Roy Wayne McIver
February 9, 1959 ~ April 7, 2024

Roy W. McIver, 65 of Carbondale, KS passed away April 7, 2024 in his home. He was born in Hutchinson, KS on February 9, 1959 to Richard and Lona McIver, both preceding him in death in 2011 and 2020, respectively.

He graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1977. During his time there, he was active in JROTC and enjoyed playing the drums; both of which he pursued in adulthood. He played drums for various musical groups and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1977-1982  and the Air National Guard from 1986-2003, participating in the Persian Gulf Wars and Desert Storm, before retiring as Master Sergeant. He also worked as a private contractor for the United States Postal Service for 25 years.

Roy married his wife, Toni on May 25, 1985. Toni precedes Roy in death, passing away in 2018. Roy and Toni had one child, who passed away at birth on February 19, 1995. The love that they weren't able to share with their child was spread amongst 13 nieces and nephews, 20 great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. 

He also had a love for animals, but none more than Midnight, the cat he and Toni shared, who passed away in 2021 and his dog, Bear, who passed away in 2020. During the winter months, Roy followed in his parents’ footsteps, vacationing in Port Aransas, TX, always with his younger sister, Tina as his traveling companion. 

He is survived by his brothers, Bill McIver, Topeka, KS; Nolan McIver, Council Grove, KS and a sister, Tina McIver (-Morrison), Topeka, KS.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday April 19, 2024 at Ridgeway Cemetery, Carbondale, KS. Visitation and viewing will be at the cemetery at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service Friday.
