Hello and happy Monday, everybody, it’s Tyler Henry, back with another KINA Sports Update presented by Salina Regional Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.

Over the weekend the Salina Liberty pulled out a dramatic, late-game finish, fending off the Southwest Kansas Storm to punch their ticket to the AFL semifinals.

With a 41-35 victory, the Liberty secure a date with the Albany Firebirds in New York next Saturday at 1:30 CST while the Storm see their season draw to a close at 4-6.

The defense that Salina had hung it’s hat on all season long was immaculate once again, forcing four turnovers and three sacks in the win.

Charles McCullum had a great day under center as well, completing 47% of his passes for 164 yards, three touchdowns and only one pick.

Sunday also saw Maikel Garcia, MJ Melendez and Bobby Witt Jr. homere, and Brady Singer win for the first time on the road this season as the Kansas City Royals beat the Colorado Rockies 10-1 on Sunday to end a three-game losing streak.

Kansas City picks up the action in the battle for I-70 tomorrow as they travel to face the Cardinals

And finally, speaking of KC on Sunday four Royals were named to the AL All-Star Roster, as Salvador Perez, Bobby Witt Jr, Seth Lugo and Cole Ragans will all participate in the Texas Festivities

Four All-Stars are the most for the Royals since 2016, when Perez was named to the team alongside Eric Hosmer, Kelvin Herrera and Wade Davis
