Sacred Heart was playing its first games since January 5th and although the Knights played well, they left Beloit on Tuesday having been swept. Beloit girls 42, Sacred Heart 31The Lady Knights took advantage of the Trojans'shooting woes and led for the majority of the first half in a close game. Sacred Heart led 6-5 after the first quarter and 17-14 at halftime. Beloit came alive to start the second half and went on a 10-0 run to reclaim the lead. Sacred Heart answered with a 7-0 run of its own to tie the score late in third quarter.
Leading 26-24 heading into the final period, Beloit tacked on eight additional points for another 10-0 run that sealed the 42-31 victory. Sacred Heart falls to 5-5 overall and 0-3 in the NCAA league. Beloit boys 88, Sacred Heart 77 (2OT)The boys game looked like a tremendous matchup on paper and it definitely delivered on the court.The first half was reletively close as the Trojans led 12-11 after one quarter and the game was tied 25-25 at halftime. Sacred Heart then led 40-36 heading into the final period. The Knights were up by double-figures early in the fourth quarter, but the Trojans wouldn't stop fighting.
Sacred Heart began missing free throws and Beloit caught fire offensively. In the waning moments of regulation, the Trojans tied the score at 61-61.A tight first overtime wasn't enough to settle this game, the teams would go a second extra session tied at 68-68. Beloit put the game away by opening on a 13-0 run and claimed victory with an 88-77 final score. Sacred Heart is now 9-1 overall and 2-1 in the NCAA league.The Knights now turn their attention to a non-league matchup as they'll return home to take on Hutch Trinity Friday night.
