Jane Ann (Jarrett) Rupright, 74 of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Friday evening, March 11, 2022 at Salina Regional Health Care Center.&nbsp;

She was born on March 25, 1947 in Bluffton, Indiana to Bentley B. &amp; Loretta H. (Schell) Jarrett. She grew up in the Liberty Center Baptist Church with her family and graduated from Southern Wells High School in 1968.&nbsp; She furthered her education and graduated from Asbury College of Nursing.&nbsp; Jane worked for 35 years as a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing and was a member of the Salina Baptist Church in Kansas.

Survivors include her two sons, Gabe &amp; Stacey Rupright and Cullen &amp; Chris Marshall, both of Ottawa, Kansas, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, along with her brother, Eric “Rick” Jarrett of Liberty Center and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Daniel F. Marshall along with a brother, Clinton E. Jarrett.

A graveside service has taken place in the Jarrett family plot at Mossburg Cemetery in Liberty Center, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life Service for Jane will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Bennington Bible Church in Bennington, Kansas.

Robert E. 
Russell of Leawood, Kansas passed into heaven on March 14, 2022. &nbsp;Bob 
was born on January 31, 1931, in Salina, Kansas, to Chester E. and 
Margaret A. Russell. &nbsp;He grew up in several communities in Kansas and 
graduated from Abilene High School in 1949. Bob starred on the varsity 
baseball and basketball teams for the Cowboys and was chosen by his 
teammates as the captain of the basketball team in his senior year. That
 year, the local newspaper remarked, “Russell is not a court flash, in 
the glamorous sense… But would gain any coach’s vote as ‘The boy we’d 
most like to have when the pressure’s on.’”

Bob started college following graduation from high school 
but his journey towards his bachelor’s degree was interrupted by four 
years of service in the US Navy. &nbsp;He completed a tour in the South 
Pacific on the USS Renville in 1954-1955.

After his 
years in the service Bob earned a BS in business and education from 
Emporia State University in 1957. &nbsp;He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa 
fraternity. He then earned his MS degree in business from Emporia State 
in 1959. While working on his degrees he met and married Marian E. Baier
 of Salina, Kansas. &nbsp;The two celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren on August 18, 2021. &nbsp;

Bob made his career in education. &nbsp;His first teaching job 
was at Washington High School in Kansas City, Kansas. In addition to 
teaching business courses, he coached basketball and baseball. &nbsp;Bob 
loved sports. He was a lifetime fan of the Detroit Tigers and became a 
big fan of the University of Kansas basketball team in his later years.

After completing some additional study in the area of 
finance at Stanford University, Bob accepted a position as Dean of 
Instruction and head basketball coach at Midwest Institute in Eureka, 
Kansas. &nbsp;Bob worked with the “Babos” for three years then journeyed on 
to become the Chair of the Department of Business and Education at the 
University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. Bob earned tenure at St. 
Mary in 1974 and was honored with the title of Professor Emeritus upon 
his retirement. Bob’s passion was sharing his time and his talent with 
his students so they could enjoy success.

Following retirement Bob channeled his competitive spirit 
into the game of golf. He could often be found on a golf course or a 
driving range by himself, constantly working to get better. His love for
 the game was passed onto his grandsons, whom he charged $0.25 per 
lesson.

Bob Russell will be remembered as a kind and compassionate
 teacher, friend, husband, father, and grandfather. &nbsp;He had a great 
sense of humor and the humility to laugh at himself, readily accepting 
the perfection of the nickname “Tweety” given to him by his colleagues 
at Washington High School.

Bob loved being a dad to Darcy Russell and Denise Russell 
Trowbridge. To his daughters he was protector, advisor, and chief 
encourager. Both his daughters earned their doctorates, because their 
dad was cheering them forward through all the challenging years of 
study. &nbsp;Bob loved being a grandfather to RJ Trowbridge and Zack 
Trowbridge. &nbsp;To his grandsons he was coach, teacher, advisor, and 
confidant. Bob loved watching them play sports with their friends. He 
loved analyzing the basketball game or the round of golf with them and 
he was the first to celebrate their wins with a big smile. He also found
 joy in watching them grow into their careers.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marian, 
his daughters, Darcy and Denise, Denise’s husband Scott Trowbridge and 
their sons RJ and Zack, as well as several nieces and nephews. &nbsp;He was 
preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marjorie Russell 
McAdams.

Funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 1:30pm at Church of 
the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224. A 
visitation will be held prior from 1-130. &nbsp;Burial at Pleasant Valley 
Cemetery.

Maryanne was born on June 6, 1935, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Lyndell Webster and Ina Josephine (Slabach) McDonald.&nbsp; She graduated from McPherson High School and attended McPherson College and Hutchinson Community College.&nbsp;

 On September 3, 1954, Maryanne was united in marriage to Ronald “Ronnie” Dean Webb in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; They were married for 60 years before his passing on January 25, 2015.&nbsp;

She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include three children, Michele Peel and husband, Kerry “Kap”, of Lafayette, CO, Kelli Dossett and husband, Mike, of McPherson, KS, and Mike Webb and wife, Kristen, of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Robert McDonald of Wichita, KS; ten grandchildren, Emily (Wade) Cherms, Trevor Dossett, Abe and Jake (Theresa) Tinsley, Molly and Henry Peel, Taylor (Lexi), Spencer (Mercedes), Kalea, and Kaiya Webb; five great-grandchildren, Blake and Ella Jones, Fallon Webb, Judy Lynn Tinsley, and Ellie Peel; many special nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Jean Carol Rose was born on January 14, 1933 in the home in the Dentonia, Kansas area, the daughter to Glen and Agnes (Boyer) Simmelink. The family moved to the Ionia, Kansas area when Jean was 10 years old. She attended country schools, and graduated from the Ionia High School.

Jean and Bob Rose were married in 1951 on April Fools Day. Jean and Bob lived most of their lives on the hog farm 1 ½ miles south of Ionia. They enjoyed three children, Rod, Tammy, and Sylvia.

Jean enjoyed running errands for the farm, hauling rock or milo in the old Diamond T truck, cooking for the men, and doing the bookwork for the hog farm by pen and paper. No computers.

She received her pilot’s license at the age of 45. Bob, Rod, and Jean all took their first lessons on the same day. It was a joy, and also a different experience.

Jean loved people, she liked playing piano and showing horses, including riding her horses in numerous parades and trail rides. Jean and Bob sang together at many weddings and funerals, and she was a member of many local women’s clubs.

After many adventures with the horses, the need to retire finally came. It was almost as hard to get her to give up riding as it was to get her to give up her little blue car.

Jean went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 14, 2022. She had just turned 89 years old.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 67 years, Bob.

Jean is survived by her sister Joan White of Geneva, Nebraska; her brother Charles Simmelink and his wife Kay of Madras, Oregon; son Rodney and wife Rita Rose of Ionia; daughters Tammy and husband Bob Lee of Culver, Kansas and Sylvia and her husband Bobby Leach of Gunnison, Colorado; grandchildren Marty Rose, Ryan Lee, and Luke Albritton; great-grandchildren Dakota Rose, Collin Rose, and Emory Albritton; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

“Memories are made of all these things.”

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 18 at the Ionia Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Ionia Methodist Church. Friends and family are invited to attend both services. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.

Darrell W. Wiley, 85, of Chapman, Kansas passed away March 15, 2022 at Geary Community Hospital. He was born September 14, 1936 in Solomon, Kansas, the son of Harry and Mildred (Watt) Wiley. 

He enlisted in the United States Army after high school, serving three years stationed in Germany. Darrell earned his master's degree at Kansas State University. On February 4, 1961 he was united in marriage to Lucille Holt. 

Darrell worked at the Kansas State University in the faculty departments and later worked as the food service director for Wichita public schools. 

Darrell and Lucille bought a farm house outside of Chapman where he farmed. 

He was involved in the Navarre and Chapman Lion’s Club, co-op board at Navarre, Chapman United Methodist Church, Chapman councilman, president of the Chapman Community Foundation, 4-H leader and coached little league baseball. 

Darrell is survived by his loving wife Lucille of the home, three daughters: Kelly (Dave) Wendt of Hope; Toni (Shane) Britt of Gardner and Amy (Gary) Coup of Herington, son Darin (Stacia) Wiley of Abilene, nine grandchildren: Paul (Heather) Stackley; Brooke (Ryan) Cooey; Ethan (Kaitlin) Britt; Brogan (Jon) Griffith; Sgt. Carina (Patricia) Coup; MaKayla Coup; Brett Coup; Tori Foy; Jaxon Foy, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. 

The family has chosen cremation. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2022 at the Chapman United Methodist Church.

&nbsp;On March 15, 2022, James (Jim) Belvill, age 64, passed away peacefully at home after fighting a courageous nine-month battle with cancer. He was born to Louis and Darlene (Perkins) Belvill in Denver, Colorado on June 18, 1957, and grew up in Concordia,&nbsp;Kansas.

After graduating from Concordia High School in 1976, he worked as a welder at CE for many years. 

On July 28, 1979, he united in marriage with Jearl Rae Thoman. They later divorced but remained lifelong friends. 

Jim moved to McPherson, Kansas, where he worked at Ultrafab. After working there for many years as a welder, he moved to Abilene, Kansas, to be closer to family. He most recently worked as a welder for Brierton Engineering. Jim loved his time there and considered the Brierton team part of his extended family. He greatly appreciated their support during his illness. 

Jim was a loving son, a loyal friend, and the best brother any sister could have. He loved his sisters very much and would do anything for them. He had a huge heart and would give his last dime to anyone in need.

 Jim is survived by his mother Darlene (Belvill) Davis of Abilene; sisters Deb (Mike) Jackson of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; Maria (Jim) Nuss of Abilene; Toni (Kurt) Johnston of Concordia; and Sherrie Richard of Concordia. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Louie; stepfather Willie Davis; and paternal and maternal grandparents. 

Per Jim's request, there will not be a memorial service or funeral. His immediate family will have a celebration of his life at a later date.

Sally traveled the world as a military spouse, including England, Arizona, Guam and Michigan. She was a member of Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, Salina, for 50 years. Any memorials may be directed to the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis (“Frank”) J. Crowley to whom she was married for 53 years.

 She is survived by her two children, daughter Frances Crowley and son-in-law John Dickey of Texas City, TX, son Timothy Crowley and daughter-in-law Edi Crowley of Madison, CT, four grandchildren, Adam Crowley (Aileen Gallagher), Claire Crowley (Ben Palkowski), Thomas Dickey (Nicole Arvin) and Elizabeth Dickey McFaddin (Alex McFaddin), four great-grandchildren, Aleela McFaddin, Alex Janelle McFaddin, Kieran Dickey and Axel McFaddin, and several nieces and nephews.

As with many in her generation she was raised during the Depression and from this came her lifelong love of gardening and she spent many happy hours in her flower gardens. Her many grandchildren loved to come and spend the night with grandma and grandpa as she spoiled them.

She is survived by her son Stan Byquist; daughter Sherlyn (Denny) Everett, and son Brad (Jeanne) Byquist; grandchildren Stacy (James) Brown, Jesica (Matt) Branstetter, Jill (Blake) Ryan, Grant Byquist, Trent (Ruby), Byquist, and Bridget Byquist; and nine great-grand children. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, and a daughter-in-law, Marla Byquist.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from noon until the hour of the service. Inurnment will follow the memorial service at the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Dwight “Dee” Eugene Revels, 62, of Houston, Texas, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born September 21, 1959, in Salina, Kansas.

He was active in Special Olympics, loved music, and was always happy to greet friends and acquaintances.

Dee worked at The Board of Trade Lounge and Revels Catering in Salina. He was active in ARC, an organization for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

He was preceded in death by his parents Beverly and Eugene Revels, also his brother-in-law Milton Johnson.

Survivors include his sisters B. Gwen Revels, Kathy Mays (Al), and Terry Revels, nephew Ryan Mays (Hannah), niece Keri Howard (Justin), and two great-nephews.

Connie Jean Decker, of Issaquah, WA, died peacefully at Swedish Medical Center-Cherry Hill in Seattle, WA on Sunday, September 5, 2021. She was 85 years of age.

Connie Decker was born on February 25, 1936 in McPherson, Kansas, the eldest daughter of Clarence and Bertha Tector. 

She was raised in Galva, Kansas, and graduated from Galva High School. Connie received a scholarship to Emporia State Teachers College, where she attended her freshman year. She later attended Lake Washington Vocational Technical School to receive medical secretary and medical assistant training. Connie worked in various fields, from a secretary at Air Force Contract Beech Aircraft Corporation in Wichita, Kansas to a medical office manager in Kirkland, Washington.

Connie married her high school sweetheart Irvin B. Decker on August 26, 1956. Connie’s husband Irvin served as a pilot with the United States Air Force from June 1959 to July 1964. After leaving the Air Force, Irvin and Connie moved their family to Bellevue, Washington, where Irvin was employed as a production test pilot with the Seattle Boeing Company.

Connie was a devoted homemaker, raising her two daughters and volunteering with activities. She was a member of the Bellevue Newcomers Welcome Wagon Club, where she held the offices of vice president and secretary. She was also in a bowling league, Children’s Orthopedic Hospital Guild, and a Girl Scout leader for her daughters’ Girl Scout troop.

Throughout her adult life Connie loved playing bridge. Connie also took up plastic canvas needlepoint and enjoyed making Barbie furniture for her granddaughters. Connie’s four grandchildren were her pride and joy. She cherished the time she spent with her daughters and their families on six cruises to Alaska (twice), Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean, and New England and Canada. She also enjoyed traveling with Irvin on his Boeing trips to Europe, Australia and Asia. After retirement in 1990, Irvin and Connie spent three years visiting all 48 contiguous states in their motorhome. They also traveled to Iceland and Greenland, one of Connie’s favorite trips. More than anything, Connie loved playing games with her daughters and their families at family reunions. She was thrilled to finally meet her great-granddaughter Peyton at the most recent reunion on Whidbey Island last Memorial Day weekend.

Irvin and Connie moved to Providence Point, Issaquah in 1998. Connie made many new friends and enjoyed a variety of social activities, including bridge and hula dancing. 

Connie’s husband Irvin preceded her in death on June 13, 2010; Connie’s sister Shirley McKinney preceded her in death on October 4, 2020.

Survivors include her daughters Brenda Asheim of Carnation, Washington, and Carla Smith of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; two brothers, Larry Tector of Galva, Kansas, and Kendall Tector of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren, Tara Saunders, Brenton Smith, Christine Smith and Brandon Asheim; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Cade Saunders.

A private family graveside service and inurnment will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Empire Cemetery near Galva, Kansas. &nbsp;A public reception and Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, in the McPherson Opera House grand ballroom.

The family suggests that memorial donations be given to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

John W. McCreight, Sr. passed away peacefully on March 9, 2022.&nbsp; John was born May 15, 1940 in Youngstown, Ohio, son of Clarence and Genevieve (Gillis) McCreight. &nbsp;

He is survived by his two sons John (Jay) McCreight, Jr. and Jeffrey McCreight, two grandchildren, Maria Wayne and Kevin McCreight, four siblings, Jim McCreight, Margaret Schutte, David McCreight, and Robert McCreight, as well as many other relatives.&nbsp;

John is preceded in death by his wife Kathryn McCreight, both parents, daughter Anne Wayne, and his sister Mary Means.&nbsp;

John graduated from Sterling College in May, 1961.&nbsp; While at Sterling, John met and married his wife Kathryn.&nbsp; The two married Sept 3, 1961.&nbsp; 

Soon after graduating, John joined the U.S. Air Force as an officer.&nbsp; He is a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served a tour while his sons were born.&nbsp; John served 22 years in the USAF after which he retired to Ellsworth, KS.&nbsp; 

He stayed active in retirement with volunteer work, serving his church, communicating with friends and family, and comprising a genealogical record of the McCreight family, where he amassed over 43,000 names.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Visitation held at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth, KS, Thursday, March 17 from 5-8 p.m.&nbsp; A Celebration of Life service is Friday, March 18 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Ellsworth KS.&nbsp; Burial immediately follows at Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery

Diane Marie Glauser was born on January 23, 1956 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of George and Anita Brummer Eilert. She died Monday, March 14, 2022 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit at the age of 66.

She grew up on the family farm south of Beloit, where she attended country school. Her family moved into Beloit, where she attended St. John’s before graduating from Beloit High School in 1974. Following graduation, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Hilltop Lodge and Long Term Care for many years.

On February 20, 1982, she was united in marriage with Larry Glauser. Two children, Kristen and Justin were born to this union.

She greatly enjoyed being outdoors, either helping on the farm, mowing, or planting her flowers. She also loved her family, and was affectionately known as Mimo or Mamo to her grandkids.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Debbie Wilcox.

She is survived by her husband Larry of the home; daughter Kristen and husband Matt Chaput of Assaria; son Justin and wife Brittney of Glen Elder; five grandchildren, Emma, Ella, and Easton Chaput, and Jacee and Kane Glauser; siblings Kathy (Dave) Scott of Glen Elder, Marlene Jaso of Louisville, KY, Darlene Fischer of Gardner, KS, Sondra (John) Richardson of Belleville, Mary (John) Quinley of Salina, Joan (Bill) Meysenburg of Salina, Tim (Betty) Eilert of Beloit, Henry (Betty) Eilert of Concordia, Gary (Susan) Eilert of Beloit, Karen (Brad) Kesl of Hays, and Donna (Scott) Remus of Glen Elder; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viola married Herman Heard, Sr. She was a member of a Baptist church in Oklahoma City. Viola was Baptist and a saved woman.

She did the best she could with what she had. She greeted with love and a smile. It gladdens my heart to know she was saved and today she rests in the arms of the Lord. Viola loved to be around her family and see the smile on her face when she saw her grandkids and great grandkids. Yes, she truly adored her grandchildren.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Leonard Ray Heard; brothers Billy Joe Heartfield, Lonny B. Gibson, J.T. Barber, L.J. Barber, W.J. Barber, Eddie B. Barber, and Willie Heartfield; sister Emma Jean Heartfield, Pearlie May Ross, and Corren Duffy.

SALINA - Dr. John N. Miller passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at his home. He was born September 15, 1952 in Salina to his parents Vance V. and Harriette F. (Nelson) Miller. 

John was a graduate of the Salina High School class of 1970 and the University of Kansas Class of 1974 with a B.S. in Chemistry. Upon graduation from K.U., he went on to the University of Missouri- Kansas City School of Dentistry where received his D.D.S. degree.

John was always a man with a plan. He knew that he wanted to become a dentist while in the ffourth grade and that he wanted to return to his hometown to practice which he did for 41 years. His spare time was filled with an endless number of projects and always planning the next. John had a passion for resurrecting, rebuilding and restoring vintage MOPAR cars and trucks to pristine condition as well as smaller John Deere tractors. His talent was endless.

John is survived by his wife Sandy; daughter Claire Miller (Jose Gonzalez) of Kansas City; son Nathan Miller of Overland Park; brother Bob Miller (Linda); nephews Lance Miller (Michelle) and John Miller of Salina; and niece Melanie Miller of Topeka.

A very special thank you to Jennifer Bachofer and Karla Montoy for their years of dedication to John and his practice as well as their caring and compassion during the course of his illness.

Cremation was chosen and a private memorial service is planned. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St., Salina, KS 67401 is handling the arrangements.

Consuelo “Chelo” Diaz, age 95 of Salina, died on Saturday, March 12, 2022, after a brief illness. She was born in Havana, Cuba on December 27, 1926, and lived there until 1961 when she emigrated with her family to the United States after the Cuban revolution.

Settling in Kansas City with relatives and speaking little English, she was able to complete her bachelor’s degree in languages at the University of Missouri in 1965. She then moved to Lawrence, Kansas, the same year to pursue a master’s in Spanish studies at the University of Kansas.

In 1968, Chelo and her two children moved to Salina, where she began teaching languages and literature at Kansas Wesleyan. Her career there spanned three decades – she was still in the classroom at age 80! She reveled in teaching and was loved by her many students who looked in on her over the years.

Besides her children, her passions were languages, classical music, and chocolate. An accomplished pianist, she played the piano nearly every day for most of her life.

Her greatest achievement was raising two children successfully alone in a foreign country after leaving Cuba with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.

She then moved to Lawrence, Kansas, the same year to pursue a master’s in Spanish studies at the University of Kansas.In 1968, Chelo and her two children moved to Salina, where she began teaching languages and literature at Kansas Wesleyan. Her career there spanned three decades – she was still in the classroom at age 80! She reveled in teaching and was loved by her many students who looked in on her over the years.Besides her children, her passions were languages, classical music, and chocolate. An accomplished pianist, she played the piano nearly every day for most of her life.Her greatest achievement was raising two children successfully alone in a foreign country after leaving Cuba with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.She is survived by her son Mike Diaz and wife, Kim, of Salina, and her daughter Sylvia D’Angelo and husband Jim of Minneapolis, MN., and several nieces and nephews.Chelo was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Diaz, her father, Santiago Coca, her mother Rosa Garganta de Choca and siblings, Maria Dolores, Rosita, Margarita, Santiago, Ramon, and Maria.The family would like to thank the staff of Reflections Home Plus and Legacy at Salina.Private services will be held for family only.Donations may be made in her name to Kansas Wesleyan University or to The Land Institute, both of Salina, Kansas.For online condolences, go to: Roselawn Mortuaries website: <a href="http://roselawnsalina.com">roselawnsalina.com</a>.
