High wind gusts and grassland fire danger expected throughout central Kansas, Salina on Friday

High wind gusts are expected to make its way through Salina and central Kansas on Friday.

According to the US National Weather Service, gusty northwest winds are forecasted during the day on Friday. Wind gusts are expected to range from 40-50 mph.

This is also paired with dry conditions, which there will be a very high grassland fire danger in the afternoon.

Russell is expected to have the highest speed of wind gusts with the range being 45-50 mph.

High temperatures for Salina is 41 degrees.
