Marilyn Blosser of Concordia, Kansas, died September 8, 2021, in Panama City Beach, Florida. Mrs. Blosser was born Marilyn Jean DeGraff on December 22, 1932 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She married Beldon Blosser on March 23, 1951, and lived in Texas, Colorado, Kansas and Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Pamela, and son Robert.

She is survived by son Randall Blosser and wife Julie, daughter Elizabeth Blosser Dart and husband Roger, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Blosser; three grandchildren, Mark Blosser, Emily Blosser and Amy Blosser Spikes; and two great-grandchildren Isabell and Jack Spikes.

A private service will take place in Concordia with interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Patricia Lee Jury, 63, of Chapman, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. She was born May 26, 1958 in Stuttgart, Germany, the daughter of William and Virginia (Magby) Myers. 

On August 18, 1978 she was united in marriage to David Jury in Junction City. Patricia was a homemaker. She also worked at nursing homes in Minneapolis and in Chapman. 

Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Davi of the home; four daughters: Elizabeth (Jason) Roberts, Hannah (George) Scharff, Diana Jury, Christine (Andrew) Young; 11 grandchildren: JR, Hunter, Hannah, Kayle, Caitlin, Naomi, Joshua, Daymon, Luke, Kayleigh and Peter, and five great-grandchildren; her father William Myers. Sr.; two brothers, William Myers, Jr. and Kenneth Myers; and two sisters, Nancy Davenport and Susie Johnson. 

She was preceded in death by her mother Virginia. 

Private family graveside services will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at Prairiedale Cemetery in Talmage. A celebration of life service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at New Trail Fellowship Church.

David’s life began on June 27, 1930 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Frank and Laura (Dooley) Branson. David graduated from Phillips University with his bachelor of arts degree in 1953, his bachelor of divinity in 1957. He received his doctorate of divinity in 1987.

David moved to Marion, Kansas in March of 1974 where he was the pastor of Marion Christian Church. He became immediately involved with the Marion Athletic Association, volunteering to coach baseball and help maintain the field, anything from cutting grass to repairing the bleachers. He then went on to umpire as much as he found time to do so. After umpiring, he worked with Babe Ruth Baseball at both the district and state levels.

There are so many stories to tell about David Branson, but most importantly he knew at an early age his purpose in life was to be a minister. David served God his entire life, as can be seen through his numerous pastoral positions including his tenure in Texas serving the communities of Muleshoe, Edinburg, Donna and El Paso. David also had pulpits in Salem, OR, Sawyer, KS, Clearwater, KS, Lyons, KS and Marion.

David is survived by his wife Diane (Lehnus) Branson of 47 years and his son Ty Branson of Andres Texas. David had four grandchildren that he loved with all his heart: Jenna Olson of FL., Joel and Jackie Branson of Lee’s Summit MO., and Jacey (Branson) Barrentine of Kansas City, MO. 

David went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 7, 2021, at the age of 91.

Retired Col. David A. Leger, 63, Salina, died Sept. 8.&nbsp; He was born in 1957 to William and Laura (Wright) Leger and was the fifth of six children. David was born overseas and experienced many parts of the world as a military child during his first 14 years. After his father retired from the military, they continued to enjoy being together on the family walnut orchard in California. David graduated from Live Oak High School, and then started his long successful military aviation career.

David attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and immediately entered Warrant Officer Rotary Wing Flight Training at Fort Rucker, Alabama. After graduating from flight school he was assigned as an OH-58A and UH-1H pilot in Company B, 2nd Aviation Battalion in Camp Casey, South Korea. As a Chief Warrant Officer 2 his last assignment on active duty was the aviation maintenance officer for the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kansas. He left active duty in 1985 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Kansas State University.

After graduating KSU with his degree, David was always tinkering with something. Oftentimes he would know how things worked better than the engineers who designed them and, like his father, could fix anything.

David went to work fulltime in 1987 for the Kansas Army National Guard as the supervisory maintenance test pilot at Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) #2 in Salina.&nbsp; Realizing he could do more as an officer he attended the Kansas Military Academy in 1988 and commissioned as a second lieutenant.

With this new leadership role he held numerous positions including Aviation Unit Maintenance Platoon Leader, Company Operations Officer, Commander of Company D, 135th Aviation, Commander of Company D, 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation, 1-108th Aviation logistics officer, 35th Division aviation officer, 1-108th Aviation battalion executive officer, 1-108th Aviation Battalion Commander and Facilities Commander of AASF#2. David culminated his career as the Kansas State Army Aviation Officer leading and representing Kansas Army Aviation nationally, gaining vast respect from his peers and leaders.

He participated in several overseas deployments and training exercises including Operation New Horizons as the Aviation Officer in Charge to Belize in 2001 and to Panama in 2005. In 2003, he deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina as the Executive Officer of the 1-108th Aviation. In 2012 he commanded the 1-108th Aviation Battalion on a deployment to Kuwait.

David attended numerous military schools including the Warrant Officer Rotary Wing Aviator Course, NBC Officer Defense Course, Aviation Maintenance Officer Course, Aviation Basic Course, Aviation Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, UH-60 Aircraft Qualification Course, and the Command and General Staff Officer Course.

David’s selfless dedication earned him numerous military awards and decorations including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Force Expeditionary Medal, Armed Force Reserve Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, NATO Medal (Bosnia-Herzegovina) and the Master Army Aviator Badge. His state awards include the Kansas Emergency Duty Ribbon with six sunflower devices, Kansas Homeland Defense Service Ribbon and the Kansas National Guard Service Medal.

David also earned many lifelong comrades, brothers in arms that prevail to this day.

David met Jettie (Adams) of Kentucky while on military assignment in Belize and they married in 2003. Jettie loved David’s dedication to family, his personal honor and integrity, and his ability to just put his head down and accomplish any task at hand. &nbsp;

He won Jettie’s heart with his devoted old school charm, always opening doors and helping with her coat which made him the most wonderful husband. He was the rock of the family, always putting their needs above his own and taking care of Jettie, the children, and their home.

After retirement, David continued working hard starting a contractor business remodeling homes in Salina.&nbsp; His new true passion was obtaining several scuba diving certifications and enjoying the water.

David is survived by his children William Cuevas, (Whitney Paulk and grandson William Maxwell Cuevas), Zachary Leger, Ella Cuevas, (Cody Sanders and grandson Miles Ray Sanders), Christopher Leger, and daughter Laura Leger; sisters Elizabeth Sharp, Susan Curtis, Kathleen Chastain; and stepmother Sharon Leger.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and brothers Mark and Robert Leger.

Jettie and the family remain thankful for his military comrades who continue to help the family.

David was born overseas and experienced many parts of the world as a military child during his first 14 years. After his father retired from the military, they continued to enjoy being together on the family walnut orchard in California. David graduated from Live Oak High School, and then started his long successful military aviation career.David attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and immediately entered Warrant Officer Rotary Wing Flight Training at Fort Rucker, Alabama. After graduating from flight school he was assigned as an OH-58A and UH-1H pilot in Company B, 2nd Aviation Battalion in Camp Casey, South Korea. As a Chief Warrant Officer 2 his last assignment on active duty was the aviation maintenance officer for the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kansas. He left active duty in 1985 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Kansas State University.After graduating KSU with his degree, David was always tinkering with something. Oftentimes he would know how things worked better than the engineers who designed them and, like his father, could fix anything.David went to work fulltime in 1987 for the Kansas Army National Guard as the supervisory maintenance test pilot at Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) #2 in Salina.&nbsp; Realizing he could do more as an officer he attended the Kansas Military Academy in 1988 and commissioned as a second lieutenant.With this new leadership role he held numerous positions including Aviation Unit Maintenance Platoon Leader, Company Operations Officer, Commander of Company D, 135th Aviation, Commander of Company D, 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation, 1-108th Aviation logistics officer, 35th Division aviation officer, 1-108th Aviation battalion executive officer, 1-108th Aviation Battalion Commander and Facilities Commander of AASF#2. David culminated his career as the Kansas State Army Aviation Officer leading and representing Kansas Army Aviation nationally, gaining vast respect from his peers and leaders.He participated in several overseas deployments and training exercises including Operation New Horizons as the Aviation Officer in Charge to Belize in 2001 and to Panama in 2005. In 2003, he deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina as the Executive Officer of the 1-108th Aviation. He was born in Oakland, Illinois, on November 20, 1936.&nbsp;&nbsp;The son of Jesse and Pearl (Myers) Hood.&nbsp;&nbsp;He spent seven years in the United States Air Force, where he also obtained a barbering license.&nbsp;&nbsp;On New Years’ Eve, 1961, he married Zelma Pauline Strader in Charleston, IL.&nbsp;&nbsp;In the fall of 1962, they moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado.&nbsp;&nbsp;Later, they lived in the New Castle, Silt, and Rifle, CO, areas.&nbsp;&nbsp;He worked as a carpenter and a farmer, and also had rental homes for a time.&nbsp;&nbsp;In November of 1990, he moved with his family to Mankato, KS.&nbsp;

Ed enjoyed hunting in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado’s South Canyon in Garfield County and the prairielands of north-central Kansas throughout his life.&nbsp;&nbsp;He also loved to fish in the areas’ lakes and rivers.&nbsp;&nbsp;He had a passion for growing things in the garden and enjoying the harvest with friends and loved ones.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a charter member of the Glenwood Springs Colorado Elks Lodge #2286 for years, then transferred to the lodge in Superior, NE, for a while.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was also a member of the American Legion Post #83 and a former member of the Eagles Lodge in Glenwood Springs, CO.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his daughters, RaDonna Hood-Mister &amp; her partner, Roy Vicory (Denver, CO), Sandra York (Grand Junction, CO), Char Anna (Martinez) Flippo &amp; her husband, Bill Flippo, Jr. (Brookings, SD), and Maria H. (Martinez) Isabel &amp; her husband, Jason Sheriff (Topeka, KS).&nbsp;&nbsp;Surviving grandchildren are Rebecca Mister and her partner, Bernard Ware; Tommy Mister and his wife, Stephanie; April (Mister) Dittmar and her husband, Jesse; Jennifer Mister and her wife Jennifer Sauerman; RaDonna D.  Jean L. Erickson died peacefully in Jesus on September 9, 2021 at the age of 95 years at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kan.   She was born March 6, 1926 to Joel and Esther Isaacson in Assaria, Kansas, where she lived all her life.  She married Carl E. (Mike) Erickson on September 7, 1947.  

     Carl built a home in Assaria where they lived their entire married life. They have four children:  Vicky Kuhn (Dick), Karlene Knopf (Jerry), Debbie Gfeller Shank (Glen), Scott Erickson (Kim). They have 11 grandchildren: Christy Russell(Jeff), Angela Boob(Bryce), Justin Knopf(Lindsey), Jeff Knopf (Rachel), Jay Knopf (Taylor), Erik Gfeller (Rachel), Anna Douglass( Eric), Mikael Gfeller (Stephanie), Sarah Wendt (Aaron), Nicholyn Strome, and Clansey Strome(Emily). They have 21 great-grandchildren. Jean leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 50 family members she loved so well.  

     Jean worked for the Salina School District for 25 years, where she transitioned the district payroll into the world of computers.   She was an active member of Assaria Lutheran Church, working for the Lord alongside many of her friends.  She and her sister, Donna Sherwood, sang in the Salina Sweet Adeline Chorus. She shared the gift of a beautiful voice with others, in church and at community events, often with her brother, Bill Isaacson and sister, Donna.   Jean hosted big family dinners with ease, nurtured a beautiful garden, embroidered for her family and was well known for her amazing pies. She loved her family and friends well.  That love was returned many times over and now her family treasures the memories they share of a wonderful mother and grandma. 

     Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021 at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

     Jean’s life will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Assaria Lutheran Church, with Pastor Dean Apel, officiating.  Interment will follow in Assaria Lutheran Cemetery.

Robert Eugene Ahlstedt, 79, of Lindsborg, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. Robert was born July 2, 1942 in McPherson, KS. He is the son of the late Emery and Hazel (Swedberg) Ahlstedt. A lifelong resident of Lindsborg, Robert graduated from Lindsborg public schools and Bethany College, where he was a two-sport NAIA All-American in basketball and football. He dedicated a majority of his life to being a schoolteacher for junior high science, physical education and coaching/mentoring youth in numerous sports. He was also the head referee for Friday night high school football games around the area for many years. In the summer months, Robert’s firework stand was widely known as THE place to buy fireworks for 45 years. His patriotism was unparalleled, as he thoroughly enjoyed [legally] setting things on fire and making loud noises for everyone to enjoy. Robert was very active within the community of Lindsborg, singing in the Messiah Chorus for 60 years. He was also a member of the Mennonite Men’s Chorus, Kiwanis, FIKA Friendship Group, Sunflower Ramblers RV Camping Club, and the Evangelical Covenant Church. In retirement, he and Cathy spent lots of time camping, fishing, traveling and playing card games such as “Up the River, Down the River” and “Swedish Poker”. There was not a tree Robert could not identify as he loved all things wood-related. He was a skilled woodcarver and a tremendous carpenter—a skill passed down from his father. He enjoyed cutting firewood and building fires indoors and out any time of the year. The only thing he may have loved more than all of this was coffee. It was a very rare occurrence to see Robert without a coffee cup in his hand; regardless of the occasion, location or time of day. There aren’t many in the Lindsborg area and beyond that have not been positively impacted by Robert’s presence. He never passed up an opportunity for a teaching/coaching moment, and he never held back his opinion. When he spoke, you listened, because you knew you were about to get some really sound advice. If he ever gave you a hard time, you just knew it was a sign of affection and an opportunity for growth. He could always be counted on to provide a corny joke, even if the situation didn’t call for it. His energy, positive attitude, work-ethic, and stamina were inspirational, and even through the years of arthritis pain, he never slowed down until the very end. He was a proud, self-proclaimed “stubborn Swede” and, as the saying goes in the sports world, he left it all on the field. He is survived by his wife Catherine of the home; daughter Michelle Cusumano (Bobby), daughter Diana Holloway (Dan), daughter Susan Ahlstedt, son Mike Ahlstedt (Sarah), son Steve Ahlstedt (CC), son Travis Basgall (Melissa), son Scott Peavler (Zaidinette), brother Earl Ahlstedt, sister Elly Ostlind, mother-in-law Helen Smith, sister-in-law Cindy Warren, sister-in-law Connie Corcoran (Lynn) as well as grandchildren Nevin Barker, Mackenna Barker, Kendall Barker, Crimson Barker, Jadyn Barker, Abby Holloway, Anna Holloway, Ally Holloway, Adriel Holloway, Amy Holloway, Caleb Holloway, Austin Heiling (Sidney), Derek Ahlstedt, Jason Ahlstedt, Riley Ahlstedt, Avery Ahlstedt, Allison Korb, Kaden Korb, Brooklyn Basgall and many nieces and nephews. There was not a tree Robert could not identify as he loved all things wood-related. He was a skilled woodcarver and a tremendous carpenter—a skill passed down from his father. He enjoyed cutting firewood and building fires indoors and out any time of the year. The only thing he may have loved more than all of this was coffee. It was a very rare occurrence to see Robert without a coffee cup in his hand; regardless of the occasion, location or time of day. There aren’t many in the Lindsborg area and beyond that have not been positively impacted by Robert’s presence. He never passed up an opportunity for a teaching/coaching moment, and he never held back his opinion. When he spoke, you listened, because you knew you were about to get some really sound advice. If he ever gave you a hard time, you just knew it was a sign of affection and an opportunity for growth. He could always be counted on to provide a corny joke, even if the situation didn’t call for it. His energy, positive attitude, work-ethic, and stamina were inspirational, and even through the years of arthritis pain, he never slowed down until the very end. He was a proud, self-proclaimed “stubborn Swede” and, as the saying goes in the sports world, he left it all on the field. He is survived by his wife Catherine of the home; daughter Michelle Cusumano (Bobby), daughter Diana Holloway (Dan), daughter Susan Ahlstedt, son Mike Ahlstedt (Sarah), son Steve Ahlstedt (CC), son Travis Basgall (Melissa), son Scott Peavler (Zaidinette), brother Earl Ahlstedt, sister Elly Ostlind, mother-in-law Helen Smith, sister-in-law Cindy Warren, sister-in-law Connie Corcoran (Lynn) as well as grandchildren Nevin Barker, Mackenna Barker, Kendall Barker, Crimson Barker, Jadyn Barker, Abby Holloway, Anna Holloway, Ally Holloway, Adriel Holloway, Amy Holloway, Caleb Holloway, Austin Heiling (Sidney), Derek Ahlstedt, Jason Ahlstedt, Riley Ahlstedt, Avery Ahlstedt, Allison Korb, Kaden Korb, Brooklyn Basgall and many nieces and nephews. Glenn L. Headley, 84, of Salina, passed away Sunday, December 27 at Salina Presbyterian Manor. He was born April 29, 1936 to Clifford and Ethel Headley in Downs, Kansas, the fifth of six children. Upon graduation from Downs High School in 1954, Glenn moved to Salina, Kansas. As a freshman at Kansas Wesleyan, Glenn began working at Stevenson's Clothing which turned into his life-long profession, eventually owning his own men's clothing store for 40 years in Salina's Kraft Manor. In 1958 Glenn married Elaine Selden of Clyde, KS and celebrated 45 years of marriage. From this union Glenn and Elaine had three children: Marlys, Sara and Ross.

Glenn was preceded in death by his wife Elaine, parents Clifford and Ethel, sister June Lindblom, and brother Howard Headley. Glenn is survived by his children Marlys Headley of Columbia, SC; Sara Marinakis (Jim) of Lenexa; Ross Headley (Joy) of Olathe; five grandchildren: Connor Tillman, Evan Tillman, Michael Marinakis, Hudson Headley and Julia Headley; and brother Marvin Headley, sisters Juanita Wilcox and Ruth Harris and 15 nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Glenn's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 18 at First United Methodist Church, 122 N. 8th St., Salina, KS. In keeping with current CDC guidelines, we ask all who attend the service to wear a mask. We also ask that you wear your&nbsp; favorite suit and tie that you bought from Headley's Clothing. Burial will immediately follow the service at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

She was born October 6, 1923, to William and Mattie Schreiber of Lost 
Springs, Kansas.&nbsp; When she was 7 years old, they moved to Sharon 
Springs, Kansas where she made her home until her husband, George, 
passed away.&nbsp; She then moved to Abilene, Kansas until her passing.&nbsp;

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Conlon of Abilene and Barbara
 Cook of Denver, CO; son, Earl (Karen) DeBeer of Salina, KS; grandson, 
Eric Conlon of Abilene; granddaughters, Amy (Bob) Fagnani of Denver, CO 
and Khris (Jared) Reynolds of Columbus, NE; great grandsons, Taylor 
McClure, Dylan McClure and Alex (Ayano) Montgomery; great

Betty married Harold E. Koch in Great Bend, KS on February 19, 1950. Shortly after Harold served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, the couple returned to Kansas to work at Harold’s family’s business, The Bushton Telephone Co. Soon after that, they purchased the Holyrood Telephone Co. which they later incorporated into H&amp;B Communications of Holyrood. Betty then served as co-owner and president of H&amp;B Communications for nearly 30 years. She was an active member of the Hutchinson Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Betty is survived by her daughter Del Jeane Nash of Holyrood; son Robert Koch (Kathy) of Holyrood; grandchildren Marlena Jahn (Andy), Brandon Koch (Alisha), Allison Koch, Justin Nash, and Brent Nash; great-grandchildren Ethan, Camron, Kinsey, Hailey, Payton, Chloe, Emily, Trenton, Alexa, and Rosalie; brother Terry L. Doyle H. Fredrickson: Dad, Gramps and Great-Great Papa, passed peacefully with his sons and their wives by his side at the Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center, KS on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the age of 89.

Doyle was born June 13, 1932 to Alvin L. and Vernie L. Fredrickson in St. Francis, KS. &nbsp;His family later moved to Oberlin, KS. He was the youngest of five siblings. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1950.

Doyle’s father passed due to an accident when he was 16. His older brother and wife, Don and Lois Fredrickson, moved back to Oberlin to help care and provide for his mother and brother, Doyle.

They started a small grocery store on the Main Street of Oberlin, Don’s Grocery. After high school graduation he continued at Don’s Supermarket and eventually became the manager where he completed 38 years, retiring in 1986.

He then leased a local liquor store for a short time, became the marketing and sales director at the Oberlin Boat Factory for two years and then worked for Brown Motor Company as a salesman. 

Doyle started dating Joan (Jody) Jording when she returned to Oberlin from the Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO to work for just a year in Oberlin to fulfill a scholarship commitment.&nbsp; Doyle and “Jody” were married on Jan.10, 1954 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church located in the country near Traer, KS. He took classes to join the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oberlin, KS. They had two sons, Gary and Kurt.

Jody passed on Dec. 16, 1998 just one month short of their 45th&nbsp;wedding anniversary. Doyle lost his wife, best friend and the “love of his life” and missed her daily for the rest of his life.&nbsp; He then moved to Wichita, KS in 2001 where he lived the next 20 years. His niece and her husband, Nancy and Terry Quan, were his best friends, helpers and medical aides and allowed him to stay alone and stay independent living until age 89. Doyle also met and had a friendship with Carolyn Johnson while living there.

The highlight for Doyle was watching his grandchildren Karli, Kaine, Scott, and Tom grow up and attending many of their functions, graduations and events.

His last chapter of his life included visiting his great-granddaughters “My Girlies,” Harper and Hattie Hubka in Clay Center, KS.

Doyle loved life, always lived it to its fullest and had many, many friends of all ages.

He is preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses: June and Darren Schneider, Robert and Lucille, Ralph and Helen and Don and Lois Fredrickson.&nbsp; Also passing were his wife Joan, and granddaughter Kylee Marie Fredrickson.

Survivors are Gary and Sarah Fredrickson, Clay Center, KS, Kurt and Stella Fredrickson, Kansas City, MO, grandchildren Karli Hubka and husband Brett, Kaine Fredrickson and fiancée Becca Clancy, Tom and Scott Fredrickson and great-granddaughters Harper and Hattie Hubka.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clay Center, Kansas.&nbsp; The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Inurnment services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Oberlin Cemetery, Oberlin, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to the Jody Fredrickson Nursing and Pre-Health Scholarship in care of the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, Kansas.

His older brother and wife, Don and Lois Fredrickson, moved back to Oberlin to help care and provide for his mother and brother, Doyle.They started a small grocery store on the Main Street of Oberlin, Don’s Grocery. After high school graduation he continued at Don’s Supermarket and eventually became the manager where he completed 38 years, retiring in 1986.He then leased a local liquor store for a short time, became the marketing and sales director at the Oberlin Boat Factory for two years and then worked for Brown Motor Company as a salesman. Doyle started dating Joan (Jody) Jording when she returned to Oberlin from the Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO to work for just a year in Oberlin to fulfill a scholarship commitment.&nbsp; Doyle and “Jody” were married on Jan.10, 1954 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church located in the country near Traer, KS. He took classes to join the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oberlin, KS. They had two sons, Gary and Kurt.Jody passed on Dec. 16, 1998 just one month short of their 45th&nbsp;wedding anniversary. Doyle lost his wife, best friend and the “love of his life” and missed her daily for the rest of his life.&nbsp; He then moved to Wichita, KS in 2001 where he lived the next 20 years. His niece and her husband, Nancy and Terry Quan, were his best friends, helpers and medical aides and allowed him to stay alone and stay independent living until age 89. Donna (Blaszczyk) Rosiere of Florence, KS entered the gates of heaven on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the age of 64 years. She was born November 27, 1956 at Fort Riley, KS army base.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Joan Blaszczyk and sister-in-law Courtney Blaszczyk. 

Donna grew up in Wamego, KS until the family moved to Parkville, MO in 1966. Donna graduated from Park Hill Sr. High of Parkville, MO in 1974. 

She was employed at various businesses in the Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS area, working at the KCI airport for Gilbert/Robinson restaurant then working in the gift shop at the KCI airport. That is where she met her future and current husband Billy Dale Rosiere. She attended college at Maple Woods Community College majoring in microbiology and computer science. She also had worked at KU Medical Center as a laboratory technician.

Donna married Bill on May 16, 1980 and recently celebrated 41 years. Bill worked at Braniff International Airlines. They resided in the Northland area at Oakview subdivision of Gladstone, MO. Bill's job with Braniff took them to live in Lewisville, Texas and later to Southlake, Texas.

They moved back to the midwest settling down in Florence, KS. They purchased the Marion Laundromat/Dry Cleaner business. They made many friends over the years in Marion and the surrounding communities who took items to their business. They truly liked the service they received from Donna and Bill.

Donna is survived by her husband, and five siblings; Sharon (Blaszczyk) Lynn (Darrel) of MN, Wanda (Blaszczyk/Way) Koehn (Bob), of Claycomo, MO, twin sister Jaccie Blaszczyk of Florence, KS, Linda (Blaszczyk) Riddle (Dale) of Montgomery City, MO, and Peter Blaszczyk of Knob Noster, MO, along with many nieces &amp; nephews.

Judith “Judy” Read, 79, of Solomon passed away September 8, 2021 at Salina Regional Hospital.

 She was born at the Claremore Indian Hospital in Claremore, Oklahoma on June 14, 1942, the daughter of Calvin and Lora (Kerr) McCamish. Judy grew up in Craig County, Oklahoma and loved revisiting the “old home places” in the Vinita and Claremore areas. 

After high school she attended Draughon’s Business School in Claremore, OK. She came to Abilene in 1970 where she worked in several secretarial positions and at West’s IGA, Alco, and was also a daycare provider. 

She loved to travel, sew, read, and enjoyed cooking and canning from her garden. She was a Girl Scout leader, elementary school room mother, and enjoyed being involved with her daughters’ softball practices and games. 

She was a citizen of the Shawnee and Delaware Tribes of Oklahoma.

Family was her joy. She took care of both of her elderly parents and loved gathering with her family and extended family. She was an only child but was raised with cousins she called her brothers and sisters. Grandma Judy played an important role in the lives of her grandsons Josh Hudson, James, Jesse and Justin Glover.

On June 26, 1999 she was united in marriage to Robert Read. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and daughter Dina Bruce. 

Judy is survived by her daughters Lori Hasselman and Paula Reynolds of Lawrence, Kansas and son, James “JR” Robbins of West Columbia, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family has chosen cremation. The children of Dina Bruce will host a joint Celebration of Life for their mother and Judy on September 18 at 11 a.m. at the Hank Royer Band Shell in Abilene, KS. 

A memorial service for Judy will be also held at a later date when her children are able to gather in her honor.

Judy is survived by her daughters Lori Hasselman and Paula Reynolds of Lawrence, Kansas and son, James “JR” Robbins of West Columbia, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The family has chosen cremation. The children of Dina Bruce will host a joint Celebration of Life for their mother and Judy on September 18 at 11 a.m. at the Hank Royer Band Shell in Abilene, KS. A memorial service for Judy will be also held at a later date when her children are able to gather in her honor. Robert B. Googe, 84, of Salina, Kan., passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021. He was born in Canton, N.C., on March 13, 1937.

Bob married Arletta Hays on June 25, 1959, in Salina. He was a flight engineer for the C-130 in the U.S. Airforce, retiring as a master sergeant. Bob then joined the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for 20 years. He loved to go fishing whenever he had the chance.

He is preceded in death by his parents Pascal Clinton Googe and Blanche Ann Hancock, and brother Charles Googe.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Arletta, and children Jeanette Googe and Michael Googe.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Poheta Cemetery, near Kipp, Kan., with military honors by Salina V.F.W. Post 1432.

Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. or D.A.V., in care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.

Carl Sherman Lagergren, 74, of Salina, died on Wednesday, September 8, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Sherm was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on May 9, 1947, to Helene and Clifford Lagergren, and grew up in Ohio before moving to Kansas to major in history at Bethany College. At Bethany he met Janet Shields, whom he married in 1969, and together they raised their two children, Eric and Jenny, always surrounded by their family’s beloved dogs.

He spent most of his career in banking as a home loan officer. In retirement he discovered many new interests, including becoming an avid armchair birdwatcher. He also revisited earlier hobbies and passions he’d let go of in the intervening years. He loved to watch golf on television, and he was a diehard Chiefs fan. He was also passionate about KU basketball; each season if there was a game on, you can bet that he would be hollering at the TV when things weren’t going KU’s way.

Those who knew Sherm may remember his love of cars, especially Volkswagens. He owned many throughout his life, most notably a white convertible beetle with the unmistakable license plate EEKABUG, which could be seen around Salina throughout much of the '80s and '90s.

Sherm had always regretted his decision to sell his 1963 Stingray Corvette after college. It was the first car he ever really loved. Almost fifty years later he bought a 2004 silver Corvette, and even though he was now 70 years old and didn’t drive it much, we remember the joy he got working on it. He’d closed a circle of a passion for cars and the automobile industry that spanned nearly seven decades.

He is survived by wife Janet and son Eric as well as his older sister Karen and many extended family members. Sherm was preceded in death by his daughter Jenny to cancer in 2015.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. Ryan Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that a donation in Sherm’s name be made to Salina Animal Services to honor his love and devotion to his many dogs throughout his life.

Julie earned her associate degree in nursing from Kansas Wesleyan University and a bachelordegree in health care from Brown Mackie College.&nbsp; During Julie’s 25 years in nursing she worked at St. John’s Hospital, many nursing facilities, and taught the medical assistant program at Salina Tech for 12 years.&nbsp; 

Outside of work Julie loved to create art.&nbsp; She was an accomplished painter, sketch artist, and potter.&nbsp; Grandchildren were very important to Julie and she cherished their time together. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Levi Menke; and husband Van Phillips.
