Courtney Lynn Frobenius, 74, of Parkville, MO., passed away April 11, 2022.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;He was born April 11, 1948, in Hays, KS.

Courtney Lynn Frobenius, dutifully served in the infantry of the U.S Army during the Vietnam war. In his years of service, he received five valor awards, the Silver Star, three Bronze Stars with “V” Device, and an Army Commendation medal with “V” Device. He was also awarded a Combat Infantrymen’s Badge, Airborne Wings, Ranger Tab, and the Purple Heart. Courtney has made it known that the greatest honor he received was being commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Infantry when he was just 19 years old.

After the Vietnam War, he graduated from Wichita State University, and managed airports. After managing airports, he spent 10 years as an owner of an advertising company,&nbsp;“Frobenius and Associates.”&nbsp;&nbsp;He established Vietnam-Indochina Tours in 1994, which took veterans and others to Vietnam and the Indochina region.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bruce R., and Charline L. (Utt) Frobenius.

Survivors include his daughter Juliana Ramage and husband, Brandon, of Bisbee, AZ., two brothers, Richard Frobenius of California, and Charles Frobenius of Alaska, and two grandchildren, Magnus Ramage and Ambrose Ramage.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, June 20, 2022, at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.

Thomas John “Tom” Bohm, 78, Hays, died Thursday, June 16, 2022, at his home.

He was born November 22, 1943, in 
Salina, the son of Claire Louise (Schwerman) Bohm.&nbsp; In 1960, he 
graduated from Sacred Heart High School.&nbsp; He was united in marriage to 
Debbie Walters on June 30, 1978, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, 
and were married nearly 44 years.&nbsp; Tom owned and operated Kansas 
Precision Contact Lens, Bohm’s Bike Shop, and Bohm’s Coffee Shop.&nbsp; He 
was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a former member of the Hays 
Optimist Club, and was co-founder and coach of the Hays Striders Track 
Club.&nbsp; Tom enjoyed bicycling, visiting with everyone, and teaching 
religion at Kennedy Middle School and TMP-Marian High School.&nbsp; He was an
 avid golfer, devout Catholic, and most of all, loved his family.

Survivors include his wife Debbie of 
Hays, a son: Matthew Bohm and wife Chelse of Overland Park, two 
daughters: Sarah Mackey and husband Todd of Hays and Claire Ludes and 
husband John of Salina, 12 grandchildren: Heather Tipton and husband 
Joh, Thomas “TJ” Glass, Anthony Bohm, Alexis Mackey, Carter Bohm, Kaylee
 Bohm, Peyton Mackey, Michael Mackey, Greyson Mullen, Boe Ludes, Zane 
Sims, and Addison Sims, and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother,
 three sons: Thomas, Sean, and John Bohm, and two daughters: Dawn Bohm 
and Stacy Bohm-McCann.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Monday, June 20, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr.
 Richard Daise officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.&nbsp;

Sadie Jo Louise Arnet, 27, of Russell, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Sadie was born March 30, 1995, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Angie (Kaufman) Arnet. She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 2013. She graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work. She then attended and graduated from the University of Kansas with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. While in school she had an internship with St. Francis Ministries; after school she continued her employment with St. Francis Ministries as an Integration case worker and for the last year or so was an Adoption Specialist.

Sadie was known for her great sense of humor, her enjoyment of fishing, traveling, swimming and spending time at the lake, collecting music concert band t-shirts, being with her family and friends, and taking care of her families and “her kids” at work. She had no children of her own, but had hopes of adopting several sometime in the future.

Surviving family include her parents, Fred and Angie Arnet of Russell, Kansas; three sisters, Rose Bender, Lee Arnet and Erica Arnet all of Russell, Kansas; three brothers, Nicholas Arnet, Elias Arnet and Benjamin Arnet all of Russell, Kansas; nephew Jaxon Arnet-Prewitt; and four nieces, Vanessa Arnet-Lazono, Alexandra Arnet-James, Madelynn Arnet-James and Isabella Arnet-James.

Sadie was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Norma Jean Rupp and her paternal grandparents Charles and Anna Arnet.

Steven J. Thomas, age 53,&nbsp;of Hays, Kansas, died&nbsp;Friday, May 27, 2022, in Barstow, California. &nbsp;

He&nbsp;was born&nbsp;November 9, 1968, in Hays, Kansas, to John Harland and Patricia Ann &nbsp;(Leikam) Thomas.&nbsp;&nbsp;He married Carrie Christine (Silva) on February 14, 2009 at Las Vegas, Nevada.&nbsp;

He was a truck driver for over 30 years working for L-K Wireline and Acid in Hays, UPS Freight of Salina, and recently a driver for The Fleener Brothers Trucking&nbsp;of Carthage, Missouri.&nbsp;&nbsp;He grew up in Hays and was a 1988 graduate of Hays High School. &nbsp;He&nbsp;had a love for fast cars, loud music, fishing with his grandchildren, target shooting with his children, and time with his family. &nbsp;He was a great friend, a loving husband,&nbsp;an amazing father, and a proud Papa, wonderful&nbsp;brother, and a funny uncle.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Carrie Silva-Thomas, Hays, KS; his children, Brandon Silva and fiancé Alessia Radeker,&nbsp;Hays, KS; Jordan Silva and wife, Tressidy, Hays, KS;&nbsp;Rhiannon Silva, Hays, KS; Nicholas Silva, Hays, KS; Elizabeth Silva-Thomas, Plainville. Margaret Louise Duffey, the daughter of Millard Berkley Shadduck and Mary Catherine (Heater) Shadduck, was born March 24, 1932 in rural Republic, Kansas and passed away on June 15, 2022 at the Smith Center Health and Rehab, Smith Center, Kansas at the age of 90 years, 2 months, and 21 days.

Margaret grew up in rural Republic, Kansas, graduating from Republic High School in 1950.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On February 27, 1951, she was united in marriage to James R. Duffey and to this union were born&nbsp; Lori Ann, Staci Jo, and Tina Louise.

Margaret worked at the REA office in Concordia after her marriage. Margaret later worked for the Civil Service of the United States Air Force as an office clerk as the couple moved overseas to Japan and were stationed in many locations following his military career, among them being Altus Air Force Base from 1963-1966, Laramie AFB, Wyoming from 1966 until 1968 and later, Compton, California, and Brighton, Colorado.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After 1970, the couple settled in Mankato and later Formoso, moving to Belleville, KS in 1992.

Margaret was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and also a member of the Eastern Star, and the First United Methodist Church and UMW in Belleville, KS.&nbsp; &nbsp;She also was active in EHU.

She was preceded in death by her parents Millard and Mary Shadduck; her husband James R. Duffey on April 2, 2012; brothers Gerald, Adron, and Richard Shadduck; and sisters Lois Lundblade and Roberta Partridge.

Margaret is survived by three daughters,&nbsp; Lori (David) Barnes of Smith Center, KS,&nbsp; Staci (Rick) Allen of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Tina (Kevin) Mills of Chesapeake, VA;&nbsp; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce (Marvin) Poppe of Chester, NE; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2022 at the&nbsp;Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS

Interment will follow at the Washington Cemetery, rural Republic, Kansas.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home.&nbsp;&nbsp; The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday prior to the service.

Duffey | Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home</a>March 24, 1932 ~ June 15, 2022 (age 90)Margaret Louise Duffey, the daughter of Millard Berkley Shadduck and Mary Catherine (Heater) Shadduck, was born March 24, 1932 in rural Republic, Kansas and passed away on June 15, 2022 at the Smith Center Health and Rehab, Smith Center, Kansas at the age of 90 years, 2 months, and 21 days.Margaret grew up in rural Republic, Kansas, graduating from Republic High School in 1950.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On February 27, 1951, she was united in marriage to James R. Duffey and to this union were born&nbsp; Lori Ann, Staci Jo, and Tina Louise.Margaret worked at the REA office in Concordia after her marriage. Margaret later worked for the Civil Service of the United States Air Force as an office clerk as the couple moved overseas to Japan and were stationed in many locations following his military career, among them being Altus Air Force Base from 1963-1966, Laramie AFB, Wyoming from 1966 until 1968 and later, Compton, California, and Brighton, Colorado.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After 1970, the couple settled in Mankato and later Formoso, moving to Belleville, KS in 1992.Margaret was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and also a member of the Eastern Star, and the First United Methodist Church and UMW in Belleville, KS.&nbsp; &nbsp;She also was active in EHU.She was preceded in death by her parents Millard and Mary Shadduck; her husband James R. Hillsboro - Richard Dale Dirks, 83, passed away June 15, 2022 at Salem Home in Hillsboro. He was born January 24, 1939 in Hillsboro to Irvin and Margaret (Unruh) Dirks. 

He married Kathy Hall October 27, 1990 in McPherson. 

Survivors include wife Kathy Dirks of Hillsboro; sons Shon (Kim) Buster of Galva, Heath Wayne Buster of Centennial, Colorado; daughters Colleen (Doug) Weinbrenner of Hillsboro, Sheri Lynn Wilson of Squenatady, New York; sister Theresa (Ray) Remmers of Hillsboro; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

 Predeceased by his sister Joan Donahue in 2011 and brother-in-law James Donahue in 2012.

He attended Clearwater Schools until his senior year when he attended Norwich High School to play basketball. He graduated in 2007 from Norwich High School. Jordan’s dream from the time he was young was to go to Kansas University; he attended for one year and his love for KU remained his lifetime passion. In 2009 he went to San Diego, CA with Campus Crusade for Christ. They were required to obtain employment and he ended up working at Two Brothers Restaurant. When everyone else returned to Kansas, Jordan stayed and continued working. During this time, he met Matt Whipple. Jordan traveled from coast to coast following Chef Whipple to pursue his love of cooking, from a catering company to cooking at a backyard BBQ at the home of Phillip Rivers (probably the highlight of his career). He loved being in a kitchen. He always represented Kansas wherever he went and was often called “Kansas.“ Jordan’s favorite pastime was sitting in his chair next to his dad and kitty cats, Prince and Ari, watching sports. He was an avid Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry, and Chargers fan, and most importantly a KU Jayhawks Superfan. He always enjoyed talking sports with his Grandma Phyllis Epp, who could usually match his sports knowledge. Above all, he loved his “baby sister” Carby. They talked every evening and had what they both called “brother-sister” talks which were deemed confidential (and may have been talks about their parents!) There were certain movies they could only watch together, A Goofy Movie, and Night At The Roxbury. One day while eating and playing at Burger King, they received a stuffed animal they immediately called “Arthur.” Whoever was having a tough time would get to be in possession of Arthur. During high school years he mostly stayed with Carmen. When Jordan went to San Diego, Carmen was sure to give Arthur to Jordan to take with him. Arthur was even mailed back and forth at times for whoever needed him. What is amazing, Jordan lost many things, his drivers license, SS card (both multiple times), books, clothes, but he never lost Arthur. Needless to say Arthur will now stay with Carmen to get her through the hard times knowing her big brother will always be with her. Jordan never ended a phone call without saying “I Love You.” He never let anyone leave without a big teddy bear hug. We are all going to miss Jordan and his hugs. Jordan went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 13, 2022, at the age of 33. We know we will see him again soon in a better place.

Wayne Blue, 75, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away at 2:51 PM, Tuesday, June 14th, 2022 while in the company of family, at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. Wayne was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 27, 1946, a son of Lucille May (Baldridge) and Richard Morris Blue, Sr. Wayne attended the Arlington grade schools and High School, Arlington, Texas. Wayne enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and honorably served as a Sgt. in the Vietnam War. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w2*. Following his honorable discharge he attended and graduated from Santa Ana Junior College, Santa Ana, California. After moving to McPherson he then attended and graduated from McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas. Wayne Blue was united in marriage to Lauren Susan Ewertz on August 12, 1966 at Fullerton, California. The young couple established their first home together in El Toro Marine Corps Base, El Toro, California. This union was blessed with the birth of three daughters, Nona, Michelle, and Heather. The family moved to Yorba Linda, California in 1972 until 1981 when the family moved to McPherson, Kansas. Wayne was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Canton, Grace Lutheran Church, McPherson, and Zion Lutheran Church Newton, Kansas where he served in many capacities. He was baptized into Christ and confirmed on December 20, 1970. Wayne was a jack of all trades and a master of none. He worked as a screw inspector for a company in Santa Anna, California, a supervisor for the Alpha Beta Creamery in California, was an independent roofer, worked for Alcor as a supervisor, Swick Guth in customer service, and became an independent insurance agent, all of McPherson. Wayne was a member of the American Legion Post 24, McPherson, Kansas and served as commander as well as serving in many other capacities. Wayne enjoyed following his children and grandchildren in their sports and activities, gardening, fishing, woodworking and making stained glass windows, working on his home and others with many projects until his health would not permit him to do so, and spending time with his family ,especially his grandkids. The grandkids loved teasing Grandpa by calling him Howie or Moses. Wayne is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 55 years, Lauren Blue, of Hesston, Kansas; his children and grandchildren, Nona (Probert) Dubus and her husband Chief Petty Officer Denis Dubus, USN Retired of Summit, Mississippi, their children: Army Specialist Jonathon Probert, Brittany Dubus, David Dubus, and Sarah Torres; Michelle Miller and her husband Bruce of Brookville, Kansas and their children: Anthony Kleinschmidt (Channing Myer), Loren Kleinschmidt (Donna), Christopher Kleinschmidt (Makayla Gerstner) and Chance Miller (Kinley Hodgson); Heather Martin and her husband Ryan of Hesston and their children: Blake, Alex, and Brody; four great-grandchildren, Lalya Dubus, Eli Kleinschmidt, Emmitt Kleinschmidt and Magnolia Kleinschmidt; his siblings Richard (Barbara) Blue Jr. of Rainier, Washington, Cindy Blue of Medford, Oregon, and sister Becky (Dale) Tinklepaugh of Christianburg, Virginia; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Bud and Bernice Ewertz; his brothers Donald, Nathan, and Stephen Blue; and a granddaughter, Rylee Miller. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22nd 2022 at Glidden - Ediger Chapel in McPherson, Kansas. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 23rd 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Canton, Kansas with Pastor Kurt Lecher officiating. Interment will follow the service at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Canton, Kansas. Wayne is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 55 years, Lauren Blue, of Hesston, Kansas; his children and grandchildren, Nona (Probert) Dubus and her husband Chief Petty Officer Denis Dubus, USN Retired of Summit, Mississippi, their children: Army Specialist Jonathon Probert, Brittany Dubus, David Dubus, and Sarah Torres; Michelle Miller and her husband Bruce of Brookville, Kansas and their children: Anthony Kleinschmidt (Channing Myer), Loren Kleinschmidt (Donna), Christopher Kleinschmidt (Makayla Gerstner) and Chance Miller (Kinley Hodgson); Heather Martin and her husband Ryan of Hesston and their children: Blake, Alex, and Brody; four great-grandchildren, Lalya Dubus, Eli Kleinschmidt, Emmitt Kleinschmidt and Magnolia Kleinschmidt; his siblings Richard (Barbara) Blue Jr. of Rainier, Washington, Cindy Blue of Medford, Oregon, and sister Becky (Dale) Tinklepaugh of Christianburg, Virginia; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Darrell Leon Bowen, 50, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at his home in McPherson.&nbsp; He was formerly of Luray, Kansas where he owned and operated Big Daddy’s Bar.&nbsp; He also worked at Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas (Russell, KS) as a medical tech.

He was born April 26, 1972, in McPherson, Kansas, the son of Ronald Nugent and LaVona Jean (Anthony) Bowen.&nbsp; He graduated from Lucas-Luray High School in 1990.

On June 7, 2008, Darrell was united in marriage to April D. Henson in Lucas, KS.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife April of the home; two sons, Walker Brown (Alexis) of Hutchinson, KS and Dakota Brown of McPherson, KS; a brother, Tom Bowen (Tammara) of Hutchinson, KS; two sisters, Lora Ensz (Todd) of McPherson, KS and Cheryl Pemberton (John) of Belton, MO; two grandchildren, Quinn and Serenity Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald Eugene Bowen.

A celebration of Darrell’s life (come and go visitation) will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in the Luray Cemetery on Saturday, June 25.

Stuart (Stu) Allen Spangler, 72, of Sabetha, Kansas died Tuesday evening, June 14, 2022 at Lakeside Terrace in Sabetha, Kansas.

Stuart was born on September 5, 1949 to Merl C. (Cap) and Isabel A. (Izzie) Baxter Spangler. He was welcomed home by an older sister, Alice Ann.&nbsp; 

Stuart grew up in Herington, Kansas where his favorite thing to do was ride his bike around Herington picking up cans. He loved to watch people at work outside and kids at play at the swimming pool, park, and ball fields in the summer months.&nbsp; He was very friendly but shy. He lived a block from the train tracks and liked to watch the train switch in the yard.&nbsp; The 4th&nbsp;of July and Christmas were his favorite holidays.&nbsp; He would light firecrackers with one hand, covering his ears with the other hand.&nbsp; Santa would deliver his presents via a helicopter instead of a sleigh.

Stuart loved spending time and going on vacation with his sister’s family, Alice and Robert Bell, nephews Marty and Robbin, and niece Terri. They often traveled to Colorado staying in cabins at Colorado Springs and Estes Park.&nbsp; They also traveled to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

Stuart left Herington around 1984 for Topeka and then moved to Seneca in May of 1990. &nbsp;Except for a two-year trial of living in his own apartment, Stuart lived at a group home operated by the Nemaha County Training Center. Stuart received support services from NCTC from 1990 to 2018 when he moved to Lakeside Terrace in Sabetha.&nbsp; 

He was employed by the J-6 Farms hog operation in rural Seneca from September 1995 to June 2011.&nbsp; Stuart absolutely loved working at J-6 with the little pigs!&nbsp; He developed a wonderful friendship with his supervisor, Bob Boden and his wife, Joyce, and other employees at the farm. These were friendships that he cherished and would fondly talk about even after retiring from J-6.

Stuart always had a love for the railroad, which he got from his father.&nbsp; Merl worked for the Rock Island Railroad, holding various jobs including fireman, brakeman, engineer, and conductor.&nbsp; Stuart’s room was always decorated with train décor that he loved to collect, and he loved to wear t-shirts with train logos and his engineer’s cap. For his 50th&nbsp;birthday, his wonderful friends, Lorna and Ed Farrell, took him to Railroad Days in Topeka.&nbsp; While at Lakeside Terrace he was able to go see the Union Pacific Big Boy Steam Engine and frequently visited Van’s Electric model train collection in Fairview, Kansas.&nbsp; Stuart always looked forward to every holiday because his loving niece, Terri, would always send him a package.&nbsp; Stuart cherished each package she sent.

Stuart was known by everyone in Seneca and was very self-sufficient!&nbsp; Stuart would visit every job site, inquiring on what they were building and monitoring their progress.&nbsp; He would also sit for hours by the railroad tracks when a train crew was working.&nbsp; He was known to ride his tricycle around town helping keep Seneca clean.&nbsp; Stuart had a wagon made for his tricycle so he could pick up trash or pop cans to recycle.&nbsp; You never knew what Stuart was going to bring home that were “treasures” in his wagon!&nbsp; He always had a plan or a project in mind for those “treasures” he found along the way.

Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, Merl on November 3, 1984, and Isabel on November 10, 1981; his sister and brother-in-law, Alice Ann Bell on November 22, 2013 and Robert J. Bell on December 26, 2021; and a great-nephew, Colbie Bell.

Stuart is survived by his legal guardian and long-time friend, Susan L. Bowman and husband, Dr. David A. Bowman; his nephews Marty (wife, Kelly) Bell and Robbin Bell; his niece Terri Winter (husband, Ron); great-nephews Tyler Bell and Colton Bell; a great-niece, Brooke Bell; and many wonderful and caring friends in the Sabetha and Seneca communities.

A memorial will be held at a later date in the Fellowship Center at 1441 Virginia St., Sabetha, KS. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, KS at a later date.

James (Jim) Steven Anderson passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 71. Jim was born in Concordia, KS on November 18, 1950 to Clair Anderson and Wilda Graham Anderson of Clyde, KS.

Jim grew up in Clyde and graduated from Clyde High School in 1968. Jim attended Kansas State University, worked with his father in the bank for several years, and was active in the Clyde community as a city councilperson, a volunteer firefighter, and a member of the Clyde Ball Association.

After completing his degree in social work at Kansas State University, he worked for St. Francis Community Services, Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging, and the Kansas Department for Children and Families where he served families residing in the counties of the 12th Judicial District until his retirement. Jim was actively involved for over 20 years with the Cloud County Food Bank and the Cloud County Chemical Dependency Committee.

Jim was an avid K-State fan and enjoyed anything and everything Wildcat and purple. He loved walking, photography, crafting homemade soap, and spending time with his family and friends. Along with his wife, Mary, he especially loved providing daycare for many of his grandchildren over the years.

Jim is survived by his wife Mary Emery Anderson of Concordia; three sons from his first marriage to Ruth Nelson: Matthew Anderson (Brittany) of Concordia, Jonathan Anderson (Sherry) of Abilene, TX, and Joel Anderson (Virginia) of Concordia; his stepdaughter Katie Jones of Concordia; and his stepson Barrett Jones (Whitney) of Concordia.&nbsp;

Jim enjoyed several grandchildren: Matthew and Brittany's children Kynlee, Emery, and Cambry; Jonathan and Sherry's children Kaylee (Michael), Clint, and Colby; Joel and Virginia's children Linnea and Juniper; Katie's daughter Lennon; and Barrett and Whitney's children Katarina and Killian. Jim is also survived by his sister Cheryl Larmore (Rick) of Elkhorn, NE; niece Sarah Bailey (Troy) and their children Scout, Trip, and Knox of Elkhorn, NE; and niece Chelsea Garvin (Ross) and their children Graham and Sawyer of Texas.

Jim also leaves behind many cousins, neighbors, and friends.

Jim was cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas. Burial of his cremains will be in the Mt. Dwight Harold Greenough of Abilene, KS passed away on June 13, 2022 at the age of 88.

Dwight was born on July 14, 1933 near Talmage on the family farm to the son of Tom and Eva (Smith) Greenough.

He attended Center Grade School, a one-room school walking to and from with his sisters. At night using a kerosene lamp he learned to read and write as was common in the country. He grew up in the Dirty '30s when times were hard and during WWII using ration stamps. 

He graduated from Chapman High School in 1951, meeting and marrying his high school sweetheart Sharolyn Burjes.

He owned Greenough Body Shop and Wrecker Service for over 60 years, repairing vehicles and operating the towing service along South Buckeye. He could always be spotted driving one of the wreckers.&nbsp;Dwight especially enjoyed running the wrecker service being called out all hours and in all types of weather. He towed just about every kind of vehicle on the road including cars, tractors, trucks and semis. Recovery work included unloading trailers and up righting them back on to their wheels. He helped save many lives as there were times when the wrecker was used to lift vehicles during a rescue. He also told of stories of helping people with little money by not charging them for towing and repairs.

Dwight was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Elks Lodge, in Abilene. He and Sharolyn delivered Meals on Wheels, and he was a volunteer fireman. He also enjoyed playing golf, boating and camping and going to casinos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dale and two sisters Maxine Meehan and Kathleen Suetter. 

He is survived by his wife Sharolyn, his three sons Dee (Diane) of Abilene, Jay (Cheryl) of Lenexa, KS, Jon (Valerie) of Platte City, MO. Grandchildren include Angela, Dustin, Lauren, Morgan, Clint and Chelsea, and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters,&nbsp; Shirley Spidell and Marilyn Emerson as well as several nieces and nephews, friends.

Services for Dwight will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery near Enterprise with Pastor Lindsey Brummer officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Danner Funeral Home.

Lois M. Kepple, 95, Tescott, died Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. Lois was born April 9, 1927, in Salina to Elmer and Elsie (Fischer) Nelson.

Lois and George W. Kepple were united in marriage on October 20, 1946. 

She worked many jobs in her lifetime, but she will be most remembered for her years of driving the school bus for Tescott and Minneapolis. She was a member of the Tescott United Methodist Church and she was an avid quilter.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Ottawa County Health Center for their kind, loving, and compassionate care that was given to Lois these past few years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; brother Wayne Nelson; and her sister Norma Reed.

Survivors are her daughters Linda Ryan, Janet Pasley and her husband, Ron, and Karen Stelter and her husband, Ron; sister Joyce Graham; seven grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 20 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Culver Union Cemetery. Johnney “John” Lee Guffey, 81, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, surrounded by his family at Hillsboro Community Hospital.&nbsp; Over the years, he worked for San Ore, Mistletoe Express, Beaver Express, and Prairieland Partners.

John was born on February 26, 1941, in Fairlane, OK, the son of Vernon M. and Ruby (May) Guffey.&nbsp; He graduated from Codell High School.&nbsp; He served in the United States Army from October 31, 1963 to October 29, 1965.&nbsp;

 On December 29, 1969, John was united in marriage to Kay F. Basgall in Loretta, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children, Jeffrey, Brian, and Betty.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion Post #24.&nbsp;

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Kay, of the home; two children, Brian Guffey of McPherson, KS and Betty Laney (Josh) of Walton, KS; four grandchildren, Kane Guffey, Katelyn Guffey, Nichole Yianakopulos, and Caleb Laney; two great-grandchildren, Landyn Koons and Koda McFadden; a brother, Richard Guffey (Deb) of Hays, KS; sister-in-law Carol Guffey of Brunswick, GA; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ronald Guffey; sister Janis Johnson; a son, Jeffrey Guffey; a grandson, Trenton Yianakopulos; and daughter-in-law Cindy Guffey.

He attended Center Grade School, a one-room school walking to and from with his sisters. At night using a kerosene lamp he learned to read and write as was common in the country. He grew up in the Dirty '30s&nbsp; when times were hard and during WWII using ration stamps. He graduated from Chapman High School in 1951 meeting and marrying his high school sweetheart Sharolyn Burjes.

He owned Greenough Body Shop and Wrecker Service for over 60 years repairing vehicles and operating the towing service along South Buckeye. He could always be spotted driving one of the wreckers.

Dwight especially enjoyed running the wrecker service being called out all hours and in all types of weather. He towed just about every kind of vehicle on the road including cars, tractors, trucks and semis. Recovery work included unloading trailers and up righting them back on to their wheels.&nbsp;He helped save many lives as there were times when the wrecker was used to lift vehicles during a rescue. He also told of stories of helping people with little money by not charging them for towing and repairs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dale and two sisters Maxine Meehan and Kathleen Suetter.

 He is survived by his wife Sharolyn, his three sons Dee (Diane) of Abilene, Jay (Cheryl) of Lenexa, KS, Jon (Valerie) of Platte City, MO. Grand children include Angela, Dustin, Lauren, Morgan, Clint and Chelsea, and thirteen great grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters: Shirley Spidell and Marilyn Emerson as well as several nieces and nephews, friends.

Services for Dwight will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery near Enterprise with Pastor Lindsey Brummer officiating. 

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Danner Funeral Home.

Gerald Wade "Speedy" Miller of McPherson, KS, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022, in the loving home he and his wife Barbara lived in since 1973.

Gerald was born December 22, 1946, in McPherson, the son of Wade Ward Miller and Lucile Marie (Fairchild) of McPherson Kansas.

Gerald grew up playing marbles, cowboys and Indians, army, hide and go seek, baseball, pheasant hunting in western Kansas, and anything outside. &nbsp;One of his fondest childhood memories was riding the tractor with Granddad Fairchild in the dark fields at night. Other memories include playing till after dark around the home he grew up in at 700 South Chestnut in McPherson.

Gerald went to Roosevelt Grade School, McPherson Intermediate School, and McPherson Senior High. He attended Wichita State University from 1964-1969, earning a degree in elementary education and earning the honor of distinguished military student in ROTC.

On August 6, 1967, he married Barbara Jean Kline at the First United Methodist Church in McPherson. Both Speedy and Barb say they were lucky to have both the boy they wanted when Richard Warren was born in 1969 and daughter Amy RaeAnn in 1972.

Gerald served as a convoy trail officer and convoy commander in Vietnam in 1970-71 where he earned a Bronze Star with V-Device. After completing his tour in Vietnam, he returned to McPherson to work in the family auto shop until he sold the shop in 2008.

Gerald attended and served at First Baptist Church, McPherson where he was a member since 1958. Gerald taught Sunday School classes and actively served the church youth group. Gerald was baptized at age 12. His life embodied the Christian Faith due to his devoted love for Jesus his Lord and Savior.

Gerald was an Eagle Scout and later went on to serve as an adult leader for Troop 133. He even finished a grueling two-week hike in the New Mexico mountains with son Richard. Speedy also found time to help his father-in-law Shorty Kline bring T-ball to McPherson. Gerald coached T-ball as well as umpired for Kansas and Western League baseball.

Gerald was a member of the McPherson Optimist Club and was named Optimist of the Year in 1979. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge where he was Officer of the Year in 1999-2000. He served on several boards including Big Brothers &amp; Big Sisters, McPherson Pheasants Forever, Kansas Tire Dealers Association, and Washington Elementary School PTA President. The Millers, along with Jim and Gayle Snow, operated the McPherson County Teen Center for 10 years.

Speedy fulfilled one dream by winning the Senior Division Golf Championship at the McPherson Country Club in 2009 and yet another by sky diving on different occasions.

Gerald lived life to the fullest as he enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, trips to the east coast, snow skiing, water skiing, country dancing, teaching country dancing, winters in Arizona, trips to Lake of the Ozarks, and golfing with friends and family.

Gerald’s greatest passion was supporting his grandchildren in whatever activities they pursued. For the past 10 years, his passion for watching McPherson baseball became iconic. He was the adopted “grandpa” of the team. Gerald could be heard cheering for every batter and every good play – and on occasion correcting the umpire on an incorrect call. In spite of his declining health, he wouldn’t miss a game – as if his life depended on it.&nbsp; In one of the final games Gerald attended, his grandson Joey Miller pitched a “no hitter,” a proud moment for Grandpa.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara Miller; two children, Richard Miller (Leslee) of McPherson and Amy Fulcher (Chad Haen) of McPherson; &nbsp;grandchildren Ryan Fulcher, Myranda Vera (Carlos), Maggie Miller, Joey Miller, Claire Miller, and Payton Miller; great-grandchildren Ellena Vera and Emery Vera; sister Sharon Bosley of Arlington, TX; and brother Warren Miller (Cathy) of Colorado Springs, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Rebecca Fulcher.

Gerald lived to love and serve his family, church, community, and country. Gerald had too many friends to count and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

A celebration of Gerald’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, at the First Baptist Church.&nbsp; Inurnment, with military honors, will follow at McPherson Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday (June 23) at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
