During a routine business check by a Salina Police Department officer at the Salina Travel Plaza, staff notified the officer that someone had broken in between Friday, Feb. 16, and Saturday, Feb. 17.
According to SPD Capt. James Feldman, the burglary occurred between 10:45 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday, but staff and officers did not find evidence of forced entry into the business.
"When he [the officer] made contact with an employee who thought that the business might have been broken into, they did not see any forced entry," Feldman said. "But a check indicated that office supplies were stolen, which includes pens, papers, a laminator, a stamping set and some cash."
The employee reported that about $300 was missing from the business and valued the laminator at around $600.
Feldman said there are no suspects, but officers continue to investigate the crime.
Salina Post will update the story as more information becomes available.
