The city-wide tree limb pickup following a catastrophic storm event in Salina has officially been completed.
According to the City of Salina, the Public Works Department has completed the limb pickup through various residential areas. The city made this announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
The city reported that since the storm on June 8, they have hauled over 4,500 dump truckloads of limbs from residential properties, and the landfill has received over 10,518 tons of yard waste debris.
The storm that took effect on the evening of June 8 experienced severe thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and 80 mph wind gusts in Salina.
It also caused a widespread power outage, with over 26,000 people affected across Saline County. Due to the 80-mph wind gusts, flying debris and downed trees caused damage to various vehicles and houses.
Roads were also flooded as roughly 2 to 7 inches of rainfall fell on Salina/Saline County roads. Debris and struck trees caused road blockages in various areas as well.
Private streets, alleys, or commercial properties were not addressed.
