Roger LeRoy Borgmann, fourth child of Fred and Anna (Hermanns) Borgmann was born on Easter Monday, April 6, 1931, at the family farm southwest of Athol, Kansas. Roger passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Smith County Memorial Hospital at the age of 94.

Roger was baptized on April 26, 1931, at the St. John Lutheran Church, Athol, where he was also confirmed on May 20, 1945. He attended grade school at Silver Ridge School, located half mile south of the family’s farm and graduated from Smith Center High School in 1948.

After high school he became involved with the family’s farming operation. In May of 1951, at a cousin’s wedding (LaVoe Hermanns Zabel) he was introduced to his future wife, Stella Rahjes, and it was “love at first sight”. In September 1951, he was inducted into the Marine Corps where he served for two years. On June 11, 1954, he and Stella were married at the St. John Lutheran Church in Kensington, KS.

Three daughters were born to this union, twins, Linda and Lucinda on June 22, 1955, and Rhonda, June 3, 1956.

They lived on two rented farms, one, south and east of Kensington and the other, two miles south and one half east of the St. John Lutheran Church, Athol. Then in 1963, they purchased the farm one fourth mile east of the church from their Uncle Lawrence Borgmann. They were the third generation of Borgmanns to live on that farm. In 1996 they sold the farm and moved to Smith Center to retire after 42 years of farming. Thirty-seven of those years were in the dairy business. Roger enjoyed farming and working with livestock and the work responsibilities were shared with his wife, Stella.

Roger was a lifelong active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Athol and served on Church Council for 3 terms, was Sunday School Superintendent for 2 terms, sang in the Men’s Choir for many years and was Sexton.

He served on the Athol Co-op board and the Smith County Rural Water District board. After retiring from the dairy business, he helped Lee Oliver with his Auction Business, a relationship that turned into one of very good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Stella, an infant brother Milford, sister Lois and brother-in-law Don Keller, brother Orville and sister-in-law Beverly and son-in-law Henry Ring.

Roger is survived by daughters, Linda Peterson (Dennis) of Salina, KS, Lucinda Ring (Tim) of Augusta, KS and Rhonda Wright ( Jon) of Lincoln, KS; grandkids Travis (Jayme) Peterson, Leslie Ring, Andrea Ring, Brian Ring (Jessie), Jonna Wright (Cody), Katie Graham (Nathaniel); great grandchildren Tanner &amp; Tucker Peterson, Kiara, Tyrice, Sier Ring, Nash, Colt &amp; Kace Ring, Tayten &amp; Paislee Graham; great-great grandson Marcel Ring and adopted son Lee Oliver.

Roger was a very good man, a very good dad! He always thought of the other person first. He helped people in many ways, sending them cards, visiting people, making phone calls and giving rides to church.

Mary Ellen Spidell, 80, of Solomon, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

Born in Conway, Iowa, on October 30, 1944, to Edrie Arlene (McCreary) and Frank Mackillen Gardner.

Mary’s compassionate spirit led her to work in various caregiving roles throughout her life, including in the nursery, as a hairstylist, and in the kitchen at St. Francis Boys Home. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her work, as she poured her heart into her hobbies and time with loved ones.

She found joy in sewing, swing dancing, and line dancing, and spent many years creating beautiful ceramics for her family. Her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Lisa Holliman (David) of Solomon, Kansas; Hiedie Hurde (Donald) of Salina, Kansas; Julie Hogue (Kevin) of Solomon, Kansas; a sister, Joann Pryor (David) of Mt. Washington, Kentucky; brothers, Keith Gardner (Kathy) of Camdenton, Missouri, and Ronald Gardner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 

She is also survived by grandchildren, Andrew and Angelica Moyer, Geoffrey Holliman, Ashley Hurde, Tiffany and Skyler Klein, Alyssa Hurde, Michael and Bailee Holliman, Alexandra and Shaun Myers, Brandon Hogue, Jordan Hurde, Darlene Moyer, Kaylene Allen, and Kara Allen; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lorie Morgan; grandson, Dustin Moyer; great-grandson, Tyreeke Hurde; and sisters, Norma Chase, Donna Vittoe, Linda Miller, and Francis Gardner.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 4th at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina, Kansas.

Sandra “Sandi” Kay Smith, 46, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, surrounded by family at Kenwood View Health &amp; Rehabilitation Center in Salina, KS.

She was born August 17, 1978, in Wichita, KS, the daughter of Ronald Ivan and Joyce Almina (Ring) Osterloh.&nbsp; Sandi grew up and attended school in Rose Hill, KS.&nbsp; She also completed several online courses in criminal investigation.

Sandi worked as a direct care staff member at MCDS and Disability Supports.&nbsp; She also worked at several fast food restaurants and convenience stores.

Sandi was born with an unbreakable spirit.&nbsp; She had a bright, fiery, and stubborn personality with a playful heart and was fiercely devoted to her family.&nbsp; Her life was defined by things she loved: her children, grandchildren, and the simple joy of coloring in every spare moment, especially with gel pens.&nbsp; She collected dolphin themed items, and nothing made her smile wider than receiving a big pack of colorful gel pens or a trinket adorned with her beloved dolphins.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include three children, Mikaylla Sutton (Griffin) of Edmond, OK, Deveana Smith of McPherson, KS, and Tristan Smith of McPherson, KS; mother, Joyce Rouse (Leonard) of McPherson, KS; sister, Suzy Dishmon (Climyel) of McPherson, KS; brothers, Randy Osterloh (Lacey) of Cortez, CO and James Canada of Hutchinson, KS; grandsons, Damien &amp; Wyatt; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Osterloh.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM (noon) on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.&nbsp; A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Colorado.

Robert “Bobby” Marvin Yoder, Jr., 57, formerly of McPherson, KS, passed away May 15, 2025, in Sedona, AZ.&nbsp; Bobby was born August 28, 1967, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Robert Yoder, Sr. and Janice (Taylor) Bean.

Bobby loved his family, friends, music, singing, drawing, painting, going to the movies, and shopping.&nbsp; He was a collector of many things: coins, eyeglasses, hats, and shoes just to name a few.

He worked at Central Plastics until he set out on his journey to see the world.&nbsp; He was so happy being in Sedona.&nbsp; He said it was the most beautiful place.&nbsp; He spent his time hiking and enjoying nature and the scenery of the mountains.

Survivors include his mother, Janice Bean of Inman, KS; stepmother, Doris Yoder of Fort Worth, TX; sisters, Tonya (Jerry) Coy of McPherson, KS, Laree (Rickey) Tingen of McPherson, KS, Loretta Schroeder of Great Bend, KS; and Gabe (Scott) Ravenstien of Great Bend, KS; brothers, Jeff (Nene) DeBusk of Topeka, KS and Troy Sullivan of Fort Worth, TX; lots of nieces and nephews and many friends.&nbsp; Bobby is loved and missed so very much.

Robert Marvin Yoder

Charles (Chuck) Raymond Stein, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 29, 2025. He was born in Ashland, KS on December 1, 1938, to Benedict A. &amp; Fredeline F. (LaBarge) Stein.

He moved with his family to Minneapolis in 1940. He graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1956. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy, serving 27 months overseas. After returning home, he went back to his high school job washing cars for Handy Motor Company. He was promoted to a car salesman on April 1, 1960.

He was united in marriage to Radonna Pitts on July 8, 1961. In 1964, he took a job with Kansas Truck Equipment as a traveling salesman until August 1965. At that time, he purchased 50% of Handy Motor Company making him the youngest General Motors dealer in the country that was not in a family-owned dealership. He managed Handy-Stein Chevrolet-Olds-Buick from 1965 to 1970, purchasing the remaining 50% of the dealership in 1970. He managed Chuck Stein Chevrolet, Oldsmobile &amp; Buick, Inc. until 1985 when he sold the dealership &amp; “semi” retired.

During his time in Minneapolis, he served on the City Council, served as Mayor as well as being Vice President of the Kansas Motor Car Dealerships Association and numerous other positions with various new car organizations.

They moved to Salina, KS, in 1983 and spent several years owning &amp; managing Hertz Rent-A-Car locations across the state. He &amp; Radonna also owned &amp; managed C &amp; R Monogramming where Radonna sewed &amp; he sold her finished products. Chuck returned to his true love of selling cars in 1995. He sold for Holm Automotive from 1995 to 2001, returned to Minneapolis to manage Bennett Auto Plex until 2009, when he returned to Holm Automotive selling cars until right before his death.

Chuck not only loved his family well, but he loved his many customers. He loved everything about cars, from selling them, to owning them &amp; admiring them from afar. He also loved the University of Kansas &amp; the Kansas Jayhawks where he donated a car to the athletic department for 55 years.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brother James B. Stein (Patricia); in-laws, Herschel &amp; Ethel Pitts; Gwen Pitts, Dick Pitts (Judy), Jerry Pitts; &amp; great granddaughter, Reagan Blake Carbajo.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Radonna; children, Elizabeth (Beth) Kindall (Brent) of Minneapolis, KS, Julie Reed (Kevin) of Wichita, KS, and David Stein (Robin) of Overland Park, KS;  grandchildren,  Caleb Kindall, Abilene, KS, Abby Sills (Tre), Loveland, CO, Kendall Reed (Ashton), Dallas, TX, Maddie Schuchardt (Carter), Fayetteville, AR, Paige Carbajo (Andy), Overland Park, KS, Kaitlin Stein (soon to be Christian), all over the country &amp; Grace Fischer (Matt), Overland Park, KS; and great grandchildren: Scottie Joy Fischer &amp; Eden Jane Sills with the first boy to arrive soon!

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, June 6 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467. Graveside services will be at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, June 7 at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. 

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., at the Salina First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio, Salina, KS 67401. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salina First Church of the Nazarene and be left in care of the funeral home.

Alice Nelson Decker was born July 12, 1931, at McPherson Kansas, the daughter of Walter and Jennie Nelson and died May 31, 2025, at the age of 93. She graduated from Galva High School and worked as a bookkeeper at banks in McPherson, Lawrence, and Kansas City. She married Donald Decker on June 1, 1952, and subsequently lived in Lawrence, Kansas City, and Wichita, Kansas, Pensacola and Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and Prairie Village, Kansas before settling in Halstead, Kansas. She was known for her beautiful smile and pleasant disposition. She was a gifted entertainer of family and friends in her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Walter Jr. and Paul Nelson. She is survived by husband Dr. Donald, son Terence, daughter Jennifer, and sister Trisha Crouse.

A private graveside service will be at Empire Cemetery, rural Galva, Kansas.

Eleanor Marie Dunshie, age 92, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at her home in Concordia, Kansas surrounded by her family.

Eleanor was born on August 25, 1932 in Shinglehouse, PA to Chester “Chet” &amp; Nellie (Buchanan) Lunn.

Eleanor married Frederic Lee Dunshie in Shinglehouse, PA on January 11, 1953. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2020.

She graduated from Shinglehouse High School in 1951.

Eleanor was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother, who moved from Wellsville, NY to Marion, NC, Concordia, KS and Abilene, KS while supporting Fred’s work with Air Preheater &amp; Combustion Engineering.

In retirement, they moved to Lawrence, Kansas for 2 years and then returned to Concordia, to be closer to family. &nbsp;She loved watching and caring for her many grandchildren.

Eleanor was most happy keeping house, cooking, cleaning, baking cookies (sugar cookies)! She was always ready for friends and family to visit and was a life example for us all.

She was a former member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Concordia, Kansas where she served on the Altar Guild. &nbsp;She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and lifetime Girl Scout Leader.

Ronnie Lucille Gordon of Moundridge, KS passed away May 30, 2025, Ronnie was born June 19, 1948 in Springfield Tennessee the daughter of Clarence and Azalee (Woodard) Perry. Ronnie spent most of her adult life in the Salina and McPherson areas. Ronnie worked as a CNA at various facilities.

Ronnie was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sons Jackie Perry and Timothy Johnson. She is survived by her son Terry Johnson, daughter Evelyn Scott (Jasper), Theresa Swift (David) Son Derrick Gordon (Shawna) as well as 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Ronnie’s family brought her great joy and her favorite hobby was playing bingo, having experienced great success playing.

A graveside service for Ronnie will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday June 3rd at the Fairview Cemetery 647 1000 ave Carlton, KS with pastor Stan Norman officiating.

Ronnie Lucille Gordon

Frances Ellen Lare was born in Ukiah, California on October 11, 1947, to Edwin and Norma Hosheit.&nbsp; Fran grew up in the Redwood Valley, where she found peace among the towering trees, hunting and camping alongside her father. Though she moved to Kansas in her freshman year of high school, the spirit of the Redwoods remained in her heart, as did the memories of visiting Fort Bragg, where her father had been stationed, and the ocean she adored. Her adventurous spirit led her and Gary to explore 47 states and three different countries, embracing the beauty and diversity of the world.&nbsp; Gary and Fran could often be found driving across the country to visit family and friends.

After Kansas became home, she met Gary, and in 1967, they married, soon settling in McPherson, where they built a life together for 58 years. Fran loved her work, spending 48 years preparing taxes at H&amp;R Block, 44 of those as owner of the business. She loved helping others, forming lasting friendships and serving her community with dedication and care.

Fran had a way of making things happen, never afraid to commit to something she believed in. She inspired Gary’s involvement in Boy Scouts with a simple statement: “By the way, you're a Webelo leader now.” Her determination was evident in every aspect of her life, including the hand-dug swimming pool the family built when the kids were in elementary school, just one of the many ways she created lasting memories for those she loved.

Family was her greatest joy. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always in her thoughts, and her love extended to an ever-growing number of nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in her heart.

Fran peacefully passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 77. As we say goodbye, we hold on to the love and laughter Fran shared with us. Her spirit lives on in the cherished memories she leaves behind, and the many lives she touched along the way.&nbsp; Fran’s life was a testament to love, adventure, and determination; qualities that made her truly unforgettable.

She is survived by her husband Gary; children Tracy, Cory (Heather), and Kelly (Brandi); granddaughters Mikayla, Emma, Macey, and Maci; grandsons Kolton, Camryn, Jett, and Rhys; great-grandsons Liam, Waylon, and Weston; and sister Patty (Gary). &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her father Edwin, mother Norma, brother Eddie, nephew Brandon, and great-nephew Gage.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Michael R. Chaput, 66, of Salina, KS, went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Mike was born on March 28, 1959, in Salina, KS, to Dean and Gladys (Blackwell) Chaput. He grew up in a faith-filled family where he learned the value of a strong work ethic, compassion, and love.

He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School with the Class of 1977. Mike had a talent for fixing anything—everyone called him for advice on “this or that.” He took great pride in his home and yard; for him, it wasn’t work but a hobby. Mike was also known as “Santa Mike,” one of the original Georgetown Santas.

Mike’s greatest pride and achievement in life was his family.

He was a 32-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service, where he forged many lifelong friendships with his postal patrons. After retirement, he took a part-time job with USD 305 as a food service driver. He loved the job but was forced to leave due to health reasons.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kerry (Veltman) Chaput. He left a legacy of strength and compassion with his sons, Chad (Sara) and Matt (Kristen), and his spirit will live on through his grandchildren: Bria, Emma, Ella, and Easton. He is also survived by his in-laws, Ken and Jody Veltman; and siblings, Dennis (Sharon), Tom (Dorothy), Ken (Becky), Susie Adams (Dave), and Mark (Kathy).

Mike was a cherished husband, dad, Papa, brother, son-in-law, and friend.

Mike’s memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 3, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, with burial following at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.&nbsp;

Joseph Phillip Alford ‘Big Joe’ passed away unexpectedly March 20,2025. Joe was born August 29, 1959 to Joseph and Margaret (Poague).

Joe is preceded in death by his parents. Joe attended and&nbsp; graduated from Central High School. Joe enjoyed cooking , cheering on Pittsburgh Steelers , Kansas City Jayhawks and would carry on a conversation about any sports team ! Big Joe always had a helping hand out for anyone! Joe helped with care of his father and mother at there home. 

Joe has many family and friends that will miss him dearly !! Joe worked at Saline County Expo Center before retiring. Joe is survived by a son Phillip Soto, Sisters Tammy Freilinger, Cindy (Jeff ) Swanson, Dennis (Anntonnette) Winters also his nieces and nephews and family.

Joseph Phillip Alford

Lynda Dayle Neely passed away at the age of 82 on May 28, 2025 at her home in Abilene, KS.

Born on October 2, 1942, in Refugio, Texas, Lynda was the daughter of Jesse Clyde and Alma Faye (LeBleu) Millican.

She spent her early years in South Texas, creating cherished memories with her siblings. In 1953, her family relocated to Corpus Christi, where she graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1960. She married Richard (Dick) Millner in 1961 and together they welcomed three children, Adam, Jill, and David.Lynda had a passion for preserving history. She became known for purchasing and restoring many of Abilene’s historic homes, sparking a community-wide appreciation for local heritage. In 1982, she was appointed director of the Dickinson County Historical Society. Upon her retirement, she was honored to serve as the first director of the newly established Eisenhower Foundation, a role she held for several years before retiring once more.

Her public service extended beyond these roles. Lynda served on the Abilene City Commission, serving as mayor three times in her tenure. She received a gubernatorial appointment to the Heritage Commission. She was an active member of numerous organizations, including the Kansas Downtown Development Association, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Kansas State Historical Society, Kansas Museum Association, American Association of State and Local History, and the Abilene Area Chamber of Commerce. Of all her achievements, Lynda was most proud of her efforts to make Abilene the best it could be. Her vision and dedication left an enduring mark on the town she loved.In 1989, Lynda married Ed Scheele. Together, they founded ESA Design, through which they designed museums across the United States. One of her most treasured projects was contributing to the design and development of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.

In the last three decades of her life, Lynda was lovingly known as Nana—a title she cherished most. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and she shaped their lives with her warmth, wisdom, and boundless love. She embraced each moment with them, especially those filled with adventure.

On October 13, 2018, Lynda married Russell Neely. Russell was a devoted and loving partner, ensuring her final years could be spent at their cherished home on Red Bud Lake. Their time together was filled with joy, comfort, and continued adventures.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, son Adam Millner and grandson River Wilson Millner. She is survived by her husband, Russell Neely; Children Jill (Steve) Lang and David Millner; Daughter-in-law Chalsea Millner; Sister Gayle Waldrep; Brothers David (Betty) Millican and Dan (Diane) Millican; Grandchildren Killian (Sheridan) Millner, Zoe Millner, Olivia (Gus Bryant) Crist, and Ava Crist; Great Grandchildren River Wayne Millner and Hattie Faye Bryant.

Cremation services for Lynda will be 10:30 am Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene with Pastor Tony Serbousek officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be in the Abilene Cemetery. She married Richard (Dick) Millner in 1961 and together they welcomed three children, Adam, Jill, and David.Lynda had a passion for preserving history. She became known for purchasing and restoring many of Abilene’s historic homes, sparking a community-wide appreciation for local heritage. In 1982, she was appointed director of the Dickinson County Historical Society. Upon her retirement, she was honored to serve as the first director of the newly established Eisenhower Foundation, a role she held for several years before retiring once more.Her public service extended beyond these roles. Lynda served on the Abilene City Commission, serving as mayor three times in her tenure. She received a gubernatorial appointment to the Heritage Commission. She was an active member of numerous organizations, including the Kansas Downtown Development Association, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Kansas State Historical Society, Kansas Museum Association, American Association of State and Local History, and the Abilene Area Chamber of Commerce. Of all her achievements, Lynda was most proud of her efforts to make Abilene the best it could be. Her vision and dedication left an enduring mark on the town she loved.In 1989, Lynda married Ed Scheele. Together, they founded ESA Design, through which they designed museums across the United States. One of her most treasured projects was contributing to the design and development of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.In the last three decades of her life, Lynda was lovingly known as Nana—a title she cherished most. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and she shaped their lives with her warmth, wisdom, and boundless love. She embraced each moment with them, especially those filled with adventure.On October 13, 2018, Lynda married Russell Neely. Russell was a devoted and loving partner, ensuring her final years could be spent at their cherished home on Red Bud Lake. Their time together was filled with joy, comfort, and continued adventures.Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, son Adam Millner and grandson River Wilson Millner. She is survived by her husband, Russell Neely; Children Jill (Steve) Lang and David Millner; Daughter-in-law Chalsea Millner; Sister Gayle Waldrep; Brothers David (Betty) Millican and Dan (Diane) Millican; Grandchildren Killian (Sheridan) Millner, Zoe Millner, Olivia (Gus Bryant) Crist, and Ava Crist; Great Grandchildren River Wayne Millner and Hattie Faye Bryant.Cremation services for Lynda will be 10:30 am Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene with Pastor Tony Serbousek officiating. Nancy Arlene Higbee, 86, passed away on May 16, 2025 at Republic County Hospital. She was born on January 8, 1939 to Francis and Vera (Logan) Reed.

Nancy grew up in Formoso, Kansas, and graduated from Formoso High School in 1957. She participated in basketball, music, and running.

She was a dedicated member and lifelong attendee of the Formoso Community Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Nancy married Jackie Loy Higbee at the Formoso Community Church on August 9, 1959. This union brought three children, Michael Lynn, Jeannea Loy, and Christel Dawn.

She was a very active member of her community, she was a member of the Formoso Athena Club, a 4-H leader, and an Auxiliary member. She enjoyed gardening, making doll dresses, and collecting antiques. She loved helping her children in all the activities that they were involved in. She would help her husband on the farm with preparing meals to take to the field. Would run a truck when needed, and moving Jack from field to field. She loved it when her grandchildren would come to visit her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her son, Michael, her granddaughter, Kassidy, and son-in-law, Jeremie.

She will be missed by her daughters, Jeannea Thomas, of Osborne, Kansas, and Christel Pierce and Kyle of Mankato, KS; Granddaughters, McCaela Nelson, Cheyenne Nelson, Mabel Nelson and Jackie Nelson; also her 7 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Balch Cemetery in Formoso, Kansas, with Jake Englebert officiating. Bruce Charles Waddle, age 62, of Gypsum, passed away suddenly at his home on May 24, 2025.

Bruce&nbsp;was born&nbsp;March&nbsp;23,&nbsp;1963&nbsp;in&nbsp;Salina,&nbsp;KS, to&nbsp;Charles&nbsp;and&nbsp;Elaine Waddle.&nbsp;He&nbsp;was raised&nbsp;in Kipp, KS&nbsp;and&nbsp;was&nbsp;a 1981 graduate of&nbsp;Southeast&nbsp;of Saline High School, remaining&nbsp;very close with his classmates throughout his life. He married his&nbsp;wife of 42 years,&nbsp;Tammy Waddle,&nbsp;in 1982, and they settled in&nbsp;Gypsum, KS&nbsp;where they raised&nbsp;their son.

Bruce’s&nbsp;parents began Waddle’s Heating and Cooling in 1973 when he was 10 years old. He grew up helping in the shop and learning from his father. Eventually, Bruce&nbsp;took&nbsp;over the family business&nbsp;and was the owner until his&nbsp;passing.&nbsp;He was a jack of all trades and took great pride in his work.&nbsp;

Bruce&nbsp;was a&nbsp;very&nbsp;kind and generous man who was always thinking of&nbsp;others. He was a member of several groups within the community. He was also&nbsp;a devoted volunteer fire fighter&nbsp;with&nbsp;Saline County Rural Fire District #1. He&nbsp;volunteered with them&nbsp;for&nbsp;over&nbsp;42 years.

In his free time, he enjoyed going to auctions, hunting, working on his fire truck, and spending time with his grandchildren, Olivia and Keith. He enjoyed taking them fishing and to the races. They were the light of his&nbsp;life,&nbsp;and he loved them very much.&nbsp;

Bruce was preceded in death by an infant daughter and his grandparents, Arnold and Theresa Swanson and Clifford and Margaret Waddle.

Bruce is survived by his parents Charles and Elaine; his wife Tammy; his son and daughter-in-law Wade and Tiffany; his brother Brad (Liz); his sister Christine (Robbie);&nbsp;and grandchildren Olivia and Keith.

Visitation will be at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 4:00 -8:00 pm. with family present from 5:00 -7:00 pm.

Vicky Lynn Aguilar, 69, of Salina, passed away on May 25, 2025. Vicky was born on March 20, 1956, at Logansport, Indiana to Joseph and Velma (Crane) Veach.

Vicky was a strong woman and had a big heart. She was a loving and caring person, and a diligent worker. Vicky loved puzzles, crossword puzzles, and playing solitaire. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays, coming together spending time with her loving family. Vicky loved music, with Micheal Jackson and Elvis Presley being her favorites.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Velma Veach, and brother Gary Veach.

She is survived by her sisters Belinda Bussell of Rogersville, Alabama, Debbie Drake of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Nancy (Brad) Wilson of Titusville, Florida, brother Harrison Manis II of Orlando, Florida, daughters Tonya Watts of Salina, Kansas, Amanda Phillips of Wichita, Kansas, Alicia Olvera of Salina, Kansas and stepdaughter Tracy (Richard) Allen of Salina, Kansas, stepsons Todd Weis of Salina, Kansas, and Tab Weis of Eugene, Oregon, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Marilyn JoAnn Lloyd, 90, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 2nd, 2025.

JoAnn was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on February 7, 1934, the daughter of Edna Pauline (Holmgren) and Fredolph Bernard Oberg. Although an only child, she grew up in a tight-knit family with several cousins living in the Salina and Lindsborg communities.

After graduating from Salina High in 1952, JoAnn attended Bethany College. Later that year, the handsome Airman 1st Class Don Lloyd started attending Salina Bible Church. They married on August 2, 1953, and remained together until his death in May 2024.

JoAnn was an accomplished seamstress with an eye for fashion. She spoiled her daughters with tailor-made clothes and taught knitting and sewing classes at King’s Fabric. The Lord blessed her with an opportunity to work at Sears, where she worked in the catalog and credit departments until she retired in the late 1990s. After her retirement, she started quilting, allowing her to keep her mind nimble.

When JoAnn wasn’t working or sewing, she was serving at church. She taught children’s church for over 30 years, sang in a trio and the choir, and hosted missionaries for meals. She was a phenomenal cook and loved to serve her Lord.Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Davis (Pat), of Pipe Creek, Texas, Roxann Lloyd, of Denver, Colorado, Jana Laipple (Brett), of Wathena, Kansas; and son, Jeffery "Jeff" Lloyd (Bev), of Valley Park, Missouri. She is also survived by 2 Grandchildren, Buddy Lloyd (Amber), Janis Hughes (Will); and 3 great grandchildren, Kennedy, Molly, Charlie.She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Don Lloyd.

Lynnette “Lynnie” Eileen Bishop-Chard passed away on May 15, 2025, at her home in Palco, KS, at the age of 68. She was born on July 12, 1956, to Carl A. and Lois Ruth (Abitz) Bishop in Crete, Nebraska. She was married on March 11, 2000, to Randy Lee Chard in Hill City, Kansas.

She was born in Crete, Nebraska and raised in Salina, Kansas. Lynnie graduated from Salina South High School in 1974. She later became a proud and active member of the Lutheran Association in Hill City, Kansas, where she found fellowship and strength in her faith.

Lynnie had a compassionate heart and dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), an x-ray technician, and served as the manager of Cookies Liquor—where she brought her strong work ethic, humor, and warmth to all who knew her.

A lover of animals and the simple joys in life, Lynnie found happiness in the company of black and white cows, her beloved dogs and cats, and in tending her garden. She enjoyed fishing on quiet afternoons and sharing drinks and laughter with her friends.

Lynnie’s generous spirit, love for nature, and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Lyle Gene Schultz passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the age of 63. He was born in Osborne, Kansas, at Osborne Memorial Hospital to Richard and Nola (Brown) Schultz. He grew up on the family farm, attended Lucas Grade School, and graduated from Lucas-Luray High School in 1979.

Lyle attended the Salina Area Vocational Technical School and earned his degree in Diesel Mechanics. On weekends, he would come home and help his Dad with farm work. Lyle enjoyed hauling cattle over the road and taking care of the cattle on the farm when he was no longer driving a semi. He loved collecting and shooting guns and hunting deer, elk, and pheasants. He started collecting guns early so that he had a legacy to pass on to his boys, Skyler and Ryan.

Lyle was preceded in death by his Dad, Richard, in 2025, his sister Annette in 2022, and his brother, Larry, in 2019. He is survived by his mother, Nola of Lucas, sons Skyler and Ryan of Hays, Kansas, brother-in-law Jerry Lantz of Salina, Kansas, cousins Victoria (Zac Zandt) and Joanie (Brayden) Galliard, both of Garden City, Kansas, nieces Zyra and nephew Zadyn Zundt of Garden City, Kansas.

Lyle Gene Schultz 

Alice Jo Macek, of Wilson, KS, passed away on May 23, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society-Ellsworth Village in Ellsworth, KS, at the age of 85.

Alice was born on the family home west of Holyrood on June 8, 1939, to Josie (Brejcha) and Frank W. Doubrava Jr., the youngest of six children. Her father passed away when she was three, and both grandfathers shortly after, leaving a significant void. Her mother, Josie, remained on the farm and raised the children on her own.

Alice attended Murray Hill Country School for one year and then went to Holyrood, where she graduated from Holyrood High School in 1957. During her senior year, she met Joseph Macek Jr. through a mutual friend, and the two were married on January 25, 1958, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth. The young couple made their home in Wilson, where Joe was involved in the John Deere Implement business, and together they raised two children, Jerry and Ramona.

Alice was active in the community and a devoted member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic church, its Altar Society and St. Francis Circle Daughters of Isabella, where she served in numerous roles, including Past Regent. Her service extended to the USD 328 School Board and past board member of Smoky Hills Community Foundation. A proud 60+ year member of the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs, she served as Sixth District President from 1986-88, when Wilson had two clubs: Friends of Reading and Sorosis. She was also involved in Mother’s Club, sewing club, current member of the GFWC Rainbow Club, Wilson American Legion Auxiliary and Kansas Czechs Inc.

For many years Alice and Joe enjoyed playing in a couple’s pitch card club. Joe passed away on November 3, 2002, following a short illness. Later, Alice and long-time friend Gene Malir began attending social events together, never imagining their relationship would lead to a permanent one. They were married on September 10, 2004, at St. Wenceslaus Church in Wilson. After their marriage, she moved to the farm in Noble Township returning to her roots as a farm gal, where she continued to reside. She and Gene enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends, with several trips outside the United States, and rejoining the couple’s pitch card club where they enjoyed many fun evenings. The Wilson Senior Center was also a special place where she enjoyed good food, companionship, and new friendships over the years.

Throughout her life, Alice worked for several local businesses including The Wilson World, Kenny’s Construction, Wilson High School, LaBelle Boutique, and Bethphage in Ellsworth. After leaving Bethphage, she served as a guardian for the State of Kansas for her ward, Matthew.

Alice enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing, cooking and baking - especially kolaches - spending time with family and friends and serving her community. Proud of her Czech heritage, she contributed to the Annual After Harvest Czech Festival for many years, serving as Parade Chairman.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brother, Alfred Doubrava; sisters and husbands, LouElla (Ken) Thompson, Delores (William) Hinde, and Irene

(Clifford) Urbanek; sisters-in-law, Bernadine (Gail) Bachman, Joan Malir and Marilyn Mattas.

Survivors include son, Jerry (Sandy) Macek of Wilson; daughter, Ramona (Kathy Osborne) Macek of Topeka; sister, Rose (Bob) Small of Lyons; grandchildren, Joe Macek, Amber (Corry) Kepka, Joshua (Laura) Pekar, Courtney (Ryan) Smith; eight great-grandchildren; step-son, Rick (Bonnie Coley) Malir of Dublin, Ohio; step-daughter, Nancy Malir, Alexandria Virginia; brothers-in-law, Ken Malir and Rich Mattas; special friend and helper, Michael Macek; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and her beloved Nike.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 10:30AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in Wilson. Visitation will be on Tuesday, 5PM until 8PM with the family receiving friends 6PM until the Vigil and Rosary Service at 7PM at the funeral home in Wilson.

Alice Jo Macek

Andrea Marie Wildeman (Woods), 82 passed away on April 29, 2025, at Sheridan County Long Term care in Hoxie, KS.

She was born March 21, 1943, in Gypsum, KS. Andrea was the only child of Andrew and Charlotte (Flessa) Woods. Andrea attended and graduated from Gypsum high school in 1961. Andrea received a Bachelor in Education with an emphasis in English from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1965 and her master's in library science from Emporia University in 1978. Andrea also returned to school later in life and received a Master’s in Counseling from Fort Hays State University. She taught and was the school Librarian in Norton, KS for several years before marrying Leroy and moving to Hoxie. After obtaining her counseling degree she worked for the Hoxie School system as both a High School and Grade School Counselor.

Andrea married Leroy Wildeman on June 1, 1985. She joined Leroy and his two children, Paula and Galen, and formed a family. Andrea had a heart for Jesus. She freely gave to anyone that was in need, especially her family and friends. She enjoyed cross stitch, reading and watching the chiefs and game shows. Andrea is survived by her children Paula Marchbanks and her husband, Charles, Galen Wildeman and his wife, Sondra, granddaughter Lindsey Marchbanks, grandsons Nick, Logan and Carter Yates and numerous nieces and nephews. In particular, Andrea would want to acknowledge her niece, Jackie Waldman, for being a second daughter and providing her the love and support she did for so many years.

A mass of Christian burial is planned for June 6, 10:30 AM at the St. Frances Cabrini Church, Hoxie KS. A visitation is planned for June 5, 3-7 pm with a wake starting at 7 pm.

Leon Joseph Kinderknecht, 68, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at home after a long battle with cancer. Leon was born on August 25, 1956, in Quinter, Kansas, to Virgil and Luella (Richmeier) Kinderknecht. Being the second of nine children, he grew up in a close-knit family, where he learned the values of hard work and love. He attended and graduated from Wheatland High School with the class of 1974. He met the love of his life, Tracy Lynn (Brown) Kinderknecht, in front of that school and married her in Park, Kansas, on August 27, 1977. Together, they had three children: Levi Aaron Kinderknecht, Alexander Joseph Kinderknecht, and Mariah Keanna (Kinderknecht) Kabriel. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.

Leon was known not only for his remarkable skills as an auto mechanic but also for his ability to light up a room and lift the spirits of everyone around him. He had a talent for fixing anything with an engine, and his garage was a second home to those who often dropped by—not just for repairs, but for his advice and good company. Leon spent his life doing the things he loved most: tinkering with cars, getting his hands dirty in his garden, and cheering passionately for his favorite sports. He loved NASCAR and sprint car racing, and during football season, you could always find him wearing his Kansas City Chiefs gear, shouting encouragement at the television as if the players could hear him. Whether it was a car that would not start or a friend who needed a laugh, Leon always knew how to bring things back to life.

Leon is survived by his devoted wife, Tracy, who was his partner in life and love. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion through his children: sons Levi Kinderknecht (Tiffany), Alex Kinderknecht (Kristen), and daughter Mariah Kabriel (Ryan). His spirit will live on in his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy: Brinley Jervah, Sebastian McGinty-Kinderknecht, Blaten Jervah, Braysen Jervah, Thea Kinderknecht, and Rhaena Kinderknecht. He is also survived by his siblings: Marilyn Arnold (Dave), Glenda Heier (Richard), Randy Kinderknecht, Galen Kinderknecht, Sheila Heim (Steve), and Eric Kinderknecht (Debbie), along with his brother-in-law, Roy Karnes, parents-in-law, Charles and Judy Brown, and many nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Luella Kinderknecht; sister, Loretta Karnes; brother, Michael Kinderknecht; and infant sister, Mary Ann Kinderknecht.
