Kay Donna Savage, 79, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 22nd, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Kay was born in Plainview, Texas on April 13, 1943, a daughter of Gayle Anise (Leachman) and Paris Vance Cargill.

On August 24, 1961, Kay married Roy Eldridge Savage, Jr.

She is a former missionary with the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. She was a pastor's wife and also loved to spend time with her family, her dog Biscuit, traveling, and church.

Survivors include two sons, Cary Savage (Jodi), of Durango, Colorado, Greg Savage(Heidi), of Salina, Kansas; daughter Krista Ball (Mark), of Great Bend, Kansas. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy; sister Shirley Rinhardt.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 27th at First Southern Baptist Church in Salina, Kansas with Pastor Greg Savage officiating.

Paul Wayne Rader, 75, of Falun, Kansas was born on May 13, 1947 and passed away September 21, 2022 at Salina Regional Health Center. 

Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents, both his mother and father, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Mr. Rader is survived by his wife Joyce; two sons, Edward and Clinton Rader; one uncle, Wallace Rader; brothers Dennis L. Rader, William G. Rader, Jeffrey D. Rader; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Paul was well liked by most everyone he met. He grew up in Kansas while living very close to many of his cousins and grandparen

After graduating from Wichita Heights School, Paul entered the United States Navy, serving four years off the west coast. He toured Vietnam waters while commanding a Boston Whaler and acted as a signalman on other ships. Later, Paul returned to the Navy and served off the East coast for two more years. 

Paul chose to attend a year at Butler County Community College, then moved out west, logging in Oregon country for a few years, then returning to Kansas to build pole barns. 

After his marriage, Paul chose to work in the security and construction fields. He also enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard, where he chose to retire in 2007 after 29 years of service. In 1993, Paul was hired by the State of Kansas to help maintain the training facilities for the National Guard. He retired from the state at the age of 72.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 26th from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas.

Pastor J. J. Sexton will be presiding the final services at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 27th at Village Bible Church, 1301 Osage Avenue, in Salina, Kansas.

Graveside service to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1920 E. Crawford St., Salina, Kansas.

Family requests nothing to be delivered to the home.

She was an adoring wife of 49 years to her loving husband, Paul Everett Morse, until his passing in 2008.

Jerri, as she was known to friends and family, was a cherished daughter to her mother Minnie Ivy McCoach, a caring sister to her younger brother Loren Dowell. She treasured time spent with him and his wife Nancy.

Jerri was an incredible mother to her three surviving children, Michael Paul Morse, age 59, Michelle Patrice Morse, age 57, and her wife Evamarie Smith, and Douglas Paul Morse, age 56.&nbsp;

She will be dearly missed by so many friends who knew her, loved her, and made sure to stay in touch no matter the time passed or distance in between.

&nbsp;Jerri had a full life and was a long-time resident of Salina, Kansas, who attended Salina Central High School and spent her later years in the same home where she was raised as a child. It was a home where all were welcome and where many happy memories were made and shared.

Leslie R. “Les” Thiessen, 88, peacefully passed away on September 20, 2022 at Pine Village in Moundridge, KS. Les was born to Jacob E. Thiessen and Bertha Androes Thiessen on November 24, 1933. He was born on the family farm near Meade, KS. His family moved to Inman, KS when he was six years old. Les was baptized on August 13, 1950, becoming a member of the Inman Mennonite Church. After his marriage to Joy Ann Goering, he transferred his membership to Eden Mennonite Church, where he remained a faithful member until his passing. Following his graduation from Inman High School in 1952, Les worked at Rodney Milling Company in McPherson, KS before serving with the United States Army in Germany from March 1956 through March 1958. Les and Joy met on a blind date, and they were married on May 24, 1960. They were blessed with three daughters, Connie Jean, Karen Sue, and Cheryl Kay. The family later grew to include three sons-in-law, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In 1998, Les retired from Sterling Drug in McPherson. He greatly enjoyed his retirement and was able to spend more time on his favorite hobby of woodworking. He loved to create things for his grandkids, and over the years made many treasured items including child-size furniture, rocking horses, doll cradles, and much more. Les was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Bertha Thiessen; two sisters, Velma Carden and Shirley Shuff; and two brothers, Larry Thiessen and Ronald Thiessen. Survivors include his wife Joy Thiessen of Moundridge; three daughters, Connie Achilles (Stan) of Newton, Karen Ortiz (Fred) of Wichita, and Cheryl Boesker (Gary) of Canton; six grandchildren, Kristen McCormick (Luke) of Salina, Stephanie Phetteplace (Mike) of Park City, Cori Huffman (Joel) of Wichita, Jordan Nice (Alena) of Newton, Tyler Boesker of Canton, and Chelsea Craytor (Matt) of Wichita; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia McCormick, Henry McCormick, and Ezekiel Craytor. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Eden Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She worked as a laborer for Key Mills. Rose and her sister Lee, also cleaned chickens for local farmers.&nbsp; She enjoyed gardening in her free time. &nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Charlotte Kidwell; brothers Bill and Charles "Bud" Young; and sister Lenore Hess.

Loren Reed Harvey passed away peacefully at the Bethesda Home in Goessel, Kansas on September 19, 2022 at the age of 88. He was born September 17, 1934 to Reed and Blanche (Coburn) Harvey in rural Mitchell County, Kansas. He was the youngest of two children.

Loren first attended a rural school until the family moved to Beloit and he graduated from high school in 1952. He attended Kansas State for three years before returning to Beloit to work in construction. 

He was drafted into the Army and met Paul Eller, who introduced Loren to his sister, Carolyn. They were married June 14, 1959 and established their home in Beloit.&nbsp;Loren and Carolyn were blessed with two sons, Leroy and Eric. 

Loren worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 ½ years. 

Loren was involved in many activities in Beloit. He coached his sons’ baseball teams in the summer, was a Boy Scout and Cub Scout Leader, which earned him the Silver Beaver Award for his outstanding volunteer efforts in scouting. He enjoyed athletics and attended sporting events, not only for his sons, but his grandchildren too. He was also actively involved in many aspects of church life.

During retirement, Loren enjoyed making wood furniture for his grandchildren, going camping with Carolyn and friends from the Beloit area, fishing, and maintaining his vegetable garden. He continued to work in Scouting locally and at the district level. He annually sold advertising for the Shrine Circus in Salina. 

Loren was very active in many organizations as a member of the First United Methodist Church in Beloit, Mt. Vernon Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, ISIS Shrine Temple, NCK Shrine Club, ISIS Shrine Legion of Honor, the Beloit American Legion Post, and was a member of the "Golden Eagle" at Camp Hansen.

Loren is survived by his son Leroy and wife Winsome; grandchildren Gavin, Collin, and Isabella; sisters-in-law Elaine Eller and Betty Eller; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn; his parents; his brother Willis; and his son Eric.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24 at the Beloit First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. with family present from 4-7 p.m.Friday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home.

Elaine Maxine (Engel) Guimond 93, of White City, Kansas, passed away on September 20, 2022, at the Morris County Hospital. She was born on October 5, 1928, to Louis and Marie (Hickey) Engel on the family farm in rural Herington.

 Elaine attended File Elementary Country school. Later in life she worked as a nurse’s aide at the old Junction City Hospital. 

Elaine married Richard Guimond, Sr. in Whitman, Massachusetts on March 23, 1953. Richard was in the United States Airforce. To this union were born three sons, Richard Jr., Garry, and Mark. 

During her years growing up Elaine helped on the family farm working in the fields and helping with gardening. After returning to White City, she worked at the local grocery store, Vernon Rose Market, and then Perry Moore’s Market until she retired. 

Elaine loved animals of all kinds, she enjoyed the outdoors, visiting with friends, and being with family. 

Elaine’s birth mother passed away and Louis married Margret (Christman) of Topeka who helped raise Elaine and her siblings. Later she gained three brothers and two sisters from that union. 

Elaine was a member of the Parkerville Baptist Church and White City Chapter #421 Order of the Eastern Star of Kansas. 

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard Guimond, Sr. 

Elaine is survived by her three children, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; sons Richard Guimond and wife Pam, Garry Guimond, Mark Guimond and wife Paula; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Joni, Jeffrey, Journey, and Jeremiah Peterson, Chad Guimond, Brooke, Mylin, Bektin, and Huxton, Louis Guimond, Braxton and Landon, Kelsey Bergeron, Micaiah, Kaelynn, MaKinzie, and baby on the way .&nbsp;

A private family graveside service will be held.

She was born on October 5, 1928, to Louis and Marie (Hickey) Engel on the family farm in rural Herington. Elaine attended File Elementary Country school. Later in life she worked as a nurse’s aide at the old Junction City Hospital. Elaine married Richard Guimond, Sr. in Whitman, Massachusetts on March 23, 1953. Richard was in the United States Airforce. To this union were born three sons, Richard Jr., Garry, and Mark. During her years growing up Elaine helped on the family farm working in the fields and helping with gardening. After returning to White City, she worked at the local grocery store, Vernon Rose Market, and then Perry Moore’s Market until she retired. Elaine loved animals of all kinds, she enjoyed the outdoors, visiting with friends, and being with family. Elaine’s birth mother passed away and Louis married Margret (Christman) of Topeka who helped raise Elaine and her siblings. Later she gained three brothers and two sisters from that union. Elaine was a member of the Parkerville Baptist Church and White City Chapter #421 Order of the Eastern Star of Kansas. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Richard Guimond, Sr. Elaine is survived by her three children, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; sons Richard Guimond and wife Pam, Garry Guimond, Mark Guimond and wife Paula; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Joni, Jeffrey, Journey, and Jeremiah Peterson, Chad Guimond, Brooke, Mylin, Bektin, and Huxton, Louis Guimond, Braxton and Landon, Kelsey Bergeron, Micaiah, Kaelynn, MaKinzie, and baby on the way .&nbsp;A private family graveside service will be held. Lorene J. Hammon, age 85, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2022 at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on June 4, 1937, in Marysville, Kansas to Fred and Martha (Schultz) Harries.

She graduated from Marysville High School in the Class of 1955.

Lorene married Charles W. Hammon and they raised three children.

Lorene worked approximately 13 years for Scott Specialties Inc. in Concordia many years ago.&nbsp; She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the 1st&nbsp;United Methodist Church, Concordia.

Lorene enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking for her family and making incredible meals.&nbsp; Most of all she loved spending time with and caring for her family.

She is survived by her three children, daughter Linda Kay Hammon, Concordia, KS; her son Charles Hammon and wife Air, Wichita, KS; her four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Martha, two brothers, Lawrence and Vern Harries, a sister, Shirley Frahm.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2022 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight Whitead officiating.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. &nbsp;Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.

Harlow L. Haney, age 82, of Carlton, Kansas passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Salina Regional Medical Center. Harlow was born August 29, 1940 in Abilene, Kansas the son of Howard and Frances (Mason) Haney.

He graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1958 and attended Kansas State University. 

He married Jane A. Fager on May 17, 1964 in Abilene, Kansas. Harlow farmed his entire life north of Carlton. He was a member of the New Basel Church and had served as a deacon and elder. He was instrumental in starting the Kansas Sheep Association and was the first president. He was also a member of the Hope Young Farmers, served on the Central Kansas Free Fair Board, the Dickinson County RWD #2, Carlton Rural Fire Department, the Wheatland Township Board, the DS&amp;O Electric Cooperative and the Kansas Electric Power Cooperative. He is survived by his loving wife Jane of the home, son Darren of Carlton, daughter Robin (Mike) Sherbert of Morganville, Kansas, grandchildren Colton Haney, Courtney Sherbert, Colby Sherbert, and his sister LaVona Wilson, Plainfield, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Harlow will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2022 at the New Basel Church. His final resting place will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Harlow’s family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home.

He was also a member of the Hope Young Farmers, served on the Central Kansas Free Fair Board, the Dickinson County RWD #2, Carlton Rural Fire Department, the Wheatland Township Board, the DS&amp;O Electric Cooperative and the Kansas Electric Power Cooperative. He is survived by his loving wife Jane of the home, son Darren of Carlton, daughter Robin (Mike) Sherbert of Morganville, Kansas, grandchildren Colton Haney, Courtney Sherbert, Colby Sherbert, and his sister LaVona Wilson, Plainfield, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Harlow will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2022 at the New Basel Church. His final resting place will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Harlow’s family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. &nbsp; Sandra “Sandy” Ann Clasen, age 77 of Solomon, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 peacefully at her home. She was born April 24, 1945 in Watertown, South Dakota, the daughter of Cecil Edward and Evelyn Ann (Lindner) Klucas. 

On February 14, 1989 she married Steven Clasen at the Fairview Presbyterian Church in Riley, KS.

Sandy was always known to lend a hand whenever anyone needed it, even if it was just to babysit. If you knew Sandy, you could almost always find her playing bingo. She always enjoyed sharing her love of bingo with her family and friends. She always enjoyed a good laugh and had quite the imagination, especially when it came to Halloween costumes. The last several years, she became rather crafty in creating her costumes. When she was not crafting, she spent time playing with her dog Lilie.

Sandy is survived by her stepson Hayden Clasen and stepdaughter Stephenie Clasen, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She’s also survived by her near and dear sweet friend Raeann Cordell, three sisters-in-law, Jean Gray, Linda Klucas, and Kaye Klucas, one brother-in-law, Stanley Clasen, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Steven Clasen, her parents, three brothers, James, Edward, and Fredrick Klucas; one sister Barbara Hoftizer, one niece Tina Klucas, and one nephew Doug Hoftizer.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Hall in Solomon, KS. Come and go and be sure to share your stories with family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Verle Dean Zook announce his passing to his eternal home on September 18, 2022. 

Verle was born into the family of Clyde and Mabel (Lenhert) Zook in Abilene, Kansas, a farming community, on July 15, 1944. Verle was raised with three brothers, Lyle (Mollie) Zook, Marlin (Connie) Zook, and Leon (Bette) Zook and two sisters, Lavina (Ron) Garver and Susan (Duane) Schiffbauer.

After attending Dickinson county schools, Verle graduated from Chapman High School in 1962, while continuing to work on the farm with his father, Clyde. They tended to the farm grounds and a variety of farm animals.

Verle married his sweetheart, Katy Stillwagon, on November 16, 1963 at Zion Brethren in Christ Church in Abilene, Kansas. They started their married life with Verle continuing to work with his father on the farm. Verle and Katy went on to California and Verle stayed busy by working as a lineman for General Telephone Company by day and a nearby dairy by night. Verle and Katy returned home to Kansas after a year and he started work for Junction City Telephone.&nbsp;Verle then began his own telephone construction business and partnership with his son, Vernon, in the spring of 1984.

The passion of Verle’s life involved activities with his children and grandchildren, farming, boating at the lake with his family, and napping, after all was complete.

Verle and Katy were blessed with three children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with one to arrive soon. 

Verle is survived by his wife, Katy, of 59 years and his children, Christy (Mitch) Knipp, Vernon (Amanda) Zook, and Teresa (Kelly) Bledsoe as well as their six grandchildren, Jason (Bailey) Ammann, Preston (Whitney) Ammann, Kaitlyn (Joseph) McCutchan, Kaylin Zook, Karter, Zook, and Kaleb Zook, four great-grandchildren, Kolter, Gus, Waylon, Mia, and one on the way, his aunt Lola, and numerous cousins and their spouses.

A memorial service is planned to celebrate Verle at the Zion Brethren in Christ Church at 997 Highway 18 Abilene, Kansas on September 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jay Johnson officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband David Nothern, of the home.
