Winter weather advisories have been issued in advance of the storm forecast to hit the area later today.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. Thursday for the following counties in our area.
Ellsworth County
Lincoln County
Marion County
McPherson County
Saline County
Snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches forecast. Additionally, winds are forecast to gust as high as 35 mph.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the early morning commute. The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
Travel on Interstate 70 will be affected by the snow, blowing snow and occasional strong cross-winds, making travel difficult and hazardous tonight.
Slow down and use caution while traveling. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves if you have to be outside.
The National Weather Service in Hastings, Neb., has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from noon Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday for the following counties in our area.

Snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches.
Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Blowing and drifting snow could reduce visibility at times.

Snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches forecast. Isolated snowfall amounts of 3 inches are possible.
