The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a severe thunderstorm warning that remains in effect until 10:45 p.m. Tuesday for northeastern McPherson County and southeastern Saline County.

As of 10:05 p.m., a severe storm was located about 7 miles south of Gypsum, or 12 miles east of Lindsborg, moving east at 15 mph.

Radar indicates the storm could cause significant damage. Large hail may damage roofs, windows, siding, and vehicles. Strong winds could damage trees and structures.

Residents in the warning area should take shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
