CONCORDIA - "Fuel Your Creativity" is the theme for Cloud County Community College's upcoming high school Art Day.
The annual event is scheduled for Friday in Arley Bryant Gymnasium on the Concordia campus.
Students from area high schools will have pieces of artwork on display in the gymnasium, according to information from Cloud County Community College. The artwork will be available for public viewing from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday. There is no charge to view the artwork.
Awards will be given in the following categories: oil painting, acrylic painting, pencil drawing, charcoal, colored pencil, pastel, photography, ceramics, mixed media, stained glass, most unique, found object or recycle art, honorable mention, best of show, and best of sidewalk chalk art.
Winners of all competitions will be announced in Cook Theatre beginning at 1 p.m.
Additionally, during the morning, students will be able to participate in several workshops or in the Sidewalk Chalk Art event. The workshops and their instructors include the following, according to Cloud County Community College.
●Ceramics, slip casting, and clay mono-printing – Leslie Girard.
●Photography – find creative inspiration to take better photos – Rob Zima.
●3D Printing and Lithophanes – Monte Poersch
●Yarn Art and Macramé – Susan Dudley
●Digital Illustration – Washington County High School senior Kadie Toole and Izzy (the amazing Cogi)
●Racing Graphics and Sign Design – Ryan Boyer, Wicked Designs, who will be wrapping a racecar on site.
