On Wednesday Rookie Jhonkensy Noel singled home Josh Naylor with the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Cleveland Guardians rallied for a 7-5 win over the Kansas City Royals, reclaiming sole possession of first place in the AL Central.

The Guardians trailed 5-2 entering the seventh, but scored four times to take their first lead of the afternoon. Bo Naylor homered off starter Michael Wacha, while Josh Naylor, Will Brennan and Noel had RBI singles against Lucas Erceg.

KC still sits 2.5 games ahead of the Twins for the second AL Wild Card spot, and two games back of the Baltimore Orioles for the top spot. This comes with just nine series’ left in the season

More locally the Kansas Wesleyan Coaches Luncheon Series returns for the 2024-25 season with an updated format and locations.

The first luncheon will be at held on campus inside Muir Gym on the KWU campus, on Thursday, September 5, at 11:30 a.m, and will feature the fall sport coaches - Matt Myers, Garrett Young, Joe Schwartz, Bruce Palmbaum and Jessica Biegert. Additionally, any new coaches and staff to the KWU athletics program will be introduced.

And speaking of Kansas Wesleyan  the Everett Morgan Strength Training Center - will host a soft opening on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 1 p.m. after undergoing extensive renovations over the summer
