Joseph Leo Jaster, 95 of Concordia, Kansas passed away Wednesday February 22, 2023 at North Central Kansas Medical Center. He was born June 1, 1927 in Leavenworth, Kansas the son of Otto C.&nbsp; and Lillian (Wahler) Jaster. 

He was the youngest of five and the last remaining member of his family, preceded by his siblings Clarence, Gertrude, Loretta, and Wilford.

He graduated from Immaculata High School in Leavenworth and was drafted into the Army Air Corps at the end of the war. On discharge he owned and operated a tobacco store in Enid, Oklahoma. 

He moved to Concordia, Kansas and began working for the Gambles store and after “love at first sight,” he married Alice Marie Landry, Sept 14, 1953. He worked and then managed Gambles stores in Salina, Abilene, Ottawa, Beloit and Eldorado, Kansas. They moved to Concordia in 1968 after he had already began traveling Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Oklahoma, representing the wholesale furniture company Blackwell’s in Kansas City until it closed. He continued to work in many other areas of sales in Salina and Concordia till retirement.

Joe loved telling stories and bowling and continued to bowl until he was 94, and did not ever stop telling stories. He also loved trimming trees and yard work. He was especially proud of growing dahlias many of which he inherited from his father.&nbsp; He became an excellent table tennis player when in the service and loved playing and doing so well until his 90s.

He and Alice have five children, Angela Jaster of New Orleans (LA), Diana (Dick) Bieker of Concordia (KS), Paul Jaster MD of Salina (KS), Julie (Dino) Brichalli of Topeka (KS), and John (Brenda) Jaster of Auburndale (MA).

Joe is survived by his wife Alice, 89, (now living at Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde, KS where they moved last year) and all of his children with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Joe and Alice were married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Concordia, KS and were members since 1968 when the family moved back to Concordia.

Memorial service to be announced at a later date. Burial at St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.

Jeffery D. Munz, age 68 of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away at his 
home in Great Bend on Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2023.&nbsp; Jeffery 
was born on March 30, 1954 at St. John, Kansas to Karl and Ruby 
(Lambert) Munz.&nbsp; 

He served in the U.S. Army, and received his Bachelor’s
 Degree in Accounting from the University of Kansas and his Master’s 
Degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.&nbsp; He 
moved to Great Bend in 1983 from Westport, Kansas City, Missouri and 
worked as Accountant for Lee Turner and Turner Farms in Great Bend, and 
Dechant &amp; Taylor Chartered Accounting in La Crosse, Kansas, prior to 
his retirement in 2016.&nbsp; Jeffery enjoyed traveling and taking 
photographs, hunting, gardening, carpentry, and loved to play Bridge.&nbsp; 
He was an avid K.U. Jayhawks Basketball fan.

Survivors include one son, Samuel (&amp; Tayler) Munz of Wamego, 
Kansas and one daughter, Lucy K.M. Munz of Essex, Vermont; two 
grandchildren:&nbsp; James and Madeline Munz; his partner Janet Oberle of 
Salina, Kansas; two brothers:&nbsp; Juan (&amp; Belinda) Munz of St. John, 
Kansas and Rev. Jerry (&amp; Joyce) Munz of Lakeland, Florida; one 
sister Jodine (&amp; Douglas) Trout of Osceola, Missouri; one 
brother-in-law Chuck Theel of Olathe, Kansas; nine nieces and nephews, 
many great-nieces and great-nephews, and countless friends.&nbsp; Jeffery was
 preceded in death by his parents and one sister Julie Theel.

According to his wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Memorial 
Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the First
 Congregational Church in Great Bend with Reverend Mike Munz 
officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow at Trinity Cemetery near Hudson, 
Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 
2023 at Charter Funerals in Great Bend.&nbsp;

John D. Smutz Sr., 97, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023.&nbsp; He was born March 11, 1925, on a farm in Pawnee City, NE to William Walter and Esther Amelia (Bennett) Smutz.&nbsp; 

He attended grade school in a one-room country school in Pawnee City, NE.&nbsp; He received his formal education at the University of Nebraska. He was a member of ATO fraternity, Northwestern University and Penn State, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in architectural engineering.

John was a candidate at the Marine Corps Academy at Quantico, Virginia, and received his commission.&nbsp; He served in the Marine Corps during WWII and later in the Korean War, as a rifle platoon leader.&nbsp; 

While stationed at a Naval Ammunition Dept. in Virginia, he met his future wife, Helen, a secretary at the munition plant.&nbsp; 

Shortly thereafter, John was transferred to a NAD in Hastings, Nebraska, for release to inactive duty.&nbsp; Helen joined him later, and they were married in Pawnee City, in 1946.&nbsp; 

After returning from Korea, he and his family moved to Salina, where he was in partnership with Shaver Architects and Wilson &amp; Co. Engineer and Architects.&nbsp; John designed churches, schools, and buildings throughout the country, including several in Salina.

John was a lifetime member of the VFW, the American Legion, and a charter member of the Marine Corps League, a longtime member of Salina Country Club and First Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; He was also an instrument and commercial-rated pilot with over 7,000 hours of flying time in nearly every type of aircraft, including his company’s twin engine King Air.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.

He leaves his wife of nearly 77 years, two daughters, Susan Timbrook (Dan), Sharon Guettermann (Norm); two sons, John Jr. (Alta) and Kenny (Stacey); nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, February 26. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 27, all at Ryan Mortuary.&nbsp;&nbsp; Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Frank Lynn Bean, 72, died unexpectedly February 20, 2023.&nbsp; He was born July 14, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Frank Buford and Betty Berniece (Gennetten) Bean.&nbsp;

Frank graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969, Hutchinson Community Junior College in 1971, Pittsburg State University in 1973, and received his Master’s Degree from Emporia State University in 1975.&nbsp; Frank was a passionate coach who lived and breathed coaching.&nbsp; He enjoyed all types of sports, but helping athletes excel in football was his favorite.&nbsp; Above all, Frank loved his family unconditionally.&nbsp;

Frank’s coaching career started June 1978 when he was the assistant football coach at San Francisco State University, until January 1982.&nbsp; He continued coaching in various locations and for multiple teams in the USFL, Los Angeles, CA, and at Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; Frank then began his coaching career at Garden City Community College and Garden City High School.&nbsp; While coaching at Garden City High School, he was fortunate to coach his two sons, Mitchell and Braden.&nbsp; Frank ended his coaching career at Wichita East High School and Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School, Wichita.

Frank grew up at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and was currently attending Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He had a strong faith, and a stronger sense of humor.

Frank is survived by:&nbsp; daughter, Ashlee (Jose) Guillen of Hutchinson; sons, Mitchell Bean of Fayetteville, AR, and Braden Bean of Austin, TX; children’s mother, Rebecca Martinez of New Braunfels, TX; his mother, Betty Bean of Lawrence; sisters, Sharie (Dave) Mueller of Oskaloosa, KS, and Cindy (James) Nelson of St. Paul, MN.; and five grandchildren, Elizae Guillen, Navaii Guillen, Audden Guillen, Brilin Guillen, and Damien Sandoval.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. March 4, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery and Pastor Steve Baughan officiating. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

Daniel Ray Randall, 73, of Culver, passed away Monday, February 20th, 2023 and was an organ donor. He was able to donate his corneas.

Dan was born in Marshall, Missouri on October 16, 1949, a son of the late Edna E. (Godfrey) and Harold W. Randall.

Dan served in the United States Army and received the National Defense Service Medal as a sharpshooter.

He worked for the railroad in California until the line was closed, then he went to Alaska to work on the pipeline. He lived in Hawaii for a short time and came back to the states to be a truck driver and ended up in Missouri. He volunteered to help update the original Salina Rescue Mission when it was on North 12th St. and ended his career on 3rd shift, New Bakery at Tony's Pizza.

He was adopted by the Inscho Family and spent his retirement in the city of Culver, enjoying mowing and his cat, Jinx.

Cremation was chosen and services will be announced later.

LINCOLN Julia Ella Bell Bland, 90, of Lincoln, KS died February 18, 2023 at Haysville, KS. She was born November 3, 1932 to Jesse Earl Bell and Lillian Mary (Johnson) Bell in Salina, KS.&nbsp;

Left to celebrate her life include daughter Mary Hunt (Donnie), Belle Plaine, KS; sons Samuel Bland (Wendy), Orono, ME; John A. Bland (Marcia), Tigard, OR; Paul Bland (Lendi), Americus, KS; Mark Bland (Melissa), Conway, AR; Charles Bland (Rebecca), Claremore, OK; sixteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Rev. John W. Bland, and brothers Derriel Bell, who died in infancy, and Gail Bell, who died in 1950 at age 22.

She attended school in Salina, KS, graduating from Washington High School in Salina in 1950. Following high school, she enrolled at Baptist Bible College, Springfield, MO and attended one year.&nbsp; 

While there she met Rev. John W. Bland and they were married in Salina on October 21, 1951. As the wife of a minister, she was very involved in the many churches he pastored, often playing the piano and doing children’s sermons for the services. 

She was also a talented professional artist; she was prolific in ink, prints, and watercolor and oil paint and her work hangs in many homes, churches, and places of business around Kansas. Many of these paintings are displayed in wooden frames that she crafted. She also taught art classes part time to community college, high school and middle school students.&nbsp; Earlier, she was employed by various photographers for whom she colorized portrait photographs with oil paints before color prints became common. &nbsp;

In addition, she was a published author and illustrator of eleven original books of children’s sermons that were based on material she developed and used herself in her own children’s sermons. The children’s sermons from her books are used in churches around the country.&nbsp; 

She was skilled in the kitchen, and among the many delicious dishes that she put together, she specialized in pies which she sold to restaurants who in turn put them on their menus.

She was a wonderful mother whose love and prayers were profoundly felt by many but felt most of all by her daughter and sons.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2023 at Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, KS.

Wilbur graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1951. He served in 1-W service following high school in Denver for two years. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Christian. Wilbur had his private pilot’s license and was a member of the Flying Farmers of America, and the Moundridge Flying Club and McPherson Flying Club. He was a lifelong farmer. Wilbur was united in marriage to Hazel Mae Heil on June 17, 1956 at Lind, Washington. She survives of the home. LORRAINE Rodney D. “Rod” Rolfs, 82, passed away on February 15, 2023, at Berkley West Healthcare Center in Santa Monica, CA. He was born on December 7, 1940, in Ellsworth, KS, the son of Roland John Rolfs and Violet Ruby (Wuthnow) Rolfs of Lorraine, KS.

Rod graduated from Lorraine High School in 1958 and from Bethany College in 1962 with a degree in music education. He continued his education at Northwestern, receiving a M.A. degree in music history, and at the University of Chicago, receiving a M.A. degree in library science. He worked for 37 years at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles first as music cataloger and then as music librarian.

Rod was a member of the of the First Baptist Church of Lorraine, KS. He had a love for opera, theatre, art, travel, and spending time with his friends. He will be remembered as a gentle, private, caring person.

Betty Maxine Spellman, daughter of J. Howard and Anna (Smith) Morley was born on a farm in Clay County, Kansas, October 5, 1927, and died at her home February 19, 2023, at the age of 95.

Betty and her brother Les were raised and attended grade schools in the Oak Hill community and the Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, where their mother played the piano and taught Sunday school.

Betty graduated in 1945 from the Clay Center High School.&nbsp; She could have gone to high school in Longford but wanted to take some secretarial classes not offered there, so opted to attend Clay Center. She (like a few others) rented a room with a family while attending classes during the week and occasionally was able to go home for the weekend.

After graduation she at first worked for V. R. Vergades Insurance Company and then for attorney Elmer Anderson.&nbsp;

Betty married Dale Edward Spellman Sunday December 14, 1947, at the First Presbyterian Church, Clay Center, Kansas before Sunday school.&nbsp; The planned wedding date had been set for a few days later, but they moved up the nuptials to hopefully squelch any mischievous pranks Dale’s friends had in mind, and off to Kansas City for their honeymoon.&nbsp;

At first, they shared a two-story house with two other families.&nbsp; The young Spellman couple walked in the front door and up the stairway to the second floor where they had two private rooms which consisted of a bedroom and a kitchen/dining/living area. They shared a refrigerator in the hall, and the door to the bathroom they shared was also in the hall.&nbsp;

In March of 1949, they moved to a family farm east of Clay Center where they spent the rest of their lives engaged in farming, dairying, raising their two children and enjoying their five grandchildren.&nbsp; They retired in 1992.

Betty was involved in the community.&nbsp; Serving as a leader in the Hayes Boosters 4-H Club, was a member of one of the county Extension Homemakers Units, the Hayes United Methodist Church and Hayes United Methodist Women, and was a Red Cross Volunteer including writing up the news for the Dispatch.&nbsp; After the Hayes Church closed in 2009, she transferred her membership to the Clay Center United Methodist Church where she became part of the Alla Sera Cluster and the Piloteers Sunday School Class.&nbsp;

Betty had many talents and gifts.&nbsp; She enjoyed sewing, rock hunting, embroidery, ceramics, macramé, traveling, bus trips, genealogy and visiting cemeteries, flower arranging, gardening, bird watching, and feeding the birds, squirrels, quail, and the occasional stray cat. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with family and friends.&nbsp;

One of the downfalls of living to the age of 95 is out living many of your friends and family members.&nbsp; Another one of her gifts was the ability of making new friends.&nbsp;

Betty was preceded in death by her infant daughter Virginia Ann, her mother Anna, her husband Dale, her father J. Howard, and her bonus-mother Dorothy; her sisters and brothers-in-law Earl, Irene, Bob and Irma; and her bonus sisters Betty, Ruth Ann and Janice.

Betty was loved and her life is celebrated by her daughter Linda and husband Dallas Cunningham; son Mark and wife Teresa Spellman of Clay Center; granddaughters Lindsay and husband Simon Sun of Olathe and Gena and husband Chad Abernathy of Raymore, Missouri; grandsons Scot and wife Elizabeth Spellman of Wamego; Jason and wife Mandy Spellman, and Cody and wife Nicole Spellman of Junction City; great-granddaughters Anna and husband Dillon Eyer of Boise, Idaho; Mollie Spellman of Wamego; and Addyson and Remington Spellman of Junction City; great-grandsons Logan and Luke Sun of Olathe; Benjamin Spellman of Wamego; and Chase and Easton Spellman of Junction City; her brother Les and wife Jodie Morley of Bartlett, Tennessee; her childhood “like a sister forever friend” Lorene Fengel of Abilene; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors, and friends.

Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Clay Center, KS

Burial: Ebenezer Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 23, at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home

Marjorie May Chamberlin of Chapman passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the Chapman Valley Manor in Chapman at the age of 84. She was born February 6, 1939 at her home near Chapman, the daughter of Wesley and Lela (Gloss) Sautter.

She attended the Winsor one-room grade school and graduated from the Dickinson County Community High School.

Marjorie married John Chamberlin in 1957 and they established their home north of Chapman. They had four children, Michael, Patricia, Randall, and Rodney.

Marjorie drove a school bus for U.S.D. 473 and was a member of the Alida United Methodist Church. She served her church in various ways, being a youth leader and Sunday School teacher. 

Marjorie enjoyed bringing laughter to people with her humorous story telling. She attended as many of her kids', grandkids', and great-grandkids' activities as possible over the years.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband on September 28, 2021, her great-grandson Reed Mulanax, and her parents. 

Marjorie is survived by her son Michael (Janice) Chamberlin of Paxico; grandchildren Kimberly (Jimmy) Kummer - Evan, Ethan, Jacob: Joshua Chamberlin: Rebecca (Marcus) Mulanax - Mason and Kinsley, daughter Patricia (Tony) Rice of Wilsonville, NE; grandchildren Travis (Christie) Rice - Elizabeth and Morgan: Ashley (Cody) Gerlach - Micah, Asher, Silas, Hadley and Harlyn: Whitney (Todd) Stithem- Ellory, and Huxley: Catlin (Rachel) Rice –Jett, Cruz: son Randall (Kathy) Chamberlin of Chapman; grandchildren Sonya (Jim) Corrigan - Haley and Kylie: Stacey (George) Vazquez- Emerson and Eleanor: Stephanie (Heath) Gfeller -Clara and Gracen: Lyle (Kristen) Chamberlin: Abby Chamberlin: son Rodney (Emily) Chamberlin of Chapman; grandchildren Kendra (Mike) Marston - Connor, Khloe and Colin: Wade Chamberlin – Bentley, stepsister Joyce Montgomery.

Funeral services for Marjorie will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Chapman United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Alida Zion Evangelical Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-7 p.m., at the Chapman United Methodist Church. 

The family suggests memorials be given to the Irish Foundation for scholarships and may be dropped off at the church during visitation hours or the day of the service or mailed to Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 411, Chapman, Kansas 67431.&nbsp;&nbsp;

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sarah, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend. Sarah was born on March 4th, 1986, in Emporia, Kansas, and she passed away unexpectedly on February 15th at the age of 36. Sarah had a rich and complex life, full of love and laughter, but also of challenges and struggles.

She was married to JW for 14 years, and together they had three children: Jake, Emily and Alice. Sarah was a devoted mother who always put her children first, and she loved spending time with them, watching them grow and supporting them in their passions and dreams. Sarah also had another daughter, Hailey, from a previous marriage to Brandon Long, who survives her. Sarah’s father Stephen and her sister Celeste will deeply miss her presence and her bright spirit. Sadly, Sarah was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth, who passed away some years ago. Sarah was a paraprofessional for USD 437, where she dedicated herself to supporting and helping children with their education. She was kind and patient person who had a gift for connecting with children and her colleagues and students alike admired and respected her for her hard work and dedication. In her free time, Sarah loved attending concerts and listening to music, playing video games, and spending time with her beloved cats. She had a special talent for finding joy in the small things in life and spreading that joy to those around her. Sarah’s sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of her family and friends, who will always remember her loving and generous spirit, her contagious laughter, and her unwavering strength and resilience. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Leonard was born in Orange County, California on October 1, 1973, a son of Maxine Marie (Gray) and Kenneth Fishburn.

He was a heavy equipment operator for KDOT.

On January 30, 2004, Leonard married Amber Falasca in Salina.

Survivors include his wife Amber Fishburn of the home; two daughters, Taylor Fishburn, Abigail Fishburn; son Kenneth Fishburn, all of Salina, Kansas; three sisters, Georgiana Jewell (Gary), of Salina, Kansas, Anita Martin-Fishburn (Glen), of Red Bluff, California, Paula Fishburn-Arroyo, of Vallejo, California; brother Michael Fishburn of Modesto, California; and numerous extended family members.

A Celebration Gathering will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2nd at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home &amp; Crematory in Salina.

Phyllis Lorene Gardenhire 82, of Salina, passed away, Friday, February 17, 2023.

She was born March 29, 1940 in Oakley, Kansas to the late Laurence and Leona (Tinsley) Jones.

She had worked for Westinghouse/Phillips Light as a lamp group operator for 40-plus years before retiring.

Phyllis will be remembered as someone who loved to cook, crochet and play gospel music on her organ; she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents Laurence and Leona (Tinsley) Jones; her beloved husband Thomas O. Gardenhire, her sons Thomas Odell Gardenhire, Jr. and Alan Ernest Gardenhire; three sisters, Billie Gardenhire; Valerie Cooley and Margaret Ann Kirtley; two brothers, Gene Jones and Jesse Jones.

Survivors include her daughter Marla (Thomas) Humphrey of Salina, sisters Ernestine Kendrick of Kansas City, KS, Donna Bouknight of Denver, Darlene (Lumas) Kendrick of Denver, Jewell Emanuel of Boulder; Brothers: Larry Jones of Denver, Terry Jones of Savannah, GA; sisters Cindi Houston, Roxanne Johnson and Chris Ukoha all of Denver; brother Tommy Jarmon of Denver; grandson Thomas Alan Max Humphrey of Salina.

Phyllis Gardenhire

Cheryl Ann Turley, 72, was born Cheryl Ann Criswell in Ellsworth, KS on 
December 25th in 1950, and passed away in her Park City, KS home with 
her daughter by her side on February 17th, 2023. 
She was a 1969 graduate of Medicine Lodge High School, and attended Salt
 City Business College from 1969 to 1971. Earning her degree as a 
certified Legal Secretary. She was well-read and even more so, 
well-versed. She strived with speed at any keyboard or typewriter, and 
was very skilled in the art of shorthand. She married Dennis Mayfield in
 Medicine Lodge, KS in 1971. Later divorcing in 1974. During her time in
 Milwaukee, Wisconsin she gave birth to her adored first-born son, Jason
 Matthew in February of 1972. She later married Delmar Turley in Scott 
City in 1976. Divorcing in 2009. Tyson Jay, her much loved middle 
child, was born in December of 1979 in Scott City, and the inseparable 
love for her daughter Shareena Kay, came in November of 1986 also in 
Scott City, KS. 
She lived in many places throughout her life including: Wilson, Salina, 
Medicine Lodge, Scott City, Park City, Odessa, Amarillo, Des Moines, and
 Milwaukee, but she never lost her deep love for the State of Texas. Her
 time at Odessa’s Permian High School, is among her most favorable 
memories, when she was Adonis Tri-Hi-Y, and a Pepette in the school’s 
Pep Club. She often recalled all the wonderful memories and life long 
friendships that were made during her senior year at Medicine Lodge, and
 was especially fond of her Texan childhood and the precious memories 
made on Patton Drive in the Permian Basin. 
Her time as a para and computer teacher at Shallow Water and Healy 
schools, as well as, her near decade of service as the friendliest face 
at Wendy’s were, and will always be, cherished by many. She enjoyed 
traveling with friends and family to California, The Dakotas, Missouri, 
Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Tennessee, Florida and many other places 
along the way. She often spoke of wonderful memories around music and 
dances. Was a natural born story-teller and especially enjoyed having 
long conversations with her closest friends and family. She would talk 
with you through anything, and was always a listening ear. Giving 
counsel to so many throughout her lifetime. Every single person that met
 her, fell in love with her adorable, bubbly, joyous personality. Her 
favorite past time was reading about angels, mysteries, or just about 
any novel. She enjoyed several genres, but mostly loved delving into 
scripture, and spending time with the Lord. Most important to Cheryl, 
was her unconditional love of Jesus Christ. 
She is preceded in death by her father Darrel Leroy Criswell 1920-1997 
and her cherished mother Edith Mae (McCoy) Criswell 1926-2016. She will 
be forever held in beautiful memory by her three beloved children, whom 
she dedicated and gave all of her love and her life to: Jason Turley of 
Colwich, KS; Tyson Turley of Dighton, KS; Adam and Shareena (Turley) 
Schiffelbein of Park City, KS. Her precious grandchildren: Jessica Jo 
(Turley) Carter of Wichita, KS; Ashley Marie (Turley) Thornburg of Great
 Bend, KS; Taylor Nicole (Turley) Berry of Wichita, KS; Terance Jay 
Turley of Bismarck, ND; Logan Cordale Turley of Dighton, KS. One 
great-grandchild Jaxon Matthew Carter (born 2-20-2022). As well as her 
dear sisters whom she loved so very much all throughout her life: Doug 
and Diane (White) Simpson of San Antonio, TX; Tom and Carolyn (Criswell)
 West of Scott City, KS; and Mary (Criswell) Comba of Scott City, KS. 
Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 
All are welcome to attend. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am 
Saturday February 25, 2023, in the Calvary Cemetery of Leoville, Kansas, 
with Pastor Darrin Hammond officiating. Visitation will be held on 
Friday February 24, 2023, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at Garnand Funeral Home
 in Garden City, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the

Cheryl Ann Turley

Paula Jo Wilson was born December 3, 1953, in Abilene, KS, to the 
late Paul Edward &amp; Pauline Bethel (Kohart) Hazelton.  She died on 
Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at her home in Davis, OK, at the age of 69
 years, 2 months, and 2 days.  Paula and Earl Dean Wilson were married 
on December 16, 1984, in Abilene.  He preceded her in death on September
 18, 2009.

Paula grew up in Abilene.  Following her 1971 
graduation from Abilene High School, she attended Fort Hays State 
University, in Hays, KS.  After college, she spent a few years working 
in hotel management, where her main job was coordinating conventions. 
While working in this field, Paula was fortunate to meet several 
well-known celebrities, professional singers, and musicians.  After 
leaving her position in convention coordinating, she spent five years 
working in hotel software logistics.  This position allowed her to 
travel about, assisting with the opening of new hotels.   After she and 
Earl married, Paula became a full-time mom.  She spent her time caring 
for her children and being active in Cub Scouts, PTA and many other 
interests that her children had.

Paula and her family 
moved to Oklahoma in 1995, where she continued her role as a very active
 mother.  Once the children were older, she attended East Central 
University in Ada, OK, where she earned a Bachelors degree in nursing.  
After graduating from ECU, Paula became employed with Mercy Health in 
Ardmore, OK, where until only a few months prior to her death, she 
worked as a registered nurse in the ICU.

Paula was 
known to be extremely creative. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and 
tutoring children with their reading skills.  Paula was also very active
 with the Pathway Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday School 
Superintendent for several years, as well as taught Sunday School 
classes.  Her desire to serve God, allowed her to witness to others, 
bringing many to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior, just as she
 knew him.

Survivors include her daughter, Rebekah Wilson 
of Davis; three sons, Erik Wilson of Davis, Paul Wilson &amp; wife Regan
 of Stratford, OK, and Neil Wilson &amp; wife Allison of Healy, KS; five
 grandchildren, Genesis, Jericho, Neo, Tyndale and Jay Wilson; three 
sisters, Judy Kohardt-Hazelton &amp; Jamie Davidson of Abilene, and 
Ellen Locke of Newton, KS; and one brother, David Hazelton &amp; wife 
Becky of Hutchinson, KS.

In addition to her parents and husband, Paula was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Riffel.

Funeral
 services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 
the Pathway Methodist Church, in Davis, OK with Pastors Ben Williams and 
Robert Harrison officiating.  Interment will follow at the Green Hill 
Cemetery in Davis.

Serving as pallbearers will be members of the Pathway Men’s Breakfast Group.

Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis, OK.
