Sacred Heart was playing Friday coming off a pair of losses at Beloit. The Knights welcomed Hutch Trinity to Salina and won both games in blowout fashion.
Sacred Heart Girls 57, Hutch Trinity 22
In the opener of the doubleheader, the Lady Celtics began the game with an early 2-0 lead. The Lady Knights answered with a 10-0 run and never looked back.
With a 14-7 after the opening quarter, Sacred Heart's Katie Weiss caught fire. She scored 14 of her game-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers, in the second period.
The Lady Knights had a 31-14 advantage at halftime and 45-20 lead after three quarters on their way to a 57-22 win. 12 different Lady Knights saw playing time Friday night as nine of them scored in the game.
In addition to Weiss, Avery Eshleman and Adelyn Lee also scored in double-figures with 10 points each. Sacred Heart improves to 6-5 overall.
Sacred Heart Boys 74, Hutch Trinity 31
Sacred Heart completed the doubleheader header sweep as the boys came out firing on all cylinders. The Knights never trailed in the game and essentially iced the victory by the end of the first quarter.
Sacred Heart led 18-4 heading into the second quarter and the advantage ballooned to 41-15 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, eight different Knights had scored and five of those were in double-figures.
In the 74- 31 victory, Michael Matteucci and Evan Bogart each scored 15 points. Luca Adami added 14 off the bench. Max Erlich and Jason Marrs had 10 points apiece.
Sacred Heart is now 10-1 overall and 2-1 in the NCAA league.
The Knights will return to action on Monday for a stretch of five games in six nights. First up is Republic County who will travel to Salina to play a rescheduled game that was postponed on January 9th.
