Last night Salvador Perez hit a grand slam and drove in a career-high six runs as the Kansas City Royals completed a doubleheader sweep of Cleveland, beating the Guardians 9-4 to pull within one game of first in the AL Central.
The Royals won the day game 4-3 as Bobby Witt Jr.’s 27th homer — and 11th since July 19 — snapped a tie in the eighth inning.
In Game 2, Perez hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning — after nearly striking out — and then connected for his sixth career slam in the sixth off Pedro Avila.

More locally, with college football season officially underway Kansas Wesleyan is preparing for their season opener this Saturday, and will enter the new year ranked 24th in the country.
Kansas Wesleyan also led the Bissell Division with 11 players earning all-division preseason team honors, and picked to finish atop the KCAC Coaches Poll in the Bissell, level with Ottawa to start the year.
Among those honored for K-Dub were RB Luke Armstrong and Zarek Fewell, WR Rhadarious Lomax-Spivey, DE Josh King-Bradley, LB Quatama Massaqioi and DBs Julian Urioste and Jordan Dupre
