David B. Hutchinson, 73, of Salina, KS passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Salina Regional Health Center. David was born on February 17, 1949 in Salem, Ohio to the late Wilfred J. Hutchinson and Dorothy C. (Burton) Hutchinson.
David graduated from Salina High School in 1967, and also attended vo-tech in Salina. In 1968, he was united in marriage to Ruth Koelling.
Throughout high school, David worked at filling stations and decommissioned missile silos during the summer. He then worked for Brann's Furniture store. In 1975, he started working at General Battery Corporation/Exide Battery as a shipper, then traffic manager and DC Manager. In 2005, he retired after 30 years with the title of plant manager.
He loved NASCAR races, especially the Daytona 500 and attended many with his close friends. He also enjoyed camping with family and friends and went as often as possible, even late into the season. He could often be found reclined in his camping chair just relaxing and chatting up other campers.
His greatest pride was his family that he dearly loved. He was so happy to be a father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Dorothy Hutchinson, sister Bari, brothers John and Steven.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughters Christine (Kris) Liles, Kellie (Jeff) Schmitt and grandchildren Logan (Kiersten) Schmitt, Ashley Schmitt, all of Salina, Jacob (Morgan Kindlesparger) Liles of Wichita, great-grandchildren Parker and Raya Schmitt of Salina, also, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be January 26 from 4-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. January 27 at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
