<a href="https://www.ryanmortuary.com/obituary/Marlene-Gunnerson"></a>Marlene K. Gunnerson, 84 of Assaria, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022 peacefully with her husband Jerome, daughter Nikole, and son Kyle at her side at Salina Regional Medical Center.&nbsp;

Marlene was born in Salina, KS on October 14, 1938 to Carl and Emma Shuberg.&nbsp; 

She graduated from Salina Central High School in 1956, where she met the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Jerome.&nbsp;&nbsp;

 Marlene completed course work in stenography at Brown Mackie College and worked for Great Plains Insurance before going into the future family business, Town and Country TV, with Jerome.&nbsp; 

Marlene and Jerome were married in First Methodist Church in Salina in 1959, and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on October 11.&nbsp; 

Marlene became a huge sports fan cheering her children and grandchildren all through the age groups, from “little league” to college athletics.&nbsp; She was a loyal Chiefs and Royals fan, even when that wasn't popular.

Marlene was famous for her baking, which she enjoyed doing frequently with her mother.&nbsp; The Christmas season was always upon us when Marlene would bake a wide variety of delicious cookies, candies, and treats for all of her children, grandchildren, and friends.&nbsp; Marlene also had a magical twinkle in her eye and would always seem to find and encouraging word of support even in some of the most painful times.&nbsp; Her laugh was infectious and frequent.&nbsp; She was always a great card player, usually winning all the time at her pinochle nights.&nbsp; However, in the past several years, she really honed those skills and reached “card shark” status playing various games with her children, grandchildren, or any unsuspecting card player willing to take her on.

Left in mourning her passing is her husband, Jerome, of the home, son Dr. Kyle Gunnerson of Saline, MI, daughter Nikole Zegunis (Gunnerson) and her husband Michael of Lenexa, KS, brother Ronald Shuberg of Topeka and his wife Marge, cousin Alan Weiser and his wife Marilyn of Arvada, CO, nephew Eric Shuberg, Topeka. Grandchildren are Zack Zegunis and his wife Riley, Seth Zegunis, and Luke Zegunis of Kansas City metro area and Brigid Gunnerson, Keira Gunnerson, Thomas Gunnerson, and Maeve Gunnerson of Saline, MI.

Church and graveside service will be at Assaria Lutheran Church, 124 W. First Street, Assaria KS 67416 on Tuesday, October 25 at 10:00 a.m.

Barbara Jean Wood, 72 of Salina, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022. She was born July 8, 1950, in Ransom, Kansas

She worked as a trust clerk / teller for UMB Bank here in Salina for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ivan E and Dorothy A. S. (Roths) Stetler, and her husband Earl Wood.

Survivors include her three sons, Jeff &nbsp;Wood of Salina, Jeremy (Heather) Wood of Bennington, and Jason (Patty) Wood of Salina, her sister Jan (Don) Leiker of Strasburg, Colorado, six grandchildren, four nephews and one niece.

Cremation has been chosen and a memorial service will be planned for a later date.

Nancy Kay (McGavran) Robbins went to be with our Heavenly Father on October 19, 2022, at the age of 84.

Nancy was born April 15, 1938, in Abilene, KS to Carl and Rovena (Windhorst) McGavran. 

Nancy graduated in 1956 from Minneapolis High School. 

She married Eugene E Robbins July 15, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Wells, KS.&nbsp;Nancy and Eugene (Gene) were married for 34 years before he preceded her in death April 12, 1990.

During their marriage, Gene and Nancy welcomed five daughters. Nancy was a loving mother, wife, and homemaker. For each daughter, she was roommother, Girl Scout Troop Leader, “beautician" and seamstress.

Nancy worked at numerous places in the community, including Boogaart’s, Perry’s Liquor, E lDorado and the bowling alley. Nancy is fondly remembered for her many years at the bowling alley. She was an avid bowler and Gene built her a special cabinet for her many trophies. In 1991, Dean Johnson offered her a job at the City Pharmacy. Nancy loved this job and most of all, her pharmacy family. She worked at the pharmacy for 29 years before retiring in 2020.

Nancy enjoyed sports; she attended many Minneapolis High School football and basketball games. You always knew where to find her when the Royals, Chiefs, or KU Jayhawks were on TV.

She is survived by her five daughters Sharon Hatfield of Lincoln, KS; Karen Arias and husband Jairo of Hays, KS; Janet Robbins of Wamego, KS; Jill Robbins and partner Hans Cathers of Hays, KS; Jeannie Robbins of Minneapolis, KS; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers Fred, Ray, and Tom McGavran. She is also survived by her best friend of 60 years, Di Fraser. At one of her family reunions, Nancy looked at her large family and exclaimed “I started all this!”&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eugene; sister Deanna Cross; son-in-law Curt Roach; father and mother- in-law, Frank and Wilma Robbins; brother-in-law Dean Robbins; and sister-in-law Dolly Mae Andrla.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 23 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wilson Family Funeral Home 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 24 at the First United Methodist Church 418 N. Rock St., Minneapolis, and burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery Minneapolis.

Rachel Lee Johnson, 80, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 12:16 p.m., Tuesday, October 18th, 2022 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. Rachel was born in McPherson, Kansas on November 16, 1941, a daughter of Bessie Arlene (Anderson) and Thomas Samuel Miller. Through the years Rachel was a homemaker, farmer's wife and had a daycare business out of her home, worked for A&amp;W as a carhop where she met her husband Verle, was a nurse's aide at McPherson Hospital, then worked at the McPherson County Courthouse as a payroll clerk for 33 years until she retired. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson. Rachel was known for her servant heart for others and her favorite place to be was anywhere surrounded by her friends and family. She always had great stories to share and was always up for a game of cards or dominoes. She enjoyed watching all sports and could be found in the kitchen baking her famous pies and cakes. If she wasn’t covered in flour baking in the kitchen, she was knee deep in thread sewing quilts. She loved seeing things grow in her garden and canning what she grew. No matter if she was canning or baking, she loved sharing what she made with others. Wherever Rachel was, Bella was right by her side and was her four-legged companion for 10 years. Rachel Lee Miller was united in marriage to Verle I. Johnson on Aug. 2, 1959 in Roxbury, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a son and a daughter, Verle Kevin Johnson and Kristie Lee Johnson.

Verle and Rachel made many memories during their 56 years of marriage, 45 of those years on the farm raising cattle, chickens, donkeys and much more. Two of their favorite activities to do together on the farm were deer hunting and wheat harvest. While Verle was spending hours on the combine cutting wheat, Rachel would be in the kitchen preparing meals to take to the field. She is survived by her children, Kevin Johnson and his wife Rhonda of Dayton, Ohio and Kristie Torgerson and her husband Brennan of Hutchinson, Kansas; her brother Ken Miller of Salina, Kansas. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amelia(Chris) Fisher, Angela (Kaleb) Sortman, Trevor (Helen) Torgerson and Taryn Torgerson, one great-grandchild, Ella Grace Torgerson, with two on the way. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Shirley Unruh and Opal Specker and her two brothers, Robert Tom Miller and Richard K. Miller. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson, Kansas. Bill Dean Williams, 76, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Downs, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center (Overland Park, KS).&nbsp; 

He worked as a welder at Kent Manufacturing in Tipton, KS prior to farming.&nbsp;

Bill was born on December 3, 1945, in Beloit, KS, the son of Dean Harrison and Ida Ann (Leonhart) Williams.&nbsp; 

He graduated from Downs High School in 1962.&nbsp;

 On October 15, 1967, Bill was united in marriage to Carol L. VanWey in Smith Center, KS.&nbsp; Three children were born to this union, Candee, Dana, and Kyle.

Gary N. Connellis, 81, lived a full life on his terms and departed from this life on his terms. He was a proud Brooklyn boy born on February 25, 1941, to Harry and Caroline Connellis. 

He dedicated his life to protect, serve, and connect with every type of person from all walks of life.

 A U.S. Army veteran, he protected our country by repairing and maintaining military helicopters. Upon leaving the military, his goal was to become a fire fighter. Instead, his path led to proudly protecting and serving as a New York City police officer. His integrity and ability to connect with those he was protecting, while building trust, with those he was arresting made way for advancement to becoming a respected detective. A job-related injury retired his 20+ years of fighting crime.

 Greyhound racing, what began as a hobby, transformed into a business venture. Gary left the big apple in 1988 and found Clay Center- the land of Oz- as his new home. GNC Spartan Kennel was where his dream of raising, breeding, training, and racing this royal dog breed was realized. With blue blood running deep in his veins, Gary was led back to public service as a part time Clay County Court Service Officer.

Gary’s gifts were many. He championed the underdog, provided second chances to those who just needed a hand up, and advocated for systemic change for Clay County’s vulnerable. As the greyhound business was being overshadowed by slot machines and casinos, Gary retired his 20+ year dream and hung up his leash from the greyhound business. After years of connecting, listening, and encouraging his clients, he stepped aside from his court service officer role. 

His focus then shifted to managing his own medical diagnoses such as diabetes, A-Fib, weak heart muscles, and recovering from a heart attack all while keeping connected to his community through volunteer service. 

This humble, yet determined, Greek/Italian man did not allow anything to dim the mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He passed on this twinkle to one adult daughter and three adult sons from his first marriage. Filling the role of stepdad to his second wife’s two adult daughters, he was pleasantly surprised by the twinkle in the eyes of his youngest adult stepdaughter who proposed an adult adoption. Proudly displayed on his home office wall is the 2015 legally recognized adult adoption certificate of his then 38-year-old daughter.

In 2021, Gary was tasked with the hardest case of his life. The perpetrator was identified as chronic kidney failure with an accomplice named diabetes. Hitting the highway three days a week to Marysville for dialysis treatments was his new routine. The last year was a battle hard fought with his troops by his side including the Clay Center Public Transportation program, his family, and many friendships he cultivated in Kansas. 

He made it clear that his wish was to die in the home he worked hard to create, sleeping, and surrounded by his wife, his son Peter, and daughters Caroline and Julia. On October 6, 2022, his wish was granted as he heard Caroline’s voice that morning, heard Peter’s voice that afternoon, and had the love of his wife and Julia surrounding him as he napped in his recliner where he took his last breath. He lived a full life on his terms and left this life on his terms!

Gary was preceded in death by his younger brother, Peter H. Connellis; father Harry Connellis; and mother Caroline Connellis.

 Gary’s legacy will continue through his surviving spouse Miriam (Mimi) Fonseca of Clay Center, KS, and four biological adult children: daughter Caroline M. (Connellis) Morris and son-in-law Jim, Milford, PA (3 granddaughters and one grandson); son Gary V. Connellis, Nyack, NY (1 granddaughter); son Peter Connellis, Milford, PA (1 granddaughter); son Matthew J. Connellis, Milford, PA (2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter); stepdaughter Michelle (Vargas) Rivera and son-in-law Alex, Bangor, PA (2 granddaughters and 1 grandson); and adopted daughter Julia C.F. Connellis (1 fur granddaughter-dog and 1 fur granddaughter-cat), Topeka.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 29, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church located on 6th&nbsp;and Clark in Clay Center. Services begin at 11:00 a.m. with an opportunity to share your fond memories with lunch served in the parish hall.

Carl West, age 58, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022 at the KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on August 10, 1964 in Salina, Kansas to Raymond C. and Sally K. (Jackson) West.

In his youth Carl attended school in Salina, Kansas and after moving to Clay Center he attended Clay Center Schools.

Carl was a cook in the cafeteria for Mount Joseph Senior Village for 20 years, serving great food for the residents.&nbsp; Carl also worked as a cook for Bobbie and Dots and the Thunderbird Motor Inn, both of Concordia, for many years.&nbsp;

He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.&nbsp; Most of all Carl enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by many.

Carl is survived three sisters, Annie Desmarais (Dave), Clay Center, KS; Marie White (Jim), Concordia, KS; Christine Hartley (Don), Clay Center, KS; three brothers, Robert Jordan (Patty), Kokomo, IN; Jeff West (Leslie), Indianapolis, IN; Mike West of Concordia, KS; the staff and residents at Mt. Joseph Senior Village; best friend Vonda Clemons, Concordia, KS; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Sally, brothers Jerry Jordan, David West, Nelson Johnson, Charles Nash, Ray Nash, Everett West.

Harlin Jay Timmons, Sr., 64 of Solomon, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022. He was born February 9, 1958 in Salina, the son of Warren James and Marva Lea (Rice) Timmons. 

On May 18, 1990 he was united in marriage to Rosemarie “Rose” Gabel in Salina. She preceded him in death July 23, 2009.

 Jay worked as a grounds keeper for the Salina Country Club for over twenty years, retiring in 2017. 

Jay is survived by his daughters Melissa Timmons and Amber Keil and two sons, Jay Timmons JR and Walker Timmons; grandchildren Brittney, Damion, Autumn, Tyler and Bennett; and great-granddaughter Adalynn; two sisters, Peggy Hawk and KLynn Green; and one brother, Marvin Timmons. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Rose and two brothers, Dennis and Pete. 

Graveside services for Jay will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Father Peter O’Donnell officiating. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-7 p.m., at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene.

SALINA —&nbsp;Raymond Dale Macey, 90, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 in Salina, KS.

Raymond was born April 25, 1932 in Topeka, KS to Raymond T. Macey and Doris Hatherly Macey. 

He graduated from Topeka High School and entered the U.S. Navy serving with the P2V squadron. During his time in the Navy, he participated in the atomic test of the Kwajalein and Enewetak atolls. 

After his honorable discharge, he joined the Kansas Highway Patrol achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He then joined the Kansas Bureau of Investigation where he served as a Special Agent and conducted polygraph testing for the State of Kansas.

He married the love of his life, Barbara Anne Milne, on Valentine's Day in 1957 in Junction City, KS. They remained sweethearts for 65 years. To this union were born Susan, Linda, and Michael. The center of his life was the love of his wife, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

With his 33 years of law enforcement experience, he enjoyed spending time with fellow officers and colleagues. His other hobbies included, cruising (especially to Tahiti), visiting casinos, watching Court TV, listening to Western music, and eating a lot of Mexican food.

He is survived by his "sweetheart" Barbara; children Susan Reiff (Don) of Salina, Kansas, Michael Macey (Sue) of El Pescadero, Baja California Sur; sister Ann Douglas of Topeka, KS; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, and beloved daughter Linda Kay Robison (Doyle).

Raymond wished to be cremated with no services but with a message to his friends and fellow officers to listen to Johnny Cash and have a shot of Jack Daniels in his honor.

Carol J. Harrison&nbsp;passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Holiday Resort in Salina, Kansas. She was born on March 27, 1927 to Charles and Fannie (Lentell) Francis.

She married Don Harrison in 1947 and together, they had 72 wonderful years until his death in 2019. 

Carol was active in her church, First United Methodist Church, for many years playing the piano for many Sunday school children. She enjoyed travelling, camping, cooking, writing, and entertaining family and friends.

Carol is survived by her children L.J. Harrison of Snowflake, AZ, Carla (Steve) Eshleman of Salina, and Linda Lagroon; four grandchildren, Dan (Petey) Eshleman, Corey (Rhonda) Lagroon, Adam Eshleman, all of Salina, and Carly (Adam) Feldhausen of Topeka; and nine great-grandchildren, Avery, Addison, Aaliyah, Kinzley, and Riley Eshleman, Danison and Cale Lagroon, and Jackson and Kellen Feldhausen.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th Street in Salina. 

The family requests memorial contributions be made in care of Ryan Mortuary and will be distributed according to Carol’s wishes.

Shirley Robertson (Walck) was received into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Shirley was born on December 14, 1951, in Garden City, Kansas. 

She graduated from Salina High School in 1969. Shirley was a resident of Salina her entire adult life. 

She married Loren Robertson on February 14, 1971. Together they shared the joy of raising two wonderful children. 

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of almost 52 years, son Chad (Becky) and daughter Kori (Alan), and her grandchildren whom she adored. She is also survived by a sister, Melvina Galliart; a brother, Lyman Walck, and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jim Trimble, Robert McCrae and Richard Walck.

Shirley loved children, opening her own daycare in 1973. It was a joke that if given the opportunity she would have birthed her own football team. She continued caring for children until diagnosed with cancer in 2010. She leaves behind numerous daycare "adopted" grandchildren, whom she loved very much.

Shirley was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother devoted to her family and friends, a humble woman always putting others before herself. She loved witnessing her faith in Jesus at every opportunity and was a member of Faith Bible Church.

Many years ago, Shirley began emailing a daily devotional to family and friends as a way of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. She received numerous names from others, many unknown to her, requesting they also be added to the list of recipients. Shirley was also a prayer warrior. When a name went on her prayer list was not removed until she was told to remove it.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Tammy Walker Cancer Center in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas 67401.

Shirley was an inspiration to all whom she met. Her witness and daily walk with God kept her feet steady leading others to Christ Jesus.

Taylor and his wife Tracey of Agura Hills, California; her sisters Susan Johnson and her husband Bill of Arizona and Virginia of California; her brother Clyde Baldwin and his wife Sadie of Lucedale, Mississippi;&nbsp;sister Virginia, of California. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Grace Sivley, Robert Burke, Derek Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Jessica Taylor and her ten great-grandchildren. Through the years Loren worked as farmer and stockman for over 50 years. He previously had worked as a lineman for the City of McPherson. He enjoyed driving draft horses, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his friends and family, especially his kids and grandkids. Loren L. Stubby was united in marriage to Josephine "Jo" Guy on September 3, 1960 at McPherson, Kansas. She died on April 23, 2005. He is survived by his children Kendall Stubby of McPherson, Kansas, and Teresa Bowman and her husband Mark of Alliance, Nebraska; his sister Helen Saylor of Newton, Kansas, and his brother Jerry Stubby and his wife Sharon of Inman, Kansas. Susan “Susie” Kummer passed away on Oct. 16, 2022 after battling cancer since Nov. 2020. 

Susie was born on May 1, 1953 in Woodbine, Kansas. She was the daughter of Lowell and Helen Hettenbach. She was the second of five children. She had two brothers, Paul and Bruce. She had two sisters, Mary and Karen. Her family moved to Abilene when she was a young child. 

As a child, she was involved in Girl Scouts and the Sand Springs 4-H Club. In high school, she babysat for neighborhood children and worked at Tasty-Freeze in Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School in May of 1971. 

On July 18, 1971, she married John Kummer of Chapman, Kansas at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene, Kansas. She and John had three children, Jennifer Bisel (Dave) of Topeka, KS, Johnny Kummer of Shawnee, Kansas, and Jimmy Kummer (Kim) of Ottawa, Kansas. 

She worked in the Chapman High School cafeteria for many years as well as helped on the farm and building a new home after the family had a house fire in 1990. 

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and children. Her hobbies were gardening, flowers and quilting. She enjoyed helping her children with their 4-H projects and school activities. 

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John, her three children and five grandchildren, Danica, Ella, Evan, Ethan and Jacob. She is also survived by her brother Bruce and her two sisters. 

Her brother Paul preceded her in death. The family will have a visitation on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Danner Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Danner Funeral Home in Abilene, KS. There will be a lunch at Abilene Community Center at 12:00 p.m. Graveside interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Junction City, KS at 2:00 p.m.

SALINA -&nbsp;Virginia Ade, 105, passed away peacefully in Salina, Kansas on Sunday, October 16, 2022.

Virginia was born on July 19, 1917.&nbsp; She was the daughter of Harry and Hazel (Meyer) Mason.

She attended Pleasant Hill School and graduated from Abilene High School.&nbsp; She worked at Duckwalls in Abilene.&nbsp; After graduating, she taught at Scotia School, which was located just west of Holland, KS for four years.

Virginia married Ezra Ade at the First Baptist Church in Carlton, KS on May 14, 1939.&nbsp; They were married for 71 years before Ezra’s death.&nbsp; They lived and farmed in the Carlton area for many years before moving to Salina. &nbsp;

Virginia was an active member of the Carlton Baptist Church doing local, association, regional, state, and national church work.&nbsp; She was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the American Baptist Women’s Ministries.&nbsp; 

Ezra and Virginia traveled a lot, visiting many Christian Centers, schools, colleges, children’s homes, churches and missionaries doing church work.&nbsp; Virginia worked with the youth of the church, as she served two years as sponsor at the World Involvement Congress, the Baptist Guild Girls Conference, and 14 years as counselor at the Citizenship Seminar at Rock Springs 4-H Camp.&nbsp; 

Virginia and Ezra also traveled the country as Virginia served the Dickinson County Farm Bureau as the County Woman Chairman.&nbsp; She was named 5th District Woman Leader of the year in 1974 in which she served 14 years.&nbsp; She was a member of State Youth Power Committee working with Ag in the classroom. &nbsp;

Virginia and Ezra served as community and project leaders of the Carlton Trailblazers 4-H Club for over 40 years.&nbsp; The Kansas Commission on the Bi-Centennial of the United States Constitution recognized Virginia for special service and dedication to the citizens of Kansas in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.&nbsp; She was also a member of the Carlton E.H.U. &nbsp;

Virginia was a very talented person.&nbsp;&nbsp; Combining Ezras’s wood working and Virginia’s painting, they had participated in many art and craft shows.&nbsp; Virginia initiated the establishment of the community and senior citizens center in Carlton.&nbsp; She was a member of the Retired Teachers, Republican Women, Christian Women, National Association of Tole and Decorative Painters, Home Circle Art Club, Kansas Authors Club and was historian of family, church, school and cemetery.&nbsp; She painted pictures, wrote music and poems, played the piano and organ.&nbsp; She also began a memorial service for the Woodlawn Cemetery in which is still going on today.&nbsp; Virginia, Ezra and their son, Dennis, would travel to various states just to search for family members.&nbsp; Virginia always enjoyed entertaining neighbors, family, and church friends.&nbsp;&nbsp; She spent many hours helping cut quilt squares, helping young girls learn the basic cooking and baking skills.

One of Virginia’s biggest accomplishments was the chairman on a committee of five, who spent hours on writing and putting together the Carlton Area History Book which included the towns of Carlton, Elmo, and Holland, all of Dickinson County.&nbsp; The book was a big success and is still being used today because it not only contains the history but also information for the areas listed.&nbsp;&nbsp; She also played a big part in making the Gypsum History book. &nbsp;

Virginia was a woman of great faith, a loving wife, parent,&nbsp; and a wonderful aunt.&nbsp; When Ezra and her lived at the farm, every night she would take her beloved dog, Deva, and walk down the lane and raise her arms to the heavens and recite the bible verse, Psalm 121: 1 &amp; 2.&nbsp; “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.&nbsp; My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra in 2010, her parents, and sister Frances Haney.

Survivors include her son Dennis L. Ade, Salina, KS, formerly of Hutchinson, Ks and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday, October 24, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Gypsum,&nbsp; KS.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.&nbsp; There will be no visitation. &nbsp; &nbsp; Memorials may be made to the Community Foundation of Dickinson County in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St., Salina, KS 67401.

Patricia “Pat” Gail Sprout, 82, of Delphos, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 in Minneapolis, Kansas.

Pat was born in Salina on May 7, 1940 to the late Ray and Ella Marie (Sanborn) Belden.

She worked at both the Strand and Fox Watson Theaters before becoming a nurse’s aide at Asbury Hospital.

She met Earl W. Sprout on November 20, 1961 and they married December 24, 1961. They moved to Texas where they lived almost 45 years and came back to Kansas in 2005.

Pat is survived by her sons David Sprout (Karyn) of Colorado, Mark Sprout of Kansas; granddaughter Jackie Jeans of Auburn, California; brother Richard Belden (Barbara) of Bennington, Kansas; sisters Sandra Dresser of Salina, and Connie Brown of Oklahoma; sister-in-law Erma Sprout of Salina; several nieces, nephews, and stepgrandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Earl Sprout; her parents; brother Kenneth Belden, and sister Peggy Carson.

Graveside services will be on Friday, October 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Cemetery, New Cambria.
