On Wednesday, Michael Lorenzen pitched seven shutout innings, MJ Melendez homered, and the Kansas City Royals beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-0 for their sixth win in seven games.
The Royals spoiled the season debut of Johnny Cueto, a 17-year veteran who helped Kansas City win the 2015 World Series.
Lorenzen allowed just four hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out five. He only allowed two runners to reach scoring position.

Meanwhile for the second consecutive year, Kansas wide receiver Lawrence Arnold has been named to the watch list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which recognizes the nation’s outstanding Division I college offensive player who was either born in Texas, graduated from a Texas high school or played at a Texas-based juco or four-year institution.
Arnold has been Kansas’ leader in receiving yards in each of the past two seasons, finishing the 2023 campaign with 44 receptions for 784 yards and six touchdowns.

And finally K-State women’s basketball head coach Jeff Mittie has added to his support staff for the 2024-25 season, selecting Madison Pahls as the Director of Women’s Basketball Administration.
Pahls replaces Kacie Jones in the role, as Jones accepted an assistant coach position at South Dakota State this summer.
