A fire weather watch has been issued for counties in our area.
The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a fire weather watch in effect for Wednesday afternoon through evening for the following counties in our area.
●Ellsworth County
●Lincoln County
●Marion County
●McPherson County
●Saline County
Extreme grassland fire danger is forecast. Winds from the southwest at 30 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph are forecast, with the strongest across portions of central Kansas. Relative humidity as low as 19 percent is forecast with the lowest across portions of central Kansas.
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and become very difficult to control. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
