Thelma Louise O’Harro peacefully went to be with her Lord and savior on Thursday, December 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at the youthful age of 97.

Thelma was born to Homer and Florence Hill (Marzolf) in her childhood home in Glen Elder, KS on March 14, 1925. 

She met the love of her life, Max O’Harro, after a blind date set up by her sister and they were united in marriage a few months later on June 2, 1946, at the homeplace. Together they had a life full of love and were an inspiration to all.

In 1962 they welcomed a beautiful angel into this world, their daughter Patricia “Patty,” and a few years later they were blessed with another inspiring soul, their second “daughter”, Geraldine “Geri.” Thelma’s life was one of pure joy and love that reached out to so many people in the world.

To say that Thelma loved and was loved by the whole village would be an understatement. Thelma never met a stranger and if you ever had the chance to meet her, even just once, you were considered her friend. Aside from her group of admirers, her greatest pride and joy was her daughter. Patty, like her mother, had a huge heart, never met a stranger, and cared for people endlessly. 

Patty gave Thelma and the world three handsome boys. Thelma cared for and loved her grandsons as if they were her lifeline, because in her eyes, they were. The adoration and support she gave them through her life was one of infinite quantity. After the earth-shattering loss of Patty in 2014, her grandsons became her everything. In addition, Thelma was also graced with many great-grandchildren. She made it a priority, until the last two months of her life, to attend all their sporting events, recitals, and school events. She loved to watch them, cheer them on and see her daughter reflected in them.

When going to “Grandma’s” house, you were guaranteed to be doted on and stuffed with either candy, her homemade Rice Krispies treats, Oatmeal Crème Pies, cheese and crackers or any other sweet treats she had on hand. She would say she made them for the kids but anyone that knew Thelma, knew she had a hearty diet of anything most would consider “unhealthy.”

The core memories her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will hold near and dear to their heart is her sense of humor, her very specific grocery lists from the nearest Dollar Store, her toddler-sized portions of food, how she liked to keep her home at near sauna-like temperatures, her love of wine, the sound of the local Beloit radio station playing on her radios in every room, her fear of missing out and wanting to be wherever the party was, her reasoning for not being afraid of the COVID virus because she had survived the dust storms, her two showers a day, the daily laundering of her clothes and sheets, her aversion to baths, her frugal and stubborn personality, the largest smile she would give when someone would walk in the door and her unending support. But the thing her family will miss most is her smile, wave, and kiss blowing as she stood at the doorstep watching her loved ones drive away until she couldn’t see them anymore.

Thelma was a very active and devoted resident of Glen Elder. Everyone in Glen Elder and the surrounding towns knew her and the impact she had on the community. She and Max built, owned, and ran the Tasty Freeze that they later renamed as the Glen Elder Drive Inn for several years. Together they started and owned the O’Harro Hardware &amp; Sundries Store and eventually ran the Sportsman’s Café. Thelma and Max were an entrepreneurial power couple. 

In addition to her many businesses, Thelma was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, served as a Pink Lady at the Mitchell County Hospital for many years and was most proud to be a life member of the Glen Elder Christian Church. Thelma and Max had a profound passion and devotion for the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member for over 65 years and was very proud of this major life accomplishment.

Thelma was preceded in death by her loving husband Max in 1996; her parents Homer and Florence; her beautiful daughter, Patty; and her siblings, Evelyn, Orville, Alma, and Lola.

Thelma is survived by her “daughter” Geri of McPherson; three grandsons, Boe (Staci) Soden of Niles, Christopher (Moria) Soden of Denton, TX, and Patrick of Canton;&nbsp; “granddaughter” Stephanie (Jeff) Wedel of Moundridge; nine great-grandchildren, Payton, Joshua, MacKenlee, Baylee, Dylan, Tricia, Dawson, Ella, and Koehn; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 16 at the Glen Elder Christian Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. with family present from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. 

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.

Darlyne M. Kieffer, age 89, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the Fern's Place Home Plus in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born in Rice, Kansas on May 19, 1933 to Henry and Ruby (Naillieux) Cook.

Darlyne attended rural country school during her youth in the Rice community.

On June 16, 1953 she married Albert C. Kieffer at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.&nbsp; To this union, five children were born, Jason, Gary, Dennis, Marcia and Mary.

Albert preceded her in death on December 18, 2013.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.

Darlyne was a homemaker and also worked for the Sisters of St. Joseph at the Nazareth Motherhouse in their housekeeping department for many years.

Darlyne enjoyed cooking, gardening, and most of all, taking care of and spending time with her family.

Darlyne is survived by her five children, three sons, Gary Kieffer of Baldwin City, Dennis (Stephanie) Kieffer of McPherson, Jason Kieffer of Wichita; two daughters, Marcia (John) Holesovsky, Mary (David) Short, both of Wichita; three grandchildren, Caitlin Gorges, Colton Short (Isabella), Alexis Kieffer; two great-grandchildren, Harlan Gorges and Aryonn Knighten; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, parents Henry and Ruby, and brother Norman Cook.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp; A rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, evening at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.&nbsp; Family will receive friends after the rosary service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Kansas with Fr. David Metz officiating.&nbsp; Interment will follow in the St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.

Janette attended school at North Side High in Ft. Worth, Texas.

She worked as a phlebotomist and in the health care industry for many years until her retirement in January of 2012.

Janette enjoyed sewing, country music, shooting pool, dancing, bowling, and most of all, spending time in her home.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Allred, Concordia, KS; Michell Thompson and (Chris), Ft. Worth, TX; granddaughter, Camri Tidwell, Ft. Worth, TX; her three grandchildren, Isaiah, Genesiz, and Isaac; a brother, Norman Garrison and (Carol) Ft. Worth, TX; and many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Martha, son-in-law Billy Allred, and her favorite aunt Uvie Vincent.

It was Janette’s wishes to be cremated and the family will have a Celebration of Life service at a later time.

Carol A. Schrader, 63, passed away unexpectedly December 6, 2022, at Abilene Memorial Hospital. She was born January 14, 1959 in Junction City, KS, the daughter of William G. and Faye Ione (Pearson) Matthews. Carol graduated from Junction City High School, Class of 1977.

Following graduation, she started her career in civil service at Fort Riley, KS, retiring after numerous honors and promotions in 2018, with 43 years of service. 

Carol married her soulmate, Kevin Schrader, soon after high school, and they eventually settled northeast of Abilene, KS in 1983. They celebrated 44 years of marriage in July. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded by her sister and best friend, Linda (Matthews) Martin, her brother Billy, and her sister-in-law Vickie Matthews.

Surviving, in addition to her husband Kevin, are son Matthew Schrader, daughter Kari (Schrader) Berlin and her husband Ronald, three grandchildren, Wyatt, Riley and Ryder, her brother-in-law Logan Martin, brother Kenny Matthews, brother Steve Matthews and his wife Collette, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. A celebration of remembrance will be held at a later date and arrangements are being made by&nbsp;Londeen-Overlease Funeral Home in Chapman, KS.

Amy Nicole Gutierrez was born January 5, 1973 in Grand Island, Nebraska the daughter of Jerry and Aleta (Stout) Olsen. 

She graduated from Abilene High School and from Missouri Western State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Amy was a receptionist at Dipoto Counseling Group. Previously she was a social worker in the Kansas City Area.

She enjoyed her family especially her nieces and nephew, going to movies, going out to dinner, and bunnies. On December 27, 2009, Amy was united in marriage to Jimmy Gutierrez in Kansas City, Missouri. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her parents Jerry and Aleta Olsen of Platte City, Missouri, sisters Holly Olsen of Smithville, Missouri, Meghan Marsh and her husband Jared of Platte City, Missouri, her nephew Nicky Edwards, and her nieces Delaney Edwards and Olivia Marsh.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Bernice and Merle Stout, Harold and Marie Olsen and her cousin Ryan Stout. Funeral services for Amy will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2022 at the Danner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – service time Friday also at the funeral home. Her final resting place will be in the Rose Meron Cemetery near Longford.

Gary Gene Cox, 80 , of Abilene passed away December 10th, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in&nbsp;Abilene. He was born October 26th, 1942 in Abilene, the son of Joe Henry Sr. and Gladys June&nbsp;(Shane) Cox. 

Gary grew up in the Hope area, attended local schools and graduated from Hope&nbsp;High School in 1960. 

On June 9th, 1962 he was united in marriage to Patricia Herbel in Abilene.

Gary worked for the Abilene Fire Department for 23 years and then worked as head custodian&nbsp;for USD 435 until his retirement. 

He was a member of the Abilene Elks Club, Eagles Club, and&nbsp;the Cabin Club. 

Gary was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. 

He is survived by his loving wife Patricia of the home; three daughters,&nbsp; Barb&nbsp;Karraker (Devin) of Abilene, Bev Stillwagon (Rick) of St. George, Kansas, and Becky Stout&nbsp;(James Jr.) of Abilene; grandchildren Hannah Wilcox, Kayleigh Karraker, Hayden Karraker&nbsp;(Jillian), Courtney Jenkins (Jacob), Breanna Boucher (Tanner), Tristan Stillwagon, Sarah Hoerner (Trey), Sydney Stout, Savannah Stout, and Samantha Stout; great-grandchildren Malakai and&nbsp;Maddix Wilcox, Ryleigh Karraker, Marlo Karraker, Sawyer, Ryann, and Baylor Jenkins, and Kinzley Boucher.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; stepmother Ava Cox; two brothers and their wives, Joe and Joyce Cox and Danny and Linda Cox; stepbrother Max&nbsp;Wendell, and niece Kelle Enger.

Memorial Services for Gary will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday December 16th, 2022, at the Abilene First Christian Church. Inurnment will follow at the Hope&nbsp;City Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Danner Funeral Home.

William Stanley Hall (Bill) 77, died peacefully at home, on December 13, 2022. He was born January 17, 1945, in Medora, Indiana, the son of John Taylor, and Mable June (Hanner) Hall. Bill grew up in Jackson County, Indiana attending local schools.

In 1962, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam. Bill received honorable discharge in 1965 and returned to Fort Riley, Kansas where he was stationed. Bill started his family in Kansas; soon thereafter as well as his career and businesses that followed. He worked on the Santa Fe Railroad and drove a semi-truck over seven million miles during his time employed. Bill also owned and operated a tree service in Abilene, where he ultimately relocated to after his return from service. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Elmer (Medora, Indiana), John Marion Junior, sisters BettyLou, Jereldean, his daughter Angela Adamson (Abilene), and his grandson Jeremy Graber.

Bill is survived by his son Wade (Robin) Hall of Abilene, Anita (Eric) Jackson of Salina, Brandon (Shawna) Hall (Topeka), and Bobbi (Scott) Middleton of Montgomery, Texas, stepson Justin (Amy) Rutz of Abilene, 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Chelsea, Miranda Kae, Laurel, Saxon, Cameron, Kennidee, Clyde, Talon, Brody, Megan, and Madeline, six great-grandchildren Trevin, Journey, Braylen, Knixson, Atticus, and Kashton, brother Ray Hall of Sedan Kansas and many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Danner Funeral Home with Pastor Lindsey Brummer officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Carmen Catherine Palmer-Tower, 94, of Abilene, went to be with her heavenly father on December 12 2022. Carmen was born January 13th, 1928, to Floyd and Ola Boll in Concordia, KS.

After high school she attended Miltonville College in Miltonville, Kansas and graduated with an elementary education degree. While in college she met Rev. Richard James Palmer. They later married on June 18th, 1953. They went on to have three children, Richard Keith Palmer, Sharon Kathleen Palmer-Shaw, and Michael James Palmer. After her late husband passed away in 2009, Carmen spent her remaining years with her husband John Tower. They married November 9th, 2019. As a couple, they went to McDonald’s every morning and enjoyed coffee with their friends. They also enjoyed traveling throughout Kansas going to mom and pop restaurants and watching TV together. Carmen was predeceased by her parents Floyd and Ola Boll, her late husband Rev. Richard Palmer,&nbsp; son Keith Palmer, and three sisters, and one brother who died at birth.

Leona M. Graham, 92, of Salina, passed away Saturday December 10, 2022.

Leona was born on April 10, 1930, to Frank and Agnes (Herrman) Klaus in Liebenthal, KS.

She moved to Salina in 1950 to go to Brown Mackie College. She met and married Wilbert J. (Bill) Graham on June 26, 1951. Bill precedes her in death.

Leona first worked for KSAL radio. She then was self-employed working from home rebuilding and refurbishing furniture while her family was young. After her daughters were grown, she worked for St. John’s Military School and later St. John’s Hospital/Salina Regional Health Center where she retired in 2006.

Leona was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and avid golfer and taught/coached junior golf at the Elks Country Club for many years. She loved the game until her health no longer allowed her to play.

She is survived by two daughters Tari Piskac (John) Manhattan KS, Diane Jayne (Ron Dawson) Salina KS., and three grandchildren, Steve Wilson (Juli) Salina KS, Taegan Jayne, Salina KS, Tish Schneider (Evan) Kdena, Okinawa, Japan, and great grandchild Finley Wilson, Salina KS.

A private family memorial service will be held.

Terry worked for North Supply in Overland Park, Kansas for 12 years before she retired in 1992. Prior to that she owned Mode O' Day clothing store in Herington, Kansas.

After retirement, she and Ozzie moved to Salina, KS.

She is survived by her two children, John Sherman of Florida and Beth (Frank) Vinson of Salina, two granddaughters, Melissa Mollach and Emilee (Cassandra) Vinson, and three great-grandchildren, Alecia, Avery and Eliza.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ozzie Sherman, and her mother and father.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 16th at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina, KS.

Marion Elaine Pugh, 97, passed away on December 14, 2022, at Stafford County Hospital in Stafford, Kan. She was born on January 25, 1925 in Chase, Kan. to William and Julia (Gockstetter) Revel. On January 14, 1943, she married Roy Arthur “Art” Pugh in Chase, Kan. He passed on October 6, 2005.

An area resident since 1946, Elaine worked as telephone operator in her younger years before becoming a homemaker. She was a very accomplished artist, especially in oil painting, sharing her talent through teaching art at the Great Bend Rec Center, Art Inc., Barton Community College, and the Cabin, and enjoyed her garden.

Survivors include a son, Randy Pugh of Stafford, Kan.; two daughters, Diane Adams of Mulvane, Kan., and Lexie (Mike) Weiser of Salina, Kan.; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Rodney Pugh; a grandson, Christopher Pugh; her parents; six brothers, Willis, Glen, Stanley, Wade, Donnie, and Ronnie Revel; and a sister, Bonnie Frazier.

Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Bryant Funeral Home. Michael grew up in Bavaria on the family farm where he passed.

He worked construction for many years. Later in life he helped his 
father, Duane, maintain the family farm. Michael found joy working with 
his hands as a carpenter, landscaper, and a gardener. Spending time with
 his four grandsons was a blessing to him. Whether it was attending one 
of their sporting events, or music concerts, or simply just sitting and 
being "Papa," they were his pride and joy.

Michael will be dearly missed and always remembered. Michael was 
predeceased by his father, Duane and his mother, Edna Mae. He is 
survived by his wife of 48 years, Robin, his children Ryan (Anna) 
Cook-McCall, Andria (Kevin) Lilley, his grandsons Kayson, Lyrik, 
Anderson and Halden, his three sisters, Rachel, Alice and Ellen, and 
many more extended family members who are left to mourn his loss.

Cremation was chosen. Visitation will be December 20th with the 
family present from 4-6pm at&nbsp;Roselawn Memorial Heights, 1920 E. 
Crawford, Salina

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 am on December 21st at Roselawn Memorial Height Chapel, 1920 E Crawford, Salina.

Harry was born in Kinsley, Kansas on November 12, 1926, to Edna Florence (Strube) and Harry Clifford Reinecke.

Harry served in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII serving in Manila, Philippines.

On
 March 3, 1951, Harry married Imogene Mathews in Eureka Springs, 
Arkansas.  To this marriage were born two daughters, Kathy and Ann, and 
two sons, David and Scott.

In 1961, Harry opened 
Harry’s Body Shop in Greensburg, Kansas, which he operated until his 
retirement in 1990.  Along with the body shop, Harry ran a wrecker 
service and to coordinate with the Kiowa County Sheriff, was a deputy 
with the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office.  Harry passed his knowledge of 
auto body repair and painting on to his sons who both worked for him 
while growing up.

Harry and Jean enjoyed square dancing
 and Harry loved playing town team basketball, and was an avid bowler. 
Harry was a long-time volunteer with the Kiowa County Fire Department 
serving as Treasurer for many of those years.  He loved fishing and 
hunting and he passed that love on to his sons.  Harry helped coach 
girls’ softball for a few years and got to coach his daughter, Ann.  He 
never missed any of his kids’ or grandson’s school or sports events. 
Later in life, Harry took up golf and enjoyed golfing with his son, 
Scott, and his grandson, Alex.  He always had time for his kids.

After
 retirement, Harry taught himself woodworking and over the years created
 many projects for family and friends and his own enjoyment.  He 
volunteered at the Greensburg High School shop class where he loved 
helping the kids with their projects.

Harry was an avid
 reader throughout his life, and especially enjoyed a good western and 
anything history.  Harry loved his family and his community. He always 
had a smile on his face and a joke to tell.  He will be missed.

Survivors
 include his wife, Imogene Reinecke, Salina, Kansas; two daughters, 
Kathy Staples (Ron), Salina, Kansas, Ann Rhea, Wichita, Kansas; son, 
Scott Reinecke (Susan), Salina, Kansas; one grandchild, Alex Reinecke,

Harry Edwin Reinecke

Born in Downs, Kansas, November 2, 1952. Her parents, Alvin and Eileen 
Otte, were wheat farmers continuing in the tradition of Alvin’s family. 
Carol’s older siblings Linda and Ken, and younger sister Jan, moved to 
Salina, Kansas, in 1961. If you had asked Carol, this is where she grew 
up. She lived in Salina until she was 29. 
Along with her first husband Carol gave birth to her first daughter, 
Cari Anne, on March 14, 1972. With the help of her Mom, Carol returned 
to work at the investment firm IDS. For recreation Carol and Cari 
enjoyed motorcycle touring with her Mom and Dad, and other family 
members. (Her last bike was a full-dress, shaft-drive Honda CX-500 that 
had been modified by her Dad for one of his bi-annual Arctic Circle 
motorcycle trips.) 
Carol’s younger sister Jan, living in Lawrence, Kansas, set up a 
blind-date for Carol with someone Jan’s husband played with on a 
recreational softball team. That was May 9, 1981. Jeff Sanders was her 
date’s name. They were married just 4 months later on August 14, 1981. 
Several weeks after they were married, Carol moved to Olathe, Kansas 
where Jeff was employed. 
Carol gave birth to her second daughter, Arla June, on August 13, 1982. 
(This was one day short of their 1st Wedding Anniversary.) 
Carol was employed at Grinsted Products while residing in Olathe. In 
1991, Carol and Jeff agreed to a relocation because of Jeff’s work that 
took their family to Mt. Juliet, TN, just outside of Nashville. Cari 
chose to stay in Olathe to begin her own family with David Morgan. 
Carol enjoyed working at Mt. Juliet Chiropractic for the next 11 years. 
From 2002 to 2006 life meandered from Tennessee, to Kentucky, and then 
to New Hampshire in March 2006. They remained there until their 
retirement in July 2016. Retirement led them to again relocate, but this
 time it was not because of work. Instead the purpose of this move was 
to be near kids and grandkids. This brought Carol absolute joy! 
Starting in Tennessee Carol advanced her crafting skills, especially 
making Christmas cards for her daughters and herself using an 
ever-expanding collection of Stampin’ Up stamp sets. Not only was she 
really, really good at this, but enjoyed this as her 2nd favorite 
pastime, next to her grandkids and great-granddaughter! She delivered 
most of this year’s set of cards the day before she passed away. 
Carol is survived by: Her loving husband for 41 ½ years Robert Jeffrey 
(Jeff) Sanders, residing in Fortson, GA daughter Cari Anne Morgan, and 
husband David, residing in Fortson, Georgia, granddaughter Bailee Eileen
 Walsh, her husband Andrew great-granddaughter Elsie James Walsh 
granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Morgan grandson Adam James Morgan 
granddaughter Jillian May Morgan and Daughter Arla June Bell, and 
husband Jeffrey, residing in Seaford, Virginia granddaughter Lily Grace 
Bell and grandson Garrett Edward Bell; her sister Linda Struchen, and 
husband Don, residing in Marion, Iowa and her brother Kendall Otte, and 
wife Dixie, residing in Osage Beach, Missouri and sister Jan Henry, 
residing in Lawrence, Kansas.

Carol Lee Sanders (Otte)


Lynda Faye Lohf, 59, of Hutchinson, died November 24, 2022, at
Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born on December 14, 1962, in
Hutchinson, to Brenda (Borth) Lohf. 


Lynda was a
graduate of Beloit High School in 1981.  She worked as a home painter
and was very skilled, never spilling a drop. Lynda was also very
artistic and a talented drawer. She loved her two cats, Ennie and
Meenie, and they were a great comfort to her in difficult times. 


Lynda is survived
by: mother, Brenda Martin (Charles), Hutchinson; brothers, Ray Lohf,
Hutchinson, Rob Lohf, Salina, Scott Lohf, Chesterfield, Kentucky; and
many beloved nieces and nephews. 


She was preceded
in death by her father, Gary Lohf and daughter, Shanna Lohf.

Cremation has
taken place. The family will announce plans for services at a later
date. 


In lieu of
flowers, memorial are suggested to the Lynda Lohf Memorial Fund, in
care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
