When a 65-year-old Saline County resident returned to his 1994 Kenworth semi-truck in a field near Assaria Thursday morning, he discovered that someone had broken its windows with rocks.

He then contacted the Saline County Sheriff's Office (Saline County SO) at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and reported the vandalism.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said sometime between 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, and 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, an unknown suspect or suspects visited the truck parked in the 11900 block of South Lamer Road near Assaria and hurled rocks through its windows.

"Somebody overnight had taken rocks from 2 to 4 inches in diameter and broke four windows out of the truck, causing about $5,000 worth of damage," Soldan said.

Deputies continue to search for suspects and investigate the crime.

Salina Post will update the story as more information becomes available.
