On Monday Major League Baseball announced that Salvador Perez was named the Kansas City Royals 2024 nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award, baseball’s most prestigious individual honor for Major Leaguers. This is Salvy’s third nomination in four years.

The Roberto Clemente Award is the annual recognition of a Major League player who best represents the game of Baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field.

On the field, the World Series winning catcher was named to his ninth all-star game, making him the second most decorated player in Royals history while off the field Salvy creates opportunities for those in need in his home country of Venezuela

Monday also saw Kansas Wesleyan's Luke Armstrong selected as the KCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in a Coyote win.

Armstrong rushed eight times for 168 yards and two touchdowns, which included a 90-yard run. He averaged 21.0 yards per rush for the game. He also was a key part of Wesleyan's successes on special teams as he returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score immediately after Bethany had scored a touchdown.
