Salina breaks more than 100-year-old low temp record Sunday

Several new low-temperature records were set across the area this morning, including in Salina.

On the same day that Salina recorded the hottest temperature in the nation in 1989, the city also set its low-temperature record Sunday morning. According to the National Weather Service, Salina's low temperature this morning was 27 degrees, breaking a low record of 28 degrees that was set in 1909.

The coldest low temperature recorded this morning was in Russell where the temperature fell to 22 degrees, breaking the previous record of 26 degrees last set in 2013.
