Salina.

Robert A. Marihugh, age 89, entered into rest on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Jewel County Hospital.&nbsp; 

Robert Allan Marihugh was born on February 13, 1932, at Beloit, Kansas, and was the only living child of Lloyd William and Margie Enola (Ormsbee) Marihugh.

Robert attended grade school at Esbon, Odessa, and Dentonia grade schools, and attended high school at Esbon and Smith Center, where he graduated in May of 1950.

On January 6, 1951, Robert joined the United States Air Force and served as a clerk typist until he was honorably discharged on December 21, 1953.

Robert was joined in marriage to Esther Joy Warner on December 21, 1952, and this union was blessed with two boys – Lloyd Irl born December 2, 1953, and Bruce Elliott, born December 2, 1957. Lloyd Irl and wife Deborah Dickson had three children – Joshua Michael, Matthew Christian and Kristen Elizabeth.

Robert graduated from the University of Kansas on August 10, 1962, with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and secondary major in chemistry. Robert then graduated from Fort Hays State College in the spring of 1970 with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. He went on to obtain his FAA airframe and powerplant license from the Kansas Technical Institute in Salina on May 21, 1982, so he could repair his plane that he enjoyed flying. Robert graduated from the Reynaldo G. Garza School of Law in 1991, where he received his L.L.B. (Bachelors of Law) degree. All told, Robert earned 357 college credit hours!

Robert developed his farm near Downs for irrigation, and farmed his Odessa farm, and his farms near Esbon and in Cora Township, along with teaching from 1958 to 1986 in Oak Creek, Solomon Rapids, Downs, Topeka, Esbon, Lebanon, Donna TX, La Villa and Valley View TX, along with a stint at South Texas Community College.

The new couple spent many winters at their home in Alamo, Texas, which Robert had built. Paula became ill in May 2001, and was admitted to the McAllen Regional Hospital on June 30, 2001, and was later transferred to the Salina Hospital, where she died of cancer on July 16, 2001.Following Paula’s death, Robert would spend his winters in Texas, and his summers in Kansas. Robert returned to Mankato in April of 2017, and spent the remainder of his life at the Jewell Co. Hospital Long Term Care. Robert developed Parkinson’s Disease, and he passed away on July 31, 2021, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 18 days.He is preceded in death by his mother Margie in 1996, father Lloyd in 2004, first wife Esther in 1971, second wife Paula in 2001, and daughter-in-law Carol Ann Marihugh.Robert is survived by his sons Lloyd “Earl” Marihugh and his wife Debbie and Bruce Marihugh, grandchildren Tierra, Sherna, Haley, Cienthia, Rylee and Grace. He is also survived by his extended family, neighbors, and many friends.Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 9, at 10:00 a.m. at the Odessa Cemetery, rural Esbon. U.S. military honors will be presented by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, McConnell Air Force Base.Memorials are requested to Solomon Valley Hospice or the Jewell Co.
