Dorothy Arminta Facklam (Dieffenbaugh), 95, went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2022. She was surrounded by family and passed peacefully at Abilene Memorial Hospital, Abilene, Kansas. Dorothy was born January 13, 1927 on the family farm near Manchester Kansas to Clarence and Arminta Dieffenbaugh (Ausherman). Dorothy attended Keystone School, a one-room schoolhouse near her childhood home, then concluded her education at Abilene High School, graduating with the class of 1945.

On June 3, 1945 she married Floyd Dean Facklam. They were married for 72 years before his passing on March 30, 2018. Dorothy then moved to Frontier Estates where she made friends and was well loved until health reasons forced her into nursing care. Dorothy was a loving homemaker and hard worker, helping to provide for her family by working various jobs: Nockey's In and Out, Bankes Drug Store, Abilene Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper, then Frontier Estates as a receptionist.

She was a faithful servant of the church, attending First Baptist Church of Abilene her entire life. Dorothy is survived by her brother Earl Dieffenbaugh of Las Vegas, Nevada, her son Duane (Karen) Darlene (Rod) Riffel and Diana (Jerry) Rankin, and her daugher-in-law (Clark Facklam) Williams. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Alicia (Chris Cook, Sean Facklam, Joanna Erichsen, Amanda (Robert) Collins, Elizabeth Rankin, Brendan Rankin, Christopher Rankin, Amy (Bill) Harris, and Bonnie Willliams; and eleven great-grandchildren: Hudson and Quinn Cook, Payton and Nora Facklam, Gracie Erichsen, Robie and Clara Collins, Vera Rankin, and David and Michael Harris. Dorothy was preceeded in death by her husband Floyd Facklam, parents, an infant sister Irene, brothers Paul, Lawrence, Elmer Dieffenbaugh, son Donald Facklam, and great-grandson Grady Erichsen. Visitation will be Wednesday September 14, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will be September 15, 2022, 10:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church led by The Reverend Jack Gilstrap, followed by a luncheon at the Church. A private burial will follow at the Abilene Cemetery.

Charles Burney Reid, 90, of Salina, KS, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, September 9, 2022. Charles was born July 5, 1932 in Grandview, MO, to Virgil Paul Reid and Mary Gladys Broadwater Reid. 

Upon graduating from Benton High School, Benton, KS, Charles began his pursuit of a higher education in accounting by enrolling at Emporia State University. Once graduating with his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1954, Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army, observing a two-year deployment to Korea.

With his military career complete, Charles returned to the civilian world and began his career in accounting. 

While employed at Kennedy &amp; Coe, Charles met the love of his life, Esther Ann Fyfe. They wed on May 7, 1961 in Concordia, KS, and soon ushered in their son (Brian Eugene Reid) and daughter (Christy Jo Reid). 

Motivated by a desire to serve the accounting industry to the highest degree, Charles obtained his CPA designation, which would be his catalyst to becoming partner with Woods &amp; Durham, Chartered Accountants, and overseeing their Beloit, KS, branch for decades until his retirement in 1999. 

Charles led a life that embraced a willingness to serve. Along with his countless contributions to the church, he was a member of the Beloit City Council, Rotary, Shriners, Masons, and many other organizations. In his free time, Charles had a passion for travel, sports, and the outdoors, all of which he enjoyed the most with his family by his side.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his only brother, Virgil “Paul” Reid; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Lee Reid. 

Along with his wife and children, Charles is survived by his daughter-in-law, Mary Martha Reid; grandsons Jeremy Tyler Reid (wife, Jill Leeann Reid) and Mason Cole Reid (wife, Jill Diane Reid); granddaughter Kayla Stalnaker (husband, Darick Stalnaker); great-grandsons Jackson Charles Reid and Judah Wallace Reid; great-granddaughters Nora Stalnaker and Jolee Jewel Reid; and nieces Nancy Anne Reid and Sally Jo Reid.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, 2508 Belmont Blvd., Salina, KS 67401.

Gerry “Goose” Lee Gosselin, age 74, entered rest on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, in Salina, Kansas. He was born on September 22nd, 1947, in Concordia, Kansas to Zella (Comeau) and Almer Gosselin.

He was the third child out of eight children and attended Notre Dame High School in Concordia. After high school, he joined the Navy and after serving a little over a year he was honorably discharged. While in the Navy he got the National Defense Service Medal. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he went back home to Concordia, and started working at Wyatt’s Manufacturing in Salina, Kansas.

In August of 1968, he met his wife, Cindy at St. John's Hospital in Salina, while he was a patient. He proposed to Cindy on December 6th, 1968, and they were married on February 15th, 1969, in Concordia. They welcomed their first child together, Patricia, in December 1969 and their second child, Maurice, in March of 1972.

&nbsp;He joined the Army National Guard on January 25th, 1974, to which he served for 23 years where he was honorably discharged on February 25th, 1997. While in the Army National Guard, he received many different medals and accommodations. He began working as a janitorial staff for USD 305 and then he started at Salina Regional Health Center as environmental services in 2000 and retired in 2010. 

After he retired from the hospital, he enjoyed his years of retirement by riding his bicycle, watching football games at either the local high school or college, and spending time with his grandchildren, children, and wife.

He was a proud grandfather of four grandchildren and was also a proud great-grandfather of five great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Dale, his older sister Patricia, and his younger brother Ronnie.

&nbsp;He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy, his two children, Patricia (Pat) and Maurice, his grandchildren, Billy (Emerald), Melissa, Kimberly, and Mikey, and his great-grandchildren, Alexander, Sofia, Odin, and Ares, and one great-grandchild on the way, T’ana, all of whom are from Salina. He is also survived by his younger brother, Lawrence Gosselin of Oxford, Kansas, his younger sister Betty (Tom) Hahn of Oviedo, Florida, his younger sister Theresa (Michael) Hoffhines of Salina, Kansas, his younger brother, Donnie of Beloit, Kansas, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friends, Barry Hoffman and Paul Gebhardt.

Memorial service will be later with the family.

David Werth, 82, of Bullhead City, Arizona, peacefully passed away on August 20, 2022.&nbsp;

He was born December 10, 1939, in 
Schoenchen, Kansas, the son of Anastas and Anna (Jacobs) Werth. &nbsp;As a 
teenager, David moved from Schoenchen to La Crosse, Kansas, where he 
worked as an auto body repairman. &nbsp;In September of 1961, he married 
Barbara Vanderbur, and together they had four children: Monica, 
Mitchell, Michael, and Monte. &nbsp;In 1966, the family relocated to Salina, 
Kansas. &nbsp;David was hired at Warta Buick as an auto body repairman, then 
moved into sales, and over time became the general manager of Warta 
Buick. &nbsp;Still in Salina, David changed careers in the mid '70s. &nbsp;He 
began to build custom homes, formed Werth Inc., and developed an 
apartment complex and condominiums.&nbsp;

In May of 1986, he married Rita Hassell
 in Aruba, and together they had a son: Matthew.&nbsp; While living in Aruba,
 David sold timeshare at Playa Linda and they built a home. &nbsp;The 
mornings were spent walking on the beach and enjoying the island 
climate. &nbsp;In 1993, they moved to Florida where he was a self-employed 
entrepreneur.&nbsp; In 1996, they moved to Bullhead City, Arizona where David
 went back to his roots and got his auto auction license and started 
restoring cars for resell.&nbsp; In 2005, they moved to Kingman, Arizona, 
built a custom home essentially by themselves, and would live there for 
the next 13 years. &nbsp;In 2018, they made their final move back to Bullhead
 City and built their retirement home.&nbsp; David was a man of many 
talents.&nbsp; In retirement, David and Rita continued to stay busy turning 
motorcycles into trikes, restoring boats, cars, golf carts and RV’s for 
resell.&nbsp; His hobbies included dancing, playing cards, puzzles, and 
watching sports.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife Rita of 
Bullhead City, AZ, a daughter: Monica Stephenson and husband Kevin of 
Broken Arrow, OK, four sons: Mitchell Werth and wife Dawn Yarbrough of 
Broken Arrow, OK, Michael Werth and wife Alice of Philadelphia, PA,

CO, two sisters: Annabelle McMillan and Norma Jean Jacobs, both of Fort 
Collins, CO, his mother-in-law, numerous brothers and sisters-in law, 
nieces, and nephews of Aruba, eight grandchildren: Nikki, Jason, Alex, 
Kressley, Katie, Mason, Mikayla, and Kaleb, and eight 
great-grandchildren: Jadon, Bryson, Camdon, Dixon, Sutton, Makai, and 
twins Rylan and Logan.&nbsp;

parents, siblings: Hedwig “Hattie” Degenhardt, Georgine “Jean” 
Freighberger, Julius Werth, Marvin “Whitey” Werth, Doris Amerin, Elsie

Lulu Irene (Forbenius) Swenson – Lulu “Lou” died September 7, 2022 at the Bethany Home at the age of 92. She was born near Linconville, Kansas on September 8, 1929, the fourth child of Karl and Katherine (Beisel) Forbenius. 

Lou was raised on the family homestead with her two older brothers, older sister and one younger sister. Growing up she was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. She attended Lincolnville Elementary School and graduated from Lincolnville High School. After graduation, Lou moved to McPherson, Kansas. 

She married Raynold Swenson on April 16, 1949, and was married for 56 years until Raynold’s passing in 2005. She and Raynold had two children, son Dale and daughter Debra, and five grandchildren, Damian, Danyel, Jessica, Katie and Kendal.

Lou worked in the medical field most of her adult life. Starting in 1959 through 1967, she worked for the Lindsborg Community Hospital. In 1967, she started working for Dr. Murfitt, where she remained for 17 years. In 1984, after a brief stint at the Bethany Home, she returned to the hospital where she worked in home health until her retirement. Lou enjoyed her work and cared for many people in the Lindsborg community. In her retirement, Lou helped run the TACOL thrift store for many years.

Lou was a child of God and served Him in many ways. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday and Bible School. She enjoyed teaching and working with the children of the church. 

Lou was a competitive person; it didn’t matter if it was cards, sports or Wii bowling, she played to win. She played on several softball teams as a pitcher, and competed in the women’s league at the Lindsborg Bowling Center. After “retiring” from participating in sports, Lou watched from the stands, as she traveled to various sporting events watching her grandchildren play football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and track and field. She was a fan of baseball and often watched the Chicago Cubs on WGN. 

Lou enjoyed the outdoors, and would often take the grandkids fishing, where she was never afraid to bait a hook or take a fish off. She was also a lover of music, everything from George Jones, to the Lawrence Welk Show, to gospel, but she was partial to the music heard while attending all of her grandchildren’s choir and band concerts.

Lou was proceeded in death by her husband Raynold, parents Karl and Katherine, brothers Marion and E. Dean Forbenius, sisters Ruth Forbenius and Betty Beneke, and son-in-law Tony Patterson.

Lou is survived by son Dale (Julie) Swenson, daughter Debra Patterson, and grandchildren Damian Vosburg, Danyel Patterson, Jessica Patterson, Katie Swenson (Mike and Sydney), and Kendal Swenson (Amber).

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the wonderful people from Kindred Hospice and the Bethany Home for their compassion and loving care of Lou over the final days of her life. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg.

Private family graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery.

Glennis Lee Schropp, 91, of McPherson, KS passed away at 6:05 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6th, surrounded by her son Monte, and daughter in-law Tami, at her residence as she had requested.

Glennis was born in Burlington, KS on August 22, 1931, the daughter of Inez Lee (Wentworth) and Selden Burk Laird.

Glennis attended Beechwood School in Sedgwick County and graduated from Hartford High School, Hartford, KS. 

Glennis loved her family. She proudly wore her "Schropp's Grandma" sweatshirt to her grandchildren and eventually her great-grandchildren's sporting events and activities.Glennis was a passionate fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. A diehard fan who loved them through both feast and famine, a love she shared with Don and Monte and eventually some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was able to celebrate both Super Bowl wins of the team. 

She and Don went to many games over the years and took children and grandchildren along to enjoy. On game day the Chief's flag always flew high at 615 E. Kansas. 

Glennis spent countless hours preparing for and cleaning up after camping and fishing trips and hunting adventures. She would prepare whatever they brought to her kitchen to cook.

Glennis was feisty and had a quick wit, but was also a very tender and compassionate woman. She was a quiet woman, who had a listening ear and a hot cup of coffee for anyone who needed it. She never imposed her wishes on anyone, but would let you know what she thought if you asked. "I guess, I guess" "Oh boy, oh boy" and "Oh sh-" were some of her most familiar sayings. Through the years and countless documents, Glennis' middle name has raised questions and spawned stories having been spelled both "Lee" and "Lea". Glennis said the latter was incorrect even though that's what is on her birth certificate. 

One thing is true, no matter how it is spelled, she has a nephew, great-nephew, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters who proudly bear the name of this beloved woman.

Glennis took great pride in her appearance while she was in the workforce. She worked for Farmers Alliance Insurance for 30 years. She was always dressed to the nines with perfectly manicured nails and her hair done just right. Because of this, Glennis was admired by many. 

She loved her friends and co-workers and enjoyed bringing her grandchildren to the annual Easter egg hunt, and attending the retiree's dinner with her sister as her plus-one. She joked that this November she would have been retired for 30 years so she would get paid to not work for as many years as she had worked. 

After retirement Glennis worked briefly for the hospital auxiliary, a position she loved until family needs became more pressing.

She took care of many people through the years. Her sons when they had health challenges, with train trips to St. Louis and later weekly trips to Wichita. Don was diagnosed with leukemia and they dealt with that together as a couple. Some time after, upon her father's passing, Glennis and Don moved her mother in with them and cared for her until she returned to Arkansas in 1995. She took care of Don in their home until he passed in 2002, according to his wishes. He commented on their final anniversary together "You know we've been together for 50 years." She always made it a point to offer care to those who needed it.

Glennis L. Laird was united in marriage to Donald D. Schropp on February 10th, 1952, in Hartford, KS. The young couple established their first home together in Wichita, KS. This union was blessed with five children, one daughter and four sons, Ginger, Michael, Monte, Mark, and adopted son Ron Wege. 

The family moved to Peabody, then Newton, KS until 1962, when they settled in McPherson, KS.

She is survived by her son Monte Schropp and his wife Tami of McPherson, KS; adopted daughter-in-law Claudette Wege of Coleridge, NE; and sister Loretta Costner of McPherson, KS. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren: Kim (Marc) Wurzinger, Colin, Kerry, Katie, of Channahon, IL; Mike (Missy) Mead, Ava, Ella, of Olathe, KS; Jason (Kim) Schropp, Kaitlyn (Tray) Asbil, Hailee Schropp, of Bell Aire, KS; Jennifer (Justin Dietzel) Schropp, Alex Kalkorst, Tyler and Autumn LaSalle, of McPherson, KS; Jody Schropp, Rilynn, Keigan and Kynlee Newhouse, of McPherson, KS; Jacob (Tara) Schropp, Owen, Brynley, Monster McCall, of Broken Arrow, OK; Jessica Schropp (Clay Roby), Jonah Schropp, of McPherson, KS; Chris (Makayla) Schropp, of McPherson, KS; Chad Schropp, Drake, of McPherson, KS; Casey Schropp, Gentry, Barlow Dishman, of Moundridge, KS; other relatives and many friends.

Rosalee Judd, 94, Beverly, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Lincoln Park Manor, Lincoln, Kansas.

She was born on May 4, 1928 to Henry L. and May E. (Wild) Mastellar. 

She graduated from Barnard High School, Barnard, Kansas, in May 1946. After graduation, she attended summer school for teaching at Hays, Kansas. 

After summer school, she came back to Barnard to teach at the King School one year and the next year at Bashan School, south of Shady Bend, Kansas. 

On May 2, 1948, she married Arthur H. Judd, and after his passing, married Virgal Schroeder. She worked at the Beverly State Bank, Beverly, Kansas, for 38 years and also was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her sister Madonna Rathbun, and two brothers, Henry G. and William W. Mastellar.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law Mary Ann Mastellar, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Graveside services and burial will be at the Beverly Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, with Pastor Kay Metzler officiating.

On September 4, 2022, David Allen Stevens, fondly known as “Pastor Dave,” of Sedgwick, Kansas was called to his heavenly home. Born on December 6, 1957 in Camden, New Jersey, David has always had an adventurous soul and heart of a scholar. 

After earning his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University, David pursued his love of Jesus and service to the community through obtaining his master's of divinity at Eastern Baptist Seminary, before spending time studying biblical interpretation at Iliff School of Theology.

Pastor Dave continued his devotion to God through ministry in various churches in Colorado, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and finally, Kansas. 

In his ministry, Pastor Dave strived to be a source of comfort, peace, and compassion for his congregation. His work was never done, waking up early to study the scripture, making late night phone calls or hospital visits to reassure those during their challenging days, or working diligently to find the best scripture verse to read at a wedding he officiated. Pastor Dave made certain that he was present with his congregation through their tragedies and their joys; a true shepherd. Pastor Dave’s service reached beyond his own church, having served as a mentor to Chaguanas Mennonite Church and as a teacher to aspiring pastors at the West Indies Theological College in Trinidad and Tobago.

David’s love of God and his congregation was echoed by the love for his family. David married the love of his life, Carole, on June 9, 1984. David and Carole would go on to have two children, Laura and Katie. 

David shared many adventures with his family, including canoeing trips down the Susquehanna river, visiting Andre the Seal in Maine, skating the frozen Rideau Canal, and reading every museum sign, much to his kid’s chagrin.

In recent years, David graduated to being “Opa” with the birth of his three cherished grandsons, Connor, Collin, and Caysen. David adored being their grandfather… racing the car as they drove down the driveway, saving snakes and frogs he found to show the boys, and taking them hiking, much like he did with his own girls.

David was greeted at heaven’s gates by his mother Ruth, and father Norman, as well as his in-laws Warren and Ella, whom he treasured as much as his own.

David’s memory and legacy will be carried on through his wife Carole, daughters Laura (Daniel), Katie (Josh), grandsons Connor, Collin, and Caysen, cousins Lynne, Judy, and Gale, and sisters-in-law Janice (Jerry) and Linda, along with various nieces and nephews (and great-niece and nephews), and the many people he touched through his spiritual leadership and friendship.

Born on December 6, 1957 in Camden, New Jersey, David has always had an adventurous soul and heart of a scholar. After earning his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University, David pursued his love of Jesus and service to the community through obtaining his master's of divinity at Eastern Baptist Seminary, before spending time studying biblical interpretation at Iliff School of Theology.Pastor Dave continued his devotion to God through ministry in various churches in Colorado, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and finally, Kansas. In his ministry, Pastor Dave strived to be a source of comfort, peace, and compassion for his congregation. His work was never done, waking up early to study the scripture, making late night phone calls or hospital visits to reassure those during their challenging days, or working diligently to find the best scripture verse to read at a wedding he officiated. Pastor Dave made certain that he was present with his congregation through their tragedies and their joys; a true shepherd. Pastor Dave’s service reached beyond his own church, having served as a mentor to Chaguanas Mennonite Church and as a teacher to aspiring pastors at the West Indies Theological College in Trinidad and Tobago.David’s love of God and his congregation was echoed by the love for his family. David married the love of his life, Carole, on June 9, 1984. David and Carole would go on to have two children, Laura and Katie. David shared many adventures with his family, including canoeing trips down the Susquehanna river, visiting Andre the Seal in Maine, skating the frozen Rideau Canal, and reading every museum sign, much to his kid’s chagrin.In recent years, David graduated to being “Opa” with the birth of his three cherished grandsons, Connor, Collin, and Caysen. Letha “Ione” (Akers) Johnson, 98, of Lindsborg, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg. 

Besides being a farm wife,&nbsp;Ione worked at Bethany College for a few years, and then in the dietary department at Bethany Home, Lindsborg for over 20 years.

She was born on May 16, 1924, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of John and Irene (Pieratt) Akers.&nbsp; At the age of two, Ione moved with her parents and brother to a farm near Conway, KS.&nbsp; There, she lived until 1946.&nbsp; 

She graduated from McPherson High School and attended McPherson College.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

She was united in marriage to Lester E. Johnson on January 23, 1946, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Lindsborg.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children.&nbsp; They lived on a farm east of Bridgeport, KS for 65 years.&nbsp;

Ione was a member of the Assaria Lutheran Church.&nbsp; She was active in WELCA, The Victory E.H.U., and the Friendly Valley 4-H Club.&nbsp;

 Ione’s main source of joy was her family.&nbsp; She had a deep love and concern for each member and was always appreciative of their many displays of respect and love.&nbsp;

Survivors include: four children, Larry (Pamela) Johnson of Madison, WI, Loren (Cholly) Johnson of Assaria, KS, Linda (Verne) Hubalek of Lindsborg, KS, and Loretta (Joel) Mayfield of Springfield, VA; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Leland Akers and Don Akers.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson, KS.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, at Assaria Lutheran Church in Assaria, KS with Pastor Dean Apel officiating. Burial will follow at the Assaria Lutheran Church Cemetery.&nbsp;

Raymond E. Thompson, 93, entered into eternal rest on August 14, 2022 in Derby, Kansas.&nbsp; Ray was born December 15, 1928 in Pueblo, Colorado and spent many wonderful years there. He graduated from Central High School in Pueblo and then enlisted and served two years in the Navy. Ray then attended Pueblo Jr. College followed by Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO where he graduated with a degree in forestry.

After graduation he was united in marriage to Sharon Stewart, which was later dissolved.&nbsp; To this marriage they were blessed with 10 children.&nbsp;

Ray worked for the U. S. Forest Service, the Soil Conservation Service, and Olin Mathison Ag. Chemical Company.&nbsp; After moving to Beloit, Kansas Ray worked at Boettcher Enterprise where, in 1990, he was honored by 60 other agribusiness leaders for his leadership, vision and commitment to the environment and agricultural industry.&nbsp; In 1993 Ray retired from Boettcher Enterprise.&nbsp;

In 1971, Ray was humbled to be authorized by His Excellency, the most Reverend Cyril Vogel, Bishop of Salina, KS to serve as a Eucharistic minister at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit, KS. He also served on the St. John's Catholic School board and the Beloit City Council. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Ray enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping.&nbsp; He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything. He spent the last&nbsp;28&nbsp;years of his life traveling to the mountains of Colorado and spending most of his summers in southern Texas while residing in Dennison, TX&nbsp;with wife Darlene Willoughby.&nbsp;

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill, daughter Rebecca Thompson and son-in-law, Gene Lindsay.&nbsp; 

He is survived by his wife Darlene Willoughby, sister Loretta Polka, daughters Deborah (Mike) Grejtak, Mary (Kent) Garst, Rhonda Lindsay (companion Dan), Catherine (Van) Heinz, and Rachel Thompson and sons David (Lisa) Thompson, Stuart (Pat) Thompson, Robert (Jennifer) Thompson, Michael (Brandie) Thompson, and a stepson, Taylor (Charleen) Willoughby, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Clara Mae Watts was born on October 23, 1947 in Salina, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth and Virginia Yeagley Bledsoe. She died Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas at the age of 74.

&nbsp;She grew up in Salina, where she graduated from Salina High School in 1966. Later that year, she was united in marriage with Leith Watts. Two sons, Timothy and Richard, were born to this union.

Clara later went back to school to study business management at Brown Mackie College in Salina. 

From 1975 – 1987, she owned and operated The Cake Box in Salina and Beloit, and decorated cakes for many different occasions throughout the years. From 1987-2010, she served as the secretary and office manager for Watts and Son Plumbing. After her semi-retirement, she also operated the Porter House Café for two years, and served as a home interior representative for many years.

In her spare time, Clara enjoyed following her kids and grandkids through their many activities. She also loved to travel, but spending time with her family was the most important.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leith; sister Judy Brown; and brother Danny Bledsoe.

Clara is survived by her sons Timothy and wife Laura of Beloit, and Richard of Versailles, Missouri; siblings Jim Brown and wife Wanda of Solomon, Virginia Lee Lessenden of Abilene, Jerry Brown of Central City, Nebraska, and Bob Bledsoe and wife Linda of Salina; six grandchildren, Tyler and wife Charley of Beloit, Tayler of Spencer, Iowa, Bradon of Salina, Brodey of Glasco, Briele of Wichita, and Brylee of Jefferson City, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jaycey, and Owen; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 10 at the New Life Church in Beloit. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. with family present from 5-6 p.m. Friday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home.

Longtime Abilene and surrounding area resident Perry DeWeese Jr., 79 passed away on Friday, September 2nd 2022.Perry was born on April 11, 1943 in Salina, KS. He was the only son of Vester Perry DeWeese, Sr. and Georgia Hanna (Sanderson) DeWeese. 

After graduating from Abilene High School in 1961, he attended Emporia State and Washburn Universities. 

He married Junette (Viola) and enlisted in the Army in 1966. He served in the Fifth United States Army, 50th Ordinance Company where he earned the National Defense Service medal for service in the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge as sergeant in 1969, Perry returned to central Kansas, where he and June raised three sons.

Professionally, Perry mastered the trade of construction. He worked for himself and other local area companies until he found his path managing the building of increasingly larger and complex projects. He was a respected senior commercial construction superintendent working for several of the largest corporations in the industry where over his 25-plus years his projects took him coast to coast and back again.

Perry found happiness again with Jan (Richardson) and after more than 35 years together officially married in November 2015. Perry and Jan were together for over 42 years and called Solomon (KS) home for many years before relocating to Abilene for the remainder of his life.

An avid traveler, reader, hunter, and fisherman, Perry had an immeasurable skill as a story teller where he interweaved his experiences and observation into endless hours of enjoyment for his friends and family. 

Perry faced many adversities over his last years and faced them all with faith, devotion and perseverance till the end.

He is lovingly survived by his wife Jan DeWeese of Abilene, KS, sons Doug DeWeese, Dustin (Michelle) DeWeese, and Dane DeWeese of Abilene, KS, stepdaughter Tara (Aaron) Harrison of Thornton, CO, sisters Jean Britt and Chris Kabler of Abilene KS, his 11 wonderful grandchildren whom he adored, and Gemma his cat which could do no wrong.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nona Barlow, daughter-in-law Lacey Dolton DeWeese, grandson Kaidric DeWeese.

A Celebration of Life honoring Perry will be held at a date to be determined.

Longtime Abilene and surrounding area resident Perry DeWeese Jr., 79 passed away on Friday, September 2nd 2022.Perry was born on April 11, 1943 in Salina, KS. He was the only son of Vester Perry DeWeese, Sr. and Georgia Hanna (Sanderson) DeWeese. After graduating from Abilene High School in 1961, he attended Emporia State and Washburn Universities. He married Junette (Viola) and enlisted in the Army in 1966. He served in the Fifth United States Army, 50th Ordinance Company where he earned the National Defense Service medal for service in the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge as sergeant in 1969, Perry returned to central Kansas, where he and June raised three sons.Professionally, Perry mastered the trade of construction. He worked for himself and other local area companies until he found his path managing the building of increasingly larger and complex projects. He was a respected senior commercial construction superintendent working for several of the largest corporations in the industry where over his 25-plus years his projects took him coast to coast and back again.Perry found happiness again with Jan (Richardson) and after more than 35 years together officially married in November 2015. Perry and Jan were together for over 42 years and called Solomon (KS) home for many years before relocating to Abilene for the remainder of his life.An avid traveler, reader, hunter, and fisherman, Perry had an immeasurable skill as a story teller where he interweaved his experiences and observation into endless hours of enjoyment for his friends and family. Perry faced many adversities over his last years and faced them all with faith, devotion and perseverance till the end.He is lovingly survived by his wife Jan DeWeese of Abilene, KS, sons Doug DeWeese, Dustin (Michelle) DeWeese, and Dane DeWeese of Abilene, KS, stepdaughter Tara (Aaron) Harrison of Thornton, CO, sisters Jean Britt and Chris Kabler of Abilene KS, his 11 wonderful grandchildren whom he adored, and Gemma his cat which could do no wrong.Perry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nona Barlow, daughter-in-law Lacey Dolton DeWeese, grandson Kaidric DeWeese.A Celebration of Life honoring Perry will be held at a date to be determined.Memorials are suggested to the charitable organizations – Kansas Kids In Crisis (Kids In Crisis c/o Pinnacle Bank, P.O. Bryan Nelson Hernandez, 53, of Salina, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022.&nbsp; He was born July 16, 1969, in Salina, to Maria Sanchez; she precedes him in death.&nbsp; 

Bryan attended Salina South High School where he graduated in 1987.&nbsp; He went on to attend Kansas State University.&nbsp; He had a ten-year career with the Salina Rescue Mission where he had a big impact on everyone he came in contact with; he was a mentor to a lot of the guests that wanted to be better.&nbsp; He was also a very proud member of the Bikers for Christ where he grew to be an even bigger impact on people’s lives at the rescue mission and the BFC. Bryan grew closer to God and became a better person. &nbsp;

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Spring Joy Hernandez, of Salina; son Tre Ponting (Destiny), of Maize; daughters Jennifer Ponting of Salina and Deanna Ponting of Salina; sister Sonya Hernandez of Salina; grandchildren Kyla Ponting, Trenton Ponting, Shyanne Claus, Emmi Siharath, Acelin Ponting, Love Ponting, Honey Ponting, Kala Fields, Keanna Fields, and Alyessa Fields; great-grandchildren Amelia Ward, Loralee Claus, Demarcio McCoy, Jr., London Fields and Anyiah Fields; nephews Justin Hernandez (Lauren) of Inman and Jared Hernandez of Salina; niece Marissa Hernandez of Salina; great-nephews Jordin, Jaxin, Jaydin Hernandez; and several brothers and sisters from the BFC and Rescue Mission.&nbsp; Bryan’s motto to everyone:&nbsp; God, Family, Ride.

Matthew James Teel, 38, was born on August 15, 1984, in Salina, KS and passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022. 

He spent his childhood in Salina before moving to Solomon, KS in 1996. 

As an honor roll student, Matt graduated from Solomon High School in 2002. He attended Brown Mackie College for criminal justice before starting his 20-year career at Petro 2. During his tenure, he held multiple positions from being a cashier to general manager. Over the years, he worked with staff he loved and cared for. 

Matt was a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Amber (Klaus) Teel, four children, Anna, William, Abby, and Clark, mother Deborah Teel, brother Mike Teel, two uncles, three aunts, 11 cousins, and many friends.

Matt was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, father William Teel, uncles Wes and Doyle Teel, sister-in-law Rebecca Rogers-Teel.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on September 17th at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio, Salina, KS.

In remembrance of Matt’s life, the family asks that any charitable contributions be made to the Matthew Teel memorial fund at the Bank of Tescott.

SALINA -&nbsp;Connie Erickson Burnham, 88, died Friday, September 2, 2022 at her home in Salina, KS. With support from family, friends, and neighbors, Connie was blessed to live independently in her home until her death.

She was born on July 18, 1934 in Deadwood, SD and attended schools in Spearfish, SD. She earned an elementary teaching degree from Black Hills State University in 1954.

On August 4, 1954 Connie was united in marriage with Kenneth E. Burnham of Highmore, SD. The couple spent the next 40 years in North Dakota where she graduated from Minot State University in 1970. They lived in Glendive, MT, Minot and Williston, ND before moving to Salina. in December of 1995. A highlight each summer and holidays was family gatherings in Salina.

Mrs. Burnham taught school in Montana and North Dakota and was a substitute teacher in Salina. 

Family, friends, and children were the focus of her life.&nbsp; She will be remembered for her positive attitude and a gentle and beautiful spirit.&nbsp;&nbsp; She had a love of life and was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Mrs. Burnham was a member of Christ Cathedral and was a long time&nbsp; member in several education associations, Order of the Eastern Star and Shrine Auxiliary. She was a lifetime advocate of education, church, and community. Connie loved to see her family supporting each other and enjoying who they are.

She is survived by three sons, Brian (Gigi) of Littleton, CO, Craig and Jay (Teri) of St Louis, MO; grandchildren Sean, Jordan, and Bridget; Paige, Luke, and Max; sister-in-law Mary Ann Erickson of Spearfish, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth. They were married for 57 years when he died in 2011; a daughter, Michelle; and brother, Marvin Erickson of Spearfish, SD.

Cremation has taken place and a private prayer service will be held at the Garden Columbarium, Christ Cathedral, Salina, where her ashes will be inurned.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Cathedral.
