At 4:16 a.m. on Saturday  July 13 2024 The NWS issued a a heat advisory which remains in effect from 1 p.m. this afternoon until 8 p.m.

Heat index values up to 108 degrees expected.

WHERE
Portions of Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas. 

WHEN
From 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT Monday.

IMPACTS

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Including the cities of Rose Hill, Russell, Andover, El Dorado, Iola, Peabody, Neodesha, Marion, Cedar Vale, Harper, Lyons, Humboldt, Grenola, Yates Center, Coffeyville, Longton, McPherson, Chanute, Bel Aire, Hutchinson, Park City, Winfield, Parsons, Howard, Sylvan Grove, Fredonia, Lincoln, Ellsworth, Independence, Attica, Wichita, Anthony, Sedan, Cottonwood Falls, Eureka, Strong City, Sterling, Haysville, Great Bend, Wellington, Hillsboro, Derby, Salina, Valley Center, Madison, Wilson, Kingman, Arkansas City, Augusta, Moline, and Newton.

Reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency!
