Miriam Hershberger, 70, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away from cancer on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson. She was born August 28, 1952 in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Mark E. and Mary (Mast) Hershberger. At four months of age, Miriam contracted polio.
Miriam was a babysitter and also a homemaker.
She was a member of the Amish Church in Hutchinson.
Survivors include her father Mark Hershberger of Hutchinson; siblings Firman (Mary) Hershberger of Kalona, IA, Jacob (Esther) Hershberger of Inola, OK, Daniel (Verna) Hershberger of Hutchinson; Susan Yoder of Hicksville, OH, Rosella (Erik) Gottfried of Tamaqua, PA, Joseph Hershberger of Wellman, IA, Elizabeth (Jr.) Beachy of Hutchinson, and Esther (Robert) Miller of Toston, MT; 19 nephews; 21 nieces; 42 great-nephews; 16 great-nieces; three great-great-nephews and three great-great-nieces.
Miriam was preceded in death by her mother Mary Hershberger; sister-in-law Sovilla Hershberger; brother-in-law Lavern Yoder; three nephews; one niece; and one great-nephew.
Family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the Amish Community Building, 5917 W Mills Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67501. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 6, at the Amish Community Building. Burial will follow at the Amish Community Cemetery, Hutchinson.
