Lions District 17A invites public to Salina event April 28

The Lions District 17A convention next month in Salina will have an entertainment and food component that is open to the public.

"Happy Days" is the theme of the district's convention on April 28-29 in Salina. Lions District Governor Richard Webster told Salina Post that District 17A is comprised of 73 clubs and more than 1,500 members from northeast Kansas.

The public event is scheduled for 2-6 p.m. April 28 at City Lights Stage, S. Santa Fe Avenue and W. Ash Street. Those attending are asked to bring their own lawn chairs and enjoy entertainment and a parade. Saddle Jack's Bar B Cue food truck will be on hand.

In addition to the parade, the event is to include a Fonzie look-alike contest, best cheerleader outfit, and classic vehicles.

Scheduled events also include the following.

3 p.m. Par Four Barbershop performance

3:30 p.m. Ritchie Ghostking (reviving the Kings of Country Music)

5 p.m. Parade assembles on Elm Street

6 p.m. Parade (The route begins at Elm Street and will proceed south on Santa Fe Avenue to South Street.)
