
Duane Isaacson passed away on January 16, 2026 in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 70. He was born on March 1, 1955 in Superior, Nebraska to Edward and Mary Jane (Howland) Isaacson.
Duane graduated from Courtland High School in 1973 where he was a captain of the football team and class president. He continued his education at Brown Mackey College, earning his associate degree in 1975.
In 1976, Duane joined the Peace Corps, serving 2 years in Costa Rica. During his time there, he met and married Irene. In 1978 he and Irene moved back to Kansas, and in 1981, the couple welcomed a son Derek. They remained a family for 11yrs before arriving at a divorce. Duane continued to live in the Rossville Kansas area, working in the insurance industry until 1992.
He then decided to move to North Dakota, and while there, he was blessed with a daughter Andrea in 1995.
In 2002, he decided to go back to Costa Rica for 6 years before returning to Kansas in 2008. Duane settled in his Salina home and spent the remainer of his working years employed with Cape Roofing and Menards. Sadly in 2019, his illness made him incapable of continuing employment and he entered medical care soon after.
Duane’s life reflected a spirit of adventure, service, and adaptability. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his unique life experiences, and spending his time on Earth exactly how he wanted to.
He is survived by his children, Derek (Michelle) Isaacson of St. Cloud, FL and Andrea Casson of Greenbay, WI; siblings, Ralph Isaacson of Stafford, AZ, Lois (Ivan) Walker of CO, Rex Isaacson of Courtland, KS; two grandchildren Troy and Taylor Isaacson ; and a slew of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Jane Isaacson; siblings, Erma Greenwood, Rita Hilt, and Joyce Veach.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Courtland United Methodist Church on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 10:30 AM.
