John R. Hansen, age 60, entered into rest on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, Kansas. He was born on July 3, 1962 in Concordia, Kansas to Merrill and Charlene (Rich) Hansen.

He was a 1980 graduate of Concordia High School. John served in the US Army Reserve for 20 years until his retirement. He was honorably discharged.

He married Lela in 1981, and they later divorced. He has one daughter, Makita Hansen (Francis) of Clyde, Kansas.

John was a truck driver for Chuck Hittle, hauling milk from the local dairy farmers to processors. He loved that job and spoke warmly of Mr. Hittle and the dairy farmers the rest of his life.

In later years he helped his brothers with construction and driving on their farms and did odd jobs around his community.

He enjoyed all things with motors, and work. He loved work and worked up until December 15 when he could no longer do so.

John is survived by his siblings Charles of Concordia, Mary Holloway and husband Larry of Ozawkie, KS; Charles, David, John, Daniel, Lowell and Michael, all of Concordia, daughter Makita Francis of Clyde, his grandchildren Austin, Marissa and Kadence Francis, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Merrill and Charlene.

He will be missed.

A Celebration of Life Service with gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Concordia Pizza Hut on Saturday, February 4, 2023. Food will be provided by John’s family.
