On Wednesday, the AFL announced in a statement that it would be scheduling a bye week for all of its playoff teams “to ensure the best possible experience for teams and fans.”

This move cancels three games initially scheduled for this week, including the Liberty’s battle with the Billings Outlaws, and Albany’s clash with the Orlando Predators.

The Liberty, who would have had a chance to snag the 1-seed, were disappointed by this abrupt action taken by the league just days before their scheduled contest, and issued a statement of their own criticizing the move on Facebook.

With this, the playoff field is officially set, and the Liberty will return to Salina as the 3-seed to host the 6-seeded Southwest Kansas Storm at 3:00 on Saturday, July 6th

Wednesday also saw Salvador Perez highlight a five-run, two-out rally in the eighth inning with a go-ahead double down the left-field line, as the Kansas City Royals went on to beat the Miami Marlins 5-1

The outbreak came after Kansas City had scored two runs or fewer in five of its last seven games, and secured the series win for the Royals ahead of a three-game set with the Guardians
