Don A. Johnson, 87, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center following a sudden illness. A lifelong resident of Saline County, Don was still working on his beloved farm near Kipp just days before his passing. Even in his final days, he remained fiercely independent and left this life on his own terms, surrounded by family.

Don was born on June 13, 1938, on the family farm to Albert and Elsie Johnson. He was the youngest of three brothers and developed a deep connection to the land from a young age. While he fondly remembered milking cows and tending to the family's many chickens as a boy, he never hesitated to remind others that he happily left those particular chores behind in adulthood.

He attended Kipp his entire school life graduating in 1956. Don was very active in extracurricular activities, in particular including music and sports. His love of baseball and basketball continued throughout his life and as he was a passionate fan of the Kansas Jayhawk basketball and Kansas City Royals. In fact, he attended a Royals game as recently as June. He attended Kansas Wesleyan for one year, during which the Dean asked him to room with Hungarian refugee Andrea Toth, who would go on to become a lifelong friend. After his first year at Wesleyan, he decided to return to the farm full-time.

Don met the love of his life, Margie Newman, in high school, and they were married on December 12, 1959. Their partnership spanned 62 years until Margie’s passing, a testament to their devotion through both triumphs and trials.

In earlier years, Don and Margie raised Basset Hounds and were active members of the Salina Kennel Club, where they formed many cherished friendships. Don was a lifelong outdoorsman who loved training coyote hounds and bird dogs, spending countless days hunting quail and pheasant or fishing his favorite spots.

Farming was not just Don’s livelihood; it was his identity. He and Margie weathered the unpredictable nature of farm life, including the destruction of their home by a tornado and hailstorm in 1969. Retirement was never in Don’s vocabulary; he remained committed to the farm and the community that shaped him.

Don’s greatest passion over the past 50 years was his Angus cattle. What began in the early 1980s with his daughter Linda’s interest in showing heifers grew into a respected registered Angus herd known for its strong-producing cows. As the herd expanded, Don built lasting relationships with customers, always prioritizing the success of his animals in their herds over financial gain. A true cattleman, Don believed in calm, respectful handling and took great pride in his integrity, honesty, and commitment to providing the very best bulls to those he served.

Don had a gift for friendship and never lost touch. His phone had over 200 contacts in his phone and though only half are still living, he made a point to call and check in with as many as he could.

Throughout his life, Don was actively involved in a variety of community organizations. He served on the board of the Rural Water District No. 2 and was a volunteer fireman for the Kipp Fire Department. He was also active in the Saline County Conservation District. In 2023, the Kansas Bankers Association honored him with the Water Quality Award. Additionally, he was a member of the Kansas Angus Association. In recent years, he attended services at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

Don lived his whole life for his immediate and extended family. He is survived by his daughters Dr. Dawn Johnson of Houston, Texas, and Linda Egger (Dan) of Columbus, Nebraska. His grandchildren, Caylie Prauner (Payton) of Norfolk, Nebraska, Torie Egger of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Lane Egger of Salina, KS, and great grandchild, Parker Prauner of Norfolk, Nebraska. Don and Margie never thought twice of driving hours to see them showing animals and the best times were when they spent days with Grandma. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Don will be held at Ryan Mortuary on August 6, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

Services for Don will be held at Ryan Mortuary on August 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

A private burial for the family will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

A luncheon for all will be held afterward at the Kipp Volunteer Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kipp Volunteer Fire Department or Mount Pleasant Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Betty Finkbiner, age 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Clay County Medical Center. Born October 21, 1960, Smithville County Hospital, Smithville Missouri, to Chester and Norma (Weers) Hicks. Betty lived a life filled with faith, family and joy.

She married the love of her life, Scott Finkbiner, on September 29, 1979, at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Clifton, Kansas. Together they raised three children — Amber, Ashley, and Brett — across seven states — Kansas, Iowa, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Minnesota, and ultimately back to their roots in Kansas.

Though she later returned to school to proudly earn her GED, Betty’s greatest joy came from her role as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She furthered her education at Marshalltown Community College and built a meaningful career as a Pharmacy Technician, where her dedication touched countless lives. Betty found joy in life’s simple pleasures: cheering for her beloved KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals; tending to her vibrant flower gardens; canning dilly beans; reading her Bible daily; and spending countless hours with her grandchildren. Her home was a place of welcome — especially on the Fourth of July when country music played from the porch and laughter echoed in the yard. She was known for her unforgettable BBQ chicken wings and meatballs, and for t-shirts that proudly displayed her faith or made you laugh. If you visited Betty, you were likely welcomed by the watchful presence of her beloved dogs. Bubba, Bitsy, Bella, and Samson were more than pets—they were faithful guardians and cherished her.

She is survived by her husband, Scott; children Amber (Judd) Sorell of Clifton, Ashley (Kyle) Peters of Linn, and Brett (Kelsey Longpine) Finkbiner of Parker, CO; 11 grandchildren; Gunnar, Kyrah, Presleigh, Ryder, Baileigh, Brooklynn, Breckyn, Haidyn, Gage, Kreux, and Stetson, each of whom brought her immense joy and filled her heart with love, her best friend, Barb (Ray) Knox of Clifton and countless friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Norma Hicks, and her brother Thomas.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 1–8 p.m. at Chaput Mortuary in Clyde, with family receiving friends from 6–7 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Clifton, officiated by Ron Elasser. Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery, Clifton. A luncheon will be held after the service at the American Legion Post #227 in Clifton.

Ruth C. Nunemaker, 94 died on August 1, 2025, at Bethany Home facility in Lindsborg, KS. &nbsp;

She was born in Salina, KS, on October 26th, 1930. &nbsp;She was an assistant nurse for 27 years working at St. John’s Hospital and Asbury Hospital. &nbsp;

Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hayward of Salina, Kansas. &nbsp;She grew up and lived in Salina most of her life. In 1948 she married Ray J. Nunemaker. &nbsp;She is preceded by her parents, husband, Ray J. Nunemaker, son, Eugene “Sam” Nunemaker, son-in-law, Andrew Forcier, and great granddaughter, Amy. &nbsp;

She is survived by her son, Ray Dean (Martie) Nunemaker, daughter, Sally Forcier and daughter-in-law, Diane (Whitesell) Nunemaker. She has 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. All were precious to her. &nbsp;She loved church and God.Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 7, 2025, at the Emmanuel Foursquare Church, 1325 East Cloud St. Salina, KS. Ruth C. Nunemaker

Wanda "Jean" (Cooper) Grand Pre passed away on July 30, 2025, in Salina, KS. She was born on February 28, 1933, in Eads, Colorado to Floyd Harley and Alepha May (Ramsey) Cooper.

She attended a few schools including Little River and Marquette. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1950. She went on to graduate as an RN from Marymount College.

She worked as an RN from 1954 to 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital, Galvin-Haughey Clinic, and Cloud County Health Center.

She married Charles Leonard Grand Pre at our lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on October 2, 1954. To this union, four children were born: Diana, Kelly, Lee, and Leslie.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, The VFW Auxiliary, and the Moose Club Auxiliary. She was passionate about working with Neighbor to Neighbor. In Salina she enjoyed the Fidget Quilters and a wood carvers group. She loved her dogs, cooking, painting, gardening flowers, crocheting, and all types of sewing, including quilting and cross-stitch.

Jean was an avid reader, and she loved to travel – Ireland was a favorite! She was passionate about being a nurse, which was pretty evident since she continued working for over 60 years before she retired. She touched many families over this time span—she loved her patients! Caring for others was her specialty!!

She was so very proud of each of her children, and grandchildren. She loved visiting and hanging out with each and every one of them any time she could!! Her great-grandchildren warmed her heart in such a special way. Her life was complete when she was with her family.

Jean is survived by her children, Diana Grand Pre of Salina, KS, Kelly Kieffer (Paul) of Clyde, KS, Lee Grand Pre of Salina, KS, and Leslie Winkel (David) of Osborne, KS; grandchildren, Kale Kieffer (Janessa), Kole Kieffer (Kasie), Keely Meinecke (Philip), Haley Winkel, and Heath Winkel; great-grandchildren, Bronc Kieffer, Bryleigh Kieffer, Brinley Kieffer, Tragen Kieffer, Truitt Kieffer, Sistine Meinecke, Canon Meinecke ,Trinity Meinecke, Mercy Meinecke, and Rosary Meinecke; numerous nieces and nephews, and bonus children, Diane and Kenny Hartzell, and Mary Ann Garlow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Alepha Cooper, her husband, Charles Grand Pre, her siblings, Marilyn Rush and Bobby Gene Cooper, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Kieffer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, in Concordia, Kansas with Father Joseph Kieffer officiating. Wanda "Jean" (Cooper) Grand Pre

Gary Clifford Burt, 77, of Bennington, Kansas, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on January 27, 1948 in Salina, Kansas, the son of Clifford and Lucille Burt.

Gary graduated from Solomon High School in 1966. He dedicated the last 25 years of his life as the owner operator of Burt’s Pasture Clearing. Cutting trees and putting up hay was his passion. He served his community with pride and commitment as a member of the Bennington Lions Club and volunteer at the Bennington Rodeo. Gary will be remembered for his profound love for his family and friends, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

As a truly creative individual and a natural problem-solver, Gary was determined to fix things, often finding unique solutions to any challenge. He had a wide circle of friends in the Salina area. His passions included his family, work, animals, especially his beloved dogs, playing cards, hunting and fishing, and the Bennington Rodeo.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Pat Burt; his sons, Kevin Burt (LoAnn Burt) of Dallas, Texas, and Matt Burt (Susan Burt) of Salina, Kansas; his stepson, D. Travis Crickenberger (Lisa Crickenberger) of Annabella, Utah; his brothers, Don Burt of Merkel, Texas, and Kenny Burt of Salina, Kansas; and his two cherished grandchildren, Harper Burt and Jack Burt. Gary's presence will be profoundly missed, but the lessons he taught and the love he shared will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sister Barb Spears; brother Jack Burt: Mother-in-law, Dora Mae Graham.

He was born on January 27, 1948 in Salina, Kansas, the son of Clifford and Lucille Burt.Gary graduated from Solomon High School in 1966. He dedicated the last 25 years of his life as the owner operator of Burt’s Pasture Clearing. Cutting trees and putting up hay was his passion. He served his community with pride and commitment as a member of the Bennington Lions Club and volunteer at the Bennington Rodeo. Gary will be remembered for his profound love for his family and friends, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.As a truly creative individual and a natural problem-solver, Gary was determined to fix things, often finding unique solutions to any challenge. He had a wide circle of friends in the Salina area. His passions included his family, work, animals, especially his beloved dogs, playing cards, hunting and fishing, and the Bennington Rodeo.He is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Pat Burt; his sons, Kevin Burt (LoAnn Burt) of Dallas, Texas, and Matt Burt (Susan Burt) of Salina, Kansas; his stepson, D. Edna Faye Baldwin, 93, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on July 29, 2025 at Dignity Care Home, her last days surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 21, 1931, in Topeka, Kansas, and raised in Alma, Kansas often spending time on her family’s farm. The fourth child from a family of eleven, Edna was the daughter of John and Eleanor (Tenbrink) Schwalm. Edna earned her nursing degree from St. Francis in Topeka, Kansas, and began working as a nurse in Kansas City, Kansas.

She soon met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Baldwin. They were married on October 19, 1956, in Alma, Kansas, and were blessed with 51 years together before Bob preceded her in death. Their reunion in Heaven brings great comfort to the family who loved them both dearly.

Edna was equal parts fierce and faithful. She dedicated over six decades to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She led her family with resilient strength, humor, and an unshakable devotion to Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her three children: Laurie (Mike) Cooper, Sandy Hickey, Randy (Brandy) Baldwin; her grandchildren: Paul (Amber) Cooper, Eric (Monica) Cooper, Bryan Cooper, Keith (Clarissa) Cooper, Brett (Michelle) Cooper, Jarah (Luke) Byron, Seth Cooper, Michael Hickey, Matthew Hickey, Samantha (Brett) Sarine, and Amaya Baldwin; and her many great-grandchildren: Ella, Brooks, Faith, Joy, Payten, Ivy, Adeline, Benjamin, Aiden, Jaxon, Lilly, Elijah, Isaac, Hazel, Duke, Amelie, and Jack.

Edna’s daily routine revolved around her time with the Lord by reading her Bible and saying her prayers. Edna served as President of the Women’s Aglow organization, regularly attended women’s prayer groups, and was an active member of her church community. Her passion for ministry led her on mission trips to Thailand and Israel—twice each—spreading the Gospel with boldness and grace.

As the beloved matriarch of her family, she was always available to listen, to pray, and to encourage others with countless memorized scriptures. She loved baking her famous apple pie, soaking in the sunshine beside her tomato plants, and never missed an opportunity to be present for her family. She had a sharp sense of humor, a ready comeback, and a firm belief in calling things as she saw them—but always with love. Her loyalty was unfaltering, her prayers unceasing, and her presence a steady anchor in the lives of all who knew her.

Edna’s home was a place of warmth, prayer, and peace. Her door was always open, and her heart was always full. Through her words and her actions, she spread the truth of God’s love and the salvation found through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Her life was a testimony, and her legacy will continue in the lives of those she touched. Well done, good and faithful servant. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Visitation will be Monday, August 4, 2025 from 9:00 AM until service time at 10:30 AM both in the Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, Salina. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina.

Coleen Mary Pihl, age 88, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, in Salina, KS, with her devoted husband by her side.

Coleen was born on September 4, 1936, in Salina, KS, to Lynn Drake and Wilma Drake (Price). Her early years were spent in Natoma, where her father ran a clothing store. The family later moved to Phillipsburg and then back to Salina, where her father established his own accounting business.

Coleen attended Whittier Elementary and Roosevelt Junior High, where she played the clarinet, sang in the chorus, and played piano for Girls Reserve meetings. At Salina Central High School, she was active in theatre and particularly enjoyed her accounting class. During her senior year, she suffered the loss of her father. After graduating, she began working at his accounting firm and helping her mother care for the family.

She later met and fell in love with LeRoy Pihl, and they married on September 20, 1958, at First United Methodist Church in Salina. Their early married life took them from Smolan to a duplex in Assaria, before settling into their farmhouse home on Falun Road on January 1, 1960, where they would spend over 60 years together.

Coleen embraced life as a farmer’s wife and mother of three with grace and joy. She was a faithful and active member of Salemsborg Lutheran Church, participating in Golden Links (a young couple’s group), WELCA, sewing club, bible study groups, and more. Always generous with her time, she was also involved in PTA, 4-H, and a local Pinochle club.

Gardening was one of Coleen’s greatest passions. She was an active member of several gardening and craft groups, including the Master Gardeners, The Gatherers, and a community wellness group called Walk Kansas. Her flower gardens were a reflection of her generous spirit, vibrant, welcoming, and loving, shared with everyone around her.

Coleen loved to travel, whether camping in Colorado, taking an ocean cruise, boarding a tour bus with friends to an unknown destination, trying her luck in Las Vegas, or making her annual fun-loving trips with her youngest sister to visit their sister in Miami, she was always eager for the next adventure. She loved Frank Sinatra’s music and classic films, especially Casablanca.

Above all, Colleen’s true joy was her family. Her home was a place of warmth and celebration, beautifully decorated for holidays, birthdays, backyard BBQs, and the beloved annual Christmas cookie decorating tradition. “Waffle Wednesdays” with her great-grandchildren became a very special weekly highlight. She and LeRoy rarely missed family events, whether dance recitals, graduations, or sporting events. Colleen’s happiest moments were spent with loved ones gathered around the table or watching children play in the yard.

Coleen is survived by her loving husband of nearly 67 years, LeRoy Pihl; her sisters, Deanna Diesmone and Sherri Johnson; her brother, Ron Drake; her children, Barbara Geiger (John), Mike Pihl (Teresa), and Deborah Torneden (Fred). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Eric, Christy, Stephen, Michelle, Ashley, Kyle, and Myles; and great-grandchildren: Kira, Gemma, Freya, Bristol, Everett, Dean, Blair, Jace, Ada, and Wren.

Coleen will be remembered as a devoted servant of God, a steadfast wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a friend to all. Her life was marked by caring, compassion, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2025, at Salemsborg Lutheran Church, 3831 W Salemsborg Rd, Smolan, KS.

Larry was born January 6, 1955, in Salina.Larry was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in 1972 and then Kansas City Institute of Technology. Larry was an employee of St. John’s Hospital and Salina Regional Health Center for 25 Years. He also worked for Varian Medical Systems for 17 years before retiring in 2019.

Larry was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, where he was active for 58 years. His Catholic Faith was the basis of everything in his life.Larry loved sports especially the Sacred Heart Knights, Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs. Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He was an Eagle Scout and thoroughly enjoyed time at the Ranch and on the water at Beaver Lake in Arkansas.

He taught many of his siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the love of the outdoors through fishing and hunting. He was the most selfless person, and never knew a stranger. He was always quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.

Larry is survived by his step-son, Leslie Worley, of Salina; brother, John Nelson, of Salina; sisters, Cindy (Jeff) Giacoletto, Susan Rogers and Sheri (Raul) Hoffman, all of Salina, Teresa Follmer, of Denver, Colorado, and Mary Kay (Bob) Camarena, of Overland Park, Kansas.

Larry is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Jaime Schoenig, her children and grandchild, who loved Larry as a father and grandfather.Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Jane Nelson; brother Gary, nephew,Christopher Camarena, sister-in-law Teresa Kaye Nelson and great-nephew Kenny Nelson, Jr.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday August 5. Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:00 PM with a rosary service at 6:00 PM at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will at 10:00 AM Wednesday August 6 at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Donald Steven Greene, 70, Salina, passed away on July 30, 2025. Don was born in Salina, KS, on October 2, 1954, to Donald John and Pauline (Gunter) Greene.

Don graduated from Salina South in 1972. After high school, he worked as a truck driver, pipefitter, and plumber. In 2004, Don started at CKF Addiction Treatment, where he found his passion. He believed deeply in recovery and in people. Through his dedication, Don became the Director of Pathfinder Services. Don helped many with his support, guidance, and experience on their road to recovery. February 1, 2003, Don married Heather at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, KS. Don loved his family, pups, and friends.

Donald Steven Greene

Elaine Marie Charbonneau (née Fraley, formerly Hayse) of Wichita, Kansas, exited this world on July 28, 2025, at age 76. She went out the same way she lived—stubbornly, unexpectedly, and on her own terms.

Born in Chester, Nebraska to Lloyd and Alta Fraley, Elaine attended Chester High School and later earned her GED before pursuing nursing. She launched her career at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, Kansas while raising her two children, and went on to become a deeply respected RN. Her career spanned decades: she delivered babies at St. Joseph Maternity in Wichita and Salina Regional, helped launch Wesley BirthCare Center as one of its original nurses, and provided the kind of soulful, end-of-life care that only someone like Elaine could offer. She was also a founding member of “The Mermaids,” a close-knit crew of nurses and mischief-makers who made beautiful chaos together.

Elaine didn’t just live life—she flung herself into it like a thrift store haul she couldn’t resist. She played a ruthless game of Pitch, could hold her own in Cards Against Humanity, and was known to show up with a crockpot of her famous baked beans or a jar of homemade salsa that could double as currency. She crocheted, canned, gardened, doted on her miniature schnauzers (all four of them), and had a borderline religious devotion to estate sales, garage clean-outs, and auction-day adrenaline.

She is survived by her husband, Tyrone Charbonneau of Wichita; daughter Connie Christopherson and husband Roth of Wichita; son William Hayse and wife Alicia of Haysville; her beloved grandchildren: Corinne Winkworth (Ted, Henry), Cory Barnes (Jennifer, Mia), Aaron Barnes (Melina), Rachel Barnes, Carly Peters (family friend turned family), Codey Christopherson, Kelsey, Benton, and Mary Hayse; her sister Barbara Ghan and husband Junior of Winfield; sister-in-law Lois Fraley of Superior, NE; and many cherished nieces, nephews, honorary family members, and auctioneers who will never forget her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Alta; her sisters Claribel Mumm (Willis) and Alethea Greenfield (widow of Dave Newell and Glenn Greenfield); and her brother Duane Fraley.

Elaine Marie Charbonneau

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Michael Lynn Ruddle, age 76 of Galva, KS on July 29th, 2025, surrounded by family at Salina Regional Hospital.&nbsp; Michael was born on April 29, 1949, in Fulton, KY and was full of life from the start.&nbsp; If you knew him, you knew where you stood in his life.&nbsp; He had a strong commitment to and immense love for his family.&nbsp; From a very young age, he was an avid outdoorsman with an immense passion for hunting upland game birds, fishing, spending time with his dogs, and playing cards with his closest friends.&nbsp; You could always find him in the mornings at 56 Family restaurant in Galva; having breakfast with friends over a pitcher of iced tea, discussing and solving the world’s problems.

Michael was a proud member of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War in 1969 and 1970.&nbsp; He worked in several manufacturing industries retiring from CertainTeed as a Leadman in the Blend Plant after 23 years of service.

He made us laugh with witty sarcasm and humor.&nbsp; He had a strong outer shell, but inside had such a soft heart, especially for his family, friends, and dogs.

During sporting events, he positioned himself strategically close to the refs or umpires at all his kids and grandkids games to ensure they heard him.&nbsp; He would tell them exactly how he felt about the plays.&nbsp; The entire crowd could hear his strong, deep voice when he didn’t think a call went right.&nbsp; He also wore bright neon shirts to ensure his grandkids and everyone could see him.

He was predeceased by his mother, Wanda Kimble-Jackson, father, Bobby Ruddle, and brother, Robert “Tony” Ruddle.

Michael is survived by his wife, Carol Ruddle of 38 years of Galva, KS; daughters, Amy Ruddle of Galva, KS and Shellye Diamond of Louisville, KY; and sons, Michael (and wife Adrienne) Ruddle of McPherson, KS and Scott (and wife Tyne) Plauche of Joplin, MO.

His loving grandchildren include Hannah (and husband Hunter) Pearson, Emma Ruddle, Gus Ruddle, Clay Wilson, Payton Wilson, Brinley Boyes, Blakely Boyes, Ryan Smith, and Sarah Smith. He is also survived by his sister, Myra (and husband Bobby) Mann, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on August 23rd, 2025.&nbsp; Details will be sent to friends and family on the location and time in the following days.

Michael Lynn Ruddle

Julie Ann (Budreau) Snavely, age 53, entered into rest on Friday, July 25, 2025, at her home in Concordia, Kansas. Julie was born on September 12, 1971, in Belleville, Kansas, to Eldon Lee and Eva Jean (Deneault) Budreau.

She graduated from Concordia High School in 1990, where she met the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Linden Snavely. They were married on October 5, 1991. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and deep devotion to family.

Julie was a devoted stay-at-home mom, a role she cherished most. She also wore many hats throughout her life. She worked as a Lifeline consultant and installer, a receptionist at Family Eye Care, and as a virtual assistant for Therapy Practice Solution. Her heart, however, was truly invested in her work with NCK CASA and Hope’s Place, where she dedicated herself to supporting children in need—a calling that reflected her compassionate and selfless spirit.

Julie found joy in the simple things: decorating for the holidays (especially Halloween and Christmas), spending time with her grandkids, going to the movies—never without popcorn—floral landscaping, planning family trips, and shopping for others more than for herself. Her kindness, creativity, and unwavering generosity touched everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Linden Snavely, of nearly 34 years; her son, Tyler Snavely (Kylie) and their children Falyn, Evelyn, and Slade; her daughter, Kora Rundus (Paul), all of Concordia; her mother, Eva Budreau; siblings Sam Budreau (Donna), Janice Havel (Craig), Ben Budreau (Julie), Kip Budreau (Tammy), Jill Orth (Mark), Nick Budreau (Janet), Jodee Swank (Stan), Mark Budreau (Trish), and Russ Budreau (Mia); her mother-in-law Janet Snavely; sisters-in-law Lisa Widen (Jeff) and Chasta Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

William Varnadore, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Salina Regional Health Center, in Salina, KS at the age of 73. He was born on November 11, 1951, in Blackstock, South Carolina. William’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love and passion for the simple joys of life.

William was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ella Estes, his widowed wife, Geanne Johannes, and his dear daughter, Bobbie G. Varnadore.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathy Varnadore of Salina, KS, who has been his steadfast companion for the past 15 years, their children Nathan and Kelly Varnadore of Bennington, KS, Johnny and Cora Varnadore of Salina, KS and Michelle Tomes of Wichita, KS and Amanda Ratliff of North Carolina, and his sister Sissy Walters Vinson.

William took immense pride in his role as a grandfather leaving behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Logan (Kendra), Alexis (Victor), Karli (Jacob), Zach, Tori (Dustin), Jacob, Blake, McKayla (James), Travis (Laurel), Glorianna, Tre and Lenora, Jessica McBride, Brianna McBride, Brooklyn Varnadore and Kayden Varnadore. His heart also expanded to his great-grandchildren, including Manny, Cambria, Elena, Maddox, Kohen, Malakai, Connor, Olivia, Mickenzie, Aiden, Wyatt, Asher, Anthony Oddra and Annalize McBride.

A proud veteran, William served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the national defense service medal, the Vietnam service medal and the Vietnam Campaign medal for his dedicated service to his country. His commitment to duty and his strong sense of responsibility instilled values in his family that will be carried over for generations.

William had a zest for life that was infectious. He found joy in spending time with friends and his wife Kathy at the lake, including camping, fishing and taking the boat out with his best friend Carl creating lasting memories filled with laughter and camaraderie. His love for nature and the outdoors was matched only by the love of his pets Nitro, Fluffy, Boots, and Misty, who brought him much happiness throughout his life.

The family invites friends and loved ones to gather at Ryan Mortuary on July 25, 2025, at 10 a.m. to celebrate William’s remarkable life and the indelible mark he left on all who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in honor of William’s memory.

William Varnadore’s spirit will forever remain in the hearts of this family and friends, a testament to a life lived with love, laughter and unyielding strength. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Michael Wayne Huiett, 59, of Salina, passed away on July 23, 2025.

Mike was born on October 17, 1965, to Frank and Colene (Smith) Huiett.

He was a dedicated FedEx Freight driver for many years.

Mike loved riding his Harley with friends and going to rallies. He was a hard worker and always willing to help others. Mike was a private man who didn’t ask much of others, but all the family and friends that knew him were blessed to have been included in his circle of life. He was loved and will be missed greatly.

“Mr. Mikey,” as he was affectionately known, is survived by his son, Christopher of Salina; sisters, Marlene Baker of Salina, Sheryl Huiett of Salina, Mary Suwarno (Dedi) of Naperville, IL; uncles, Paul (Marilyn) Smith of Minneapolis ,Kenneth Smith of Delphos , John (Brenda) Huiett and Paul (Annette) Huiett, both of Salina; his "brother in arms," Carl Kidd; grandchildren Christian, Kaden, and Alex; nephews Shawn Baker of Minneapolis, Lee Baker of Salina, and Brandon Sears of Salina; nieces Valerie (Jason) Stuart of Salina; great-nieces, Jesslyn Rodriguez of Hastings, NE and Nevaeh Sears of Salina; great nephew, Nicholas Stuart of Salina and many cousins and friends.

Cremation has been chosen, and a graveside inurnment will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16th at Highland Cemetery, located on K-106 Hwy in Minneapolis, KS.

Michael Wayne Huiett

Patricia Julia Geske, born August 5th, 1937, in Colorado, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 15th in Salina, Kansas, at the age of 87.

Patricia spent most of her life in Salina, where she built a home and family. Notably, Patty was a 50 year member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority where she built countless friendships. She worked for many years at the Saline County Treasurer office and was well known in the community for selling Avon.

Patricia’s greatest gift was her kindness. She could strike up a conversation with anyone she met and, remarkably, never forgot a name or face. Her warmth and genuine interest in others left an impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter Terrie Geske, her son Greg Geske, her grandchildren; Kyla, Joe, and Kelli, as well as great-grandchildren. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Dean Geske, whom she now joins in rest.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on August 9th at Roselawn. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Glenn E. Baugh, 78, Bennington, died Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at his home. He was born November 22, 1946, near Bennington, to Max D. and Avis K. (Constable) Baugh.

        Glenn was a graduate of Bennington High School, and he served in the United States Navy for three years. After 19 years at Raytheon, he retired and worked for Metro Courier for 10 years. Glenn was an avid outdoorsman and an excellent carpenter. He and Deanna Buehler were united in marriage on June 10, 1989.

        He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lori; grandson, Jason Cross; and brother, Lynn.

        Survivors are his wife, Dee; children, Shannon Bergman and husband, Dan, Garth Baugh and wife, Mary, and Caleb Baugh and wife, Amy; step-sons, Michael Taylor and wife, Gemma and David Taylor; brothers, Scott Baugh and wife, Redonda and Greg Baugh and wife, Judy; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
