The Sacred Heart Knights and Pleasanton Blu-Jays met in Council Grove on Friday night for a neutral site game, but thanks to lightning in the area, the game was delayed and then canceled early in the second quarter.

Both teams were forced to punt after stalled drives on their first offensive possessions. Later in the opening period, backed up at its own 12-yard-line, with the benefit of a pair of 15-yard penalties, Sacred Heart went on an 88-yard drive and what would eventually prove to be the game's lone touchdown.

Noah Hines capped off the long Knight drive with a touchdown catch from Maddox Wells. Dominic Matteucci hauled in the 2-point conversation pass attempt as well.

The score would remain 8-0 at the end of the first quarter and early into the second. Sacred Heart had marched down the field once more and were in the redzone looking to add to its lead. However, lightning in the area postponed the game for about 45 minutes until the decision was made to postpone and then cancel the game with it not being rescheduled.

Sacred Heart will resume its schedule on the road next Friday at Valley Heights. Kickoff is set for 7pm. Every Sacred Heart game throughout the season can be seen and heard with live streaming audio and video at salinapost.com.
