A crowd of drivers were making noise and "runnin' what they brung" for the 2025 KKOA Leadsled Spectacular.

on Friday, drivers from all over the country brought their best custom hot rods to see how they matchup with others for the annual 'Run What Ya Brung' race for KKOA. Rex Walker, a participant of the event talked about his experience after racing.

"You go on ahead, come out here, run what ya brung and just put the metal to it," said Walker.&nbsp;

Before the participants would take off to race, customs would wait their turn patiently in lines. One of those who waited patiently was Cole Jaderborg, and he gave his comments on his feelings before going into the race.

"Hopefully I do pretty good, there is a lot fast stuff this year and it keeps getting faster every year," said Jaderborg.

The 2025 KKOA Leadsled Spectacular continues Saturday, July 26 - Sunday, July 27.

Salina will be under a 'Flood Watch' that takes into effect Thursday evening and into Friday, July 25.

According to the US National Weather Service, on Thursday Salina has been a issued a 'Flood Watch' for this evening. Reportedly, heavy rainfall is expected to develop into the afternoon and becoming more widespread overnight, with rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour possible.

Be aware on the roads as 'Flash Flooding' is likely, according to the US National Weather Service.&nbsp;The highest flooding risk period will occur from late this afternoon through Friday morning.&nbsp;If water begins rising near your location,&nbsp;immediately seek higher ground. 

Saline County Emergency Management states that the main concerns are low water crossings and low-lying areas, where it's difficult to see the shoulder of the road. Drivers should exercise extreme caution, especially in areas known to flood frequently.

Saline County Emergency Management has listed the flood stages for certain areas:

Mulberry Creek near Salina:&nbsp;Forecasted to crest above flood stage at 24.75 feet overnight. Exercise extreme caution around waterways and low-lying areas.

Smoky Hill River near Mentor:&nbsp;Expected crest at 17.87 feet, nearing moderate flood levels. Avoid areas prone to flooding.

Smoky Hill River near New Cambria:&nbsp;Projected crest at 23.59 feet tonight, causing minor flooding. Monitor conditions and be prepared to move to higher ground.

Everyone is encouraged to stay alert and monitor weather conditions closely.

'Flood Watch' issued in Salina for Thursday evening, heavy rainfall expected in the afternoon

Another round of storms are anticipated to occur on Wednesday evening, after the flooding from Monday evening.

According to the US National Weather Service (Wichita, KS), a round of storms are anticipated for Wednesday evening with the best chances occurring across central Kansas. Reportedly, the strongest storms may produce wind gusts near 60 mph and heavy rainfall.

Salina is depicted to have a 30-60% chance of storms for Wednesday night.

LINCOLN COUNTY &amp; SALINE COUNTY - The US National Weather Service (Wichita, KS) has issued a flash flood warning for northern Lincoln County until late Monday evening.

According to the US National Weather Service (Wichita, KS), north Lincoln County is under a flash flood warning until 11:45 pm. Reportedly, radar is estimating 4 to 6 inches of rainfall across northern Lincoln county between Barnard and Lincoln.&nbsp;The storms are nearly stationary with more heavy rainfall likely.

The US National Weather Service stated this flash flood warning is a "very dangerous flooding situation" and to not drive in flooded areas. They are advising people to report any&nbsp;flooding problems to local officials.

According to the US National Weather Service, northwest Saline County is under a "high risk" of flash flooding,&nbsp;especially near the town of Glendale with slow moving thunderstorms producing 4 to 5 inches of rainfall.

Saline County Emergency Management advises people in the Saline County area to stay home during this flash flood warning. Saline County Emergency Management has stated the following:

Avoid low-lying areas and roads near creeks or ditches.

Keep headlights on and drive slowly if travel is absolutely necessary.&nbsp;

Please do not risk your safety or the safety of emergency responders.

Flash flood warning issued for northern Lincoln County and high risk for northwest Saline County

The US National Weather Service has issued an 'extreme heat warning' for Central Kansas until Wednesday evening.

According to the&nbsp;US National Weather Service, on Saturday, July 19th an 'extreme heat warning' was issued to be in effect from now until Wednesday evening (July 23rd). Heat indices were reported to be as high as 110 degrees, with high's being over 100 degrees. 

It was reported that humidity will also remain in place through this period, which will make it feel even hotter. Chances of showers and storms could occur through the week, with the best chances occurring on Thursday, July 24th.

The US National Weather Service has left some tips about staying safe during this advisory:

Work outdoors early or late in the day, and take breaks in the shade as often as possible

Check up on the elderly, sick and those without A/C

Never leave children or pets unattended in your vehicles ('look before you lock')

Extreme heat warning issued in Central Kansas until Wednesday evening

The US National Weather Service Wichita, KS has announced that rain and storms are beginning to move east into central Kansas as of 9:45 pm, late Thursday evening.

According to the US National Weather Service Wichita, KS, the strongest storms will be capable of producing up to '60 mph winds and quarter size hail.

The National Weather Services advises to stay vigilant and have multiple ways to receive any updates or warnings.

UPDATE: Storms moving towards Central Kansas late Thursday evening

Thunderstorms are expected to occur on Thursday evening throughout parts of central Kansas.

According to the US National Weather Service (Wichita, KS), scattered thunderstorms are expected to move into central Kansas this evening with a few strong to severe storms possible. The storms are expected to occur around 7:00 pm and likely last till about 2:00 am, early Friday morning.

The National Weather Service encourages to ensure you have a plan if you are outdoors and storms start to approach your location.

Eagle radio/media stations&nbsp;99.9FM KSKG&nbsp;and&nbsp;910AM/107.5FM KINA&nbsp;will be giving live updates on air if necessary.

Thunderstorms expected throughout central Kansas on Thursday evening

The Saline County Emergency Management team continues to monitor severe weather conditions and the associated flood risks, as the region enters an active weather period today through tonight on Tuesday, June 17th.

According to Saline County Emergency Management, the National Weather Service has placed much of central and south-central Kansas, including Saline County, under a 'moderate risk' for severe storms beginning this afternoon and continuing into early Wednesday morning. 

Residents should expect the potential for:

Wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph, tennis ball-sized hail, a few tornadoes﻿ and heavy rainfall that could result in localized flooding overnight.

Saline County Emergency Management also notes that&nbsp;area rivers and streams are forecast to rise significantly.&nbsp;

Mulberry Creek near Salina: Expected to crest near 26.5 feet, reaching major flood stage.

Smoky Hill River near Mentor: Forecasted crest near 24.2 feet, approaching moderate flood stage.

Smoky Hill River near New Cambria: Projected to crest around 30.3 feet, above moderate flood stage.

River levels are currently well below flood stage but are expected to rise rapidly as rainfall moves through the area. Residents in low-lying areas near rivers, streams and creeks should prepare for possible flooding and monitor conditions closely. Saline County encourages residents to not drive through flooded roadways and to always follow official detours and barricades.

Saline County Emergency Management remains in close coordination with the National Weather Service and regional response partners and will provide additional information as conditions warrant.

According to the National Weather Service, these showers and storms will continue through at least 10:00 am on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service also reported of isolated hail up to ping pong size possibly occurred until earlier on Tuesday at 7:00 am with frequent lightning.

Scattered showers and storms for Saline County to continue throughout Tuesday morning  

Multiple rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to take place in southeast Kansas and parts of North Central Kansas.

The National Weather Service has issued a forecast calling for multiple rounds of thunderstorms and heavy rain from Friday, May 23rd through Sunday night, May 25th. Thunderstorms are anticipated to occur periodically throughout Russell, Hutchinson and Salina till 3:00 pm and a second round after 7:00 pm on Friday. Very low chance of thunderstorms to occur for Saturday.

Areas such as Chanute and Coffeyville are on a "flood watch" from Friday till Sunday night. Salina is in the "low rainfall" amount range for this weekend.&nbsp;Although confidence is highest for flooding in southeast Kansas, Saline County residents should still remain alert. The risk of severe storms today and again Sunday night makes early preparation critical.

The National Weather Service recommends people to closely monitor weather alerts and prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Rainfall totals over the next 72 hours could lead to hazardous travel and localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and intersections with poor drainage.&nbsp;

Saline County announced that the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has closed&nbsp;K-4 at Gypsum due to water on the roads.&nbsp;

According to Saline County, the road will reopen once the waters recede.

Saline County has given safety recommendations when traveling on roads that may be wet:

TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN - never attempt to drive through flooded roads.

Know your risk. Check if your home or workplace is in a flood-prone area.

Have an emergency kit ready with essentials: water, food, medications, flashlight, batteries, and important documents.

Stay out of floodwaters. They can hide debris, downed power lines, or dangerous currents.

Avoid walking through moving water; as little as six inches can knock an adult off their feet.

Secure outdoor items that could become airborne due to high winds.

Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather, especially if snow reduces visibility.

KDOT closes K-4 at Gypsum due to water on the roads

LINDSBORG - Bethany College is proud to announce the return of sideline cheer, launching with the 2025–26 academic year. Leading the program is newly appointed head coach Patricia Smith, an experienced educator and cheer coach.

Sideline cheer will return to Bethany’s home football and basketball games, bringing renewed energy and spirit to campus life. With a focus on building a team from the ground up, Coach Smith will work closely with current students and new incoming students this fall to establish a strong foundation for the program.

Coach Smith brings a blend of musical education and athletic leadership to her new role. Originally from Lansford, North Dakota, she holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory of Music and currently teaches vocal and guitar at Bennington High School. Over the past three years, she also coached the Bennington High School cheer squad. Smith lives in Salina and, outside of the classroom and gym, enjoys playing pickleball and building with Legos.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Patricia Smith and launch sideline cheer," said Laura Moreno, Dean of Athletics. "We know firsthand the positive impact sideline cheer brings to the game day atmosphere, student experience, and Swede spirit campus wide. Coach Smith's experience as a local high school cheer coach, as well as her enthusiasm to build sideline cheer at Bethany, will greatly benefit the process of launching a team and bringing immediate energy and engagement to campus."

Coach Smith will be on campus during new student check-in on August 8th in the Student Union to meet with interested students. She will also be present during the first few weeks of the semester to help build awareness and enthusiasm. An open house for the program is currently being planned, with details to be announced soon.

Recruitment efforts are underway for students interested in joining the cheer team in spring 2026 and beyond.

Salina Police are actively investigating an alleged burglary that happened at an auto repair shop, as several items were reported 'stolen.'&nbsp;

According to the Salina Police Department an employee of the 'Carb Shop' (215 W. Lincoln) reported of an alleged burglary that took place at the business between the timeframe of July 23rd, 7:00 pm - July 24, 7:00 am. The employee stated when they arrived on July 24th to open at 7:00 am, they noticed 'a door was slightly open' with 'obvious signs of forced entry.'

The employee also reported of several items that were stolen. Those items included:&nbsp;

Welding equipment, two gym bags, black welding helmet (designed with wings), credit card terminal and an OTC vehicle scanner.

The total loss was valued at $2,095. No suspect(s) were identified at this time.&nbsp;

Several items reported 'stolen' from an auto repair shop, investigation ongoing

LINDSBORG - Five new exhibitions open at the Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery on Sunday, August 3, and continue through October 19, 2025. They feature&nbsp;Practical In Her Art: Women Artists of the 1930s; paintings by Karen Matheis of Lawrence, prints by Juana Estrada Hernandez of Providence, Rhode Island; mixed media works by Harley Elliott of Salina; and Swedish art from the Gallery’s permanent collection.

A reception for the exhibitions will be on Sunday, August 3, from 2 to 4 p.m., with exhibition talks beginning at 2:30.

Despite the challenges of the Great Depression, the decade of the 1930s was a dynamic time for art making in Kansas. Right along with the men, women artists worked tirelessly to keep the visual arts alive during those challenging times – teaching, traveling for professional development, and blazing trails for new endeavors including art therapy programs and artists’ unions.&nbsp;<a></a>For this exhibition, curators around the state have collaborated to highlight the careers of key Kansas women artists and the progress they made enlarging the field. The show includes work by Mary Huntoon, Margaret Whittemore, Avis Chitwood, Sue Jean Covacevich, Clara Hatton, Norma Bassett Hall, and Anna Keener.

Karen Matheis’ exhibition,&nbsp;Constructive Landscape, explores the reinterpretation of the Midwest landscape with a focus of human interaction with nature. Responding to and building upon past landscape painting, the show will acknowledge the presence of human interaction and bring consciousness to a pressing need to imagine the future in which humans have a sustainable co-existence with our environment.

Previously a student and printmaking professor at Fort Hays State University, Juana Estrada Hernandez currently teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design. For her exhibition,&nbsp;Nuestras Historias&nbsp;(Our Stories),&nbsp;she utilizes her experiences growing up in the US to create prints that addresses social and political problems surrounding migrant communities. Her creative practice stems from a love of drawing, Mexican folklore, culture, and her family’s intergenerational migration stories.

Harley Elliott will be exhibiting mixed media pieces from his&nbsp;Ally&nbsp;series. He began creating the series after a serious health crisis in 2014 and writes, "It’s a matter of recognizing allies more so than wanting allies. Creating some is also good because art is a process of discovery. I might discover an ally within myself that I didn’t know I had." Elliott uses basic materials for creating each work: a 16 by 20 inch illustration board, acrylic paint, Conte crayon, inks, colored pencils, and occasionally a non-traditional medium.

The final exhibition honors Lindsborg’s biennial Hyllningsfest celebration, happening this year on October 17 &amp; 18, by having an exhibition of Swedish and Sweden American art from the Gallery’s permanent collection.

The Sandzén Gallery is located at 401 North First Street in Lindsborg. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free, with donations appreciated. Docent tours for groups are available by two-week advance appointment.

Salina artist featured in new exhibition at Sandzén Memorial Gallery 

The annual KKOA Leadsled Spectacular has officially begun in Salina and kicked off with its beloved "Sundown Cruise."

On a beautiful Thursday evening, the community of Salina gathered to enjoy a night of flashy hot rods, muscles and customs that cruised throughout the streets of downtown. Mike Standley, the one of many who attended the parade commented on the eventful night.

"It is always good to see the cars come into town," said Standley. "The ones that make the most noise are always the best."

The 2025 KKOA Leadsled Spectacular continues Friday, July 25 - Sunday, July 27.

SALINA, Kan. — A $500,000 matching gift from the Augustine family is jumpstarting efforts to launch a Boys &amp; Girls Club in Salina, fulfilling a long-awaited vision for expanded youth services in the community.

The donation, made through the Augustine Family Donor Advised Fund at the Greater Salina Community Foundation, honors the legacy of Ted and Almita Augustine and offers a dollar-for-dollar match to support both the new Club’s startup operations and long-term sustainability.

“This matching gift challenge is a game-changer,” said Lance Patterson, CEO of the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of Hutchinson, which is partnering on the Salina initiative. “It helps us meet the immediate needs to open our doors, while also building the foundation to serve kids for generations to come.”

Every dollar contributed to the endowed “Boys &amp; Girls Club of Salina Fund” by December 31, 2025, will be matched with an equal amount designated for operational support, effectively doubling each donor’s impact. The Club is expected to open by the end of 2025 at Oakdale Elementary School, with plans to offer academic, leadership, wellness, and career-readiness programs. A future facility is planned for the Sunset Park area.

“Our families are excited to support the start of a Salina-based Boys &amp; Girls Club,” said Donna Augustine-Shaw and Mark Augustine in a joint statement. “This initiative connects our parents’ belief in education with a powerful, lasting opportunity for Salina youth.”

The project has been championed by longtime educator Millie Moye, who worked with a dedicated advisory board and local partners to bring the vision to life.

“This has been a dream in my heart for over 20 years,” Moye said. “The Augustine family’s support is lightening the table, so that all children have a spot at the table. That is so profound.”

Dollar for dollar match announced for Boys and Girls Clubs of Salina 

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;– K-State women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie has added an international talent to the 2025-26 roster, as Nastja Claessens from Belgium has signed with the Wildcats.

A forward, Claessens most recently helped the Belgian Senior National Team win the 2025 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket in June. She saw action in six games and averaged 5.2 points on a .529 field goal percentage, including .429 from beyond the arc, 1.8 rebounds and 0.2 assists.

Prior to aiding Belgium in winning the tournament in June, she was a member of the national team at the 2025 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket Qualifiers and played in all four games.

Claessens already holds Olympic experience on her resume, as she was a member of the 2024 Belgian National Team at the Paris Olympics and played in two games. She aided her home country in qualifying for the Olympics during the 2024 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament and carded action in three games.

In April of 2024, Claessens was selected in the third round with the 30th&nbsp;overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics. As an international player, she was automatically eligible for the WNBA Draft in the calendar year of her 20th&nbsp;birthday. Claessens elected not to sign with Washington to keep her options open and to have the opportunity to go to school and play collegiately in the United States.

Earlier in 2024, Claessens played in the FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket and registered seven games of play while notching averages of 17.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

In 2023, she played in four games and averaged 9.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists during the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket Qualifiers. In the 2023 U20 Women’s European Championship, Claessens registered 16.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists in six games.

Claessens also played in the 2022 FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship and notched 16.7 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists in seven games.

In addition to her international experiences, Claessens played with IDK Euskotren in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto in Spain. During the 2025 Eurocup, she played in 10 games and averaged 7.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists including a high of 19 points, three rebounds and two assists against Proteas on November 27.

In league action with IDK Euskotren, Claessens averaged 3.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists.

During the 2024 Eurocup, she played for her hometown club of Castors Braine and averaged 12.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in five games.

(Kristian) Fulton, (Jawaan) Taylor, (Tre) Watson, everybody else is gone and has done a good job. Just a shoutout to Tyrann (Mathieu) for a great career, (Tyrann) Mathieu. What a great career he had. The game will miss him, (will) miss his energy. Definitely an energy giver, a great leader. Hopefully he gets into coaching, because he’d be a heck of a coach if he decides to go that way – he’d be tremendous. But, we wish he and his family all the best going forward here. With that, it’s been great to get out here, get these days in. We’ve had three really good days of work where we get ones against ones, twos against twos, threes against threes, so, there’s some competition there and some good solid work. It’s ramp-up period. We’ve got another day or two of this, and then we start right in with pads on Sunday. So, anyways, with that – time’s yours.”

Q: What was your reaction when you heard Tyrann Mathieu was retiring? What’s his legacy in your opinion?

REID:&nbsp;“Yeah, well, the legacy is great ball skills, great player, great guy, always been a team captain everywhere he’s been at – including here. He got a Super Bowl Championship here and he was a leader on defense. So, I think he’ll leave all that behind, but that’s not even talking about if he chose to do that throughout his career. He probably would’ve set all the records at punt returner. He was tremendous at that. Anyway, I could go on and on about him – the Honey Badger; that’ll be part of the legacy also. He’d sit on the bench there and he’d make all kinds of funny noises. Not only did he have the blonde hair, but he’d be over there (mimics honey badger noises) – making all those noises. What a great kid. Loved coaching him (laughter).”

Q: On Creed Humphrey’s significance to the team.

REID:&nbsp;“Yeah, well, he’s still young. He’s a very good athlete, great balance, ex-wrestler. Great balance and upper-body strength, he’s got lower-body strength. One of the stronger guys on the team, and he’s got a nice feel for the game. Plus, he’s very intelligent.”

REID:&nbsp;“Yeah, I like what I’ve seen. He’s working hard at it. He’s made some big catches out here, working his routes, playing physical in his transition game there. So, just (have) got to keep coming. We’re still young in this thing, so we (have) got to keep bringing it.”

Q: How have Josh Simmons and Jaylon Moore looked in training camp so far?

REID:&nbsp;“Yeah, they’ve done some good things. They’re getting better – they get better and better every day. So, it’s been good that way. Young guys, working. (I’m) looking forward to getting them (Simmons and Moore) in pads. It’s hard to evaluate them doing this, but we’ll see how they do with pads on.”

Q: On early impressions of Jalen Royals.

REID:&nbsp;“Yeah, so, it looks like he’s very smart because we’re in our third install here today. And we load him up with plays, early, and he’s been able to retain a lot of the things – the newer stuff that we introduced to him before and the new stuff we’ve introduced now. So, that’s a good sign. And then, he’s made some catches. You’ve seen it out here, he’s made some catches. And does he have a long way to go? Yeah, well he’s got to keep working, (and) work through all of this and we’ll see how it goes when everything’s flying.”

Q:&nbsp;What have your impressions been of Gardner Minshew so far leading the second unit with him being around the league?

REID:&nbsp;“Yeah, can see that with Gardner (Minshew). You can see that he’s smart, he’s got good accuracy, poise – it’s great to have him here, so we are pleased to have him here and you kind of have a heads up because he’s actually started in games so you kind of know how he handles the pressure in that, so we liked what we saw on tape and I’ve seen the same thing here so he should be fine.”

Q:&nbsp;Are there still moments that you see Patrick Mahomes do something on a day like this and are like, ‘jeez, where did that come from,’ or are you so focused on what’s going on that it doesn’t kick in sometimes?

REID:&nbsp;“I tell the coaches this all the time, ‘You never take that for granted. So, appreciate every one of those throws he (Patrick Mahomes) makes,’ because you don’t get that very often in a career and as a coach. Yeah, absolutely there are times I go, ‘Woah, that was pretty good right there now.’”

Q:&nbsp;After a heavy workload last year, what do you expect out of Kareem Hunt this year?

REID:&nbsp;“You know, he (Kareem Hunt) has had an offseason. He missed two offseasons there, and he had this offseason and worked hard, (and) now he is coming into training camp and he’s in good shape and I would expect good things. He’ll be in there rotating, doing his thing. He’s a good solid football player. Love having him here.”

Q:&nbsp;What are your thoughts on Jake Briningstool bringing him aboard? How valuable is it adding a fourth tight end?

REID:&nbsp;“Yeah, so (General Manager) Brett (Veach) gets the credit for that one. He loved him (Jake Briningstool) and loved what he saw. So far, the kid has done a nice job. Again, let’s see how he does when things get going, but he’s working in there and it looks like the quarterbacks trust him. They’re throwing it

Q:&nbsp;What are the challenges working with two new tackles?

HUMPHREY:&nbsp;“I think just getting the chemistry down with the offensive line, you know? That’s why camp is really good for this, you know? You get a ton of reps in and a ton of looks against (Defensive Coordinator) Spags’ (Steve Spagnuolo) defense, so you know, it’s preparing you all for the season. So, we are excited about it. We got some really good talent in that room right now that is going to bring out some good competition.”

Q:&nbsp;You earned your first All-Pro selection and you were named in the NFL Top 100 Players list this offseason. What does that mean to know that your work is paying off as you earn these accolades?

HUMPHREY:&nbsp;“Yeah, you know it’s obviously a blessing to get those accolades and stuff, but for me it’s just focusing (on) about what you can improve. You can never stop improving, and you can never reach the top. You’re always going to keep improving, you can keep learning, all those things. So, for me, it’s a great feeling getting the recognition and everything, but for me I know there is stuff I need to work on, so you know, I’m hungry. I’m hungry to come out here and grind and get stuff going in training camp. So, it’s been fun. It’s been a lot of fun getting out here and working and grinding.”

Q:&nbsp;When Josh Simmons was drafted a lot of people were talking about his health. What’s the progress that you’ve seen for him to get to training camp and being out here?

HUMPHREY:&nbsp;“Yeah, well you could tell all of OTAs it was something he (Josh Simmons) was working nonstop on it. Making sure he was getting healthy as quick as he could so that was awesome to see. He’s moving really well, playing really well right now. He seems to be fully healthy, and he’s getting after it so it has been a lot of fun to see.”

Q: What are you thinking about as you go into this last year of your rookie deal?

CHENAL:&nbsp;“Yeah, I mean, I try to keep my mind off of it as best you can, that can become an unnecessary stress on yourself and on your shoulders. I just look at, you know, still being selfless, doing what I can for the team. I’m not trying to do too much, still do my job, and do what I can, but at the same time growing and get better.”

Q: How much does Nick Bolton mean to you and the team?

CHENAL:&nbsp;“Oh, he (Nick Bolton) means everything. When he’s on the field, it’s just different. You guys can see it, I’m sure. He’s just, not only (in) his play, his leadership, his loud, bold communication, just his positivity. Like, you go down the list of what a leader is, and you know, everything, it’s like Nick Bolton checks the box. So, it’s just, it gives a boost and like it boosts morale to the whole team and makes everybody play better around him.”

Q: How much pride do you take on special teams and the success that you’ve had on special teams?

CHENAL:&nbsp;“Yeah no it’s huge. Obviously, I’m not, you know, every down linebacker for the most part, you know? I got a certain percentage of snaps, and I’m obviously looking to extend that, but you know, I want to play what I’m playing, I want to be the best of what I can be. Whether it’s punt, kickoff return, SAM linebacker, filling in for buck. You know whatever it is, like we got a good core unit of guys that have been here now on special teams that are leaders, and you know, we’re looking to be better and better. And obviously we got (Assistant Head) Coach (and Special Teams Coordinator Dave) Toub, who’s a legend, so just continue to climb the mountain.”

Q: Did you do anything different this offseason compared to past off seasons to prepare yourself?

HUNT:&nbsp;“Oh for sure. I was more locked in, staying on schedule. Because I didn’t know when I was going to get picked up or when I was going to have the opportunity, or if I was going to have the opportunity to play again. So, I stayed on top of things, this offseason (I) made sure I stayed in good shape from OTAs and just (being) able to keep building on what I’ve already built.”

Q: People in the league say you’re the best short yard running back this offseason. Did you ever think you would ever wear that label? Do you take pride in it?

HUNT:&nbsp;“I mean yeah, I take pride in whatever I do. That’s one of those things – those are big time plays (and) people don’t understand how hard (it is) to get those two or three yards and punch it in. Those keep the drives alive and get us more opportunities to make big plays. So, that’s one of those things I take pride in, and you know, it’s a mindset thing.”

Q: Is there an advantage to being at training camp that you might not have had last season?

HUNT:&nbsp;“Yeah, for sure. It’s definitely an advantage. I get to be around guys who (are) pushing me, guys who (are) challenging me each and every day. Instead of me trying to push myself, by myself, working out and staying in shape and making sure I hold myself accountable, with what I eat and what I do in my off time.”

Q:&nbsp;Any difference in the way Travis Kelce is moving before he hits the pads?
