The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a winter storm watch in effect from Tuesday evening through Thursday morning for the following counties in our area.
Ellsworth County
Marion County
McPherson County
Saline County
A wintry mix, will quickly transition to moderate to heavy snow. Initial snowfall accumulations on Wednesday of 3 to 5 inches, with an additional round of 3 to 6 inches of snowfall, Wednesday evening are expected at this time. Ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible early Wednesday.
Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a winter storm watch in effect from Tuesday evening through Thursday morning that includes Dickinson County.
Rain will transition to snow Tuesday evening, with heavy snow possible overnight through Wednesday. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 11 inches possible with highest amounts along and southeast of the Kansas Turnpike.
